  9. ODU vs MTSU comparisons Old Dominon: Endwoment:............170 Million Students:................24K Athletic Budget:.......32 Million Baketball Att:...........7,745 Football Att:............19,818....3 years of consecutive sell outs with big waiting list for season tickets. MTSU: Endowment:...........52.4 Million Students:..............24K Athletic Budget:.....20 Mill Basketball Att:.......3,640 Football Att:..........18,407 After looking at the comparisons, I think its absolutely clear as to why CUSA prefers ODU over MTSU.

  10. Nice signing. With three years of eligibility left, this is a great addition.

  11. Cool kicks, if you're into blatant pandering to Irish Catholics. To which I'm completely indifferent. I'll be rooting for America, that day. As I am every day. May the bald eagle of freedom e'er soar, higher and higher. Such majestic beauty. So glorious. So free.

  12. This is one of the many things I don't get about smokers. What if I just threw my empty coke can on the ground/out the car window? Why in the world can most of them not keep their butts somewhere, i.e. their car's ashtray, and then throw them away once they find a real trashcan? As Kobe would say: "I wish we knew".
    3 points
  13. It's not just that, it is also a campus appearance issue. Smokers tend (not all, but evidence suggests a lot) to throw their cigarette butts on the ground wherever they are at the moment. You make a choice to either spend a lot of money to clean the campus, or you make them go elsewhere.

  16. interesting...don't know how many other universities that are smokeless...i understand the health/safety/smell issues, but i wonder if a university going smokeless is the right thing...i'm not a smoker, but have no problem with people smoking in designated areas

  17. $1.4 billion endowment: How's that worked out for you the past 20 or so years? Tier One Ranking: I may be mistaken, but I think only UT, A&M and Rice are Tier One Univeristies. Big East: good luck with that. The Big East has multiple issues and you don't have an opponent, outside of UH, in the immediate vicinity. 12,000 at football games will continue and BB will get hammered in the Big East. Presidential Library: Be happy Bush decided to "retire" to Dallas. June Jones: hope he's not too busy with his inner-city ministry (still looking for that one, btw), trying to entice a bigger school or not being truthful to recruits. Larry Brown: is their a Luby's close to campus? If history repeats itself, you all will be on probation in 3 or 4 years with a former North Texas coach leading the way. Sorry, but I wish nothing but failure upon SMU. By the way, I grew up in the Methodist Church and am embarrassed that your school is affiliated with the church.

  19. Hall was a heck of a field general. He didn't have to put up big numbers because he was always reliable and because the running game gave him great support. Hall's better than a big-numbers QB, he was accurate, and I'll take an accurate QB over a flashy one any day. And for Smith's loss meaning the decline of Dickey's history? I think it's Dickey that led to his own decline. He never properly reloaded his roster on account of either field performance, behavior, or something else. You could it miles away that he wasn't keeping the gap in talent between UNT and the rest of the SBC. That game where MTSU showed up on our doorstep after that last SBC ring was a sure sign that Dickey had fumbled.

  22. IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - While most of the attention is on rookie draft picks each year, sometimes it’s the undrafted free agents that really make a rookie class. Among the current Cowboys starters who went undrafted are quarterback Tony Romo (2003), wide receiver Miles Austin (2006), and center Phil Costa (2010). So, who are the rookies we need to keep an eye on at this week’s Cowboys Rookie Mini-Camp? Danny Coale, Matt Johnson, Lance Dunbar, Tim Benford, and Donavon Kemp are my picks to click this weekend: Running Backs Lance Dunbar – North Texas – (5-8, 205) – Haltom HS grad is the all-time leading rusher in North Texas football history and after flashing 4.47 speed at his Pro Day workout, Cowboys scouts became intrigued…barring an injury to DeMarco Murray, Felix Jones, or Phillip Tanner, he’s probably destined for a practice squad spot at best, but he has a legitimate chance with his hometown team. Darrell Scott – South Florida – (6-0, 231) – was a much ballyhooed recruit in 2007 who chose Colorado over Texas, then transferred to USF…turned pro after rushing for 814 yards on 153 carries (5.3) and 5 TDs in 2011…ran a 4.59 forty at his Pro Day.

