I'm not going to knock these recruits, but I just can't get excited when we are scrambling to fill scholarships because our original recruits bailed on us for SMU. I'm not happy right now. I really hope we can land Evans.3 points

And who did we beat out for Jarmarcus' services? He looks slow to me.2 points

Seems like Harris has been at Berkner forever! Starter with Jordan Mickey as freshman. Equal to Chris Jones as players. Coach was fired earlier because of some concerns by the UIL. Mickey, currently at Arlington Grace Prep, has Tony Mitchell ability. I thought he was going to fly under the radar but he's being exposed. Anyway, Harris makes sense here as I don't think he is a national recruit but a very good Texas guard. Harris and Mickey would rival this years newcomers.2 points

Aren't you always spouting about the power of the meme? That meme is reserved for SBC Tournament time.2 points

If we're not working on ways to actually FILL Apogee stadium for every home game, we're doing something even worse. We don't need them to bring as many as Army, Navy, or even KSU, but they need to bring more than FIU or FAU. I like going to a game where there is crowd excitement, and yes, some of that coming from the visitors' side. Honestly, if we consistently get crowds of 30,000, I'm ok with 5,000 of those from the other side. Let's get the attendance numbers higher before we start talking about who we don't want to be in the stands.2 points

I agree - this was a great game to watch and the post play was the best of the year. Got a great team - you bet your Aston we do2 points

Congratulation Coach Aston on your career 99th win and your 13th at UNT - You have your team running wide open without any fear - Keep up the great work - The Banner needs a Buddy – I know you can bring it home2 points

If this "ridiculous" 22 team conference brings home TV revenue, it's an easy yes.2 points

Well, as far as local students/alums/dentonites are concerned, neither does ULM, FIU, FAU and WKU. I believe that UTSA and Texas State are significantly better for us in the catagory of "butts-in-the-seats".....especially if it's a November game.2 points

http://www.meangreen...TCLID=205369203 The Mean Green defense has improved by 16.5 points, the most in the nation Tied with Cal State Northridge in leading the nation in best turnaround. Also, Godbolt needs 20 points this saturday to hit the 1,000 point mark to become only the 13th player to do so. Way to go Mean Green! Rick Click here to view the article1 point

Bingo! Cyril Lemon, Mason Y'barbo and another whose name I forget will be in only their 2nd year this season...with twelve games experience under their belts. Add in the Feldt brothers and we should have the luxury of bringing along slow any OL commits.1 point

I agree with you Joe. Beating out Southern for one recruit and Delta State and Missouri So. on another does not excite me in the least. I always thought the state of Texas had pretty good recruits we could go after. Call me negative, but I don't expect to land Evans either.1 point

Both young men, Walling and Trussel, rate 5.4 on Rivals. Only one wants to be here. This worked out just fine. We have seen too many examples in the last several years of what happens when a players heart is not in it.......1 point

Trust that they saw something in their scouting and trust that they will be developed by the coaching staff.1 point

I'm just going to have to trust whoever found the two Louisiana kids. Always concerns me when I see who else offered.1 point

This kid is #1 on my wish list right now. It is pretty clear Osborn won't see the field (so we don't know what we have in him) and McNulty showed me absolutely nothing to believe he's the QB of the future. Our team was night and day different when the starter went down last year...can't afford that if we want to continue ascending as a program.1 point

I think more important is that Fuentes is their new HC and real OC arriving from TCU recentlu. He is a great recruiter and that concerns me, although Mac has tended to have a backup visit us, Rentfro and Trussell, if he thinks we may lose a recruit. I haven't heard if we had another signal caller in this weekend. I would really like to see us get Evans. I think he could really develop into something special.1 point

Correct. I think MTSU is already a lock. We got 5 teams battling for 4 spots( UNT,DEN,UALR,ULL,FAU) I also wouldn't be surprised if WKU makes a late run. I think if we can split the road games (2-2) we should be good1 point

Shaft hit nail on head. Rice wouldn't bring many more visiting fans to Apogee than FIU. Rice would, however, bring out more UNT fans, especially marginal UNT fans. GBT1 point

And that will slip up on you when you least expect it. Some are just more vulnerable than others & I'm doing R & D on that as we post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzlG28B-R8Y1 point

Pretty loud group at times as well. Noon start may have hurt a little...some of the students were probably not even awake at noon yet!1 point

Watson finished the season with 48 tackles and a team-high 18 tackles for loss and six sacks. Impressive numbers for a player most teams schemed around.1 point

I don't know what you're whining about. We don't stand a chance in this game.1 point

the u-gay stank eliminates him with the simple haters. our fans know hoops. i know it's hard to believe by some of our posters but it's true. most don't think he was very good at south al and his debacle at arkansas makes him too large of a risk. he built his teams at south al the maestri way. everyone else's txfers and jucos. nothing wrong with some. elgrace wilborn (tenn. txfer) and tyrone brazleton (juco) were 2 of my all time favorites but he built south al for one shot to get out of dodge. if you can't win at the land grant university (ark) you can't be a success at a school with a direction in your name. imho. we had fans that didn't like the u-gay stank on ralph willard as a pitino asst. but embraced him when he got here so that is not an elimination factor. failphrey was one of the 'unforgettables'. those guys have a sense of entitlement in the commonwealth. his teammate reechie farmer ran...and won the state ag commissioner. he ran it like a union boss. giving jobs to friends. taking caribbean vacations with friends. he recently ran for lt. governor and thanks to allah (allahu akbar) he lost. i wouldn't vote for him for dogcatcher. not because of his u-gay ties. because he's a hillbilly from coal country that thinks because he's an unforgettable he can do what he wants and our ignernt voters will rubber-stamp it. i know this is tl;dr for most folks that could care less about western but bottom line: i don't like his coaching.1 point

I seem to remember (too tired to confirm) Memphis already having a stud QB in their class/as a transfer this year. Not sure that is attractive to Evans if he wants to play QB @ college level.1 point

I'm with P1 on this one. He woulda fouled out with a different set of Sunbelt refs. These guys were solid and let them play, wish that was how every game was officiated.1 point

A two tiered post season would kill the lower tier bowls. 16 teams means 4 weeks of play offs. The TV pecking order would go NFL, NCAA Playoffs, then the bowls. This would shove the bowls to the middle of the week throughout the month of December. Are sponsors still going to get behind the smaller bowls if their played when no one will watch them?1 point

I certainly wouldn't want to be part of something that had a great potential to fall apart. However, we so need to have some conference mates that "student/alum/local resident-joe/jane-six-pack" can recognize. As good as they might be in any given year, FI-Who, or FA-Who, or WK-Who, or ULM just doesn't do it for the general public. Now, we still need to be working (and very hard) at building/re-building our own traditions and sense of loyalty to our beloved University (my recent rants). So that we get the maximum number of butts-in-the-seats regardless of opponent. However, getting someone like Tulsa, New mexico, NMSU, Colorado State, Wyoming etc...into Denton on a regular basis only enhances the "traditions-rebuilding" effort. Even Texas State and UTSA are much better choices than the "who?" Universities that I listed above.1 point

If protocol was to tell my boss, I would tell him and still call the police. But I would expect him to call the police as well. I someone came to me and asked what they should do, I would help them call the police and/or go down there with them myself. I am not equating them, but both bear responsibility. Paterno knew that nothing had been done by his superiors and did nothing. He should have taken the cue there to make sure something happened. He continued to allow Sandusky on campus and to use facilities. Paterno had lots of power on that campus and used none of it to try to right the situation.1 point
