One group reports news and by that very process could be contrived as left leaning. The other is unapologetically far right. Has mostly pundit driven programs while still maintaining it’s Fox News badge on the lower right of your screen. Has multiple pages of internal documents that have been released to the public demonstrating exactly how far they will go to frame the narrative. And, recently has been involved in criminal activities that appear to be systemic through the multi-national corporation. So what do I mean by reporting news could be contrived as left leaning? Let’s say company X is producing paper towels and before they release their wastewater into the Trinity River they properly process it removing all harmful chemicals and bleaches. While Company Y is producing similar paper towels but in order to increase profits have neglected to treat their wastewater causing massive fish kills and furthering the problem of oceanic algae blooms. Company X is doing the things they need to do to both make a profit and be good members of society. There is no story to report back to the masses. Certainly not one that both keeps the public informed and brings in ad revenue. (these are for-profit news organizations after all) Company Y on the other hand has a story that needs to be reported. Their actions are detrimental to society and the public should know and understand exactly what they are up to. Unfortunately, in todays news environment, when Brian Williams goes on air to discuss what Company Y is doing he is just labeled left leaning, anti-jobs, anti-corporation and a tree-hugging nazi. Heaven forbid he have to report on some scandal involving a Republican congressman. It will be discredited immediately as part of his leftist news machine. I will say that I think that 24 hour news programs are a complete joke no matter the network. CNN while laughable at times is salvageable. MSNBC and Fox News are abominations to the institution of professional journalism. They demonstrate to me that society really is losing it’s ability to think for itself and in a objective manner.4 points

Been reading the Middle board a bit lately. They think we are a one man show, which I suppose since we are without Jones and Williams, it would appear so. They are admitting to not following us that closely and can't imagine Mitchell is any better than Dendy or the Center they just played at Vanderbilt in Festus Elezi. During this winning streak they also feel slighted that Dendy didn't get Player Of the Week. I know they've been excited about their streak and rightfully so, but you'd think they would pull their head out of the sand to look at what could happen in conference. So, of course, I had to look up the stats. Keep in mind Tony is a freshman. Enjoy. Dendy v Mitchell Stats I'm positive that Kermi will have them ready to get Tony into foul trouble, but their fans are really taking Mitchell lightly. This post has been promoted to an article4 points

(1) You can play your true freshman year. (Let me repeat: You can play your true freshman year). (2) Head Football Coach Dan McCarney, a self-admitted disciple of former Mean Green HFC & College Football Hall of Famer Hayden Fry. Much was expected of Coach Mac his first year in Denton and his first Mean Green team almost became bowl elgible. The trend indicators and arrows all point north. (3) Apogee Stadium: You (yes............"YOU") can be the reason we have to expand what former Dallas Cowboys Super Scout Gil Brandt called "a real Taj Mahal of a college football stadium" to 40,000 seats. The First Ever TD Scored At UNT's Apogee Stadium: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtBKaoXmTe0 (4) North Texas has 208,000 NT Exes living in the DFW Metroplex--more than any other single Texas-based university by a country mile. Might those kind of UNT connections help in your job search after you graduate; that is, if you're not playing in the NFL? (5) Have you seen the co-eds at the University of North Texas? Until I get a better sense of how well Mac appraises talent, I will hold my opinion either way. So far, I like what he has done with the talent he has, so that gives me hope that he knows what he is doing in recruiting it.3 points

Comes as absolutely no surprise to me that you have no idea what separation of church and state actually means as applied to our constitution. None at all.3 points

Thanks, harry...I've got you down. Also wanted to point out the METZLER'S BBQ logo on the page...ad banner thingy...Roy Metzler, with Metzler's BBQ has again agreed to be one of our sponsors. We will, as we did last year, hold our after event "gathering" at Metzler's BBQ on Londonderry lane just off Teasley in Denton. Good cold beer and great BBQ...so make plans to head over to Metzler's again this year after the event...we will conclude our silent auction bidding at that time as well. Really appreciate Roy Metzler and Metzler's BBQ for stepping up to help once again this year. Roy is a great supporter of UNT and UNT Athletics. Stop by Metzler's when you have a chance and have a bite and a drink to support a great local restaurant and a great member of the Mean Green Nation...thanks so much Roy and Metzler's BBQ!2 points

I'm from El Paso. When you're that far out west, anything on the other side of Midland is "East Texas." Also, I have learned since moving out here that most of you think anything on the other side of Midland is a part of Mexico.2 points

