I don't think anyone here is proud that we lost. We're proud of the way we played. Was it perfect? No. But no one gave up, everyone went 150%, and it was very clear that this UNT team is far, far better than we were week 1 last year. While the only meaningful stats are wins and losses, they are still just statistics at the end of the day. They do not tell the full story, not even with a score. Yes, we lost big on paper. But, we didn't lose big on the field. We matched a top 3 team in intensity and heart, and we had them concerned heading into the half, and we then responded by playing even tougher in the 2nd half. Am I happy we lost by 27? Hell no. Am I happy and very excited because of how we looked on the field against the best there is in college football? Absolutely. I'm beyond ecstatic for the rest of the season. Come out against Southern with the same intensity and we'll be up by 25 at the half.6 points

The boys were a littlenervous/ intimidated out of the box, but recovered nicely. Lots of hope for this team.6 points

I saw some good things tonight. We were able to get to the LSU QB and hit him hard. If we can get to the LSU QBs we can get to the Sun Belt QBs. Our young secondary did a fair job for being completly new. Chancellor had a great game against a talented secondary. The young RBs did a good job. Jimmerson looks like he could be a beast in the Sun Belt. I love that LSU was still playing their starters at the end of the game. I think we have a team that can compete at the top level of the Sun Belt.6 points

Brelan Chancellor had 4 receptions for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. Great job Brelan!5 points

If we signed more kids from Denton, instead of Louisiana, we wouldn't have this problem! After all this is the university of N. Texas. Seriously, a little disappointing but not a big deal. Kid was rooting for LSU in their quest for a national championship instead of rooting against UNT. I'm sure he would have been thrilled for UNT if we would have won (with tweets about his old school) but disappointed if LSU would have lost; eliminating a shot at a BCS game. We have about 200,000 alums in DFW and probably 1,000,000 who attended UNT but adopted other schools. We have thousands who have relocated from all over the country to find work here. Despite all the benefits this region has afforded them, they still root for their home team. (Redskins, Giants, Phily etc). As someone pointed out, I've seen Josh escorting recruits to UNT football games in his efforts to help sell this program. I'm also convinced that while in Louisiana, Josh will steer kids this way that he may work with. Josh is still a young guy saying politically incorrect things in the social media. Marcus Twice (#8) seems to promote UNT at every opportunity but he has been critical of UNT's resources (coming from OU) on twitter in the past. Hell, I'm still stinging from the Karen Aston's of the world, and other past coaches, who used North Texas as a stepping stone. This was the ultimate slap in the face. Generally speaking, I understand bringing in talent like Josh to Denton but I don't understand walk on guys from Iowa, and other places, who will not stick around DFW when their playing days are over. When in doubt, continue to build the program with locals (when ability is about equal). Josh may be good friends with Trey Norris (We don't know the full story behind a 1 sentence tweet)4 points

Have you watched the last 2 or 10 games we have played against teams comparable to this LSU team?!?4 points

The team looks better than they have in a long time. Some tough breaks against a great team but our team played hard. We should do well in conference. I am proud of them.4 points

Completely agree. Our defense is much improved. I like our O line getting that push in the 3rd qtr. Chancellor may have been the fastest on the field tonight. He needs touches since he appears to be our T.Y. Hilton. Rick4 points

There's an old coaching adage that says that the biggest improvement in a football team occurs between week one and week two. Assuming that this is true, where do you think we will improve the most? OR, more to the point, where do you think we NEED to improve the most? I'll start. 1. our interior D-line needs to step up and be much more dominate. You got "handled" (and not very politely either) too many times. 2. some of the receivers that we assumed that we could count on need to get re-focused. Too many drops after the ball lands in their hands.....Powers?.....Delgado? 3. The whole defense needs to tackle like Hilbert Jackson......WHAM! That's how you get turnovers.3 points

Before the game most on the board said we need to run the ball and the clock and get out of there. Some of those same people are now saying we should have opened the playbook. Just be happy our O line looked real solid, no stupid decisions by DT. To me it looked like DT, Brelan, and our O line were the only part of our passing game that made the trip to LA. If we dont need to show out hand yet to opponents, don't count on it. Just Win Baby3 points

