If I see him with a LSU jersey on tomorrow in the tailgate area, I'll have a serious sit down with him. He won't be hard to miss. He will be the 5'5" shooting guard disguised as a point guard. What?7 points

That exact mentality (and excusing it as if it's palatable) are what has been/still is wrong with NT alumni.6 points

Call it frustration. We have clawed, scratched, begged, borrowed and stolen to get out of the series of purgatory conferences we've been in. UTSA decided to start a football club to go along with their lemonade stand and they're in CUSA.4 points

I disagree. I think a win, especially a blowout win, would matter to the student body and all of the people in Denton who say UNT never wins. A win is a win.4 points

I'm pretty sure TCU lost to SFA in Patterson's 2nd year. They haven't done too bad since I don't mind playing a FCS team IF you are a decent BCS team & IF it's against a shitty FCS team. McNeese & EWU are 2 very solid teams & mtsu/Idaho were very foolish for scheduling them It wouldn't bother me at all if we opened every season @ home vs a team like Texas Southern. Establish a winning atmosphere , bring the students back for more, build self confidence. If we are scared we might lose to these types of schools then we shouldn't be DI4 points

I've got a similar background... many years in Lubbock, parents graduated raiders, dad took tickets at the football and basketball games and snuck me and my brother in for free. i honestly thought that when i started at UNT that i would continue to be a fan of tech. it wasn't until i facepalmed myself at the end of my freshman year that i realized what i was becoming. I will give him an opportunity over the course of the next week to apologize for his comments and pledge full allegiance to unt. if this doesn't happen, I hope somebody informs RV and the rest of the committee that decides who's jersey gets raised in the pit what just occured. Our donations help pay for these guys to get an education and become an ambassador for our cause. When he signed his letter in intent someone obviously needed to do a better job explaining his role during and after his tenure.4 points

Josh has no excuse as far as I am concerned. I grew up in Austin, went to many, many games in Memorial Stadium growing up and even have degrees from UT Austin, but my B.A.is from North Texas. That is who I cheer for and I would NEVER cheer for the Longhorns over the Mean Green. In fact, I have always wanted our team to win and was really p.o.'d when the refs stole the game from us in 1988.4 points

Well, then he can wait for LSU to retire his number and put him in their HOF, because he should never be inducted into our's. Regarding his grammar, my guess is that he has been accepted to LSU's Department of English grad school.4 points

It'd be pretty awesome if Lance got picked up by the Saints. Cool little story line: Katrina forces his family to move to Haltom City, he goes to UNT, sets the all-time rushing record at UNT, then returns to NOLA to play for the Saints.4 points

This whole thread makes me sad. He worked his ass of while he was here and represented the university well. Like others have said, I also wish he had become a diehard to the core MeanGreen fan, but that's not in the contract and in no way diminishes my memories of his time here. Its not like the kid is going out of his way to disparage North Texas, we don't need to be going out of our way to disparage him.3 points

The chances of this team beating a top 25 team is probably 1:100. Our chances of beating TSU is 5:1. You go with the odds. We have played a lot top of 25 teams over the years and have nothing but a paycheck to show for it. Playing a top 25 team close does not get you anything tangible.3 points

You would rather play a team like UT than Texas Southern... If we play UT with 10k more people at one game and go 5-7 with no bowl game. Rather than playing Texas Southern and having a better chance to go 6-6 and go to a bowl game... You would still pick UT, because of attendance?? Sorry but bowl games bring more money than $20k in ticket sales... But if UNT does beat UT, that would be great but the chances are slim. Having a better chance of winning is always better3 points

How can I take seriously a writer that refers to basketball teams as "non-BCS"?3 points

Well, Middle and FAU playing each other next week should leave one of them feeling a little better. We think we have it tough, but FAU playing Georgia (6) and Alabama (2) in the following weeks sounds a bit overwhelming, after scoring 7 against the Valkyries or whatever the Wagnerians are called.3 points

