We are working on improving that. The stadium is being enclosed this year, and there are plans for a second series of skyboxes, press facilities, and a second deck of seating.

I think more likely he's referring to our athletic department not giving the time of day to the guy that brought him (and the rest of our real talent) to campus in our potential coach search.

Hello friends. Just wanted to express my excitement for our game this fall in Manhattan, Kansas! I hope that some of you fine folks will make the journey to the "Little Apple" to watch the ballgame. It should be quite the entertaining game. If you'd like afterwards we can all get shitty drunk at my place, where you can crash.

I had to choose between an orchestra concert when they were interviewing for a new Maestro... And it was scheduled on the night of the Oklahoma State game a few years ago!!! The audacity of UNT Music. I wish all UNT organizations would consult the athletics schedule. We're lucky our ensemble directors haven't left. But last time I checked, I think most of the band/orchestra/choir directors just rent their houses anyways.

But it ain't (Insert random successful football 1st school) either.

No reason to feel bad for him, he gave alot to LSU and they don't want him. He has given us alot and we love him. Not getting that job may be a blessing in disguise.

From what I'm seeing, this thing is boiling down to 2 choices for LSU's AD. 1. Hire the right guy for the job according to former players and a myriad of paid talking heads... <gulp> OR 2. Hire someone the fans want so he can save face. If the AD can stomach an uprising from the fan-base for the betterment of his basketball team, then GreenJoe will be asking where Johnny lived... specifically.

If JJ tries to leave, I'm going to be all ACCIO COACH and keep him right here. If SMU shows up with a briefcase, it's Expelliarmus time. If it comes down to Tony leaving, I won't hesitate to throw an Avada Kadavra Snape-style, dawg. I love you, you crazy muggle.

First and most likely scenario would be that the Alliance conference decides on expansion of at least 20 teams. UTSA has rocketed up the charts, passing more established programs and would fall in line behind North Texas and Florida International. Uh, just slightly hyperbolic, dont you think? This team will be talented, but no way is it a lock to mKe the sweet 16, or to even get to the NCAAs next year. See MTSU this year. I think we shOuld all relax a bit and see how tuis plays out. I think if JJ was truly LSU's top candidate, he would already be gone. The long this takes, the better chance JJ stays put. Fingers crossed.

I have no doubt that he would rebuild LSU to be a great program, I do have doubts that he could make SMU into anything other than the dumpster fire it already is.

I've not paid very close attention to the SMU search.... but if you take that job do you have to work with Robo Doh? I'm pretty sure they kept him when they fired Human Doh.

He has already opened up his pockets, how does anyone think that NT could or even should match a 1 to 2m salary? Second, anyone who thinks SMU can't buy any coach from NT is going to be wrong almost every time. Some of you seem to have lost touch with reality.

It's always great how everyone is quick to go after the A.D. - we have no idea what they (AD) have or have not done. Shold they go ahead and hire the assistant and let JJ go?

And all three have healthy student populations which means all three programs have quite the potential to grow into something like Louisville did in the early 2000s if it could string multiple winning seasons.

I highly doubt this has anything to do with the coaching situation.

Things around UNT, they're changing. I doubt we'd be able to match $2M, but I bet we'd be able to give a hefty raise from where he's currently at.

I'd be shocked if LSU doesn't grab him first. And I'm not sure if money and the elevated basketball conference exposure would be enough to steal Jones from you guys. It's been a crazy few weeks for us, it's about to get crazier for the both of us.

More NBA potential than Tony Mitchell? What exactly are you basing that on? Obviously not performance because he played a whopping 30 minutes all of last season, and when he did play, he didn't perform. Tony would have been the best player on Florida State's roster and definitely better than this kid. I'm not saying he's not talented, but to say he has more potential than a guy whose potential is through the roof is egregious.

I think Dwayne makes a good point. Who wouldn't be impressed with a private jet and joking on the ride with Terry Bradshaw. And if that's all the "suits" are looking for then La Tech will show off well. However, if the suits are looking for a school with a major airport 30 minutes away to get teams, not executives, in and out quickly, a stadium on I-35, the 5th or 6th biggest television market in the country and brand new modern facilities and venues, well, I hope the "suits" know the difference between smoke and mirrors and the real deal. PS...If you want to fly your private jet from Ruston to Denton, land it on the 6,700 foot Denton Municipal Airport runway (1,700 ft. longer than the airport in Ruston). Use our new FAA control tower and know that after you land you're only about 2 minutes from Apogee Stadium. GO MEAN GREEN

I have been reading your posts for many years Plum. This is probably the best quote I've seen from you in all of those years. Pretty much sums up what may turn out to be the most important historical event in the last 30 years of North Texas athletics. I also agree that without the stadium, we would not be in this position AT ALL. Major kudos to all that made that happen!!
