  1. Here it goes (I can feel the backlash coming ) Yes, I know this is a fan board and it’s a place to discuss, vent, and make suggestions… However the constant references that the Athletic Department … •Does not care about student grades (when a student fail) and they must not have been paying attention •They are not trying to get into the Alliance •They do not give us enough information •They didn’t try hard enough to get a good home schedule •Etc. There seems to be a group that is going to be unhappy no matter what in the hell happens. Does the AD do everything right – NO; and I’m sure they would tell you as much. Look, having a good time passing out opinions and constructive criticism is great and can be eye opening, but do some of you really think you know as much as you would like everyone to think you do by the post? Do you guys really think the AD does not care? Some really great posters, that have been around for a long time seem to have really gotten to the point where it seems to put them in pain and misery to follow the Green . Please, try and have a little fun.

  5. History has been proven wrong. Didn't we set our yearly attendance record last year? Draw 29K for Houston after another SEC blowout? Students will show up for the game, it's a Tuesday night in October, students will be there. The alumni need to man up and show up, if they don't, it's pathetic and they are embarrassing. You think Sooner, Longhorn, or hell, even ULL fans would miss this game? NO. This game is way different than the Troy game. There is way more student pride now than there was before, we have a beautiful new stadium, parents/family will want to come, and we should be having a fairly good season. It should end up as a major Sun Belt clash. Okay, 7 months. Man up. Request off.

  6. This thread is completely pathetic and you guys are so out of touch it's not even funny. You may be a bunch of whiny people who can't ask off for a Tuesday night game a year in advance, but most will and WILL BE incredibly excited that we're on ESPN. Enough with the bitching. Seriously. Having 5 games sucks but it's an easily winnable schedule. 7+ wins are EXPECTED. People will show up. Knowing that we don't suck this year, fans will come. It's not like before. When we were good before, it was because "Oh, the Sun Belt sucks, who cares? Our stadium is a dump." People will show up. Get rid of the bad FAU and MTSU weather, you have a really good attendance yearly average. Look what winning does: see ULL.

  8. And if TFLF is correct, 5 home games again in 2014. I would normally say plenty of time to get this changed, but, then again, that is what I said about this year. And it didn't happen. Not acceptable. How come every other program, many in the Sun Belt are able to manage their schedule to ensure 6 home games EVERY year, often hosting a BSC team at home. Meanwhile, we get 5 home games and freaking Texas Southern as the only OOC in the 2nd year of a new stadium! This is bad planning and bad scheduling, plain and simple. No, I am not trying to tell anyone how to do their job, but I am smart enough to recognoze when there is a major problem. And this is a MAJOR problem.

  10. (interesting excerpts from an article in B's R 2 years ago) Play in a Weak Conference Whether you are trying to build your program or you are an existing, tradition-rich team, your first move should be to get involved in the weakest conference you can find. Be sure to avoid playing in a BCS—or "elite"—conference so you stand no chance of being beaten by much tougher competition than you will face in your chosen, pathetic conference. Head off complaints from other programs, experts and fans that you do not play anyone by making sure to schedule a game or two out of conference each season against teams from the elite ranks that are no better than middle-of-the-pack contenders or lower in the much stronger conferences. Do not forget to claim that no one wants to play you in an effort to deflect attention away from the fact that you will play 10 or 11 cupcake games the rest of the season. You might even consider going independent and playing whomever you want to week after week. Then the claim that your conference is weak would not apply, and you could simply default to saying no one will play you. When asked who is turning you down, stick to subterfuge and cloak-and-dagger tactics by saying that you will not name any specific programs "out of respect" for those teams. Do not, under any circumstances, schedule a larger number of "elite" teams than necessary (one) to "legitimize" your competition level. This could result in more losses than intended and keep you out of the big game. For reference, see Notre Dame. Undefeated Is Undefeated After following step one, it is likely that people will begin to point out that you are only playing "Pop Warner" teams every game. Laugh them all off and point out that you played Louisville or Oregon State (i.e. middle-of-the-pack contenders or lower) in Week 3 of the season, and that should more than make up for playing teams that amount to no more than New Mexico State the other 11 games. If this excuse does not work, remember to claim no one will play you. This is your mantra. Never forget it. Regardless of how ridiculously poor the competition level you face every week is, just be certain that you win every game by a solid margin. You absolutely do not want a team like Idaho State sneaking up on you while you are prepping for your next tough opponent like San Diego State. And winning every game should be enough for the rest of the nation. Sure elite teams will be playing Top 25 teams for as many as half their games each season, but undefeated is undefeated even if you do it against "powerhouses" like UNLV. Besides, playing perceived weak teams for 95 percent of your season will keep your team fresh since they will not have to endure the weekly pounding from much stiffer competition like everyone else. Complain to the US Government Eventually, no matter what you do—no matter how closely you follow this recipe for success—there will be those that see your supposed accomplishments as less than deserving of the merit you so desperately want. So when beating the snot out of lollipop teams like San Jose State 11 games a year and sprinkling the occasional perennial underachiever like Oregon State in for flavor does not get the rest of the nation to agree that you should be viewed as deserving of national title consideration, write your local congressman or senator. Ask them to appeal to the current administration and force the "establishment" to allow you to compete against them in the title game even though you do not compete against them all season long and instead opt for an Idaho high school slate. Remember, your team should be quite fresh having played 10 or 11 scout teams while the elites should be roughed up quite a bit after playing their own much tougher schedules. Since you will only have to win this one difficult game against a team that has been softened up for you, finish them off on a neutral field and you will have a great shot at winning it all. If you can pull off this small but significant feat—at least in your own eyes—the rest of the nation has no choice but to welcome you as a powerhouse program, do they not? So there you have it. You too can change your program from an anonymous nobody to a legitimate national title contender by following these few simple steps. So if you are an aspiring up-and-comer or a struggling former title contender, this easy recipe for success should be exactly what you are looking for. It has worked for the Boise State Broncos and it can work for you, too. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/493666-boise-state-formula-for-success-and-a-shot-at-a-bcs-title

