  1. At least she isn't chasing the refs to their dressing room.

  2. I agree. No coach in his right mind would jeopardize his salary or his reputation to put in a player out of friendship. I find the idea laughable. Would you jeopardize your job by hiring a worker to a key position who wasn't qualified (even the son of a good friend) when you know that your boss and backers are monitoring your own position very closely? Give Coach Mac some credit for both intelligence and integrity.

  4. Admitting naïveté here, but I always find it a challenge to think that any coach would put his chance at the "next big job" at risk to intentionally play the kid with less ability just because said coach played football with said kid's father. There is a lot of money to be made in coaching these days. I don't fault anyone's sense of loyalty for putting his own family's financial future ahead of a friendship with an old football buddy. It may be an easy out to say Coach played McNulty because Coach knows his dad real well. I don't know what it is, but I suspect there is some other reason. Coach can coach....I will leave it at that. 7. I hope Chase Walling stays with North Texas. If Walling decommits, that is his business. I am sure the staff has other OL prospects available, that NT fans do not know. Prospects do change their minds on their college choice. I am impressed with the way the staff can have prospects de-commit from other programs, then commit to North Texas. Under Coach McCarney's watch, these players changed their commitment. 1. TE Andrew Power, was commited to Tennessee 2. Safety Kerry Swarn, was commited to Arizona 3. CB Freddie Warner, was commited to Texas Tech 4. WR Chaz Sampson, was commited to Tulsa 5. CB Dequarius Johnson, was commited to Akron There are North Texas prospects that have commited to other programs. Maybe the coaching staff can gain a few de-commitments before recruiting ends in Feburary.

  8. Most of these guys are shooting the same percentage now as they did when they were recruited: Jordan Williams was brutal from outside at Kimball. Brandon Walton made some shots but not consistent enough to warrant a D1 scholarship. Roger Franklin has always been a hustle guy and leader on the court. An under sized power forward. Can make the outside shot but of great. Alzee was the point guard at Carter & Lincoln that rarely shot the ball from outside. Should. not be asked to play opposite your point guard. Chris Jones is a good outside shooter for a point guard. His role and expectation should not be to shot the ball from outside as he has . The guy is forced to try to do more. Tony Mitchell can make the outside shot but his game and range should be limited to the free throw line and in. We need him down low without any other consistent down low scoring options. You guys will think I'm crazy but the best outside threat and matchup problem for the opponent is Forrest Robinson. A tall guy more comfortable outside. Clark Overlander (2012-2013) - Knows his role very well and will be the best outsde shooter on the team. Does not have the foot speed or quickness to create his own shot. His role will be to find a spot on the court and stay there; in hopes that his man will leave him to help out and bury the 3 when guys kick it out In the mean time, I'd like to see more of Trey Norris playing with Chris. We can't shoot so move to an even more up tempo game where Jordan Williams plays to his strength and our designated shooters (Walton & Alzee) play enen less in certain situations. This teams should be averaging at least 80 pts a game! Typed on cell phone**

  9. Cannot say that I disagree with you. McNulty's role this season made no logical sense at all IMO. Don't understand why some get up in arms when someone questions our coach's decisions. I love the guy but he is not God, and neither was our last coach. Speaking of God, God forbid anything happen to Derek Thompson, because I see deep trouble if something does.

  13. I hope that situation never occurs, because it seems much of what makes Aston get the most out of her players is her fire. Anytime you have a high strung screamer on the sideline, I think that is a possibility though. Did Bobby Knight's temper ever cost his teams games? Sure. That doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best ever though.

  15. You are the best listener ever to pull that nugget out of all the Wisconsin, Iowa St., S. Florida, Florida talk, not to mention to be able to stay awake through the lengthy coach speak segments. I admire your stick-to-it-ness. Not a shot. I'm completely serious.

  16. An immediate 198.7% increase in winning percentage, and still the hundred dollar bill is wrinkled. College football -- what the NFL would be if the fans owned and managed the teams. Know what I see? After a single season, Dan McCarney could lose his next 24 games, and he'd be equal to his predecessor. That's what I see. Know what else? After the 3 opening games, the team played .500 ball for the rest of the season. Know what else I see? Hope. First the first time since I've known of this program. Genuine, legitimate, bona fide hope. For all I care, McCarney could put his half-wit transgendered step-niece under center (assuming adequate academic performance, of course). As long as the wins keep increasing, I'm all good.

  17. A legit 6'4" 3 star JUCO? You'll get no argument from me.

  18. Point well taken. My argument is when you have equal ability, you will almost always choose the player with the greater size. That was my point. McNulty hasn't shown anything positive when it mattered which is why I question his position on the depth chart and if it relates to his father's relationship with the head coach. I can't help but feel that if Dan McCarney is not a head coach that Andrew McNulty is a walk-on somewhere.

