Adios Coach. I'll never root for the success of anything associated with UT.... so I hope you do tons of losing in Austin!8 points

I think that is dilemma we have: 1. We want someone with head coaching experience. We don't have the cache (like a Texas) to pull someone from a big time program to come here and coach. That either means getting a head coach from a smaller conference or someone in a lower division. Then of course there is getting an Associate Head Coach who used to be a head coach, but you have to realize they are not a head coach anymore for a reason. 2. We don't want an up and coming assistant. Kim Mulkey was an up and coming assistant and you see where she has taken Baylor in a few years. I think if we focus on programs that are consistently in the NCAA tournament, and teams in the Big 12 - then I think we can find a quality assistant that has the ties to the area that can really boost our program. Just my 2 cents!4 points

Aston was a great coach for NT and hopefully at least jump started the team into the right direction. I don't think anyone would turn down UT and hundred of thousands in additional pay to stay at NT, but on the other hand: I am not going to thank any coach for signing a long term contract with NT and jumping after one year. I hope at some point, Universities actually try to enforce contracts and make them beneficial to both parties. This an example of why I rant about long term coach's contracts, they are completely one sided.4 points

I don't think the Constitution had as much to do with the global culture as our leaders' penchant for getting involved with foreign wars. Up until the 20th century, we were an isolationist nation still operating under the same Constitution. And Ginsberg saying she thinks the document is outdated for starting a new frame of government doesn't mean she detests the Constitution. I think the graphics for the game "Lemmings" is outdated, but it doesn't mean I don't still love that blasted game.3 points

Quit having opinions bro. What we all need to do is just sit back and wait for everything to play out.3 points

This is one of more logically sound and well-thought out responses I've seen in the Eagle's Nest. Thank you...clearly you and Rick won't share the same opinion, but considering your temperate and sound retort I could only assume a man of his character would reply in kind. Certainly he wouldn't take but one sentence from such an eloquent response and belittle it with any sort of ridiculous and hyperbolic rhetoric that rather than pay any heed to the crux of your sentiment would simply to serve to reinforce his already pre-conceived notions.2 points

You have to give Joe your Souvenier-cup-size coke first before you actually get the jersey, so that's an extra $6 in the coffers each week! Hello Baseball Stadium!2 points

Every fan that buys a seat in the "wing zone" gets a chance to "catch" a autographed jersey from Mean Joe Greene. Now, it's not really a catch but a drawing held each home game after the 3rd quarter. The jumbo tron would show Mean Joe "throwing" a jersey toward the fans (toward the camera) and the lucky winner would be announced over the PA system. "Hey Mean Green fans...Catch." And then the winner's name would be called.2 points

Family section is actually the lower bowl beneath the wingzone. I love my seats, corner of the endzone. At less than $15 per seat a game plus 4 drinks and 4 offerings of grub it is the best deal in town. For those considering, you can get on a 3 - 4 month payment plan, break it up and become part of the family.2 points

Student Season Passes at ATM is $225. Bench seats $425 plus required donations. $24 a seat is a steal for D-1 College football game tickets.2 points

24 is a good price, no matter what the opponent. I sympathize with any alumn trying to get in to see their football game. I also understand you want to draw the casual family in for an experience. But where does the AD draw the line? I think UNT football should be taken seriously and priced above a night out bowling, or a local farm baseball game when they have 0.25 hot dogs.2 points

First I'll start off by admitting that outside of UNT college hoops, I'm not much of a fan. In fact, outside of the mavs and UNT hoops, I really don't care for the sport in general compared to hockey, and of course football and baseball. It is a good workout to play a little round ball, but spectating.... meh. So some on here were griping about not having good enough laundry represented. Now, we've got the 2 winning-est programs in college hoops history going at it, and I could not possibly be more disinterested. To me, there is no intrigue at all. Ho hum, Kansas might rack up another championship...or ditto for Kentucky. Meh. Granted, they earned their spots by fighting through a the big tournament. No gripes there(it still baffles me people were griping about the finalists last year on this board). But, I have no connections to either university...and since they've won so much it is just a resounding meh every time I see this being hyped up on espn and whatever other tv/radio station is speculating about it. Anyways, had a great time Saturday in the basketball game. Nice exercise, and as far as I could tell, nobody got hurt. Go Mean Green!1 point

Going to be very difficult for NT to hold on to Aston's commits, luckily she signed 5 early recruits. Hopefully, NT can get a coach that can hang on to most of them.1 point
-
It sucks, but I suspect you'd do the exact same thing. I know I would. Not a lot of opportunities for women's basketball coaches to make big money. You take the chance when you can. And whether anyone on this board likes it or not, Texas is a big opportunity. One that 99% of the coaching population wouldn't turn down. I wish her all the best!1 point

My question is more along the lines of if Aston expressed interest in UNT first, did she get permission from her previous employer first? If indeed UT pursued Aston without permission (which it looks like that was the case), I'm just baffled as to why there isn't any foot stomping and lawyers lining up to take care of the issue. Maybe RV is playing it cool, and I'm totally fine with that if that's the case, but when this whole thing ends, there better be a hefty check on UT stationary heading to the UNT Athletics office.1 point

Talked to a friend of mine recently who has a kid playing HS football...he said their HS football season tickets are pretty darn close to that if you want reserved seats in the middle of the field. Ticket prices at UNT are a bargain! There really is a price level for just about everyone....the ardent fan, the casual fan, the recent grad, the student...etc., etc. I understand what NT03 is trying to say, so no argument with the idea, but just feel that ticket prices at UNT are really decent and there are many ranges and price point levles...everyone who is at all interested should be able to come to Apogee and enjoy UNT football without breaking the bank.1 point

Getting my Master's in '10, I was able to jump on the Young Alum pricing. They didn't restrict me to the Young Alum section (student side corner) and let me grab my seats in 208 with the discount. I would imagine they would work something out for family packs as well to fill the Alumni side, or at least consider it. When I decide to start dragging my two kids (still 1 and 3.5) to the games I'll see about the family pack pricing - but if I gotta move, I'll be shelling out the 500 bucks for my family to sit in the same kick-a seats and not in the Zone. My seats at $105 / each a season are a bargin and I would feel the same if they were $120.1 point

High school is about development and growth. Not about winning at sports. As much as I am a fan of sports, I think it wrong to invest in large amounts of money to see schools win... Even if it were voted by on by those of the city. It is a shame and shame on them. Sends the wrong message about what is important.1 point

Watched Winfield many times at the Snake Pit during the MVC days and man could he jump. Had springs on his legs. May Leroy rest in peace.1 point

Couldn't agree more. Love the high level of accountability and discipline this program is being run with under the fine leadership of Coach Mac and his entire staff. I would highly suggest to everyone on here to try and attend a workout this spring to witness it up close and personal.1 point

Just thinking ahead.... Let's say DMac turns this thing around and we're selling out Apogee game after game, win after win. Would a salesman really be the ideal guy to lead this guy onward? I speculate if DMac were in Norman trying to sell OU Football the same way to Soonernation, they'd probably feel patronized.1 point

I've referenced this before and I think it's a great idea. At KState they have a Loyalty Season ticket program. If you go to at least 5 of 6 home games your season ticket price is $99 from year to year. In our case something like $50-$75 seems like a fair price. I've been told that might be cheaping down the stadium and the program. My thoughts these coaches and these players don't give a dam how much you paid to get in the stadium they just want you there cheering for the team. Now addressing getting these students to come to a game for free, I give up on how to fix that problem because that blows my mind.1 point
