A little birdie told me that Lance would be brought up to the 53 for the opening game due to an injury. May play special teams.11 points

Recap Video I wanted to do something quick, but that effort took roughly 6 hours of trial and error. Hopefully next time (if there is one) I can spend more of that time picking plays to highlight than figure out why I the audio isn't matching up. Enjoy.9 points

I too saw some good stuff Saturday in Baton Rouge. First, Les Miles better be worried more about what his team didn't do, than Coach Mac. If this is the best LSU has, he has problems coming down the road. They kept the first group in till the last 4 minutes and throwing long balls and scoring in the last 4-5 minutes. If we get a holding call on a long run that resulted in a score; catch some balls for conversions...this is a much closer game. Kansas St. better beware...Houston for sure along with the rest of the Sunbelt. This years MEAN GREEN could be a very good team....a very good YOUNG team...even more dangerous going into CUSA.7 points

A couple of quick looks at defensive #'s. Sacks: UNT-2/LSU-0 TFL's: UNT-5/LSU-6 Those stats are very encouraging for this defense. Really excited to see how they carry it forward.5 points

Maybe UNT should apologize to him for having a horrible football program while he was here? Pow pow5 points

Cooperstein and Nate were talking this afternoon about the North Texas - LSU game. I randomly caught it. They were very impressed particularly with Chancellor, the defensive play, and how hard the guys worked. They basically felt that, despite getting run on as we did, being overmatched, that our guys harrassed the LSU QB relentlessly. The exchange went something like this: Coop: "I LOVE Dan McCarney and what he's doing up there at North Texas. Those guys play the right way. They play hard. That team is going to win a lot of games in the Sun Belt this season." Nate: "We could use that D-Line coach up here (referring to the Cowboys)."4 points

Honestly, I don't think this week will tell us a whole lot either. Houston. That game will tell us a lot. Troy. That game will tell us a lot.4 points

As much as I hate what Josh Tweeted, if we had won I can only think it would have been positive towards NT. He put his foot in his mouth on a very public forum, and instead of doing the appropriate thing as an ambassador of North Texas and apologized, he defended his statement. I don't care if an athlete has a home town allegiance despite the school who payed for his education. Just don't publish it for the world to see on a public forum. All he did was show his corner of the "twitterverse" that despite the fact that he worked hard for his scholarship as an athlete, played in the NCAA tournament representing the Mean Green, and has a NT degree in his hand, LSU was still #1 in his heart even when facing his alma mater. Its insulting to the school and alumni that supported him. If that's how Josh feels, fine. However he's held to a higher standard because hes a rep for the School. Think before you speak next time, Josh. Don't broadcast it to the world. I'll take my soapbox and go home now.4 points

Time will tell. Part of me thinks that is the worst LSU team I can remember.3 points

I'd rather have people call us North Texas State than put UNT on the helmets.3 points

I think it's interesting to look at how JJ built up our basketball program over the last 10 years. We consistently had one of the weakest SOS's in all of college basketball....but we slowly were able to recruit better players until we had enough to build a 20 game winner 5 years in a row (against said weak schedule). Now, we weren't a rotating hot seat for assistant coaches during that time and that's harder to pull off in a sport like football that employs at least twice the staff. Either way, we average over 4k in basketball attendance now (double a decade ago), and will probably only increase that this year and next. Attendance is built through consistent winning. Our own basketball program bears that out. Now, it'd be great if they could get to the point where they help make enough money to offset the football program's need to schedule these huge payout games....but I'm not sure how that all gets sorted out inside the athletics department and if any surge would even be used that way.3 points

I'm kinda meh. It's hard to make much of successes when you're down 21 point 4 seconds into the 2nd quarter. On the other hand, we looked faster and bigger, and DT looked composed. This week should tell us a lot.3 points

Go to the play where Hilbert knocked out the QB and you will see Tevinn make a great move on the OG. If Hilbert had not gotten there so fast, I am pretty sure Cantly would have gottern a sack.3 points

They mentioned that the TSU game will be on TXA 21 in the DFW area. For you out-of-towners, I saw that ESPN3 will also have the game.3 points

Well, they will both probably play the same amount of minutes career wise for LSU. So... Maybe?3 points

