Overcussing is a sign of immaturity. Adding a cuss word to the school fight song is a sign of disrespect for those came before you and just blatant stupidity. I'm with KRAM here. Be apart of the solution. Stop it. It doesn't sound cool, just crude and moronic.2 points

If that's the case than that makes this a lot better. But, at the same time, even cutting the cost in half to make it a still crazy $30 million, that's a lot of extra money going to more important things. I really hope they did some legitimate research to see if they can get a return on their investment. Even if they were far and away the best 5A program in the state that dominated yearly, publicity with a public high school program isn't going to do so much. I don't know, I guess I just kind of find it a silly waste. Did they really need an indoor golf practice facility? Did they need to add a 75 foot HD scoreboard? It just seems so superficial for a high school team. This blows most D2 college teams' stadiums out of the water.2 points

I'm not assuming they had $60 million just lying around, nor am I arguing that the money should go to education. I'm pointing out how sad it is that, as a society, we can justify spending that insane amount of money on high school football. They got $60 million somewhere, I believe it was in bonds. I'm just kind of disturbed at the fact that $60 million can be spent on something so unimportant. It isn't like they didn't have a stadium that seated a large amount of people already. If they had some low-rate joke of a stadium for a Texas 5A team that only seated 500 people and was falling apart, then building one would be important (not $60 million important though). But they had a stadium that sat 14K people. If it's old, renovate it. Spend a couple million on it to pretty it up. You don't need to build a 18K capacity stadium with a 75 foot HD video scoreboard. Christ, this stadium is nicer than Texas State's. Anyone that used that argument at UNT is either high or an ignoramus. The situation is totally different, as I'm sure you understand. UNT is a tier 2 public research university with 36,000 students, and a division 1 football team that gives out scholarships to athletes. Allen is a public high school. The fact that they spent 2/3 the amount we did on a new stadium is disturbing.2 points

UNT needs to get a liquor license plain and simple. The amount of money the school would make from all the events on campus would be huge. Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, (Baseball) Music concerts haven't happened at Appogee because we don't have the liquor license Eric Capper ,Senior AD, has posted links on his twitter of how U of Minnesota just got their liquor license for this season. Maybe he is pushing to get the same for Appogee. Tailgate at The Hill Party at Appogee Win at Appogee After Party at The Hill2 points

I think we need to fill that thing up by giving away tickets. The AD could figure out a reasonable conversion rate from the tickets they give away. Let's say they give away 30,000 tickets and 2,000 actually use them for a non-marquis game. These people will have to pay for parking and concessions so it really isn't a loss of revenue for people that weren't going anyway. Maybe a few cheapos will find a way to get these tickets who intended on attending anyway but it is crucial for this program to get butts in seats. I'm guessing the Wing holds about 8K - 10K people so give away 100,000 tickets. Just figure out the formula. In the extremely unlikely event of a sell out because of giving away too many tickets, say you are sorry and give them tickets to the next 2 games and credit for some concessions. It would be a bummer but it is more important to start filling up the App. Just figure something out in this unlikely event. Groups you could give to and feel good about: DISD - hey little kid, how many family members do you have? Four? Ok, here's four tickets. City of Denton - see DISD Religious Organizations (Have it be The First, Second, Third, and Fourth Babtist Church's of Denton night at Apogee) Youth Sports Leagues Your own donor/season ticket holder base - give them 20 extra tickets to give away to family and friends. I idea is to start this with the hopes of eventually having to stop this because the more people you expose to a great college game day atmosphere the more will want to come back - paying on their own. Please give me your feedback. I will go to the AD with this if you convince me this is not hairbrained.1 point

Is anyone making their way down to Houston for the game on October 6th? That would be a close easy trip for a road game. I've never traveled to another stadium and was thinking that would be a good opportunity. Will we have a tailgate section there?1 point

