June arrives in Dallas and promptly releases a number of players from the scholarship. It is announced June is going to Arizona State as their head coach. It is announced that June is not going to Arizona State, but is staying at SMU. A story is fabricated that June wanted to stay in Dallas to work on his inner-city ministry. (Google search for this ministry pulls up nothing) A player reports to the media that June was recruiting him to $MU and telling him that he would take him to Arizona State. $MU loses a number of recruits when his best recruiter, Klemm, leaves for UCLA. $MU picks up two committments from players that had given us their verbal, yet decommitted and went to $MU. Kyle Padron quits. Sounds like a program and a coach I want to commit 4/5 years of my life. Good luck Rice and Walling.6 points

i don't wish him and his family the best...he strung along our school. i know that is part of recruiting...but tough...it doesn't mean i have to be nice and want the boy to succeed elsewhere.4 points

I watched Jones and McNulty toss the ball to each other on the sidelines numerous times this past season. If Jones is going to another position but McNulty isn't, then someone needs to have their head examined. Jones' arm looks alot better to my untrained eye than McNulty's does.3 points

Did any other QB's visit besides Evans? I sure hate losing him to Air Force, but I can't blame a young man for attending a service academy. What's the status of Williams out of Lake Dallas? I think he's the next Seneca Wallace.3 points

Playing time for 11 of 21 signed Redshirts for 8 of 21 signed JUCO/Non-qualify for 1 of 21 signed Qui(t) for 1 of 21 signed, although he did play in one game Really, not a bad first class for McCarney and crew. There are some good players in this group that will be the foundation of our next bowl and conference championship teams.3 points

While wishing no ill will on the kid, keep this in mind...June Jones has already tried to jump ship at SMU. If they have another winning season, he'll look to jump ship again. In the long run, I think our head coaching position is more stable. That'll bode well for us as time goes along.3 points

Honestly, with Y'Barbo, Lemon. Johnson and C. Feldt being young and Fortenberry returning as a starter and upperclassmean as well as Feeley and a band of redshirts from last year, we will have plenty of time to bring these young men along and let them develop. Or, we could have another Lemon in this class. A young man that committed late and turns into a diamond for us. I like this class and oir depth. Makes me wonder, with Micah Thompson being moved to OL from DT last year, will any of these young men move to DL? Love our class and hope Rice and Walling find what they are looking for at SMU, but I don't wish SMU success and I don't like the fact that they strung us along only to bail at the 11th hour. I find it funny that $MU had to fill their class by stealing from a school they've look down their noses at forever. I can't wait for our series to resume.3 points

Chase who? Really, it is what it is..he made his choice. I hope it works out for him. He will not be part of the Mean Green Nation, so, for me...who cares any longer? Time to move along....I think UNT will be more than fine with the kids who sign with UNT because they want to play for UNT and not because it was their fallback position. Good luck Chase.....see ya. Who cares?3 points

Derek Akunne - LB/North Garland - 2 stars - Offers from Air Force, Colorado State, Western Kentucky 10 games - 20 tackles, 2.5 for loss Terrell Brooks - DT/Duncanville - 2 stars - No other offers High risk gamble; discovered why when he left the team after playing in one game. Wow! All of that experience...and, he's cut loose because of the UT transfer. Has June Jones seen Garrett Gilbert play? I'm not sure he's much better. You figure he'd want Padron at least for experience sake. Padron's numbers weren't terrible: http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/kyle-padron-1.html He went into the season with 41 TDs and 18 INTs. One bad game and June throws that all away? Hey...have fun at SMU kiddies. This is apparently the treatment you get for past performance. Padron has a redshirt year. How about this: he takes it here, then takes over in 2013 once Thompson graduates. He did fine against C-USA competition, I bet he'd do well in the Belt.2 points

I don't mean to brag... but I've run quite a few Franchises on NCAA 11... so I'm kind of an expert when it comes to this 'recruiting' thing and let me assure you, UNT will be fine if they don't have a QB in this class, it just boosts the interest of next year's QB's with the enticing thought of playing sooner...2 points

You know, comments like the first one on Vito's blog are ridiculous, to say we are limping towards signing day. In the past, we had no idea who we had until signing day. I'm sure a lot of this last minute maneuvering occurred prior to other signing days but we were never privy to that information, and we were perfectly happy with our classes. Honestly, we really don't know what kind of class we have until they start to develop. Who thought Lemon would not only start, but play as well as he did without haaving a single penalty last year? I'm happy with every young man that signs with us and can't wait to see how they develop over the next 4 or 5 years. Let's read the 2017 edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football to see the final analysis of this class. Dunbar was a two star, we were Cobbs only offer, Fitzgerald was a walk on, Lemon was a late signee, Delgado was a walk on, etc... We really don't know what we have until they spend some time with us.2 points

