I'd like to take credit for this win. Me traveling here and all : )9 points

Neither. The last thing we need is to be in the same conference as one of these schools. We don't need two more Texas universities to recruit against. If we are lucky they will get stuck in the dying WAC and be forced to drop back to 1-AA. If we get to join the Alliance then I guess it would be okay for them to be in the Sunbelt (but I'd rather they be completely gone). I have nothing against either school, but I don't see how having them around helps us.4 points

This isn't the 1940's anymore. Much easier said than done without the consequence that could result of doing that.3 points

It took political courage to order that mission. Americans blamed President Carter for the failed Iran hostage rescue mission, and they should credit Obama with the successful Bin Laden mission. No one is arguing that he's the only one who deserves credit. Many of Obama's top advisors were hedging their bets on whether to go in. Biden was against it. Obama took the chance, trusted the Navy SEALs and justice finally came to Bin Laden. Obama said during the presidential campaign that he'd make the hunt for Bin Laden a top priority. He did. Key provisions of health reform are enormously popular. Seventy one percent of Americans approve of the provision that stops insurers from barring people with pre-existing conditions, according to a January Harris Interactive poll. I don't expect you to credit Obama with the same accomplishments I do. From my perspective as a Democrat and someone who thought Bush dropped the ball on Iraq and Bin Laden, I think Obama's done a hell of a lot and deserves another term. None of the Republicans trying to replace him is offering a positive agenda for what they'd do about things like the health insurance crisis. All they offer is opposition to Obama. Who cares? The time to have that argument was four years ago. His important pre-presidential accomplishment was saving the country from President McCain.3 points

I think it's too early to focus on adding the twins. We could have a chance to build rivalries with Rice and UTEP, as well as Tulsa. That would be much better in my book. If the door to the alliance is closed to us, after this round of realignment, than we can look at whether or not the Sun Belt needs to expand and where. I think it's way too early to start adding teams.3 points
-
It's a no-brainer....both. They are infinitely better than the F-who's and WK-who. It's not much of an exaggeration to say that I could count the fans from those schools that came to Fouts/Apogee on both hands. WE NEED A REAL RIVALRY........FROM TEXAS.3 points

Either the coaches are getting soft or the team is really getting it. 5 Star performances are the norm on the Winter work out score cards. I am soo ready for Spring Football!2 points

Don't mind rjmunthe you Texas State folks...he hates everything.2 points

Just to make a point, but I think Texas St has a lot more fans than UTSA. UTSA played @ SHSU this year and traveled a handful. Just because they came to the homegames in SA doesn't mean they're true fans, a lot of gimmick/freebie takers there. Texas St has a lot more tradition and alums in DFW., we have a history with them - I guarantee they'd bring more to Apogee than UTSA.2 points

Here are some more questions: Why do some GMG'ers feel they need to go to CUSAbbs and 'campaign' for UNT to be included in the Alliance? Do they think it does anything other than annoy a bunch of CUSAbbs posters?2 points
-
I voted both. While my instinct was and is against adding FCS move ups, the fact of the matter is they will have already moved up by the time they could be added. Think the fact they moved up is so bad no conference would want them? Then I guess FIU isn't being mentioned by multiple sources as a possible school for CUSA. Once you have moved up, you're there. People still refer to Boise as a JUCO after BCS bowl appearances. We've played TXST a lot in the past and our overall record against them is 29-7-3. We've dominated although most of the games took place decades ago. Much like our overall record against SMU is 4-28-1. Again, most of the games were decades ago. But any of the arguments against playing TXST echo SMUs arguments against playing us. You can't have it both ways. UTSA is just too big a school in too large a market to ignore forever. Yes, I agree they need to grow and mature but they are just too large to pretend they aren't there. Much like NT is too large and in too big a market for others to pretend we don't exist either. You can't have it both ways! As for letting them grow in the WAC, again that ship has sailed. Both will be full FBS members by the time they could join the Belt. They will in fact HAVE grown while in the WAC. By the way, here's a link to our record verses other schools.2 points

Forget Texas State and UTSA. Tulsa could and should be our real rival. I'll take a game vs Tulsa over the so-called Texas Twins. Think CUSA, not Southland !2 points