  12. This is what bugs me the most. I've got two sets of friends who came to games this year but when they go to look at this schedule to see if they want to commit to buying season tickets, they are going to say, well only 5 games, one is TSU, on I can't make because it's Tuesday, so 3 games. I think I'll pass. All of this is in the 2nd season of the stadium where it should be easier to sell tickets, becuase peoeple started to notice things are getting serious in Denton, but then this schedule says, not so much.

  13. It will be awesome when the seats still cost the same (or more) as a 6 game season and we replace houston and indiana with TS and SA. Weekday football will never end unless people take a stand and refuse to watch it. I'll be taking the day off since half the point of the gameday experience is to tailgate but this sucks since I really don't get much vacation time with my job. I hate everything about this schedule. Tuesday nights are for basketball.

  16. Wow! This almost smacks of facetiousness. Northern Illinois was guilty of the same thing that he's accusing Temple of doing back in the 90s. They left the MAC, foundered around and finally went to the Big West before they came back into the fold. The MAC is truly becoming a joke. They only have a few good teams and most of them don't draw flies. Nine of their 13 teams averaged less than 16,200 last year. Ironically, six of them just crawled over the magic 15,000. Eastern Michigan and Kent State take turns having the lowest average attendance in the FBS. This past year Eastern Michigan averaged a whopping 4,267! Three still have stadiums that seat less than 30,000, which was lower than the minimum allowed when they joined the FBS. Can you blame a football-only member for seeking a better conference? Especially one who was their attendance leader.

  17. Outside of donors , fans/prospective fans , students , Alumni , recruits and casual football fans in the Denton area, I'd say not many. Let's play fill in the blank : My neighbor whom I've been trying to get to come to a game in Apogee - Hey Bob , how about this year ? We host _______ , u should come out. My co workers whom I got to come to the IU game last year who tailgated & had a great time. Hey guys , let's tailgate this year for _______ Got an alumni friend whom I roomed with for a few years to come out to the Houston game last year... This year it will be , want to come see_______ ? June Jones says to the big OL , Hey son , how about you come check out the campus and watch us play Texas a&m Dennis Franchione says, hey we are hosting Tech Tech & Nevada. Come give us a look see Rice is hosting UCLA , NMSU is hosting BYU , UTEP hosting OU , Monroe hosting Baylor, etc etc This is a business , you have to keep the customers happy . Outside the 500-1,000 hardcore fans,u have to be able to sell the product. This schedule is epic fail from a business standpoint. You can't sell this to the casual fan. We will have much lower #'s this year. Also , while I feel like bitchin , having LSU to start it off will not help. You schedule these types of games as late as possible. You want to catch them when they could care less. Try to do it in between conference games. Think ULM would have beaten Bama If that were the 1st game of the year? Playing a team to kick off the season you get their undivided attention. Starting off the season with a potential 40-7 type of score you get the people saying " same ol UNT" .On the flip side of that , we win & Apogee is near capacity vs Texas Southern You don't build a badass stadium and in only it's 2nd year have a hard time fielding a schedule. Just my 2 cents. GMG !!! On a positive note , I think 7-5 is a real possibility

  35. The final four games; The already reported against Weatherford, Odoh had 15 points and 13 rebounds 10 pts and 10 rebounds against Temple 10 pts and 17 rebounds aganst McLennan 15 pts and 18 rebounds against SWC Year averages 12.4 pts, 14.3 rbs, 4.7 blocks, 55% fg%, 61% ft%, 2.1 turnovers No matter who returns next year for NT, Odoh looks like he is just what NT needs in the middle

  36. I don't care if he scores at all. If Tony comes back, we will be in no short supple of scores (assuming the unnamed 3 get their S together). I think that may limit Odoh a little. As long as he rebounds and plays solid interior defense, I could care less if he ever got an offensive touch.

  37. LaRon Dendy (Middle Tennessee, Sr., F) Player of the year. Is the conference throwing Dendy a bone or something? I am sure Dendy is a good player but is he good enought to be assured of going to the NBA? Who did the voting on this? Did they not see Tony play?