  37. And what was TexasSWSTSTATETeachers-SM doing in 1975 when North Texas had a 3'rd string QB help lead the way in beating what today would have been a bowl bound (6 & 5) SEC Tennessee Volunteers? Yes, a few years ago for certain, but that is what is called NCAA D1 history and legacy such as we had in the 50's and 60's, too. (We also beat the UH Coog's 28 to 0 that same 1975 season as well). You know you will not win any arguments over here so why the hell do you keep trying? Most every thing you post is of a confrontational nature and that gets old after while. Go to your school's board and stay there. You add nothing of interest to this board and you are becoming a bore and a nuisance. GMG! PS: And great for TSU-SM's stadium expansion (but with a track still inside it); yet after their Texas Tech game why the hell would they want all those empty seats for future games with schools who will bring no traveling fans to their stadium? We have passed the torch to TSU-SM to experience what we have for decades and still didn't get such a break as TSU-SM going from an FCS kind of existence straight to the FBS Sun Belt. Bobcat fans world-wide should be making the sign of whatever a Bobcat claw looks like. GMG! !

  38. I think the question you want to see is when this new tv contract comes out for the Big East: Is the money that much better for Boise & San Diego St. in the Big East than what they could have in MWC without having to throw there other sports teams under the bus?

  40. I dont get how this is so hard to understand but if the Big East loses teams it is bad for CUSA. This has been proven over time. UNT should be rooting for stability.

  42. And their main production facilities as well as the HQ for Telemundo are in Miami. This is a brilliant idea. Several of the teams are in heavily Hispanic markets, and, as noted, C-USA is very strong in baseball and soccer. This could be a great way to bring in additional revenue and cultivate fans for baseball and soccer, and maybe they will decide to watch football and basketball while they are at it.

  43. I stilll don't get that SMU to big east thing... so you go out to save a conference on the east coast with exactly one decently close team and everything else faaaaar away. But what is in it for SMU? You could say its for the AQ...but its not gonna be here anymore....you could say that was not clear then...but there had already been a whole lot of talk about MWC/CUSA getting their own AQ or the AQ being abolished. It was already a realistic possiblity. You could say its for the money... but SMU already has money... and with the teams that are gone and no AQ there really will not be enough money to justify punishing all your non-revenue sports and and getting beat 80-35 in basketball about 3 times a season...and the money is not gonna be nearly as good as people think. Ok all those nice NCAA bids in BB, but people are gonna be surprised how small the TV-offer will be with the new football lineup. ESPN does not need the Big east anymore to cover the east coast. NT-fans understand what advantage it is to be in the center of your conference, and not at the fringe. I always though that move was less than ideal for both sides, but I understood that the big east had to do something to survive....but i never understood what $mu got out of it, and I get it less and less.

  44. Why did Mac recruit sooo many little quitters last year?

  45. Your point is not that hard to grasp. Most here would agree with you....it's just the wording that comes off as a backhanded compliment. Maybe what you really meant was: UNT did not SUCK as compared to the rest of the Sun Belt conference....but we definitely did suck as a regional player in FBS level college football. As a member of CUSA, UNT has a chance to actually become a regional player. Mind you, all of this argument is entirely centered around our football program, as most of our other sports have traditionally done a nice job regionally. Hopefully we'll give you guys a run for the football championship this year...but I think that as long as Malzahn doesn't pull a Dodge (and totally destroy and undermine your defense in year #1), you guys have a chance to be the first Belt team to land a spot in the Top 25 (at least in the last 15 years).

  46. Your growth has nothing to do with who from the Sun Belt goes with you, or what start-up schools CUSA takes in the east. It has little to do with CUSA at all. Your growth has to do with the grouping of schools you are associating yourself with in Texas....Rice, UTSA, UTEP, UNT. You have an excellent chance to come out on top of that group competitively and if you do that task then you will blow up in Texas and your attendance will be on the road to ECU/USM levels. CUSA can add MTSU, Western Nevada, or Athens Georgia Community College and its not going to effect your opportunity. Dominate those other 3 and you are set. Try not to become elitist though.
