This isn't an attack, but I've gotta ask - When CNN Says that it was "Coon", you believe it. Now that they claim it's really "Cold", you don't? ...and the fact that not ONLY has CNN admitted to this mistake, but now ABC and NBC have had to admit the audio and videos have been doctored, you still buy this is a racially motivated case or crime? The question you have to ask yourself is simple. Why? Why have 3 of the biggest media outlets had to back track or apologize at this point? ...if the evidence supported their coverage of the story and their demonization of George Zimmerman, why doctor the evidence? Even if Zimmerman were a Klansman, he wouldn't be guilty for shooting somebody who was beating him savagely. If Trayvon Martin were a Black Panther, it would still be wrong for Zimmerman to shoot him if he was not defending himself. We are supposed to have blind justice! The racial component here is not supposed to matter. We have a dead teenager. We have a dead American. We have somebody who shot him. We still don't know the details. All we have are a bunch of networks and race hustlers trying to create a stereotype out of this, going so far as the New York Times referring to Zimmerman as a "white Hispanic" just to create the template or the narrative or the whole stereotype, if you will. Race is being injected into this case to enrich the race-baiters, to sell newspapers and to try to enhance a television network audience.3 points

UNT hosted an international friendly match verse Columbia U-18 Besser FC. UNT won the match 7-0 but it was really cool to see the international pageantry. Both teams walked onto the field with the captains leading the way carrying their respective countries flag, both national anthems were played (note: Columbia's national anthem takes about 5 minutes to play! ). Then after the match everyone gathered for group pictures (see below). With regard to the play, the Colombian's ball skills were impressive at times and they never quit even after getting down early. Their girls showed some impressive "Cadillac" moves that drew some cheers from the UNT crowd. Even with very good balls skills, UNT was much to athletic for the Colombians ever to have chance. It was a D1 soccer program verse a good high school team (with skills ). Very entertaining to watch...but a bigger challenge will be tomorrow verse TAMU.2 points

PIERCE REID is in the game! We all recall Pierce for last year's game...the guy has hands and has some speed...so, look out P. Reid is BACK! Pierce has also agreed to provide some golf packages for the silent auction like he did last year. The golf packages were big hits and helped us raise a good bit of change for the scholarship...so thank you, Pierce for both playing and supporting our scholarship efforts once again. We look forward to having you with us again this year!2 points

What did you hear that you can hang your hat on? Neither Utah State nor the Mountain West confirmed anything. Maybe we can get Vito to speculate in the DMN that North Texas is a serious candidate to join CUSA.2 points

Good post. I would add that if we are in a better conference, attendance should go up. The average person knows nothing about the other Sunbelt teams. Much less knowing someone who went to one of those schools. A friend who is an SMU grad plans on attending the future games with me. It will be fun. If we played Rice every year, I would never miss a game home or away. I want to play more Texas schools minus A&M. (I will cheer for any Texas school but them. I can't listen to the douche baggery. I look forward to the SEC owning them.) Meanwhile my wife says "Who is Troy?" (everytime we play) Better opposition will get people to games.2 points

I don't think JJ goes. How do you justify to yourself going from winning and pulling top DFW talent to losing and being told DISD kids won't wear a pink polo (regardless of Kanye's influence)? HoopmanX in 5...4...3..2..1...2 points

I didn't assume anything, I'm simply asking a question. I heard the raw tape today and there is no way you can clearly make out what he said there. The ONLY ONE that I've heard where it even sort of sounds like Coon was one of the enhanced tapes, I think CNN's, though there is so much raw data out on this story now, it's hard to keep up. the very day this broke into the mainstream, MSNBC and CNN were claiming there was a racial slur on this tape. I'm not sure how you heard it before that was being thrown around. The only reason it ever hit the mainstream is BECAUSE of the racial component. Well, we can agree to disagree on that, as I think the evidence leaves the situation surrounding what happened murky at best. ...that being said, if it DID speak for itself, they would run with it, not message it to fit a narrative. My issue here isn't that I'm trying to defend Zimmerman. Rather I'm saying "I don't know what happened. NOBODY really knows what happened. Why is the news media trying to draw conclusions and create a narrative rather than simply report what we do and don't know about the story?" The only possible conclusion I can come up with is the one stated above. Fuel for the race-baiters and ratings. Nothing more. +1 for the fair response... Thanks!1 point

No thanks. How exactly am I 'masked' as you say, just because we've never met personally? I've met people on this board before, and I did an internship with one of the people on my friend's list. I'm not hiding. You can find me at tailgates & football and basketball games.1 point

Yes. Last year, we went 11 on 11 for 100...and, it ruined our last play of the half hook and ladder play with Hall and Quinn. Too many yards to cover. Hall stopped at what...about the 8?1 point

Or, AUB - perhaps the Razorbacks would try Garrick McGee, the most recent former Razorback OC. One thing's for sure, though...a real estate agent in Fayetteville got an early phone call this morning about putting a home on the market.1 point