I attended a journalism conference at Texas State when I was in college. I thought the hilly campus was great and the place was filled with coeds with awesome legs.2 points

Of course they did. I've heard before that NT officials in the '60s or '70s wanted that name for our school. Being able to call themselves Texas State is going to be huge for that school over time.2 points
-
Geez. We could just join the Southland and play a bunch of Texas teams. Hell, let's just join the Lone Star conference.2 points

Killed Bin Laden, ended the Iraq war, ousted Qaddafi, saved the auto industry, kept the country out of another Depression, passed Wall Street reform and provided millions of uninsured Americans with coverage. Other than that, nothing.2 points

Groups form all the time around a common race, religion or ethnicity to work together. Is the League of Women Voters bigoted? How about AIPAC? White people don't organize around their skin color, but they do around ethnicity and nationality all the time. Are the people who organize Columbus Day parades bigoted? Am I bigoted for preferring Irish beer?2 points

Gallup, the primary poll that's been used to track presidential approval for decades: http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/gallup-daily-obama-job-approval.aspx Obama hit a low of 38 percent in mid-October 2011 and has been on a clear upward trend since then, hitting 49 percent on Feb. 6-8, 2012. As the economy has improved in recent months, Obama's approval rating has improved as well.2 points

On the whole, we white men do a lot of embarrassing things. I think bemoaning our persecuted plight might top the list, though.2 points

And the all time pioneer for women sports broadcasting on NFL Today, ie, the great Phyliss George, too. She of Denton HS and UNT fame as well. Seems Phyliss also won a Miss America title along the way too. GMG!1 point

Again, this all should not be so easy for those 2. Let them have half the experience of paying the same dues North Texas has had to pay the last 40 years and then lets revisit the two after that. Both are lucky that the Sun Belt will even be available to them; in fact, they are damn lucky GMG! PS: Some of us might tell some of the Bobcat elect that last time Dennis Francione was at SWT that he applied for the North Texas job and really wanted it bad when we pulled another boner and hired the former HFC of Marshall HS, ie, one Dennis Parker. I hope that Coach McCarney in his first year and progress seen in that first year of following a disastrous hire 6 year prior that future hires for HFC at North Texas will have similar skins on the wall that both he and his hero and mentor Hayden Fry had when we hired both of them. I don't think we ever need to go back to the multi-decade failed bid or practice of hiring assistant coaches because our record indicates that that kind of hire has never worked out at UNT in my lifetime. HINT: We've never had one to leave Denton with more wins than losses is at the top of that indicator list. And personally, I hope we don't have to talk about hiring any new HFC for another 10 or 15 years. GMG ! !1 point

Checking in from Little Rock. Hank Dickenson was on my flight this morning and chatted with me for a minute when we got in to LIT. He asked me if I already had a ticket and I said no so he said he would take care of me tonight. It's already off to a great start. Now all I have to do if figure out who he gave my name to and where do I go when I get to the arena.1 point

I'm not sure what polls you're seeing, but all the ones I've seen show otherwise. Oh, so you're clearing up the conversations I've had with people who aren't happy with Obama? Thanks, I know I can count on you "non conservatives" to corect me.1 point

Is anyone going to this game? I know its only 2 weeks before Hot Springs and it's Little Rock but I went ahead and booked a room and am going up there for it. I really wanted to make it out to a road game this year and haven't so this is my chance.1 point

There will be at least one game that will test our minutes...a couple guys getting completely gas'd. Just hope that it doesn't happen in the first two rounds?1 point

Im interested to see what the starting line ups will look like. I feel like everyone but Trey and Forrest can definitely contribute in a big way. Its going to be a lot of minutes on Mitchel and Alzee. Especially if we do not get a bye.1 point

By the same token, we've won a few really down to the wire games (like Denver). I think our 8-6 record is pretty reflective what we are right now. We still have an awful lot of talent though. I do think we have a real shot in Hot Springs, just because in a small tournament I generally think the cream rises to the top.1 point
-
What really gets me is that if you average our six conferences losses together it comes out to 3 points a game! A few free throws or a three pointer here or there and we are undefeated in conference play. This is what continues to give me hope come hot springs. 45% from the free throw line last game will never happen again. Tony will lead us to the promise land.1 point