Fort Bend is a stacked division. Not sure about being East Texas? Elkins is in Sugar Land, about 30 min west of Houston. Love the size. It's tough to find 6'3 corners with track speed.2 points

That question was probably worse than your "politicians are distancing themselves from Christianity" line. Oh, and being from a Christian background, I don't think they are. It's just that when they're abused in a way that divides people, generates ill-will, to steal money from others, engage in corruption, commit hypocrisy, and intrudes on the lives of people who practice something else or nothing at all, or when they're used to rack up votes...that's when I have a problem with them. It's like a firearm. It's not bad in and of itself, it's when it's abused and mishandled - that's when its a problem.2 points

Well, I agree to an extent. You need to not only listen BUT research on your own and discover as best you can of what the candidates are saying is, in any way, factual. The facts are out there...not always easy to find, but MUCH more accurate than just listening to the parties/sides/outlets. One, in order to actually be an informed voter, needs to do much more than listen to the talking heads...of either side.2 points

I love how Fox News gets the blame for everything because they are right leaning, while every other POS news outlet leans way left and is rarely criticized.2 points

Yep. If having the "#1 class" were all it takes you'd see a lot more crystal footballs in Austin...not lopsided drubbings during the state fair2 points

June arrives in Dallas and promptly releases a number of players from the scholarship. It is announced June is going to Arizona State as their head coach. It is announced that June is not going to Arizona State, but is staying at SMU. A story is fabricated that June wanted to stay in Dallas to work on his inner-city ministry. (Google search for this ministry pulls up nothing) A player reports to the media that June was recruiting him to $MU and telling him that he would take him to Arizona State. $MU loses a number of recruits when his best recruiter, Klemm, leaves for UCLA. $MU picks up two committments from players that had given us their verbal, yet decommitted and went to $MU. Kyle Padron quits. Sounds like a program and a coach I want to commit 4/5 years of my life. Good luck Rice and Walling.2 points

--Totally agree... the economy did them in... I even like McCain but he showed terrible judgement picking Palin as a VP running mate. If that was the kind of decisions he was going to make... that would not be good. --McCain got "cheated" in 2000 race against Bush when the future Swift Boat guys [ Bob Perry of Houston et. al. (not Governor.)] came out with an ad pointing out McCain had a black child [it never mentioned she was adopted, implied otherwise]. This was done a day or day before Super Tuesday in the South... McCain quit the following week. Perry was a grad of Baylor... so much for bearing false witness on that or the Kerry situation later...2 points

They are all terrible. I don't like any of them all that much, I watch them because I'm a glutton for punishment. I listen to Rush, and I listen to Ed Schultz, they are both ridiculous and wrong on a lot of things. There, criticism of both sides. But lets just be honest, when it comes to a news outlet discussing or "reporting" on separation of church and state, fox news pundits usually come out on the side that it should be ignored and we should be teaching intelligent design in public schools and other ridiculous things like that.1 point

I think folks lean way too heavily on news stations and media outlets. Listen to all parties/sides/outlets and try to make the best guess and form what you think is right and wrong.1 point

---hmmmm re-elect... Sounds as if you think the GOP person will stand no chance. Actually I have voted for more GOP Presidential candidates than Demos. When the 90's hit and they started claiming to be more Christian... morally superior ... and not saying an bad about a fellow Republican even when they were awful... they got to the point they were way too partisan and never voting for anything the other party sponsored even if it was a good idea... So many now seem to be all about their party and not representing what is good for America (my opinion). I then leaned the other way. The last administration claiming to be conservative then doubling the debt, screwing up the economy, and invading a country that had nothing to do with 9-11 was the final straw. ..1 point

No offense taken, and I completely agree with you. Unfortunately, with today's media, it's all about film footage and the best 15 second quip they can find, or usually generate from their questions. Just look at the idiotic questions asked about Mitt's personal finances and Newts advisor role with Fannie Mae. Just looking for 15 seconds of gotcha fiootAge to put on the evening news. Sometimes i think Randy, Paula, and Steven could do a better job at moderating.1 point

This is what is screwed up with our system. We are choosing our leader based on a debate performance and not their beliefs and proposed policies? Why don't we have swimsuit and talent competitions? I may be alone, but it drives me insane each morning after one of these debates when the talking heads proclaim the "winner" of the debate which is decided by who got applause or laughs. While I never watch them, I do believe they are a good idea, just not happy with the way that the win/loss is decided. Sorry to derail and inject my opinion here, but had to let it out. And this was not a shot at you 90, but at the system.1 point
