  1. Did he live in Bowling Green? Did he rent or own a home? Please be specific, somebody out there knows.

  2. Undoubtedly someone on here knows...I'm sure he's "made sure she got home safely after a game" numerous times.

  6. Back to the topic at hand... With what we were paying her and the support she received from her own AD & Alumni Association.... She probably stayed in a one bedder over in cement city.

  7. "Freshman guard Derrick Gordon, WKU's leading scorer and rebounder, will transfer from the program, a source confirmed to the Herald on Thursday. Gordon wants to play closer to his home in Plainfield, N.J., the source said. He averaged 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game on his way to earning Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors. Gordon, who started all 35 games for WKU this season, helped lead WKU to a Sun Belt Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament, where the Toppers fell in the Second Round to eventual champion Kentucky." Story Huge loss for WKU!!!

  8. Start listening at the 52:50 mark...sounds to me like we're moving. He's talking about filling the stadiums and making kids (players) in the metroplex take notice, thinking it's "ok to come here"..so that enables us to recruit more Tony Mitchells. He goes on to say, "then you get some movement and things change about your surroundings and kids will have another inclination to come here". All of this in the context of UNT slowly building up, getting better fan support, enabling better recruiting, etc. Obviously, "movement in our surroundings" is a reference to our conference mates of the future. In this context, it just wouldn't make sense that that movement might be UTSA and/or TxSt and/or LaTech/etc joining the Sun Belt with us. Since he is talking about UNT building UP and increasing in stature, it has to be a reference to us stepping UP in terms of conference affiliation. The talk towards the beginning of the podcast was more guarded. From listening to this podcast in it's entirety, it'd be hard to say that it's definitely "in the bag" that we'll be moving, but it sure sounds like things are pointing strongly to that if things stay the way they are now. Granted, that's something he mentions...that this is all still fluid.

  11. Comforting to know that as an elected official, you did not "run it" through a buddy at the police or sheriff's department as that would be against the law. This post is just weird and disrespectful even if you are chasing rental property.

  14. Do you ever read before you post? Here again is the statement you are trying to respond to: By the way, I didn't state that endowments were unimportant to the school, they definitely are. The point again is that they have little to do with NT athletics and probably less with realignment. I have not heard any discussions about Boise State's resources or any big movement to get an Ivy league school to move up to the fb division because they have giant endowments. On a realignment scale, I would opine that a couple more recent football victories or an extra million in the athletic budget would weigh much heavier than a few hundred million more in endowments.

  15. The comments were all about what a nice guy he is. That's great and all, but sometimes I'd rather our A.D. command respect because he is a tough customer who knows how to work things in UNT's favor.

  21. +1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 I don't know that we can realistically ask for anything more to be done by our university to get us into the Alliance. My guess is that if we don't get in now, we ain't gettin' in. Here's why: We already have the facilities, TV market, budget and academic standing to fit perfectly with the Alliance now. If the Alliance still thinks we aren't a fit, then I highly doubt that anything will change that belief in the future. Yes, our football team has been awful, but our attendance numbers have actually gone up since we won the SBC in 2001-2004. I just can't see how winning the SBC this year would suddenly change the minds of the Alliance members if they believe that we don't belong in their conference now. To piggyback on your points of what we still pay the price for as a university from poor decisions in our past, imagine being the chancellor or president at UNT if we stay in the SBC and then the league gets dropped down to a less than FBS level in the future. Can you imagine the outcry that will come from the dollars that have been spent on the football program recently? If we think the Denia/Denton residents that hate UNT howl right now, just think of how much ammunition that crowd will run with in their anti-athletics drivel if we don't get to move up anytime soon... Also, we get laughed at when we ask people to come watch a home game againsta conference mate in Western Kentucky. I have already gotten laughs about a home conference game this year against South Alabama. I am fairly certain that trying to sell a home conference game against Georgia State won't be any easier in the future.

  25. I was thumbing through the state of Texas financials, especially as had to do with university funds, recently and compared a few of the revenue amounts. Texas State and Texas Tech, each with 5,000 or less students had about the same amount of revenue as North Texas. Actually, the revenue each generated was just over $48 million for last year while North Texas was slightly under that figure. That told me that the cost of attending North Texas is less per student and the quality is equal to those institutions at the least. I believe that UNT is a better value now and will be even moreso if the Four Bold Goals achieve their design. I expect North Texas to take a tremendous leap in prestige within the next ten years.

  30. Hell, if he's from Sanger, he'd be right at home in Denton. Double (or better) whatever he's getting and put him in charge of fundraising for a new "permannent practice facility" for mbb and wbb programs. Sounds like he's someone who wouldn't waste any time in reaching out to the community.

  37. Don't think we should throw stones. After all, these guys couldn't find Lubbock when starting from Houston. Seems to me we had several student athletes who couldn't find the classroom while living on campus. Just sayin...

  38. No doubt he's a legit 5* board op prospect. However, I think he wants to change positions. Not sure where he feels he should be playing in the broadcast, but you gotta think that with his skillset and coaching he's already obtained, the transition should be smooth. Surely the coaches in the RTVF department will be able to ease the transition and I expect Grubes to have a nice career at UNT. Hopefully we'll hear him as a sideline reporter during the football games. Jub-Jub to Grubes back to Jub-Jub!

  39. I think Rivals has Grubes rated as a 4 star recruit for RTV, while Scout has him as a 3. Interesting. I mean, no doubt he is talented, but it isn't like we just landed a 5 star Mike Doocy, right??? Thoughts? And how do the Alums of the program feel? Will he be instantly accepted by the likes of GreenGuyBass, or will he upset the chemistry by hogging all the attention. Interesting times in the UNT RTV program. EDIT: Is Grubes considered a JUCO transfer?
