We (Athletics) don't own the snake pit. It is not an option. We (Athletics) own a perfectly good building right across the street from the facility where the kids go to get treatment, where they go to lift weights, and next door to their academic center. There is a certain bridge that is being constructed which makes this a manageable walk from Mozart if needed. Both basketball coaches are super excited about this, and yes we (the committee) already have almost all of the money to do both right now. (Practice facility is covered with current commitments and jumbotron is getting close) If anyone would like to contribute to this project they can PM me on this board, or they can call Dan Johnston. We (our committee which Ernie is the chair) are taking five year pledges or lump sum gifts. Be part of the solution. This facility is going to be first class all of the way. And yes, it is connected to the indoor practice facility for golf (which by the way Ernies says is better than any facility any of his kids went to which include Arizona State, Ok. State, SMU and Texas) and the womens softball offices which have indoor batting facilities. David This post has been promoted to an article5 points

I'm a big believer in achievable goals and selling out an fcs game isn't realistic. When was the last sell out? Baylor in 2003? The game is the main product, game day is the secondary product. It hard to overcome the fact that we're playing a team many fans don't want to see. A better approach would be "operation fan". What could we do and coordinate as fans to increase attendance. Sure a sell out is the long trerm goal, but it's not achievable out of gate. Especially against a bad fcs school.3 points

I'm not sure how marijuana enhances performance and should therefore cause TCU to be called cheaters, but I do hope the kid learns from this experience and that it makes him a better husband and father in the long run.2 points

I think giving away large amounts of tickets decreases the value of the product on the field. Whatever the athletic department does should center around adding value to the program. Our attendance will naturally increase once we move to C-USA. Our fans want to see us play Tulsa, Rice, and UTEP, and I think their fans will show up better then the Sun Belt teams did. I'm not saying we should set back and do nothing. I just don't believe giving away large amounts of tickets is the best strategy. I think getting more posters up around town helps add value to our program and will help to get more people to the games. Personally, I think the lower half of the Wingzone should be sectioned off for crazy, loud students. I'd like to see it filled with students that will paint their faces, or wear a green cape, or a green Darth Vader helmet, and yell as loud as they can every time the oponent gets into the red zone on that side of the field. When games are on T.V. that section will get on T.V. more than others, and be fun to watch while we are winning.2 points

Thanks for the article. But, he's confused about Christianity as well. He's talking Christianity, but - as with the gal in the video - falls back into Old Testament examples. He also gives a New Testament example were Sadducees tried to trick Jesus regarding what human relationships would be like in Heaven. In the exchange, Jesus does not endorse polygamy, he simply tells them they have no idea what they are talking about: Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. To try to site that as an example of the acceptance of polygamy is to simply mistate the scriptures. Or, worse, to not understand the context. I feel really bad for people who are under this author's ministry. His interpretation of the letters of Paul are nothing more than a mockery. To elavate Lady Gaga onto a level of Paul is absurd. This author is a person who is misleading people. Sadly. But, again, there are "Christians" who mislead people. It's really simple, but homosexuals do not like it: Jesus, from Matthew 19: 4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? This isn't confusing. It's really straightforward. Paul, from Ephesians 5: 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” Again, this wasn't complicated or confusing to Paul. There are people claiming to be Christian who rebel against the teachings of Jesus and Paul. They use the cover of "everyone has sinned." And, yes, everyone has sinned. But, the measure of a person striving to be a Christian is whether they are repenting of those sins and attempting to live a better life without those sins in their lives. As stated before, homosexual do not view their actions as sinful and are not attempting to repent of them. This is resistance to the first steps toward Christianity - recognizing sin and repenting of it. Nowhere in the gospel of Jesus, or in the letter's of Paul, do you read, "It's okay to keep sinning because we all sin." Again, Paul address this in his letter to the Romans, 6th Chapter: What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! This author of the piece your offer is in rebellion against the scripture he purports to proclaim. And, he encourages his readers to join him in his rebellion. Not good stuff.2 points

We're throwing out ideas and such because you still haven't told us a single thing about what anyone can do. How can we do anything towards your plan if you don't tell us what the F it is? I'm not trying to sound like a douche. I'm 100% behind you with this idea. But you haven't given us a shred of knowledge on what we can do, how we can do it, who we should talk to, etc.1 point

