  2. While I agree TD was the worst head coach this program has ever endured, I just can't go along with those who continue to demonize him. Here's my take... TD was not an Agent of Satan sent to Denton to further crush and humiliate an already floundering, underfunded football program. He was quite simply WAY WAY over his head, thoroughly ill equipped to staff and coach a Division I college football program. His arrogance clouded his better judgement when it came to staffing all the way down to game day decisions, and yes, he left the cupboard bare for Chico and Coach Mac. In the credit where credit is due department, at least he didn't dress his players in black and give the school, its students, alumni, and boosters the middle finger on his way out the door. Now, can we finally....FINALLY shovel dirt on this failed era and fill Apogee every game day? Let's help make the Coach Mac era the new "golden days" of UNT football.

  4. 1. Nah, I just crack stupid jokes. 2. The people you've disagreed with haven't been hot and bothered enough to continue arguing the matter. You have. There have been 301 posts on this board concerning the Treyvon Martin case... 95 are yours. 3. It bothers me that you say so much on the matter without saying anything at all.

  7. Maybe his wiener was simply standing it's ground? Edited for repurposement into one super sweet joke. "Did you hear the Sandusky legal team is petitioning the court to have his trial moved to Florida? It seems they're now claiming his wiener was simply standing its ground in the face(or rear) of attack."

  8. See the link below to the DRC. Read the first letter to the editor. I hope Denton and NT collaborate on this project, but I hope they do it right and aren't negotiating behind close doors. That will only lead to more hard feelings with the citizens of Denton when NT needs to be making good with everyone. http://www.dentonrc....itor-june-5.ece

  9. UNT picked up a commitment from Paris linebacker Sed Ellis yesterday. I talked with Ellis and his high school coach Berry Bowman for a few minutes this afternoon. Ellis is one of those all-around good high school athletes. He normally plays defensive end for Paris, but moved to outside linebacker for the last half of last season. The move turned out to be one that helped Ellis’ stock. He played well enough at the spot for five or six games to be named to the All-District 15-3A team as a linebacker. 14. We are all gong on speculation at this moment. The sad part of this if true, is I doubt anyone cared if he had a masters or not. They do care about lying on a resume. I never thought he was ever considered for the NT hc job, but it had nothing to do with character. It takes a lot more than a positive relationship with players to be a good coach and he had little experience beyond recruiting that I could determine. He won't be out of a job long. Schools pay guys like Forrest for recruiting not coaching or ethics.

  15. I love to hate them and hope we continue our upcoming series for eternity. Dickey beat them and Dodge should have beaten them. I hope Mac smacks them around for years to come leaving them with nothing but empty wealth-related insults to throw at us. I want scoreboard.

  16. Forrest didn't necessarily give false information to UNT. Does anybody know what he had on his resume prior to being hired by us?

  17. I don't know. Do we have all the facts? What sort of slant is the media taking? Maybe Sandusky was acting in self-defense? I for one won't be a lamb feeding at the trough of some liberal media agenda.

  18. Yes, but do you really believe that? I loathe the term, and despise that the media only enforces this misleading term, however most people know what it means. And I believe you know, at least on a general premise, this to be what CMJ explained. It doesn't matter. You're allowed to not like the article. But I think it's great that TM is on this list. Even if you don't like the group, we can all agree it's more Mean Green publicity! Just curious: why are you changing font sizes mid-paragraph?

  19. This happens all too frequently. Most AD's and HC's don't care and don't check. I have had several instances where this had to be corrected. If this is true, it was probably the result of someone outside of the athletic department discovering it. A number of years ago, UALR was caught with an academic administrator claiming to have a PhD and not having it. It was an interesting, but long, story on how this was caught. I know of another case where a guy was caught claiming to have two PhD's. The funny thing was he did have one and had no need of having a second one. You would be surprised how difficult it is sometimes to get official transcripts for coaches.