I like this a good bit...ready for the Coaches caravan in May as well...sort of like Coach Aston last year. The part that is so good to hear is that the level of interest in the UNT position has grown in the recent past and there are several candidates who have contacted RV about the position already. That, with the list of folks RV obviously already had on his radar screen should bode well for the Mean Green's search. UNT IS a great place to coach and Denton is a great place to live, so those two together should make for some "good pickings" for the Mean Green. Seems obvious to me as well that Coach Aston was very positive about the support she received from RV and the Department while she was at UNT and appreciated the growing fan support for her program. That doesn't hurt the search process either. So, keeping my fingers crossed for a quick hire...but another great hire like Coach Aston....need to reach out to the recruits and current players ASAP!1 point

Unfortunately, as I understand it, there are five groups of MWC/CUSA presidents working on different aspects of the alliance. There are two problems with that...the coalition is part-time and getting several to agree on anything. It has been said that we will know something no later than early June.1 point

I fear Reggie Theus. If he can win with this rag tag bunch.... I mean... He did almost all his winning with just 5 kids on the roster! The Big East would be screwed. Expert's quote on Reggie's outlook as an up-and-coming basketball coach: "From Season One through Season Three, the head coach of the Deering Tornadoes was Reggie Theus. Yes, THE Reggie Theus. Former Sacramento Kings great. I know what you’re thinking. Most future NBA head coaches would build their résumés at the college level. Not Theus. He did it at a fictional Indiana high school. That’s ballsy."1 point

derrick's been a 'one off' type since he got here. very moody. most of it has to do with his twin brother who is in prison for attempted murder. my son was friends on facebook and was always telling how derrick talked about missing him. i imagine he'll end up somewhere closer to home. supposedly he told ray he needed more minutes and more shots so he could get to the nba asap and ray told him to get in the gym and work on his shot. i loved his fire on dee and going to the boards but he was a 35% shooter and a 26% 3 point shooter. a little better version of trey finn in my book. he turned the ball over like he was shaving points. i would have been infinitely more upset if it had been tj price or george fant. i didn't want him to leave and wish him well. i have full faith that ray can replace everything he brought to the table. only not the 91 turnovers in a non primary ball handler role.1 point

I doubt anyone can actually read your posts. And what I can decipher appears to be nonsense.1 point

Your post makes zero sense. It fails to address the appointed flaws in your analogy and it's also a logical flaw to say it's a mandate or nothing. I'm not okay with the federal government overstepping the bounds set on them by the Constitution, especially if it improves absolutely nothing and doesn't address the fundamental problems I've stated. And either way, you're going to end up subsidizing the irresponsible. People who have insurance are actually far more irresponsible re: their own personal health than those who pay out of pocket, in reality.1 point

Actually, Medicare and Medicaid were the first move to comprehensive medical care. COMPREHENSIVE medical care insurance is the reason the cost has gotten out of hand. If health insurance worked the way it was intended... for large, unexpected, catastrophic expenditures, it would me much, much cheaper. THAT'S one the big problems. Demand isn't being driven by need, no matter what the pundits on both sides try to tell you. Otherwise, medical device and drug companies wouldn't be spending what they do on advertising. I pay out of pocket, so I actually KNOW what things cost (In such cases that they'll actually discuss prices with you). As such, I make informed decisions about what tests are run and why, because, I can tell you, about 80% of what's ordered isn't necessary. They're covering themselves and the consumer doesn't care because, hey, they've got insurance, and "someone else" is paying for it. The physician, meanwhile, has financial gain for ordering all of these services. Even with Medicare and Medicaid, some of these services are the difference between making a 2% profit and 20% profit. Do you know how much insurance companies are paying out for people who need to be told over and over again not to eat garbage, or who go into the doctor because they've had an upset stomach since this morning, or they're running a low-grade fever now for 3 hours? Medicare has been cutting reimbursement for years now, and in many cases, it's actually increasing their overall cost, because those in charge of it are only capable of looking at immediate savings on cost reports. IOW, they look at PRICES, but aren't capable of analyzing COSTS. Our reimbursement rates for Medicare and Medicaid have dropped a good 12% since I've been doing this, but the condition of patients are now such that they require more services. Results... their costs are going up while reimbursement rates drop. Medicare will have to continue to increase its tax. As it is, it's an unsustainable Ponzi scheme. If you REALLY want to fix it, here's the only realistic way. You can't, constitutionally, force people to buy in. But you need to kill Medicare, kill Medicaid, and kill private insurance. Get rid of them. They don't work, and there's no way to fix them. A single risk pool, nationally, with premiums based solely on age, covering only catastrophic care. Outside of that, the taxes that currently are used to provide for Medicare and Medicaid need to be put into individual HSAs and a gap coverage between those HSAs and what catastrophes actually befall poor people such as myself. I say this as a person whose mother was a nurse for 40 years, whose sister-in-law is a physician's assistant, and currently sits at a desk billing Medicare and Medicaid. I've worked in medical schools and for medical companies. I pay out of pocket for all my health care, and have done so for the last 6 years.1 point
