  2. Perhaps if we had been playing our football games at Texas Stadium we would have got in last time. That is what UTSA is right now, except their facilities for other sports are worse that ours used to be. And we were coming off four straight conference championships. They are coming off a win against the Bacon College Baconeaters with a stadium full of KFC fans.

  7. My tickets get renewed regardless of who's on the schedule. Have for nearly a decade now. 2012 - Our farewell tour of the Belt.... So much easier to swallow.

  12. Keenum signed with the Texans. Pretty cool that UNT's best player signed with the Boys and UH's best player signed with the Texans. Hope they both excel.

  13. 2006 (two-a-days): turf toe, redshirted as a result 2007: Dislocated kneecap 2008: Torn Hamstring requiring surgery 2009: Hamstring again 2010: None 2011 (preaseason): Hamstring again 2011 (season): broken ankle I'd say that's injury prone. As long as Dallas has Jones and Murray, anyone sitting at third string will have a decent shot at being the man by the end of the season.

  14. I didn't really want UTSA either, but they are in now. Time to focus on the future. We can build some great rivalries with the teams in our division. I'm excited.

  16. No. Hopefully it means we go replace TCU in MWC. That stuff about an inside job sounds like the kind of thing that could happen here too. However I am hopeful that our administrators are keeping clear of the UT (Texas not Tennessee) influence.

  18. It's not necessarily pi$$ing on the UTSA thing but from a CUSA view point, looking at it objectively, what's better for the conference? UNT, La Tech, FIU, UTSA or UNT, La Tech, FIU, MTSU? FBS history? MTSU Athletic success? MTSU TV Market? MTSU National reputation? MTSU Geography? (for the conference, not for UNT) Push I don't see how UTSA is better for the conference that MTSU... Take the awesome weekend in San Antonio every other year out of it because that has nothing to do with moving a program forward. That's why I think CUSA is making a mistake.

  19. I invite anyone here who is dissatisfied to lay me out a plan to get UNT into the SEC or Big XII right now with current members welcoming us with open arms. The standards that people demand, I'm shocked that every single UNT fan isn't a Viper driving CEO. Never should one settle for less, present realities be damned.

  20. I usually agree with many of the things you say, but how is playing Tulsa, Rice, and even UTSA, along with the Southern Miss's and and La Tech's of the world not better than the teams in the Belt? If the argument is that CUSA is somehow weaker now, that might be the case...but say if there was some magic formula that determined CUSA 2.0 is at the same strength level of the Belt, our fans will still relate more to these teams, which will increase attendance, which will increase the game day experience, which will in turn increase the face of our program. Just think about the large crowds we have had recently...They are all the teams we would be playing in our bracket of CUSA 2.0...only we wouldnhave those crowds game in and game out Bring in UTSA...I could care less...he'll I even encourage it because it will be one he'll of a road trip...better than going to ark St...la mon, Troy, etc...

  21. Although I'm not exactly thrilled about jumping into bed with UTSA, this would obviously be much better than continuing to tread water in the SBC. Instead of being one FULL step behind the Texas schools that are heading to the Big East, we now (hopefully) will just be a half step behind. Nice stepping stone, and nice regional teams that most will recognize. I suspect that the influence of "UT" in UTSA's name is helping them out with this undeserved opportunity, because a few extra TV sets coming out of SA shouldn't be providing CUSA with enough added value to vault UTSA past a more deserving TSUSM.

  23. I will say that at the Fiesta parade last night the UTSA band blew away the Texas Longhorn band. The crowd also went into a frenzy doing the roadrunner sign as the band roared by. This really is about UNT and I am beyond thinking they needed to marinate in the SBC. We need to come into CUSA and do our part to make the conference a national force. Like the MWC was national power over the last decade, it is time for CUSA to step up. Lets make this our decade! I think you rotate bball conference tournaments between New Orleans and San Antonio. We need a secondary Alamo bowl in SAT for the league. This will replace the Memphis presence. We should also have a secondary bowl game in Dallas or Houston. I am glad UTEP is staying if they do because they have alums in Houston, Dallas and SAT. We have alums in Houston and SAT. It is time to bolster these chapters so every trip to these markets has a party and strong Mean Green presence. GMG

  24. Just goes to show Murray isn't getting enough calcium as part of his preparation regiment. Where is the dedication? Dunbar drinks three tall glasses of milk a day to ensure he has strong bones. Passing up Murray on the depth chart should be a breeze. I jest, of course. I noticed a couple interesting things in the DMN this morning. 1- I didn't see Dunbar's name mentioned at all. I'm used to NT getting overlooked, but I would have thought the story would have been in the paper since it was the Dallas Cowboys. Oh well. 2- Case Keenum didn't get drafted.