Man, these are some great ideas!!! If only an alumnus had called the AD's office and offered to make all of this happen...free of charge...on his own time. Turning that down would be downright silly, huh?3 points

Yep, just let him go on back to Louisiana and never be heard from again, have no connection to UNT, and give nohing back to the place that gave hime a free education while LSU did not. That is why we are who we are.3 points

Great, Chapman was recognized, late but much appreciated by this fan. He IMO was overall a better player than Brandon Kennedy and the best player to play for Fry. I will be lost not getting to go into my annual rant about why he was excluded.2 points

Drex has the correct answer. If one is a scholarship athlete on a varsity program, that program, that school should be "your school." If not, that's a shame. Perhaps that athlete should have tried to walk on to their prefered program and hoped for a scholarship later rather than going to a school that believed in them enough to offer a scholarship. If Josh doesn't want to cheer tor North Texas, fine. But he shold never rah-rah for an opponent of North Texas. And when "Hall of Fame" time comes around, I hope the selectors remember who Josh's favorite team really is. GO MEAN GREEN2 points

For us old-timers Walter Chapman's induction into the UNT Athletic Hall of Fame was very slow in occurring. He was the epitome of the Hayden Fry model for a nose tackle in the John LaGrone (SMU) tradition. I have lots of great memories of Chapman's heroics in the early-to-mid-70s. Congratulations Walter - You, sir, were one helluva player.2 points

SHOULD NT03 apologize for what he just done said about our school n stuff???!?!2 points

"He didn’t look him self". What do you mean? 6 tackles, one behind the line!!!I I thought he had more tackles than credited…He also had two Qb knockdowns and a ton of hurries. We probably need to do a better job looking….In spite of what some think, I thought he had a good game. By the way, I thought both lines played physical ball…Our Dline got to the Qb and hit him often and our O-line at times man handled their dline.. I remember a series in the 3rd quarter with LSU starters on the field, running and passing, we drove the ball down field. We just looked better than I’ve ever seen. I think a lot of credit should go to the off season strength and conditioning program. I’m really excited about the potential for success, this season.2 points

I just want them to play whatever is new and hip and gets the students fired up and whips them into a frenzy. That said, I think What's New Pussycat or Waltzing Matilda would been cool.2 points

At work, I overheard a coworker (who I know to be a NT grad) get asked who they root for in college football. The response was "Well, I went to NT so....I'll root for anybody". NT will gain respect as soon as our own people respect us. I know that is preaching to the choir here, but it is the truth. I WILL get that person to a football game this year.2 points

Josh White? Is he the guy that was too small to play at LSU? Edit: Can vote now with non-issue option added2 points

Would it have been okay if he applied his craft at say Oklahoma or Texas? Or Texas A&M? No he'd get blasted 1000 times harder. While none of us are dying from his comments I just don't get why it's too much to expect better from him?2 points

I respectfully disagree. What you're suggesting puts all the pressure on the coaching staff and players. That's very unrealistic. What I've been making reference to is the school officials (and loyal and dedicated alumni volunteers) who are in charge of establishing a real game day atmosphere with lots of real college pageantry and school traditions. Winning only enhances it.....but it has to exist in the first place. Students and fans come to the game to watch their team win. But what keeps them coming back (especially in lean times) is their participation in, and being part of (or feeling that they are a real part of), the total game day experience. During the decade of my High School attendance (60's) the butt of everyone's football jokes was Texas A&M. Their 60's record was this.. 1960--1-6-3 1961--4-5-1 1962--3-7 1963--2-7-1 1964--1-9 1965--3-7 1966--4-5-1 1967--7-4 1968--3-7 1969--3-7 They were a JOKE! Yet you wouldn't find a school with more loyal fans. One of the main reasons was that the students and fans were made to feel like they were a real part of the A&M game day traditions......which they consistently adhered to......even in very tough times.2 points

Money. National exposure (albeit as a sacrificial lamb). And recruits want to come to a program where they will on occasion play Texas, LSU, Alabama, & Oklahoma. Those are all good reasons to schedule top-10 teams. Plus some day we'll win one of those games.2 points

I didn't post about Obi on the Adopt a Player Thread until last night. Obi had 6 tackles. He tackled Blue for a loss of a yard. OBI had a decent game.2 points
