Also from that thread, "Many of us chose different board names over here. Too many in the Ath. Dept. knew what our gmg.com board names were." Maybe it's time for a little self-introspection when you've got to continuously switch user names on an internet message board so that nobody knows who you are?? Wow.5 points

Will if you think ancillary information is important to the debate, Cam came from Arkansas not OU. Not sure that changes much. Labeling any NT player a bust is suspect behavior in my view. Doing it before his sophomore year and based on that player not meeting your expectations based on a hs rating is even more questionable. About half of players signed significantly contribute to a program, its a numbers thing as much as talent. Would you rate the other half of the players bust, or is that reserved for only the highly touted at some point? The most touted player ever to sign with NT was Milton Collins. He was thought to be the next Earl Campbell and was regarded as the best rb in Texas. He has been labeled the biggest "bust" ever at NT; but he was far from it. He gave NT great publicity just by signing and although he never was a great runner; he ending playing 4 years and starting in the defensive line. Cam may or may not ever be a star or even a big contributor at NT, that remains to be determined. I am not sure it is appropriate to call anyone a "bust" that plays for NT, but at least give them a chance to suceed or fail before making that public determination.3 points

The lesson here, if there is one, is that these are 17-22 year old amateur athletes and we should be careful how we talk about them. Once they're pros making millions for playing a game then feel free to write whatever you like. Until then, calling someone 'a bust', especially anonymously, shows a lack of class.3 points

I'm shocked I made the list and my brother didn't. I'm not as bad at hi-jacking threads as he is. I do challenge people on their (sometimes) bad ideas that come across. See the Practice/Scrimmage thread as a prime example. If people don't like that; tough stuff. It really is CS though to go start another board, then hide behind new screen names and post negative about people. Really makes me want to stay with the program when we go all high school and start talking behind people's backs. I have a pretty good idea of who is who on that board. I got a good laugh out of JayDub not getting invited ... he posts on this site so frequently.3 points

Call Jessica at 940-369-8916. you are eligible for a recent grad price on the MGC too. I graduated in 2010. last year I gave $500, but I didn't know about recent grad pricing. This year I only had to give $75 for the same benefits as I got for the $500. Full access to the hospitality room for men and women's bball games and everything.3 points

Your constant negativity astounds me, given you're someone who lives and dies for this program. You remind me of Boston sports fans. "If the Patriots don't win by 35 and Tom Brady doesn't throw for 400 yards and 5 TD's every week, he's a bum and Brian Hoyer needs to be put in, and Belichick should be fired. For good measure, let's blow up Gillette Stadium and rebuild the old stadium to relive the glory days of going 3-13."-the thought process of Boston sports fans. That is what you remind me of.3 points

I think Dr. Seuss is just "putting in the call", per se. Not necessarily saying "He's already busted", but that "He won't be as good as everyone expects in the future". I don't think there's anything wrong with that. What's odd is that he reminds us about it at every turn, almost as if he's glad Cam may fail. If anything, he's a success, since because of him, his brother is here and appears to be the lock for our starting C for years to come.2 points

It's very high school not entertaining. It's more annoying than anything. Some of the same people that bitch about wanting a top tier program are the ones that treat it like a high school program. If you want to be respected as a "grown-up" program then act like it. Starting another board just so you can complain about the other is like breaking away from the church to start your own sect that despises the main body. It doesn't do anyone any good. They end up weakening each other, and hurting the "club"2 points

This all really boils down to posting a message on a message board and that message being posted on another message board, then a member of that message board taking offense to the message and posting a message back to the original messenger. So glad I decided to adopt UNT because this is very entertaining.2 points

It would be great fun to "out" those negative grump buckets on the other board...but, everyone...including the AD staffers...know exactly who they are...it's funny that they continue to pat each other on the back about what great fans they are, while knocking everything about the program and its fan base every chance they get. And, let us not forget...threatening to withhold support at every opportunity. Of course, all the while claiming to be the only true and best fans of UNT and the Mean Green. With "friends" like these, does the program and UNT need any enemies? How in the Sam Hill did I not make their list? They seem to still mention me on a pretty regular basis and always in such a kind manner...I wear that crap as a badge of honor as I am sure all the "listed" folks do. Grant, fear not...you have plenty of company...your support of the program and UNT is known and should serve as a guideline for other young grads. I, for one, appreciate your enthusiasm and your support for the Mean Green. UNT could use a lot more young grads exactly like you! Thanks. And.......... Welcome to the club...2 points

this is an email I got from that other board. Start at the bottom. Obviously, I'm a marked man now. Oh well, I pissed off way more important people in my life. Grant.UNT Message subject: Re: Unbelievable Folder: whoever "you guys" are, you get all worked up over nothing. So much negativity in one thread, and nobody had any facts about the situation. If you weren't sure enough that you're in good company, Grant, know that we're all "tards" together!!! http://meanandgreen.freeforums.org/the-other-board-t102.html And yes... almost all of them still post over here and S&M themselves to miserable ecstasy with NT sports. what does "Lulz" mean, and why would they hate me? so the recent grad program is a 5 year program that started last year. anyone who graduates can join and get the benefits of the MGC. it goes on for 5 years after you graduate. it goes up every year by $25 so that at the end you are at the lowest level of MGC membership which is $125. It is retro active back to 2008, as well. Pretty awseome plan to get recent grads on board and to start giving!! Kuddos to whoever thought of this.2 points