  28. Updates look great! If only recruits would realize (or care, damnit!!) that we have the best message board of any CUSA, MWC, or Belt school, we would be in business. Thank goodness the mobile app is working. Gonna be a lot of phone checking on Monday and Tuesday. At least from me, anyway.

  29. Tasty, Hunter is a good kid and will be a senior at Kingwood High. His parents and I are on the booster club together. I will get to see him play alot next season (my son plays on the sophomore team). he was injured some of last year so it was a hard season for him.

  41. If he makes the team and that's a BIG if, he's going to be pretty much a special teams guy. Unless the Cowboys have injuries, which if you look at Murray's and Jones' history it's pretty much a given they will

  44. Barry is just speculating (not his real name guys). That is just an opinion piece based off his obsessive following of the topic. This is really typical reaction of UNT-ers. I get it but I don't subscribe to it. It demeans us, yo. UTSA getting the invite is just a function of the current climate, methinks. They are all potential and (relatively limited) TV market. I figure the sell is this: "They sold out the first game! Averaged 35K! All of the 7th largest city is behind them! Alamodome!" Whereas, when trying to sell LaTech and other squads that have been bouncing around conferences, you have actual numbers and history messing up the positive vibes. I also think that is the reason UNCC is getting so much love.

  45. Oh, we must work at the same company.

  46. Depends on what you call "the alliance." Merger between MWC and CUSA isn't happening yet. But the MWC is shutting down their TV network and they and CUSA appear to be proceeding on a joint marketing (and perhaps scheduling) program. There were too many dollars on the table from exit fees and NCAA basketball units to kill off the conferences yet. CUSA still has a current TV contract that calls for a championship game and to do that you need 12 football members. MWC doesn't but needs at least one more to be a FBS conference. This doesn't mean an eventual merger won't take place later.

  47. UTSA notwithstanding, you're telling me that Tulsa, Rice, UTEP are not improvements over LA Monroe, MTSU and FAU? And they're all driveable? Dude, seriously, we just went 6-37 against a bunch of Pop Warner teams. We can't be Alabama just yet. This is a great stepping stone.

  48. I'll give you a legitimate and measured answer, KRAM, to what I believe is your general quandary, though I must say with all the derisive language choices you opted for it can be difficult to tell if you actually want a legitimate and measured answer or if you're just spouting off. Either way... There is no hate of success. There is no jealousy of the rich. The reason I...and I have no idea if I speak for liberals on the whole or not...support the premise of levying higher taxes on the wealthy boils down to two simple philosophies. 1. There is no such thing in this world as a "self-made" individual. No one...absolutely no one in history has never become successful whilst isolated in a bubble. Every person has gotten to the position in which they occupy in life either through the help or on the backs of others...and as such they owe back to the community. 2. A great wealth/income disparity benefits no one. It creates an unhealthy economy. It prevents the lower end from spending which in turn forces the hand of the upper end to begin hoarding...loans from the top to the middle go away and small business, housing markets, et al suffer as a result. Ingenuity and innovation suffer because taking risk is...well, for a lack of a better word...too risky. Does that look at all familiar? You could simply dismiss my thoughts as communistic or socialistic...sure, I guess...I understand fully that I live in a community and that my choices and my successes and failures affect society. Please God...never let me turn into this guy.

  49. Initially award the cup to Rice as the oldest incumbent. Then let them defend it any time they play one of the other three Texas teams. Should someone beat Rice, they get the cup to defend. The cup could ultimately change hands more than once a year and potentially make otherwise meaningless late season games more interesting.