NO hard luck on this kid. He made his choice. Fortunately, our coaches were in the ground the whole time getting other verbals to replace them. Let's not forget, we had a really young line last year that this staff staff had playing really well. OL isn't the deepest of our concerns this time around.2 points

not surprising Walling I sure lives in the LHHS area that more closely resembles SMU than UNT anyways good luck to him in the pink and blue and to him having at least 2-3 coaches in his 5 years2 points

Just want to let folks know that I am starting the initial work on this year's GMG.Com BB game to benefit the UNT Cheer Squad. I am in contact with the new Cheer Coach, and we will soon begin the process of selecting a date/time and getting this year's framework all set out. It will, just like last year's game, be a one-game event with pre-registration required. No walk-ups...had a bit of a challenge with this concept last time around for some reason even after all the posts about signing up for the game, so I just wanted to make that clear from the very beginning so we will not have that misunderstanding again this time around. I hope everyone who participated last season will return to play again this year. Right now I am looking for sponsors for the t-shirts, program ads and for silent auction items. We raised a decent amount of funds for the Cheer Squad last year, but i would really like to do even better this time around. If you have a possible item that you could donate to the auction or if you or your business could in any way see fit to help sponsor the game, please PM me. I am trying to start early enough so that folks have time to help if they are of such a mind. If you would simply like to purchase a program/flyer ad...please PM me...there will be space for full-page, 1/2 page and 1/4 page ads...not very expensive either....If you would like the front inside cover or the back inside cover let me know. I am going to save the back cover itself for our GAME SPONSOR if we can find one. I know several folks on the board own local businesses and/or like to find ways to help. So, let me know, and we'll get together. Also, if you have interest in playing this year...let me know. Playing fees will remain at $25/per player and that will include a game t-shirt. I know the date is not set as yet, but would just like an early indication to see if there is enough interest in getting this going. I think there is, but I need confirmation of that "thought". Yes, the half-time half-court shot contest will return again this year! Come on Tasty...I know you can play this year...Quoner.......1 point

With the scholarship allotment possibly full or close to full, I would be surprised to see him at NT, and I hate that. I really think he is a sleeper that will be an excellent DL for someone. From what I hear around town out here, he likes Tech to the point that I see him either walking on or accepting a grayshirt to them over a full offer from us or another school. Just my two cents.1 point

Well, since it benefits a former North Texas player, I will be glad to cheer for New England. Geezz, some of you guys who refuse need to take a chill pill. If it ain't the Cowboys playing in the SB, I'll always go with the team that has a NT player on board.......especially if he's starting.1 point

Not saying we couldn't have used this young man, but it sure appears he was replaced fairly quickly and easily. I like dmac and company's recruiting so far. I hope next year is another step forward, and then maybe we won't have last minute defectors next recruiting season. Or maybe fewer... Who knows.1 point

If we're counting on other schools to fill 20% or more of our stadium as a long-term plan, then we are doing something VERY WRONG. Do you disagree with that?1 point

We are fortunate to have someone like Johnny at the helm who seems genuinely happy and proud to be here. Fans are quick to point out that we will be here long after coaching staffs have moved on, but this is a staff who has been around as long as I have been a fan. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a staff that cares and wants to be here. Happy to have him here. We have more potential to land some big recruits in the future. Having one Tony Mitchell is great. The thought of having other highly regarded ballers coming to play at North Texas is sweet. *crossing my fingers*1 point

Mitt picked a good time to have a good debate performance. Newt was not good, and it could cost him Florida and a chance at the nomination. I don't know if I'm happy or sad about this. It appears that the republicans will settle on another bland, Rhino candidate (McCain, anyone??) who will not stand a chance against Pres. Obama. Is this really the best this country has to offer?1 point

Newsflash. The State of Texas has a budget problem. Unfortunately, unlike the federal government, they can't just ignore it and go into debt. They have to balance the budget each year. Yep, education, along with MANY other state funded projects, is getting cut. That's life. I do share your disdain for Perry, but not on this issue.1 point

Hopefully I can make this. I feel athletically capable, anyways, despite no dribbling skillz and my uncanny ability to miss the rim on every shot. We dwarfs are natural sprinters.1 point