  19. It doesn't much matter what they did before they came to North Texas. They're all here now and they should be judged on what they do here. I'm willing to let the coaches do their job - part of which is to decide who gets playing time. In the meantime, I wish all our players success. GBT

  20. My thinking is the Mid-Majors should win those scheduled games to keep them from being bowl eligible. Much more exciting if you ask me.

  21. Screw Jeff Patton! The guy helped screw Grambling and bailed! We need that scholarship next year for another true center or a 2 guard that can actually shoot. His game does not help us as much. JJ will look like a damn fool when he is not eligible next year. He is not a Tony Mitchell to take a chance on. Surely we can find a student athlete. Go Mean Green!

  22. Sarah Stanley with another game scoring in double figures and stepping up against a bigger team when we needed her most. And how about our fire breathing dragon on the sidelines getting teed up and lighting a fire under this team to get them down the stretch and to the finish line in this game? Loved it! 23. Bingo! If he comes to NT that is awesome and welcome to the family. If not, no reason discussing “what-ifs” or what “could be”. We all (NT alums) can see the merits of a UNT over SMU, but those arguments will take time to permeate their way into Texas high school football. McCarney knows this having gone through the same thing at Iowa St. and recruiting against in state Iowa as well as the Big 10 in the Midwest and the rest of the Big 8 previously. The foundation is being laid, but it will take time for him to solidify UNT as top 2, 3 or 4 destination for Texas high school recruits.

  25. I guess I just don't understand why it should bother me. Conferences work out the bowl tie-ins they believe are to their best advantage. If the Big 12 managed to keep all 9 bowl tie-ins with major conferences, good for them.

  26. And why we are not playing Niko more continues to boggle my mind... He is one of the very very very few players on our team that actually takes the ball to the hole and he is our best 3 point shooter on top of that. He is 6'9' hustles on both ends of the floor and is always moving off the ball to free himself up for a shot! I take him over Holmon, Hogans, Franlin and Edwards any day. But that is just me...

  29. I dOnt know why people are surprised by Walton's shooting percentage. He wasn't good from 3 point range in JC, either. Volume shooter whose percentage gets worse the more volume he gets. The mystery signing of tis class.

  30. I think we would because the refs gave us the make up call at the other end that helped us extend the lead shortly afterwards. Aston brings a fire and spirit to our basketball court during games that her team seems to respond really well to. I hope she keeps it up. Rick

  37. I was at the FAU game, and to claim there wasn't 1,000 people at that game is ridiculous. I didn't make the MTSU game, but it is obvious we fudged those numbers. This is the first year I would say that has happened considering they were pretty accurate with the count at Fouts. You can say we didn't have the numbers reported, but stating that there was only 1,000 in attendance is ridiculous.

  40. The enigma that is Jordan at this early stage of his career is he's not a good shooter, and he's not a good enough ball handler to get by perimeter defenders on his own. He's had his pocket picked ?uite a bit trying to take someone on one on one this year. However, he is starting to make adjustments to this and making better decisions. And when he's on the floor we become a much better running and rebounding team. We need him to be a slasher/rebounder at this point a not a jump shooter. If he does that, and Alzee and CJ can step up their outside shooting a bit we are dangerous. When those don't happen, and that's been a lot pretty much every game for a stretch, we become stagnant on offense, teams go into a zone on us, and we go long stretches without scoring points. And I don't mean to imply that the zone keeps us from scoring, just we don't score and then teams also try the zone because they figure we can't score from the outside.

  43. Some things I'd like to see. Jordan Williams not shoot another three unless were up double digits.Jacob Holmen not shoot another three unless we're playing an exhibition gameMore of the Trey Norris at point and Chris at the 2.More of Niko in situations where the other team doesn't have a low post threat, like UNO.Alzee shoot more, from three especially.Brandon Walton get more towel waving time, and less playing time (sorry man)

  45. Even if San Jose is the 18th team in the merger (which I doubt) this is still good news. It means the WAC is dead and the Sun Belt can LA Tech and UTSA to get to 12.

  46. ECU submitted paperwork to join Big East as soon as ink was dry on Pitt and Syracuse being accepted by ACC, so i don't think this means much at this time. i'm sure Utah State also has done the same with MWC. the proposed CUSA/MWC merger now depends on whether or not MWC gets AQ status. i assume they will know before merger meeting scheduled for 1/15/12.if MWC get BCS status, merger is off, and they will have 8 football schools. i don't know what their goal is;9,10,or 12, so UTEP could still be in the mix. i hope AQ for MWC aproved and UTEP moves west.