No one likes losing. It sucks. That doesn't mean the team didn't show vast improvement over previous years playing similar teams.3 points

The three guys in front of me were diehard LSU fans but lived in Denton ironically. They follow UNT closely as the dad was a grad but they travel down for all Tiger games. They were obviously shaken by the fact that LSU with their stellar QB was not able to blow up our defense. Our guys confidence built during the game and though they gave up the late TD I can't help but think that the number 8 team in the country was playing number 2 and had the same game we did - all the way down to the late turnover with one minute to go in the game - weird. Now we are not Michigan or in the top 10, but we played a hard fought game from beginning to end and unlike other games we were not only playing better because the other team let off the gas. The Mean Green was playing better because they rose up and got pissed. They made a couple of plays and gave it their all. We will not enter Manhattan thinking we can't win that game. Getting it will not be easy but watch out purple people because the Green are coming to town in a less than two weeks. Meanwhile, it is time to punish TSU this weekend. Tailgate on the Hill pre and post game - it's on MG Nation! GMG3 points

Leaving Baton Rouge now and listening to Tiger fans tell us we played a good game is refreshing. Plus I saw it with my own eyes. After the guys settled into the game they played their hearts out. We took our D to the number 3 team in the nation and walked out with our heads high. That is awesome. Further, as a 26 year follower of the Mean Green it has been awhile since I felt good about a game of this magnitude. I refuse to call it a body bag game because Coach does not tell the guys they are playing a body bag game and they don't think it. After tonight I think we beat TSU, Troy, Houston, South Alabama, Lafayette, Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, ULM. I think Middle is a trap game and I think Arky State and KSU will be tough. This is going to be a fun year ladies and gentlemen. GMG3 points

As has been said, no one is happy that we lost. But to expect us to go from a 2-10 Sun Belt team to being an SEC-elite-caliber team in a couple of years might be a little unrealistic. So let's deal within the realm of reality. Reality is that we are nowhere near being an SEC-elite-caliber team, and we all knew that before the game was played. But after the first few drives, we saw pretty good coverage in the defensive backfield, we saw a solid performance by the O-line against probably the best D-line in the nation, and we saw some potential in the RBs we knew virtually nothing about. We played much closer in this game than we did in the Bama game last year. Improvement is good, is it not? Indications that we could potentially win every game remaining on our schedule (other than perhaps K-State) are good, are they not?3 points

I hear this argument all the time. And I buy it for about two quarters...if you're that good of a team, which we assume LSU is, you don't come out of the locker room STILL overlooking your opponent. LSU never pulled starters, took shots downfield and played to score until the very end...evidenced by their TD with 4 mins to go. They didn't look ahead, they just didn't expect what they got from us.3 points
-
They wouldn't have covered the spread even if they had tried to get in that last TD . . . they were favored by 43.3 points
-
We might have been using a very conservative game plan to try to limit the potential for turnovers. I think we might see the offense be more agressive next game.3 points
-
At times our O line also looked good against one of the best front 7s in the country. I don't think they gave up a sack tonight, and they were able to open some lanes for the RBs.3 points

VERY proud of this newly invigorated team! With some issues and lack of depth, they still went out and showed that they can play their heart outs against any team. Excited to see how we progress this season and hopefully come out as SB champs! GMG!3 points

As are those in charge who let it happen. Want to play with electric cars? Go buy a POS civic from the junk yard for $100 and toy around with that instead. At least the A is reversable...so they say? These folks collectivley couldn't even keep one of the most simplistic combustible engines ever designed in the U.S. running. I'll be curious to see when in 5, 10 or 15 years from now their "Project" falls prey to similar decay and none of them familiar enough with it are still around or care enough to keep it's maintenance up. I wanna get on board with you, I really do. I know, though, that the biggest improvement is made between the first game and the second. In our case our second game will tell us even less than our first one did. I'm just saying that Houston and K-State will see a more pronounced learning curve in week two than we will. I am pleasantly surprised by what I've seen thus far.2 points

Red Zone defense is looking relatively solid. I suppose at some point you have to take the talent differential into consideration. Anyone else besides LSU, I think we'd be in great shape.2 points
