None of you will get this because you've chosen to specifically avoid an entire population to feel safe. It's cool - I did it too for years. This whole Quoner bit was a giant experiement because of the way a few of you drooling objectified female athletes and spoke creepily of a certain all-time great WR at the same time. This was going to be a couple of cheap jokes and move on - but then the funniest thing happened. The same people who loved golf cart girls and big fat tittays were so damn offended by this absurdist push that they complained everywhere they could. They bitched at Harry. They sent me threats. They started other forums. THINK OF THE CHILDREN and MY KIDS READ THIS BOARD and LOOK AT THAT DUMB FAG all became okay responses from the same people who cherished the perfect shot of a 19 year-old dancer arching her back perfectly at the end of her routine. Reading this thread, no one wants a conversation - they want to lecture, pander for +1s from the same 5 people who agree and shut down debate. We have to all be dumb kids to disagree -- let alone that there is an entire group now in their late 20s/early 30s that pays taxes, works in decent jobs and donates the same amount as many of you to the program. Sadly, these are just dumb, irresponsible kids that will never have the biblical acumen of noted Frisco scholar or reporductive biologist TFLF. If the government was demanding churches force gay marriages, I would completely agree with any an all opposition, but this is simply a public union. Listening to several divorced conservatives preach the sanctity of marriage is just absurd at this point. Shit happens on all fronts, but I just can't picture the God I believe in and worship every Sunday saying "wait, wait, those people over there, let's hang back and hope they go away if we aren't nice to them." If you have a problem with homosexuality, totally cool. As tolerant as I like to think I am, aspects of it still weird me out. Boycotting or supporting a company over it is insanely stupid and we will all forget about CFA soon, but everyone will remain distracted another few weeks as the election gets closer. However, I wonder what would Jesus do about all of this? He'd probably, you know, associate with homosexuals, Christians and other sinners alike. He'd befriend them, He'd support them, He'd likely learn about their pain, their joy and their hopes. It's that whole love your neighbor thing again. The man stopped the stoning of a women doing things he very much disagreed with and, without being a dick about it, said go and sin no more. He didn't demand anything of her and didn't put any conditions on that love. I'm not saying go out and hug the nearest gay dude, but since we've had students, posters and even scholarship athletes roll through this school having to treat this as a shameful secret, maybe trying a little tolerance in the rhetoric might be a good thing? I don't know - at the very least I'm hoping Greenmachine will call me a queer and make fun of any girls I know.13 points

I don't mean to step in here and be GMG.com neighborhood watchdog, but I cannot see how this does not merit some sort of ban. Ridiculous. You've been a real instigator lately.6 points

Of course she sinned again. She sinned probably thousands of times. Maybe she really enjoyed unwed sexual relations and never let go of that. Maybe she liked to cuss. Maybe she liked to throw pebbles at lepers. It's all possible. If Jesus knew he could walk up to her, say those words and have it be cool, he wouldn't have needed to die. Sins are flaunted all the time by people who really want to be right with God. It's fallen nature, and if you're going to focus on publlic displays of a behavior everyone knows is sinful, I hope you'll be tightening the screws on everyone who overindulges next St. Patrick's Day or even around the tailgate lots this fall. This just bothers people more because it is a cultural and social change and these types of things never go well. I'm not arguing for anyone to change views on sexuality, just stop demonizing this group of people. I think the CFA boycott is dumb as hell, but just stating my opinion re: some of the rhetoric in this thread. I also hope the girl in the video comes to study the bible more later as well, but I don't think we've necessarily figured out a good way to encourage her to do so.6 points

What happened to the old FFR? All you do now is piss on people over here or political-monger in the Pie forum. This, in particular, is tasteless. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you are quite possibly the face of UNT fandom...like the Mean Green version of Crazy Ray or Zonk. If anyone needs to be held to a higher standard and take the high road EVERY TIME, it really needs to be you sir.6 points

Yeah, there's the "go and sin no more" that would be the problem today. That was the condition Jesus gave her. He didn't say, "Let her go, she's done nothing wrong." He acknowledged that she'd sinned and, in helping spare her life, gave her the opportunity to stop sinning, repent, and begin a new life. None of that scenario is congruent with homosexuals protesting Chik-Fil-A. They do not accept or acknowledge that they are sinning. Therefore, they have no intention of repenting. Quite the opposite. They want total acceptance of their action by those who do recognize their actions as sinful and harmful. And, further, they intend to go to Chik-Fil-A's on Friday and flaunt their sin in front of the stores. This is nothing like the woman caught in adultry. Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." He didn't say, "Go and flaunt your sinfulness publicly." The original post of this thread was the gal in the video trying to take Christians to task for the view of homosexuality. And, she misused the Bible in her effort. Stormchaser entered and pretended to rap us on the knuckles for opposing gay marriage...also mistating the Bible, but at least he admitted not having full knowledge of it. He's intelligent, and I hope he will study it more in depth. It's unlikely that gal in the video would do so, but I hope she does someday as well.3 points