I think this translates to most end-zone seating at any stadium. The sight lines are just not as good unless the Mean Green are about to score right in front of you. I think I read a story somewhere that LaDanian Tomlinson always sat in end zone seats when he was young so he could watch how running plays unfolded. I don't think we'll have many LT types in the end zone section, so it's great for bandwagon fans and the Family Fun Pack fans. Let's just hope for the excessive winning to start this season so we can get the rest of the sideline seating sold out and people will desire to get into the game regardless of where they sit, which will have to be the wingzone.1 point

What if we allowed all students in for free? Surely giving away 38,000 tickets is a great way to fill up a 30,000-seat stadium.1 point

There's two threads going about getting the stadium filled. I think it'd be good to target the 10/16 ULaLa game for one of these. On a Tues night with national TV should be a good way to get tons of students at the game.1 point

I work at Texas Motor Speedway and this is exactly the mind set when you do give away a lot of tickets. I have actually talked on the phone to people who complain "Y'all used to give away tickets, now you want me to buy them?!" Just because you give someone something for free doesn't mean they'll be grateful or want to to pay for it later.1 point

The idea to give away ticket to increase awareness and bring in new fans, is a great idea other than I've seen it tried at NT many many times. I am sure it may bring a few fans but overall; it just doesn't work other than to cheapen your product.1 point

While I understand your premise, here are a few thoughts as to why the free giveaway is a BAD idea... if you can wait for the freebies, why even buy season tickets (or single games, for that matter) at all? <-- this is the well-documented reason that those folks in waco have never been able to sell out. They are known to give away free tickets, thus upsetting their season ticket holders and as a result, reducing their paying-base. $$ is what builds a program. Adults should never be given free tickets (outside of a possible military/FF/police appreciation day). However, the idea of having a Denton ISD night is really good and should be pursued. Giving away concessions and 2 free tickets because your free ticket was sold out is also a BAD idea. The idea to give free tickets away was supposed to bring in money and your remedy suggested hemorrhaging money by giving away concessions1 point

UNT needs to get a liquor license plain and simple. The amount of money the school would make from all the events on campus would be huge. Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, (Baseball) Music concerts haven't happened at Appogee because we don't have the liquor license Eric Capper ,Senior AD, has posted links on his twitter of how U of Minnesota just got their liquor license for this season. Maybe he is pushing to get the same for Appogee. Tailgate at The Hill Party at Appogee Win at Appogee After Party at The Hill1 point

And, here we have the typical UNT fan response to just about everything......."let someone else do it". Seems Mr. Kuehne is doing quite a lot already...how about some others stepping up to simply join the Mean Green Club and be part of the solution instead of always waiting for someone else to do it...and then complain about what that other person does or how they do it. It does not matter how much, but rather it matters simply "if". Just a note here: I am not in any way pointing any fingers at mean green D here as I have no clue...nor should I have a clue as it is none of my business...how much or if mean green D donates...my response is just a general response to the many many so-called Mean green fans who make this their mantra..."let someone else do it while I complain, make make negative comments about those who do and while I sit on the sidelines on my rear end making up every lame excuse in the world why I don't help." EDIT: Just as an example ...I had several people tell me in emails, on the phone or in person that they would join the Mean Green Club during this year's Mean Green Club Volunteer Rep Campaign period only to have them not do so......yep, "let someone else do it".....1 point

And, until this fan base actually starts buying what UNT merchandise there IS for sale in the metroplex and other places, the day we see tons of UNT merchandise available for sale will NEVER come. That includes students on UNT's very own campus who continue to wear jerseys and mercahndise displaying other university logos and names as well as fans and alums. The folks who sell this stuff are, believe it or not, in the business of making a profit...if they can actually profit from sales of UNT gear and mercahndise, they will carry it! Now, that being said...the UNT bookstore and the Apogee store (run by the UNT Bookstore I am told...so actually one in the same) should have a bigger and better variety of merchandise NOW. But, again, people must them be willing to buy it...and not jst a few diehard fans here on GMG.Com. I share your pain in this.1 point

A good friend of mine works at Mozart and talks to Tony pretty frequently. The other day he saw Tony in the dorm and said he liked his shirt. Tony took the shirt off his back and gave it to him. My friend sent me a picture of the shirt and it was a Nike A'Mare Skills Academy Shirt. The kid has a good heart.1 point