I just called the ticket office and got right through. They said the tickets will be sent out within the next week and a half. They are just waiting for them to come in from the printer. The number is 1-800-868-2366 and they are open 8am-5pm M-F. I personally don't remember ever having problems getting a hold of someone in the ticket office. Maybe I'm just lucky.2 points

That's such a retarded way to look at things. The whole idea behind trying to reduce our carbon footprint is to leave our ancestors a better planet to live on. If there are no children, there is no point. It isn't like the Earth is going to blow up in 5 years, odds are it will still be livable throughout our lifetime. But to suggest that having children while changing your lifestyle to be more environmentally friendly is hypocrisy, is absurd. Continuing our life as a species is not a bad thing for the environment, in fact that is what happens in nature. Life forms reproduce. We are a life form. That is what the point of life is. I understand that the US lifestyle is ridiculously consumptive. That's the whole point in changing one's lifestyle, to go against that. I don't understand how that can be difficult to comprehend. Change starts with a single person. If the US is going to change, people are going to have to change before it's the popular thing to do. Now, changing your life to be more environmentally friendly may not make as much of an impact as not having children, but in the long run, having the normal amount of children (you know, 1-4, not like 19 like the idiots who have that TV show), and teaching them to be environmentally conscious and to care about the planet they live on leads to a pretty damn positive impact. Making the world more environmentally friendly should be the single biggest concern humanity has, regardless of the validity of man-made climate change. How, in any way, is cleaning up our planet ever a bad idea? Only bad can come of ignoring our impact, and only good can come from changing it.2 points

Deep...no one asked us to do anything. This was simply a pure volunteer effort by a few folks willing to give of their time to try to do something positive for UNT and the Mean Green. I think most...MOST...fans of UNT appreciated the effort made. Even if they didn't...and we all know there are a certain few that did not...we all had a great time and were well received around the community.1 point

Twisting words and making accusations seems to be your forte. Congratulations. I've used nothing but legitimate science. If you disagree with fundamental biology's claim that the PRIMARY (NOT THE ONLY) purpose of life is to reproduce, then go get a doctorate degree in biology, find a university that will fund your research, and prove it wrong. That's my response to point 1. Point 2: That is true, but is not my argument. I don't even know how you can even assume that I am trying to link point 1 with point 2 here. That doesn't even make sense, given the direction of my arguments. Point 3: I never said that was the case, either. You really have been doing some skim reading, huh? I've said, multiple times in fact, that CO2 emissions may have little effect on climate change, or it may have a huge effect. We do not know, which is why we are researching it. However, regardless of it's impact on the climate, no good can come from changing the chemistry of the atmosphere. If you disagree with that, then you're not very bright. If you don't understand how adding CO2 and taking away trees changes the chemistry of the atmosphere, again, you're not very bright. It isn't like I am using complex science here man. This is basic stuff. I don't need a PhD in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Fluid Dynamics, Atmospheric Sciences, and Anal Fermenting to comprehend that messing with something as delicate as the atmosphere is not the best idea. Point 4: I never said that, or even remotely came close to saying that. I have stated that if man is effecting climate change in a negative way, and we continue doing so, the consequences probably aren't going to be good. But, I never even came close to saying what you claim I did. Point 5: Right, more illogical conclusions based upon things you think I said in the posts you hardly read. Want my actual thoughts in a point by point format? 1) The primary function of life is to reproduce and survive, this includes human beings. 2) Human beings are negatively effecting the atmosphere with their overly consumptive behaviors, and pollute the planet to an extreme amount. (Quick note, the highest point in RI is the Johnston Landfill...) 3) Humans pumping ridiculous amounts of unnecessary CO2 (non breathing CO2) into the atmosphere, along with their other forms of polluting, may or may not be a leading factor in the climate change we are seeing currently, and overpopulation does not help this issue. 4) Overpopulation will solve itself, as it always does in nature, but humans can help keep their planet livable and healthy by reducing the amount of CO2 and other pollutants that they release into the atmosphere, into the water, and over the land. 5) If humans do not change their ways, and pollution continues to grow at an exponential rate, the Earth will eventually become uninhabitable for human (and most other) life. Me, I think there is a big point. Just because we don't know how much of an impact we are having on climate change doesn't mean we should ignore the fact that we are ruining the Earth in more ways than one. If our CO2 issues aren't causing any problems now, how about in ten years when another 60 billion trees will have been cut down, the Earth's population is beyond 10 billion, and the number of automobiles has tripled due to the industrialization of mainland China, India, among others? If we start changing now, before there is no known problem, isn't that better than waiting until there is a problem?1 point
