  1. Amazing that people on this board talk so much more about TT than Josh. Josh was a great player.

  3. Mean Green Sports: Pykes Peak I think this is what a lot of us were looking for...a comment of some sort. Not mentioning what appears to be a (at least for now) set OOC schedule means that NT is still actively trying to change it. At least that is how I interpret it. There are a couple of other good tidbits in there including upgrading the Super Pit video boards.

  14. I would guess how you dress up or down for a football game is a generation thing. If the weathers is nice I might wear a UNT green polo/golf shirt or a green "button-down"(I know, waaaaay outta style)shirt, and (hold on to your hat!) LOAFERS! With or without the penny slot! If it's cold or rainy, I'll wear jeans and Nike's. But, you know what? No matter what I wear I still count in the attendance numbers at the games. Some of you people are ridiculous. Five pages on a recruit that might end up at Smut. We'll find someone else.

  22. New boards must be lighter. When I was at KU they said same thing. But now KU has center hung video board. My new TV weighs 50% of what my old TV weighs. Assume same would be true of video boards.

  29. Wow. Talk about your revisionist history. Nixon carries 49 states Nixon carried 49.... FORTY NINE... of the states in the 1972 election. I guess, by your determination, LBJ turned all of America republican. F O R T Y N I N E S T A T E S!!!! It's pretty clear that the democrats just ran a really crappy candidate that year and this has nothing to do with the turning of the south. In contrast, let's look at the 1976 election and the 1968 election. Carter wins Presidency by winning south Humphrey and Wallace take the south Now, let's examine Reagan and beyond: Reagan domination in 1980 Reagan annihilation in 1984 Bush castration in 1988 Clinton coup in 1992 Clinton re-election in 1996 W. in 2000 w. gets re-elected Socialism arrives ;-) Looking at all of these maps, a couple of things strike me. 1) How infuriated Americans were with Jimmy Carter in 1980 (the President most like Pres. Obama). He drove the southern vote to the Republican party, where it stayed until 2) Bill Clinton managed to capture it back somewhat in 1992 and for the most part in 1996, only to have a terrible sex scandal in his second term. From 2000 forward, the south has been staunchly conservative. Maybe after the double whammy of failed policy by Carter and failed person by Clinton, Southerners had just had enough.

  30. This thread is the logical next step when you spend years of time entertaining uniform talk. You know all those fears/arguments made about how gay weddings would decay the institution of marriage? Well, replace gay weddings with uniform talk and marriage with a football message board and you'll see exactly how this corruption works above. Don't argue - it's science.

  32. The South didn't come close to going Republican until Reagan came along and the conservative wing of the democrat party was told they were not welcome in the party anymore. The South absolutely did not go republican because of being driven away by LBJ.

  33. I tend to agree, but then I think about how long that takes and how quickly things move in college athletics and it just gets harder and harder to see a time in the future where we are playing a conference game against anyone outside of the SBC and how little those games draw in attendance. I tried to get 4 or 5 friends and family to go with me to the Western Kentucky game earlier this year. All said no because they had no interest in spending time and money to go watch us play the Hilltoppers. When we played Houston and Indiana, it was a different story.

  35. Yes -- the coaches and players figuring out how to get the ball to Tony consistently is the biggest missing piece of the puzzle. He stays engaged, doesn't take silly fouls and doesn't come back to the bench with that sad, hangdog expression that makes me want to pat his future millionaire head. If we figure this out, the outside shooting will be the next thing to improve.

  37. 90, my point is that in a game when the guards weren't hitting they fed the ball to Mitchell. I have been encouraged that lately when the team is not hitting the 3, they have not continued to force them up. Early in the season, we would have continued shooting long range bombs with no results (witness Texas Tech).

  38. I think if a western slot opens up, the folks in Logan, Utah are going to get it. There is no presence in that state anymore and the Mountain Network needs that state. I doubt San Jose State will get anymore consideration than we do. The hardest thing to accept about this all to me is that absolutely no one in college football above our level thinks we bring anything to their conference. Location, enrollment, alumni size, improved results, great facilities, etc...I guess it means nothing to CUSA or the MWC folks. The real question here is WHY NOT? Why can't we get anyone to see this all and say that we are a school that should be added? Is it just because of football's poor record during the latter Dickey years and the Dodge era? Because if it is, that seems amazingly short-sighted. As a matter of fact, I don't buy that as an excuse. Anyone with half a brain could look at the attendance bump we have enjoyed since Dodge came here and now with Coach Mac and the new stadium and see that if we got to play teams from a better-known league that we could draw even better. I just don't get it. I will say it again, but the more I look at our situation, the more the reality sets in with me that Apogee Stadium probably saved our football program, but it won't save us from staying at this level of football, whether that continues as FBS in the future or not.

  41. Last week our guards accounted for about 50 pts. Mitchell only had 6. It seems like the team is starting to take what the defense gives them. Don't expect Loyola Marymount three pt numbers from this team. They will win games in transition, on the boards, and at the line.

  42. NT can and should beat everyone in the Belt on their home court maybe with the exception of the MUTS; but they play here this year. Then again if NT has guard play like tonight, it will be difficult for them to beat anyone even at Denton.

  43. ---Most liberal President ???... not at all... Lincoln wanted change and freed slaves, women got to vote later under Wilson. ---Besides those labels seem stupid. Conservative to me means not going into debt and not spending more than you take in... but from 2001-2009 the debt increased more than ever before in American history. Meanwhile from 1993 to 2001 the debt increase by less than 2% per year.... How were they Liberals compared to the other figure.... in fact the only balanced budgets (several) since 1980 occured in that administraton. ---How is it conservative for the government to decide what is the best for a pregnant woman to do. I hate it but early on let the woman chose but later ..NO .. should have made the decision earlier... Am I liberal or conservative? Seems that a liberal would want government to make the decision (isn't that the Liberal definition) and Conservative to let the woman chose and not let government meddle in her personal decisions. I support man/woman marriages only.. Guess I am conservative again. Radical conservatives think Obama is Kenyan, I don't (Liberal?). Conservatives in 1920 did not want women to vote... too dumb... damn liberals thought they should be allowed to... I am Liberal again. Liberals wanted to change things and stop slavery.... Conservatives liked things just as they were... slavery allowed... ---Given all this which are you.?? Stalin was an extreme liberal and socialist... Hitler far from it, he was the extreme right or conservative ...only his kind were in the right and he was very pro-industrialist and even gave them Jewish slaves to work in their factories. He was against religions other than Christian, especially the Jewish one. A lot of Nazis escaped to the very Catholic countries of Argentina and Brazil... some in the church assisted many of them by portraying them as their "agents".. ---Extremes in both directions are bad.... and facts don't fit so-called definition many times.... The 2001-2009 liberal spending government doubled the debt [or equalled all 42 previous administrations combined ] I am confused how that was conservative as some love to claim. --Today conservative people oppose Romney... he is the wrong religion.. until 1960 no Catholic could get elected, wrong religion. Only five Presidents have names that aren't English or Irish... 3 Dutch names originating from old New Amsterdam or NY ( T.Roosevelt, FD Roosevelt, Van-Buren} one German (Eisenhower,a war hero) plus Obama.. Not a lot of diversity there. No French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Greek, Oriental, or Nordic names and there are a lot of them here. ..