7:00pm on Friday, September 7th. Mean Green Soccer Stadium I am getting this started a week early. This is possibly the biggest home game of the year. NT is undefeated. Baylor's only loss is to #15 LBSU 2-1 in OT...in Long Beach. NT beat Baylor the last time the two played in Denton on a rain soaked night in September 2009 by a score of 2-1. That was John Hedlund's 200th Victory. I cannot express how excited I am about this game. If you are in the area for the football game, or just live around Denton, come out and support this team. This should be a sell-out. Who's in?2 points

The game is tonight at the Mean Green Soccer Stadium. 7:00pm. This should not be a difficult win tonight. The SWAC schools are traditionally mediocre at best in soccer and that is being nice. Anything can happen though, it's a crazy game (anyone remember the 2-0 USA victory over Spain in the 2009 Confederations Cup?). Unfortunately, I will not be able to provide updates for this one, as I had an unavoidable conflict, however I strongly encourage anybody in the area to go out and support this team, which could be something special come mid-November. After tonight, the team will head to Grambling for a Sunday game. ONE WEEK FROM TODAY IS THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST BAYLOR. EVERYONE SHOULD POSTPONE THEIR ACTIVITIES ON THE HILL FOR HALF AN HOUR AND COME SEE THIS TEAM PLAY A POTENTIALLY RANKED TEAM AT HOME. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS NOT TO BE A SELL OUT AND ATTENDANCE RECORD BREAKER. Go Mean Green!2 points

Crashing another team's GameDay is kind of douchery. But it's exactly what SMU fans would do.2 points

Even on the practice squad another team can claim him as long as they put him on the 53 man roster at some point in the season. But yes I fully expect Felix to get hurt at some point and miss some time so I think both Dunbar and Olawale will get some chances to get in a regular season game.2 points

Frank Broyles supposedly said, "No one remembers who you played in late December, only if you won or lost." When we are winning 8-10 games per year regularly, I think then we may worry about who we beat. Until then, we need to win. If LSU beats us as everyone predicts and goes undefeated, no one will say LSU was 11-0 and beat UNT. We are the only ones who give credit for close losses to the LSU's and UT's of the world. To people who don't follow us, it was just another loss.2 points

Got in at about 2AM last night. You guys be careful on the road. Look for me in the stands. I'll be the tall guy in a Brandon McCoy jersey (thank you Mean Green garage sale) sitting next to the even taller guy in LSU gear (hey, had to bring protection along for the inevitable upset).2 points

I find this rather disturbing. If that's how he feels, he should keep it to himself. NT gave him much more than LSU Football ever did. If for no other reason, he should keep it shut out of respect to UNT. I may be crazy though since I have such respect and passion for my Alma Mater2 points

Not as much as hurting when you don't get inducted to a school's HOF for being an ass. Yeah, who gave you a free education? And please learn some proper grammar. You are an adult.2 points

I'm also very excited about this game next Friday night, this is going to be an absolute war between two teams that really dont care for each other! I hope our young guns are up to the task. Noticed in the latest NSCAA poll Baylor is ranked #23 in the nation and just whipped up on Nebraska tonight 3-0..out shot them 24-2. I'm sure Baylor's ranking will go up even higher before we play them. This is going to be a very physical match to say the least! We need a huge crowd Friday night - lets go Mean Green Nation, support your undefeated soccer team!2 points

Well, they didn't but I will play along. Good bar bet from a former BSU athlete friend of mine: Only one team that has played BSU six or more times does not have a losing record to them: Answer: North Texas is 3-3 all-time vs Boise. GMG2 points

Zach Orr blitzes, picks the quarterback up and throws him over his shoulder, then runs to the goal line and spikes the quarterback in the endzone for a touchdown. Immediately thereafter, one Elizabeth Neptune tweets that this should be her husband's touchdown.2 points
