  2. To answer the question posted in the title, yes, they can. I don't know why people insist on piling on our students, fans, etc at any and every chance they get. Someone else is having success? Let's go post on the Mean Green board wondering why we don't have success and then lament how crappy our _________ is compared to that of __________. Good grief. Go out and enjoy game day today!

  3. I can't for the life of me get to sleep at a decent hour on game day eve. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! We have our disagreements on this board, but on gameday, we stand as one. Go Mean Green!

  4. It's reality. If we had just beaten Arkansas, taken Auburn to OT, and were hosting Baylor at home, what kind of attendance and intensity do you think we'd have at Apogee for that game? And if ULM had just beaten an FCS team, gone to OT with a Belt team, and was hosting another Belt team at home, do you think the attendance and intensity would match what they have tonight?

  5. Just goes to show, if you put a competitive team on the field, fans will come.

  6. It pains me to say this but, until I see our fans actually fill Apogee up (and then actually get loud when we need it), the answer to your question is "no".

  7. Because I know how long construction projects tend to be held up... I'd like to formally invite the boys to use the new court I just installed in my backyard for all their practice needs. Never let it again be said the Denia Folks don't support athletics.

Glad to see he is having some success at the high school level again.

  14. What is that supposed to mean? I'm not making any excuses, and I will support and have supported for 20 years the team regardless of opponent and regardless of how crappy the product on the field has been. I'm just pointing out the very obvious, obvious to all but the most obtuse . . . the excitement going on about ULM right now--not just in Monroe, LA, but throughout the whole country--has a whole lot to do with their opponents. Comprende?

  15. And this is why we'll never be truly big time. So long as we honestly believe the opponent is the draw we will fail.

  17. Not to derail a thread, but I just might. I am sooo glad we didn't hire Leach. I know many on here wanted it but I truly think he would have been the wrong guy to help change the culture at NT.

  19. I don't know about you guys but I'm gonna be just about useless at work today. It's the Friday before game day!!!! I've got the bottled water, tents, beer, chairs, tailgating crew briefed...and, because I was so amped today while shopping, I broke down and made another gallon or so of the Mean Green Punch. I'll be walking around the red/blue lots giving out samples.* *Do not drink the Mean Green Punch if: You don't like the feeling of being tipsy You are a pansy You are pregnant You are female, and don't want to risk getting pregnant You intend to sit on your hands inside the stadium You can't find your way INTO the stadium You have a heart condition You have any friends with video cameras

  20. ULM is going crazy and fans are matching. We need the same intensity on and off the field.
    1 point
  21. I say we already have matched them. TWICE. Look at the size of crowds we got both times Baylor played us at Fouts. But if UNT had just had accomplished what ULM has done the past two weeks, we would fill Apogee whomever the opponent

  24. Mendoza was at Cedar Hill for a couple of years after leaving here then went to Springtown (NW of Ft Worth a little ways past Azle). Dunno if he's still there or not.

  25. Excuses are like you know what. Everyone has (at least) one. I will support this team regardless of who the opponent is. I care about UNT's record, not the team they are playing. Win against our conference and I don't care who they play in OOC. Just win baby. Make me grow tired of debating the quality of our wins rather than the quality of our losses.

  27. What we are watching is a $60 million athletic budget verses an $8.2 million athletic budget. Simply amazing what ULM has done so far this year. Rick

  38. Appreciate your view, but I guarantee you that Rubit and Mitchell's ability was not close last year and unless Rubit has gotten a lot better and Mitchall a lot worse, it is not close right now. You admit you have not seen either one in person, so I can understand your take. However, you are projecting who is going to be the best player in the league which is not the same as who has produced the most so far. Rubit is a good player but no one that has seen both play several times is going to pick him over Mitchell. One game does not mean a lot but in the USA vs NT game last year, Rubit had 2 points and 6 rebounds; Mitchell 34 points and 16 rebounds. I don't know if you realize that Mitchell did not practice with the team prior to becoming eligible in the second semester last year and a couple of weeks later NT loses their starting point guard, who by the way led the conference in scoring and assists at the time so he should definitely be in your top ten" and another key player. So Mitchell was rusty not having played regularly in two years, and the team was hampered playing the last semester with only three scholarship guards. Team chemistry was definitely a problem. Silly to question the right decision because you thought it was close, but talent like Mitchell doesn't come around often for 300 plus teams in div. 1.