TCU Student Comment: Awesome! Go Frogs!! Big 12!! WooHoo! UNT Student Comment: Seriously?? We could have spent that money on education! The lab band has no instruments, my desk in class is falling apart, and the Albino squirrel society needs somewhere to meet! I am SOOOO glad you are spending my tuition money on lockers for football! And what's with that new bridge you all built too? Because the old bridge wasn't good enough for all the rich white men to cross over to watch their barbaric sporting event that does nothing but condone and affirm violence? How much did that cost, a trillion dollars?.....etc.....1 point

sorry, I know this isn't football related, but I don't know where it would go. We are all in to the same stuff, for the most part. that being said, why don't we have "stuff for sale" section?? I'm on a few other forums and they all have "garage sale" area. I'm trying to empty out a man cave, and I'm sure some guys here would be in to the things I'm selling. Can I post my CL link here? http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/clt/3187860776.html1 point

This is a bit high in my opinion... In the last five years LSU has played 9 out of conference games against "mid-major" or FCS opponents... 2011: Northwestern St. (FCS) 49-3 Western Kentucky 42-9 2010: McNeese St. 32-10 Louisiana-Monroe 51-0 2009: Louisiana-Lafayette 31-3 Louisiana Tech 24-16 2008: Appalachian St. 41-13 North Texas 41-3 Troy 40-31 So, in the last five years LSU has covered a 43 point difference against lesser non-conference opponents twice... Once in 2011 against FCS Northwestern St. and once in 2010 against Louisiana-Monroe... They didn't even do it in 2008 against us when we were 1-11 and were beaten 77-20 by Rice... Les Miles teams don't run scores up and sometimes play down to their opponent... 43 points, in lieu of recent history, seems high... Having said that, they definitely have the talent to cover that and more...1 point

I like it. How about skying over the line and dunking through the uprights in one motion, scoring a touchdown without his feet ever touching the endzone.1 point

East Carolina signed a 6-8, 325 JUCO OT. I would like to have Garett on the team. Souther Miss signed a 6-6, 290 DT. Garret could match up against the S Miss DT.1 point

I would 100% without hesitation prefer my daughter smoke pot in college rather than drink alcohol. And I REALLY would prefer she smoke pot than pop prescription pills that some quack gave her a scrip for. Lord I detest pill poppers and their indignant self righteousness because they went doc shopping until they find someone willing, so now its legal. As for cheating, the only way I could see marijuana giving one team an edge over the other is if the sport is competitive chili dog eating.1 point

Yes, a "tradition" that shows absolutely ZERO class and one I hope goes away very quickly. Stormchaser, how about you being one to help send it to the trash bin where it belongs? Stuff like that is what helps some folks think poorly about UNT and the Mean Green and does not help. Edit: has nothing to do with age, has everything to do with class and respect.1 point

We (Athletics) don't own the snake pit. It is not an option. We (Athletics) own a perfectly good building right across the street from the facility where the kids go to get treatment, where they go to lift weights, and next door to their academic center. There is a certain bridge that is being constructed which makes this a manageable walk from Mozart if needed. Both basketball coaches are super excited about this, and yes we (the committee) already have almost all of the money to do both right now. (Practice facility is covered with current commitments and jumbotron is getting close) If anyone would like to contribute to this project they can PM me on this board, or they can call Dan Johnston. We (our committee which Ernie is the chair) are taking five year pledges or lump sum gifts. Be part of the solution. This facility is going to be first class all of the way. And yes, it is connected to the indoor practice facility for golf (which by the way Ernies says is better than any facility any of his kids went to which include Arizona State, Ok. State, SMU and Texas) and the womens softball offices which have indoor batting facilities. David This post has been promoted to an article1 point

One of the challenges UNT has had in the past was the lack of quality facilities. That notion still exists within the general HS population. It is extremely important to get potential players and their families on the UNT campus so they can see the great facilities UNT now has. These are one evening events...it's not time for "girl watching or chasing"...but they do have some Cheer Squad members and I think dance team members show up...that's plenty good right there, yes? Kids want to play in great facilities in front of great crowds...UNT has the facilities, and is working on the crowds....1 point
