Bad coaching caused the foul trouble of Walton and Tony? Bad coaching caused a walkon forced to play too many minutes to step out of bounds? Bad coaching caused terrible free throw shooting? Bad coaching caused Zo to foul out in like 12 minutes? Bad coaching caused Ked and Franklin to have just about their worst games of the year tonight? Did bad coaching cause the nasty weather today? It was a crummy night for just about everyone associated with the Men's basketball program and they were shooting for a share of the lead with 26 seconds to go. Does every loss have to be followed by a tirade against JJ? Threads like this make me wanna kill myself.7 points

Plenty of people have pointed out that while JJ is not without flaw (aka human), he did not lose the game. Not only do I find it strange to call out a poster who has not posted for the past month in this forum, but I also find it odd that it's a poster whose flaw is that he gets/got excited about the possibility that UNT has been or might be good at something. Oh, and he's put together a nice little recruiting board to keep up with the guys that we're interested in and have interest in the U of NT. I know some folks here won't be happy until we're winning national championships... but while there are likely no fans (or players, for that matter) happy with how the 2nd half of the season is going, some fans try to find happiness in less ambitious, and more realistic accomplishments. I don't think they should be chided for it.4 points

After a heart breaking loss to another good belt team it is time to hit the road and take the next two games! We should definitely hit the boards in this game and dominate the glass!3 points

I don't think you can single out coaching for this loss today. Like was stated by GreenP1, just about everyone was to blame. Hell, I also will take the blame for jinxing us, because I had a tough time finding the tower light image I always post when we win. I take it as a sign we were gonna lose that it took me far longer than normal to dig it up. EVERYONE IS TO BLAME FOR THIS ONE.3 points

DENTON, Texas - Sara Stanley ignited a 31-0 first-half scoring run that overturned a two-point deficit and propelled the North Texas women to a 78-40 win over Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit, Congrats to K Sue on her 100th win. Good to finally get a blowout by the ladies today. It was also really cool getting to visit with WNBA player/coach, Basketball Hall of Famer and Olympian Nancy Lieberman today. She is such an exciting personality and had some great things to say about Johnny Jones and Karen Aston. Rick2 points

If only we had known during the season that we would make it to the tournament, attendance may have been better.2 points

By the same token, we've won a few really down to the wire games (like Denver). I think our 8-6 record is pretty reflective what we are right now. We still have an awful lot of talent though. I do think we have a real shot in Hot Springs, just because in a small tournament I generally think the cream rises to the top.2 points

What really gets me is that if you average our six conferences losses together it comes out to 3 points a game! A few free throws or a three pointer here or there and we are undefeated in conference play. This is what continues to give me hope come hot springs. 45% from the free throw line last game will never happen again. Tony will lead us to the promise land.2 points

The three foot tall kid trying to make it from half court? What could possibly go wrong with that? And for the record, the chicken slingshot should be part of every game. Gold.2 points

Look...I want you to take a bullet as much as the next guy, but let's not make it self-inflicted. Mo Green may simply not know about the YAC board for his barely intelligible and pointless ramblings. No need to off yourself, my friend.2 points

A few game notes : Even tho we played like crap, we still had a shot to win With TM , I think we still have a chance in hot springs. He is easily the best player in the league TM had a off night , might have hurt his stock. He still has trouble on the dribble around the perimeter. Also, he is very hard on himself & scouts might think he needs more self confidence Bob Marlin is the best coach in the league IMO Ran into Andre Jackson in th bathroom. Former teammate of mitchells. Belived he signed w/ south Florida ?? Most recently @ cal ST Bakersfield. I don't think he has Any eligibly left tho, I think he was there just watching Tony2 points

Come on now, some of you guys are much too young to be so cynical. Hell, what other school's alums/fans would bitch about the prospects of having a 4 star Rivals QB prospect transfer in and bitch about how many freakin' fans they would bring because of it? I don't recall seeing any kind of formula in my 45 years of following NCAA football that says what kind of recruit or transfer will bring in X number of fans in the first place. FWIW, some make it in college football and some do not, but lets give all a chance to make it especially since we've had few 4 star transfers of late who've come to UNT; albeit we have 2 who just transferred in who will be elgible this Fall. And let's also hope we have a coach who can stay in Denton several years and be so good that he leaves for a Big 10 (or 12) job with more wins than losses. I think we have that man in Coach McCarney plus....... a Rivals 4 star QB transfer who might come home with a new lease on his football life and that will not be a bad beginning for what it seems some recent indicators say will be a new conference home for North Texas beginning in 2013---which just happens to be the football season that Scotty Young would be elgible if he doesn't get "cynical'ed out of town first by a few on a message board.2 points