The loss of Gaines is not so much how much he could have helped on the field but how much he could have helped in changing the attitude of other potential recruits. At this point we have ZERO three-star athletes in the 2013 class. We still have offers out there that will probably be accepted but they'll be too late to cause any kind of domino effect. I take some heart in the fact that the commitments thus far seem to be good physical specimens with speed. Our coaching staff can make good FBS players out of them and they've seen them workout in person, not just on film. Still, it would be nice to see some commitments from those that are a step quicker and a bit stronger right now.3 points

Appreciate it, but it's cool...I just now take all of Rick's insinuations that I'm gay as his way of saying he wants to bone me. It's his internet version of tapping his foot twice towards the stall next to him in a men's room.3 points

Same in Frisco this morning. We'll try it for dinner, though. My guess is Chik-Fil-A will have it's largest one day gross sales numbers. Amazing that there have been commentators thinking Chik-Fil-A would be hurt by their CEO's comments. Got to keep in mind that the national political spin cycle originates in D.C./East Coast...which is far removed from the reality of the every day Americans.3 points

stormchaser is wearing me out with these long replies. Go to class young man! I used to be just like you, but then I graduated college. Then, I hit the real world. I pay taxes and health insurance for a family. I have a mortgage, and 2 car payments. I work M-F, 9-5. It's a fact, you become more conservative with age. Just ask Winston Churchill. You'll want to solve all the problems in the world today. 10 years from now you'll just want to eliminate the cause of the problem whether it be crime, high gas prices, home market crumbling, etc. Don't force your young views on everyone else. You believe what you want and let us, more experienced in life, think what we want. For goodness sakes, STOP WITH THE 3 PAGE RESPONSES. THIS IS A FORUM NOT A PERSONAL BLOG3 points

Basketball keeps looking like a real bright spot for us as we get ready to move to C-USA. It would be great to join in 2013 as the defending Sun Belt Champ and a nice run in the NCAA Tourny. It is just a dream, but additions like this make it more of a possibility. Great job Benford and staff. All the more reason we should hang signs for the basketball season too.3 points

Jerry Jones commented in a weekend press conference in Oxnard that most doctors think it not very sensible to practice in extreme heat. Had a friend and his wife take a week vacation near Oxnard last week and it was 65-70 degrees the whole time. http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-08-03/nfl-needs-to-set-example-stop-practicing-in-extreme-heat2 points

This forum harbors quite the hatred for tall white Mean Green Basketball players.... Niko is not Knoxxy or POWERTON. He and Tony played really well off of each other the few times they shared the court. His passing ability on the blocks was one of the few things that opened opportunities up for Tony during those long stretches of stagnate offense. The more minutes he gets along side Tony this year, the better. I'd hazard a guess that Niko gets the same or more minutes a game as Franklin.2 points

Careful Rick. I hear that's how it all starts. First you're laughing at gay stuff, then you're teasing people about gay stuff, then you're going out of your way to promote anti-gay stuff, next thing you know you're so wrapped up in gay stuff you start experimenting with gay stuff. Once you've experimented, I assume you just immediately decide to go full gay. I think that's how it works? Question, no info.2 points

The only thing we are missing in this line-up (glass half full/wishful thinking) would be a bruising center off the bench to collect fouls. Hopefully, Niko has discovered Clark Hall. Is that still the junk food dorm? Hope this doesn't derail into dorm food talk.2 points

Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but here is a link to his stats at Paris JC in 2010: https://njcaa.org/colleges_college_player.cfm?sid=4&collegeid=1441&category=Roster&slid=2&teamid=120385&athleteid=355828 Shot from beyond the arc 50% of the time. I agree and hope his blocking comes along. If Power's blocking ability rubs off on Smith this year, and Smith still has his hands and speed then we could have a monster TE for a couple of years. Let's get some DT's and DE's committed.2 points

This hypothetical is so off my radar until he can pass a few classes. Half a season doesn't propel anyone in the draft. I personally think he needs to focus on making the Mean Green go deep in the tourney this season, and then if, and only if scouts are throwing around "lottery" he might think about leaving early.2 points

Chris averaged 4.26 Assist and 2.36, that's more than a 2-1 ratio. That must go down to about a 5-1 ratio if he has any LEAGUE asperations. If Chris attempts to go to the LEAGUE after this year. He will end up on the bench in Isreal behind some other point guard. STAY IN SCHOOL. STAY ELIGIBLE. GET A DEGREE. MAKE A GOOD LIVING.2 points
