  1. Dodge is responsible for a lot of things. This is not one of them.

  2. I am new to GOMEANGREEN and look forward to talking sports with you kids. My wife and I both went to UNT and we live in Denton still. Currently, I am starting my last semester in grad school at TCU. It has been great there, but UNT and Denton is where my heart is. Too many frat boys and rich tools at TCU. I am covered in tattoos and those TCU kids do not know what to think of me. The football and baseball team are the best things about that school and I have had fun watching them play. When I am done there I have recieved a scholarship to continue my graduate studies at UNT in the spring, and I can not wait. I worked at Lucky Lou's for three years and have managed Rubber Gloves for about 6 years. So, I am sure I have either gotten most of you drunk or been drunk with you guys. I believe UNT will go 7 and 5 this year and I am looking forward to going to watch them win whatever bowl they go to. Does that sound crazy? Also, why does UNT not have any of those rubber braclets? They could make a killing of them. I know I would buy a few. See you cats later.

  3. Wow. Tulsa brings OU 2 hours east to play a 2 for 1, and we sell games to Iowa. Scheduling really, really, really needs to be upgraded. We have been screwing the pooch over and over again in this area. BY FAR the weakest point of the athletic department.

  6. Jamize was at UNT for 2 years. In 2010, his first year at the FBS level, he played in 11 out of 12 games--Dodge was HC for just over half that season. That year, Jamize had 6 receptions for 79 yards. In 2011, after a year of experience under his belt, he played in 2 games. 2. And he had 2 receptions for 9 yards. The argument could certainly be made that he was not used enough in 2010. But what does that say about 2011? And if "Todd Dodge" is at all the correct answer to question to which you responded, it's pretty obvious that it can't be the primary answer.

  7. I know we are full, but Ron Patterson just got released from IU (grades) and would be immediately available to play this year. Seems like a really solid player.

  8. We've let a decent smack talk thread degrade to throwing the Green Brigade under the bus. Sometimes I wonder how the program survives with our fickle fan base.

  9. I don't want to schedule SEC teams. Give me a schedule full of teams that we have a chance at beating all day. That's how Boise got to where it is. Once we get to that point where we're clobbering the Idahos of the world then we'll move up the scheduling rungs

  10. Ahh Dr. Seuss. So young. So graced by the sweet bird of youth. One day you too will be less kick ass like the rest of us. One day you will no longer be rubbing elbows with the athletes we discuss or the young girls we ogle.... C'est la vie

  14. For the record, I gave less because I could. It makes much more sense for me to put extra to pay off my house than it does to give extra right now. I feel no shame in taking advantage of a program that is extended to all grads for 5 yrs post graduation. If any of you don't like it then feel free to pay my mortgage for me and I will give more. I go to games, events, I give, Ipurchase bricks, coins, merchandise, and participate anywhere I can. I play chief recruiter at my office, and brings people to games with me. Giving $10,000 and bitching non-stop doesn't help the program as much as giving $100 and being a public champion for the MEAN GREEN! Some of you guys have piss poor attitudes about everyting. If you are saying "is this dude talking to me?" then YES I'm talking to you. GMG

  16. Interesting that you throw out SEC teams as your straw man KRAM. Of course getting Florida, Tennessee or even LSU to Apogee is a major stretch...but nobody is begging for that extreme. Where is Tech, Baylor, Ok State or even TCU in this discussion? Would a Wake Forest, Conneticut, Illinois or Washington like a trip into Texas? All of these seem like phone calls you gotta at least make. And,yes, Indiana was a Great OOC opponent. Patting RV on the back for acknowledging this dreadful schedule is like my wife acknowledging that I was up front about my mistress. Neither is gonna entice people to stay on board for the long haul. Do you eve ask yourself how we're the only team around that can't line up the attractive home and homes? Does our phone not dial the numbers that UTSA, SMU, UCF, TULSA or TCU's do? Or do we give a free pass because we acknowledge our poor OOCschedule that I have still not heard one word about promotions for?

  17. The difference being Tulsa is playing a top 10 team at home. Something we have never done, at least in the modern era, anyway.
    2 points
  18. Interesting that I see a lot of complaints on the board about North Texas having to play top 10 teams, yet Tulsa makes it a goal to play a top 10 team each year. Not saying I necessarily have a strong preference either way, it's just interesting.

