I can assure you, Benford didn't go after Anthony because he's a "family friend". Anthony played for me for 3 years with NM Force and after the spring and summer of his Junior year Anthony had 15-20 high major offers. He was ranked #30 in the country by ESPN and #65 by Rivals. He then moved to Houston for his senior year. Unfortunately, things spiraled due to the many distractions and some not so good people around him and in his ear. He's matured a lot and he finally has things back in order in his life. He's an extremely likable kid, he has all the tools to be a great player for UNT. If he works hard he could be special. Coach Benford did recruit him after his Junior year and he was offered by Marquette along with many other high major offers before committing to Memphis (then, de-committing). Coach Benford stuck with him and built a great relationship with Anthony. Anthony knows UNT and Coach Benford is the right fit. www.nmforce.com

Yeah, funny how people forget he was also on the team last year, when Dodge wasn't here. There's plenty you can blame Dodge for, but this particular subject is not on that list.

Damontre McFarland has huge upside. Right now I see him as a MM+ level kid. He's a beast on the boards and finishes well around the basket. He's also a big-time shot blocker. He's still developing a mid-range game. He's long, athletic, strong and runs the floor very well. He's taking summer school classes and he will attend Kingdom Christan Academy in Georgia his senior year. He's working hard to get his classes in order. If he can put everything together and as he matures more he could develop into a HM level player. www.nmforce.com

Somehow I don't think he likes us. Hope we pummel 'em annually. I do have to admit that I'm not real fond of the addition of the football newbies to the conference myself. It undoubtably lowers the perception of the conference in many people's minds.

High School : Arlington Grace Prep ( Formerly @ Plano West) AAU: Athlete's 1st RIVALS SCOUT Contacted by UNT staff. Under the rader prospect right now due to the fact he plays(ed) behind the likes of Emmauniel Mudiay & Jelon Hornbeak. Should see an increased role this year with the Hornbeak off to OU. His stock should rise as Grace Prep will be one of the better teams in the nation with Mudiay & Jordan Mickey returning

Could it be he wasn't as dedicated a collegiate athlete, as he is as someone who will be able to make a living doing this? That is a legitimate question. I certainly wish him well. GMG

You can expect a kid who is coachable. He is going to give Coach Benford 100%. He is long, athletic, and a high flyer. Anthony excels as a slasher and he can knock down the 3 pt shot. He rebounds well. He can cause matchup problems with his length, athleticism and size as he can take guys off the dribble from the perimeter or knock down the jumper (has great elevation), as well as take his guy inside. He is a very good passer and he excels in an uptempo style.

You are getting a real good one in Anthony! He played for me with NM Force for 3 years and he has the tools and ability, if he works hard all of the time, to be a special player for UNT and play beyond College. Born outside Philadelphia, grew up outside D.C.. Even though I've been in DFW for 21 years, this would be the first time I would give a (very slight) damn about the Cowboys.

Hell, I'll root for a "little guy" against a "big guy" 99 times out of a hundred, conference mates or not.

Of course we still root for the Sun Belt. This season, we just root a little harder for FIU.

UNT is not subsiding the convention center. UNT is leasing the land and generating revenue. With the convention the city will have vested interested in the University especially in the area near Apogee. The University will be one the entities that will uses the convention center, why would you not want the convention center on campus? The convention center will allow the University to leverage its facilities and resources. This project will increase the University's visibility. "The xyz convention at the University of North Texas." THIS A BIG WIN FOR THE UNIVERSITY.

I agree. Tulane shold drop from D-1 and give the CUSA a chance to invite another, more credible, member.

Unless it affects our bowl possibilities, I root for our conference as well as non-conference teams on our schedule. That makes our wins over those teams that much sweeter (or losses more palatable).

Yes,NT leased the land at the old hotel for far below market value. I have no idea what the terms of the new proposal are and I doubt few do at this point. One question why would the city or the hotel want it on Nt property if there was not an advantage for them to it. If it is an advantage to NT to have it had Eagle Point, more power to them. I am not sure why having a convention center on your property is an asset. It sounds a awful lot like all these municipal contruction projects that are always going to spur development but seldom do. At the least, if it is development it will be something that NT will have to schedule around and it will take property out of control of the University. I fail to see how it enhances anything directly at NT. The old hotel was a different thing altogether. NT had nothing over there and wanting someone else to deal with the golf course. If NT indeed leasing the property to the City or another entity they will pay just like anyone else to use the facility either directly or a reduction in lease income to cover NT use of the convention center. This very well may make financial sense to NT, but I hope they know what they are doing.

Other than FIU and NT I hope the sun belt gets destroyed in every game they play in every sport this year (except for RPI help in basketball). This is especially true when CUSA schools are playing the Sun Belt. The Sun Belt is not our conference; CUSA is.
