  1. Point guards: CJ is solid on all levels.. He can do it all plain and simple.. PJ is a facilitator .. Unreal ball handler with average shot, a better version of TNo.. Shooting guards- Alzee- shut down defender has been shooting lights out .. TJ- salty lefty that is crafty and can score from perimeter Brandon- Have not seen much of him at REC lately.. Overlander - knock down shooter with a lot better defensive skills than many will think.. SF - Jwill - most improved, dunking constantly and shooting leaps and bounds above what he was at this point last yr - Holmen- very rarely see him there but his beard is sexy (no homo) JP - great rebounder, long and athletic PF - Niko - just being Niko - roger - working his tail off, treats every possession like its his last - Tony- no words describe the talent, his shot looks quicker and more pure.. Defensive wise there is no one close, his ball handling has improved and his passing has been beautiful C - Keith Co - great surprise! Physical and can get up, blocks shots and rebounds, can't shoot but loves to run the floor and loves to dunk! He will be solid! PS- play of the yr occurred yesterday when tony received a mid court pass from PJ and ally oop windmilled on a poor soul.. So dirty , play stopped for 10 plus minutes.. PPS- Ike diogu was there yesterday with a coach who is helping out named coach Allen (they played together at ASU) keith and tony played very well against him and didn't back down at all.. That's against a guy who poured in 20+ against team USA for Nigeria.. All together team looks great! Great chemistry and all of them rave about Benford and how close they are getting to him.. Well that's all .. Gmg

  2. My wife and I watched the show on Tuesday evening and thought it was really well done. It was an hour show with over half of it coming from Apogee stadium. The UNT portion was hosted by Gina Miller. She wore a bright green blouse and later chastized the studio guys for not wearing their green ties. She was seated in a director's chair on the playing field with the scoreboard in the background. The scoreboard had The Fan logo on it. She interviewed Coach Mac, Rick V, and two players - Derek Thompson and Brandon McCoy. Coach Mac was his usual upbeat self and emphasized the progress that has been made in the short time that he has been there and the amount of progress that still needs to be made to get to where the program wants to go. Rick talked about the Mean Green Villiage and all the facilities that have been built in a fairly short period of time. The players were very well spoken with "Yes, ma'am" and "No, ma'am" coming very naturally from them. Brandon talked some about his time in the Army in Iraq and how fortunate he was to have not been killed when a mortar round exploded near him. Derek mentioned that he had already received his degree from North Texas and was in graduate school now. Both players spoke about how their experiences last year made them better players and that they were looking forward to this season. They were great representatives for the athletic department and for the university. The show repeatedly had film clips from the Houston game and the Indiana game. Ms. Miller constantly referenced how nice Apogee stadium was and how neat it was that the scoreboard had their Fan logo on it. All in all it was a very well produced program. I plan to send a note of Thanks for both Channel 21 for their coverage and to the folks in the UNT athletic department for their part in making it happen. It was great publicity for us.

  3. I think a large part of our problem is that education is not stressed near enough in the home. Students go to school, learn, then go home to parents who are more into who they are going to vote for on American Idol than what their kids are learning in school or the homework they have due the next day. That, and there is virtually no way a kid can fail because teachers are hamstrung with minimum grades. Didn't do your homework? No problem, you still get a 70! Why try, when you know you're going to be passed anyway? Then, when a student is somehow failing, 90% of the time the parents show up to the school to piss on the teachers, not their student who is failing... Our education system is not perfect, but majority of the problems are at home.

  4. I'm not bowing down to the guy that rebuilt the cannon just so that he can have the right to be cynical to every decision made at North Texas. Furthermore, I can be critical of whoever I want. This is a forum. If the AD saw as many negative comments the FFR posts on here then I'm positive they would relieve him of his duties. Negativity doesn't inspire anyone. Enthusiasm and positivity inspires people, not what Rick does. If FFR does so much for the program (care for BOOMER) then why not be a champion of the program vs. tear it down? I would think that FFR has so much time and money invested in this program that it would pain him to talk so negatively about it. That's just me. I'm all for anyone that is positive, excited, and involved with the school. Too many alums have no interest in our school because they aren't inspired to get involved by others. That's like letting T.O. ruin your team because he is a good athlete.

  5. Per ESPN, LSU cancelled practice today. Things are aligning for a Mean Grean victory. The road to a national championship starts in Baton Rouge! (to the critics, is that big time thinking?)

  6. Football is fun, right? As in a significant part of entertainment in the fall? The last time something caused me so much grief that I could think nothing good to say about it, I paid it off and divorced it. I refuse to obsess over trivial things in something that is fun.

  8. This doesn't depict my feelings at all. Those that hang out with me understand what I think, and where I hope this program goes. However, I see no need to complain, so very often, about a program that I wish such success for. Public bashing of everything this program does isn't solving anything. If you hate every move they make then watch someone else. That's how I feel about it.

  21. I just bought my subscription to Mean Green Premium and was looking through the archives of past games and watched some of the Rice game from 2010...It's amazing how far we've come in 2 years! Better coaching, better play calling, bigger players, faster players, better equipment, better attitude, world class facilities, world class technology - it doesn't even look like the same program! Just wanted to give a big thanks to RV and Mac for making this program something special again with tons of potential and a bright future. Best of luck this season to all of the players, coaches, and staff as you represent the great University of North Texas! Can't wait until Saturday's kick off. GO MEAN GREEN!

  22. What? We're just saying this team has no room for Chelf-centered players.

  24. You Know Rick as a fan. I don't. Never met the guy. I think of him what he relates on this site. I was being facieses about relieving him of his duties.

  27. By that logic, how can Rick be critical of the Athletic Department since he has never worked for one?

  28. Yep. Complaining does nothing. Solutions are welcomed though.

  29. Ironically, you described FireFightnRick. For some reason though, on this message board, he likes to call out the bad things that are happening... I think it's an attempt to help, but it's really only causing strife within the hardcore fans. We've already lost some great posters/friends with this mindset. We're all on the same team though. Are there things that can be done differently? Maybe, but that doesn't mean things are horrible at UNT. We've still got a long way to go. The same apathy that alumns feel to the football program is the same apathy we often charge Denton with, and the students as well. For the record, I think we are on a very fast track versus where we were even when the NO Bowl streak was occurring. I think the GOOD things Rick & the staff are doing far outweigh the bad things.

  31. I'd also like to add that you can't be critical of FFR unless you at least donate at the Platinum level to the MGC. If you don't meet any of those prerequisites, then keep your mouth shut. /Sarcasm.

  36. While I am skeptical that they would ever play in Denton, 1) We need to invite them anyways. Do not show anyone we are beneath that. 2) The notion (as stated in their thread) that they cannot afford the hypotheitcally lost revenue seems laughable to me?

  44. I'm really sorry about what i'm going to say, if this program is not doing good or something, or it is not strong enough; keep in mind that it is like that because of people and fans like you. North Texas needs support support support in everything; Donations, joining the club, promoting, talking positive, proud fans, proud alums and people who would die for their school. Go Mean Green