  19. KRAM, I agree with you on a lot of things, but this isn't one of them. We have NEVER had a marque opponent play in a stadium on the UNT campus. We were told Apogee would change that (or at least the inference definitely wasn't discouraged). It was terrible planning to have only 5 home games in the 2nd season of Apogee, with the only OOC being a FCS school. Horrible. And that is on the athletic department. Tulsa is able to get a 2 for ! from freaking OU, while we give games away to Iowa??? Surely you can see the difference between those 2 programs (Iowa and OU). Yet we give games away to the lesser program while Tulsa gets a home game from OU? You want better attendance? Play someone at home (where you might actually have a chance for an upset) that matters on the national stage. ULM has done it, UCF has done it (scheduled freaking UT for their stadium opening), yet we are supposed to be happy with freaking Houston and a pathetic Indiana? New conference should equal new standards. Not seeing it from the athletic department in scheduling. Hopefully, by some major miracle, there is a change.

  20. So people who don't think like you are discriminatory? From Websters online: Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on his or her membership - or perceived membership - in a certain group or category. It involves the group's initial reaction or interaction, influencing the individual's actual behavior towards the group or the group leader, restricting members of one group from opportunities that are available to a group, leading to the exclusion of the individual or entities based on logical or irrational decision making.[1] So you would basically discriminate against the groups you mentioned from their right to push for the causes that they believe in? And punish Chik Fil A for the same? Here is some news for you. The vast majority of Americans are against gay marriage. Does that make them discriminatory toward gays? No. It means they want the definition of marriage protected. Civil Unions? Go for it. But not gay marriage. Of course, that's not good enough for in-your-face organizations like the LGBT, who want everyone to accept their ideas as the new normal, when they are ANYTHING but that. Where is your outrage for groups like the LGBT, who consisently attempt to jam legislation down the throats of a MAJORITY of Americans that don't want that legislation? Where is your outrage for THEIR discrimination? Oh, that's right, they agree with your opinion. The hugely liberal state of California twice passed marriage definition laws. That's California. But organizations like the LGBT won't accept this, and lobby to get the laws overturned. Why? Because they DEMAND that you accept their sexuality. Personally, I wish they would keep their sexuality where most heterosexuals keep it; in the privacy of their own personal life. But NOOOOOOOOO... There is an agenda to be pushed!!!

  21. Had a GREAT time at the Cookout last night! But, then always have a good time at UNT events...I guess I go with the attitude that it will be fun instead of going to look for something I can complain about. Met some new folks and new Mean green fans that I had not had the privilege of meeting before. One mentioned that he had heard about the poster event and was impressed that UNT had the sort of fans that would do this sort of thing voluntarily for the program. So, once more...to all who helped with that project...many thanks and your efforts are obviously not going un-noticed! I thought the idea to move it to the Club Level was not so cool at first, but when the talks by RV and Coach mac started...at the announced time I might add...I thought it was a great idea. Really easy to hear and the crowd looked really nice filling up most of the Club level area...even in that weather. mac was his usual energetic self and RV made some comments regarding future schedules and joining conference USA that I thought were excellent. One comment that had me laughing to myself the rest of the evening was the fact that TCU is playing Grambling at home this year! I did not know that and it just made me laugh knowing all the comments that have been made about UNT opening with Texas Southern. Made my event...well, that and all the great Mean green fans I saw and talked with. Got to chat with some players and coaches including Mike Petersen, our new women's basketball coach. Saw Mean green fans there from Tyler, Allen, Ennis, Grand Prairie, Carrollton, Dallas, Ft. Worth, etc. who braved the weather to make the event. Heck, lots of Mean green fans there with kiddos...even so small that they still ride in strollers...good to see you Lucas! I hope they enjoyed the evening as much as my bride and I did. Even my bride, not one to love such events as much as I do, talked about how much she enjoyed this one...that's in spite of the fact that the Pope never did make an appearance (sorry...some will get that comments, others not so much). But, I'll take Mac, RV and Mike anytime! Overall...a great way to spend a rainy Saturday evening in Denton. My sincere appreciation to all who braved the elements and made their way to Apogee last evening...if anyone sees the Pope tell him he missed a great evening! Thanks to RV and Company for another fun evening with the Mean Green Nation!

  22. We don't know that Benford kicked him off the team. Benford might have been very frank with Trey, and told him that he has no chance whatsoever of playing time on this team, and that he will receive a full release if he so chooses. With the level of talent on this team now, Benford may have been doing him a favor so that he did not end up on a bench for most of his college career. Pure speculation on my part, but so is everything else in this thread.

  35. That is a very fair assessment of Tony based on his play last year, He did not show an NBA offensive game, and had a slow release on his jumper (requiring space in order to get the shot off), I'm sure he has worked hard and will be better this year. but to say he doesn't have an NBA offensive game based on last year's performance is nothing but dead on. Now, if only Tony could be convinced that he needed 2 full colllege seasons to develop that game...