I totally had a brain fart and wasn't thinking about USA joining in football to bring the eastern part of the conference up to six teams. So I guess the ideal pick ups would be La Tech (with their greater than thou attitude) and any addition will have to add another Texas school as a rival/travel partner for UNT. With the east/west that would or should cut down on some travel cost. I wish the new commissioner could pull it off and make all members see that would probably be better in the long run for all teams involved instead of one or two of our members getting jumpy. Here's something else that's going to happen or at least I think it has no other choice but happen...easier to get home and home with the teams that's joining the world wide conference. With so many members that cuts down on OOC teams you can schedule. So they have three choices. 1. Play money games and take a butt kicking 2. buy home games or 3. Schedule home games with close regional teams from the SBC or WAC (if it's still around) or the MAC...no other choices out there. To go bowling you need wins so that cuts out playing over 1 for pay game and if you look at the budget for the teams in the MWC and CUSA there's not one school that can afford to buy a game with the SBC, WAC or MAC. So that means they need 2 home and home. With the cost of travel I would think most would end up scheduling regional games that will put butts in the seats. Of course I could be totally wrong on that but is there many other choices for a 18 team conference? Well I guess they could play 10 or 11 game conference schedule but that would get boring...fast2 points

My point is that $200 of weed (you said $40 earlier) shouldn't be a felony. I'd rather see cops spend their time on real criminals. I don't need to be a cop to know how stupid the laws are regarding pot. I'm not a smoker, either. I just can't believe we waste so much time on a drug significantly more harmless than alcohol that has genuine medical use. As for the idea legalizing pot would be political suicide, 50 percent of the public believe marijuana should be legalized, according to an October Gallup poll: http://www.gallup.com/poll/150149/record-high-americans-favor-legalizing-marijuana.aspx That's up 25% since 1996.2 points

Hey, I get that everyone is frustrated about how the men's game went tonight, but what about that nice win by the ladies? They really took the game away from LaLa tonight and sealed a really nice win against a pretty darn good team when they needed a win in the worst way. The ladies really show grit and hustle tonight...Stanley was over the top good in stretches tonight. And, how about Coach Aston after the game talking to the crowd? Classy lady...the Mean green nation is in for some really good women's basketball in the years to come. Get ready for it and as T.O. might say..."get your popcorn ready". Tonight said something and it said...don't count this team out in Hot Springs. They can catch lightning in a bottle with the way they can hustle and play. Do that consistently in Hot Springs and you just never know who might be wearing the Sunbelt Tourney crown when all is said and done. Fun to watch tonight ladies...thanks seniors! WELL DONE!1 point

Im interested to see what the starting line ups will look like. I feel like everyone but Trey and Forrest can definitely contribute in a big way. Its going to be a lot of minutes on Mitchel and Alzee. Especially if we do not get a bye.1 point

It certainly did create interest, and although pretty much impossible to measure, I would imagine there were additional fans in the seats because of Riley. No doubt people of Southlake were talking about UNT football more while Riley was our QB than at any time before or since. But we are talking about a Denton school, and getting the people of Denton interested in UNT football. That could be huge for the long-term success of the program.1 point

The pretending that marijuana use doesn't effect motor coordination and reaction time are laughable. Legalizing marijuana would put more dangerous drivers on the street. Of course, the problem with reality is that many either: (1) have never known anyone to be killed or seriously injured by an impaired driver, or (2) they did know someone killed or seriously injured by an impaired driver, but don't care/think it would never happen to them If you ignore the importance of public safety, you support marijuana legalization. If you accept that it is against public safety to do so, you oppose it.1 point

Are you comparing somebody selling $40 of pot to Pablo Escobar flying hundreds of kilos of coke across the Rio Grande? My granddad drove a carload of illegal hooch from Iowa to Texas during Prohibition. My uncle George slept on the boxes in his baby carrier. Oh, the shame!1 point

Emmitt just said delivering $40 of weed is a felony. If that doesn't show you how utterly ridiculous and draconian the pot laws are in Texas, I can't make the point any clearer.1 point

True. I hadn't factored in that many times in the recent future, Texas has already been a cupcake game for OU in the DFW area. Good point. Why run roughshod over two Texas teams around DFW? There's nothing left to prove, I suppose.1 point