  24. Folks, this is a BIG deal today in Wisconsin. No matter which side of the recall vote petition regarding Gov. Scott Walker you are on, the outcome will have far reaching significance well outside the state of Wisconsin. If Walker wins, watch other states move quickly to limit the power of public sector unions (this vote has nothing to do with private sector unions) in order to try to reign in costly benefits. And watch public sector union membership decline not only in Wisconsin but across the nation as well if Walker wins. If Walker loses, watch the clout of public sector unions climb. And, watch states be very cautious about trying to reign in public sector employment costs to help balance budgets, etc. Some see this as a proxy on Obama and big union. I am not so sure about that, but Obama has definitely steered clear of this fight and the national democratic party pulled money out of the race several weeks ago. Wisconsin, once a sure thing as any sure thing could be for the dems is now seen in play for the November elections...no matter who wins this recall vote, but even more so if the Walker folks win today. Hard to imagine Wisconsin being anything but a blue state, but even if it does stay blue in Nov. the fact that it is "in play" will cause Obama and the dems to spend time and money in a state that in the past was a sure "lock" for the Dems and saw little funds and energy spent there during a national race. Anyway...this IS A BIG DEAL. If you are in any shape or form a political junkie, you don't want to miss seeing the returns tonight on TV. Personally, I will be glued to the TV watching as soon as the polls close in Wisconsin and they can start announcing the early voting returns. It is going to be close...very close, I think and should come down to which side can turn out the vote in the greatest numbers. Everyone should be watching Wisconsin this evening...you can bet your bottom dollar that the White House is.....

  27. Well, you could be right. It will be hard to quantify until election day. I'm not sure if having Obamacare struck down, assuming that happens (and that's still a pretty big assumption - I've seen the courts do stuff that I never thought they would, including upholding McCain-Feingold(sp?)), is an automatic win for Romney's camp. ...they can still play the "despite our best efforts" game and may find some way that I can't predict to make a case based on it. From June to November is a lifetime in Politics. It'll be interesting. Scott's going to win, and I think rather big tonight though.

  29. I think it will not only surpress the left vote, but will galvanize the right vote in September. Where this could really hurt Pres. Obama is if the Supreme Court boots health care in a couple of weeks. Back to back high profile losses for Pres. Obama and the democrat party just a couple of months before the conventions could turn the tide in a big way for Romney in the states that matter (Florida, Ohio, Virginia, and a couple of others). Pres. Obama has tried to stay far away from the Wisconsin vote, but that will cost him huge with the unions. Not in terms of donations (it's not like they have another pony to ride), but in terms of union workers staying home on election day. No one should underestimate the importance of this (Wisconsin governor's) election in the eyes of the unions.

  30. I agree that this vote today stripes the field. If a special interest group can manage to get a sitting Governor thrown out of office for enacting the reform policy he ran on in the first place, then we won't see anyone else willing to take on special interests in an effort to reform. ...if Walker and his Lt. wins, then I agree that other reform minded governors and politicians might take up some harder issues in their locals. I'd be wary though, even though I hope you're right, of reading too much into how the outcome of this race impacts Obama. First, the majority of the state voted for Walker the first time. The majority voting block doesn't like to have a Minority overturn their will. Winning this recall has been an uphill battle for the left since the minute they started, and it was done more as a power play than an actual attempt to defeat walker. Unfortunately, this play is appearing to have backfired. The question is will the Walker voters tie Obama to the attempt to thwart their will? ...he has been very careful and politically more prudent on this than he often is by staying WAAAAAY out of this fight. What this MAY do for Romney in Wisconsin is depress the left vote in November as a result of what will be viewed by many of the faithful as a major blow. That more than the tide of public opinion moving right will deliver Wisconsin to the Republican nominee should it occur. Great post, KRAM!!!

  33. Looks like the road map to the White House is firmly set for Romney. Economy, Economy, Economy. Let's just hope he is smart enough to follow it. And really not that close, KRAM (assuming the exit polling is correct). Surprising in a state like Wisconsin. Is this a sign of things to come for Pres. Obama? Disclaimer: I have no idea of the political affiliation of this web site. It was the first thing to come up when I googled Wisconsin exit polling.

  34. Not surprising - but CH has sent four players (1 gray shirt) to UNT over the past two years. One is projected to start on the Mean Green defense this year. The other three are incoming freshmen and obviously the jury is out on them - but if two or three of the four CH recruits make significant contributions to future UNT teams, then CH will be proud - and vindicated, too, as some on this board have criticized UNT/McCarney for taking four players from the same 3-A school........and not without some justification.

  41. I've got a good friend at work, who has a master's from Troy. He did the whole thing online from here in Texas. In fact he has never taken any pride in that degree, and never comes up to watch Troy when they play us. I think he only got the thing to qualify for a raise, and Troy was the easiest and cheapest program avalible. It's sad that Forrest is being taken down by a degree that has no impact on his talent as a coach. What a bad choice. I do agree, how is it that we didn't catch it? Did he claim to earn it after he was already hired by UNT?

  43. Mid-major is a pejorative term. The NCAA does NOT use the terms "major" and "mid-major" to differentiate between Division I athletics conferences. There is no minor league in college basketball. Since the author does define what constitutes a "mid-major" the article is completely pointless.
