For this season, I decided to build my own Cornhole boards to add to the tailgaiting activities. It was a fun project to work on with my boys during the evenings when it wasn't 105 degrees. I actually scored the logos from the athletic department when I told them what I was planning to do. Another friend of mine has a sticker machine and made the stencils so I could paint on the logos. I went a little over the top with some green LED hole lights. I am now working on building and painting some 'can stands' for each board to hold some beverages...

Though I am sure some of you are going to view this as ironic, I started a facebook page today with a good friend of mine called Americans for Religious Tolerance. If you have a facebook and agree with the message, please do me a favor and like it and share it. I created it in response to the recent religiously motivated acts of violence and vandalism. Scott, you seem like a reasonable & intelligent person. You make a good argument. I do suggest that you should read beyond Rush & 'WattsUpWithThat?'. Read the summaries of the IPCC reports (e.g., http://www.ipcc.ch/p...esis_report.htm ), read the statements from the AAAS, the Royal Society, & the dozens of other national academies (links can be found at http://en.wikipedia...._climate_change ). Scientists aren't always right. In fact, science progresses, in part, by positing hypotheses that are subsequently proven wrong. But science has been shown to be our best tool for arriving at an understanding of reality. Good luck & thank God we're in cUSA.

Well, I'm an older fan that does very little social media and I'm not opposed to this program. I'll earn very few points since I can barely use my Facebook account and don't have a smartphone. But, anything that reaches the students and the younger crowd and gets them to react is great in my book. Finally, the marketing and promotion people on the AD staff are getting something going and I applaud them for it.

Idaho announced that they are joining the Big Sky for all sports but football. Football will be a Div 1 independent. No word on what New Mexico St will do. The WAC might struggle to survive as a non-football league. I have to believe that Idaho will drop back down to FCS in the near future. I can't see how they can survive long term being a Div 1 independent. I'm so glad North Texas is finally putting emphasis on athletics and we don't have to worry about these type of issues.

I know. I don't buy it. I dislike SMU as much as anyone here. But, they have been outrecruiting us on all fronts since June Jones took over. I think the Sunbelt is usually underrated. But, some of those rankings are just way too high.

I need the stencils you used to paint those logos. I made the same 2x4 framed set of boards over the summer and have been wracking my brain over how to get the logo right. How would someone without access to a sticker machine go about getting their hands on those logos/stencils?

No. My argument is with the science. That is exactly WHY I have a problem with the government action on the science. You accept as reality the premise of Man-Made global warming. I don't. As a result of our individual beliefs, we have differing opinions on government action or lack thereof. If it makes you feel better to classify folks who disagree with your conclusions as irrational, I guess that's your right, but rather close minded. This is a forum, not a thesis. I don't always have every article, book, website or forum I've read at my finger tips. ...though for this thread, I've posted images, links, etc for some things. Others, anyone can find if they want to use google. Frankly, I don't have the time or inclination to provide a bibliography in every thread I post in. ...and some things don't need a reference. Yes, and Doug McDermott from Creighton was a second teamer. If the team does very well and his game really picks up from what he showed last season, then I think he has a definite shot at it. First Team could be tough, but people aren't projecting him as a top 10 pick for nothing.

FAU's schedule is now showing the kickoff at 5p.m. eastern time. The game will be on ESPN3. I believe it was the only televized (if you consider ESPN3 a station) start time that had not been determined.

Assuming we have an even 4/4 8 game conference slate, we currently have 6 away and 5 home games, according to http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sun-belt/north-texas-mean-green.php I assume the lack of a 4th game means that we're going to buy a poop team at home, but that's just pure speculation. On a side note, we have SMU at home in 2014....YES! And we have to find a replacement for Tulsa in 2014 and 2015, seeing as we'll be in their conference.

There will be a lot of pundits who will pick MTSU and maybe even WKU over NT. There will also be some that pick NT just on the basis they have heard of Tony Mitchell. A lot do no other analysis than look at last years records and who returns. MTSU has everyone back but one and they were easily the highest rated Belt team last year. NT has a new coach, an unproven at the hc level. I do think most that really make an attempt at analysis will pick NT. No one will disagree that Mitchell is the best player in the league, other than Belt fans of other schools. Most of them agree, but there are still a few that seem to be in denial. I think what most don't realize the capability of the rest of the squad. If this team clicks, it should be the best team in the Belt at least as long as NT has been a member. Yes, I think it can be better than the WKU teams that went relatively deep in the NCAA,s.

Maybe I should find a bookie and place a bet that North Texas wins the belt? If they're over looking us I might as well turn that into a positive. I've asked the question for the last 3 years, but have never gotten a response. Last year would have been ideal w/ all the incoming freshman we had. It gives teams bonding experience & chemistry. History shows that teams who get to participate in these summers events start out much better than those who don't. If my memory is correct , MTSU played this past summer & FAU, Denver the year before I don't know if it's money or not, but I would guess even a trip to Canada would be pretty expensive As far as marketing this team so far , epic fail. If I wasn't such a huge fan I would have no idea how good this team is expected to be. IMO season ticket sales should have been made available to the public as soon as Benford was named Head Coach and/or Tony Mitchell announced he was staying. Had a co worker (someone who has only been To 1 UNT game) call ticket office right after TM said he was coming back only to be told to call back months later. Sorry, that can't happen. You have to capitalize on the opportunity. It's not too late to market Tony Mitchell and this team, but if we aren't making an effort for near sellouts it will be a huge dissappointment I think the students will show up for BB like never before , but we need to get the word out to the alumni & the DFW
