  6. I don't want to be in an all Texas division. I like some in state rivals but not every team. Give me Tulsa and LA schools.

  7. Going 2-2 in the tournament is not bad especially losing the first game. Team is getting better but at a slow pace, time to get over that hump.

  8. Houston yes.... SMU no ..... not with the respect they have for us.

  9. If the B.E. falters and as posted by another, SMU and UH will fight tooth and toenail to avoid coming back to CUSA. They will perceive such a move as that as losing too much face. Those 2 schools could very selfishly ask several other schools to lose all their finanical credits in other conferences (no matter how much) joining them to re-form another version of CUSA or what could be better for all of us concerned IMO if they did not return to CUSA............the MWC will accept them like that conference's plans were before those 2 Texas schools went to the Big East, but how much room will the MWC have if SDSU and Boise return to it? If that were to happen, North Texas would still be better off than where we were only if we can retain a few Texas and regional rivals which we did not have in the Sun Belt Conference. We were on an island much like Texas State will be and to a certain extent, ECU is in CUSA. If some schools would just accept the fact that they are not going to get in the Big 12 any time soon and just get back with CUSA as is, this consortium could eventually be a TV revenue-drawing juggernaut, but it they want their continued pride and living in the past to rule their day the impending financial destruction of a non-fan supported athletic program will be forth-coming IMHO. GMG!

  10. Agreed. If the Big East imploded bringing back in teams like Houston and SMU would only make football stronger and increase market share in Houston and Dallas. It would be great if C-USA could bring UCF and USF back in as well, assuming the Big East is no more. The conference would cover every major market in two of the four largest states in the country, and would create a series of solid intra-state rivalries.

  15. Then that professor should be fired. CUSA is awesome for UNT. The new CUSA West will lower athletic travel costs and increase sports revenue.

  16. From everything I've read, he was actually recruited to UT to play TE. Their old offensive coordinator liked to go after big guys that played WR in high school, and move them to TE, because big TEs aren't a necessarily a neccessity in the spread offense, because they're moved all over the place and out in routes more often than they are blocking. Well, you can't really get by in a pro-style offense with a 230 pound TE, so they've started to recruit bigger TEs with experience playing the position. From what I understand, they didn't want to move him to WR. I think this is a HUGE pickup, especially if he can get cleared by the NCAA to play this fall. From everything I've seen, read, or heard, he's a really good kid. His only noticeable weakness is speed, which I find ironic, because that was the only strength of the last WR we got from the Big-12. But, I'll take as many 4-star transfers as we can get. Eventually, one of them will live up to the hype, and I happen to believe it'll be this guy. Go Mean Green!

  19. Just airing on the side of caution, CUSA can't rescend their offer to NT IF SMUt came back, can they? Asuming we still have our place at the CUSA table, I'm torn. Part of me wants $MUt to come back so we can play them and knock them down, and part of me would take immense joy in seeing them scramble for a home.

  21. Look like a good pickup and I hope he turns out to be great, and I feel the same about Trice and Feldt. Just a cool the jets moment, Tyler Stradford got the same kind of initial reaction. I have been following the program much much longer than most, and I can't remember too many transfers from upper tier schools that ever excelled; many contributed. Anthony Bridges who was a second team All American didn't even star at NT, although it was reported that he had injury problems. Hopefully that trend will change. If anyone remembers a big time contributor from a major program, let me know. Cornist was a good defensive tackle, Finch was a really big name but was an average player at NT, J. T. Hollins was very good but that goes back to Fry. Unfortunately, a lot end up like Stradford and Cole.

  27. 1. Boise and SDSU in the MWC to get to 12 would be awesome. 2. The return of Houston, SMU, USF, UCF and Memphis would be cool. 3. What is FCC. 4. No one is going to a three division system 5. As I was informed by the human resources department "Chinese Fire drill" is a degrogratory term that implies Asians aren't smart and would run back in to a burning building

  34. Reviewed a listing of our guys over the years and we just haven't had any to speak of other than Juco transfers. The program was down for so long that guys preferred to go to a D1AA school to play immediately. (Sam Houston St, SWTSU, SFA etc)
