Glad we a dipping back into West Texas. We may not find many skill players out there, but you can count on hard working, hard hitting players.2 points

I felt great about the Cajuns , but anytime someone starts a thread like this it ends bad. Way to go Harry !!2 points

I think it's clear by now that Coach Aston doesn't believe there is any such thing as a bodybag game.2 points

One quality that I noticed was sportsmanship. Years ago it was quality word but it has apparently lost it's value today. Perhaps Dr. Rawlins, being from that generation, was trying to express a little courtesy and compliment TCU and SMU on their achievements. At the same time I read that "you may have beat us there but we're turning the corner and will catch up." We are terrible sports. We criticize virtually everything that either accomplishes which makes them even snobbier and us look sour and jealous. The paragraph about basketball was completely ignored by our readers. In it, he expressly mentioned North Texas as the basketball leader in the Metroplex without any kudos to another Division I team. Lighten up. Our president's letter was not written to demean us or say that we will always be in third place. Tearing down SMU and TCU will never elevate us. We elevate ourselves by beating them (whenever we have the opportunity) or their constituents (when they won't play us). However, for now we should not worry about them or what they have accomplished; only what we will accomplish.2 points

There will be a Tony Mitchell Day tailgate next Sunday. Start time is 3pm and everyone is welcome. The tailgate last night was a success and, judging from the looks we got from passers by, it drew the requisite attention. So, come one come all, to the first annual Tony Mitchell Day celebration!! (I said first annual on purpose)1 point

I called first to drive Deion Sr's Mercedes Benz golf cart around "The Hill" next year.1 point

We actually tried something like this back in the 90s. We had one of Michael Irvin's younger brothers on the team, Nathaniel is the name I think. Actually got Michael to stand on the sideline for a televised game. I don't think Nathaniel ever saw playing time though. If I'm wrong, someone correct me.1 point

If he came to NT we'd get a lot of pub and shout outs from Deion. Let's try to sign this kid.1 point

I'm thimking we see TM enter the game with about 15 minutes left in the 1st half. Surely he won't start with only 1 practice under his belt, right?1 point

I may be on my way home from work for the beginning of the game, but rest assured I will be tuned in and on chat before halftime.1 point

Can you imagine what a circus game day would be in Denton every time Daddy Deion shows up for a game? Especially if Daddy Deion thinks his boy is not getting a fair shake.1 point

Only if Daddy Deion promises to drive off the 'Hill'next to Apogee, like he allegedly did in Cincinnati.1 point

Congrats to the Cajuns. Several of us went to our game in Lafayette. Treated with great respect and sportsmanship. BTW it was biggest crowd ever. Great to see them having a blast in New Orleans. Announcer said no one left at home in Lafayette as they were all in the Dome. Wouldn't you like to hear them say that just 10% of Denton attended any of our games home or away. Of course students couldn't be bothered as they might catch a cold if they left the dorm.1 point

Great article - thanks It wasn't a lifelong dream. He committed to kansas st early and I believe that is the connection to the prep school in Florida. He opened his recruitment again and in the fall of 2009 they decided on Missouri due to the coaching staff there (Anderson/Watkins). It was his desire to play there following HS, but after a semester of waiting on the NCAA they finally ruled him ineligible December 2010. He then enrolled at unt. There was no long time Missouri tie, it was the coaching staff that drew his commitment. I cannot wait to watch tony back in action. Big day!1 point

Was the soccer team coming off a 5-26 year from the season before, and playing without two of its studs? Rick1 point

Sure would be nice if we had a recurring basketball themed podcast, focused on NT and the Sun Belt.1 point

Good luck! What you get is a letter by our President praising tcu and smu on their advancement into major conferences.1 point

The idea that a recruit or transfer bases where they continue their football career on a college's non-affiliated, third-party message board should also be taken out back and shot.1 point

Will you or someone else have some space on the grill for bacon wrapped duck? I can't really bring my grill so I will need to piggy back with someone else for a price of course, the duck is free for all.1 point

Dogs and Brats looked great...never mind Thor giving you a hard time about that soccer game! That was a pretty big beer he was sipping on..... Good crowd I thought for the first tailgate attempt I thought as well.....well done, Sir. Of course, the highlight was your little girl....1 point

I'm about 90% sure we'll replace FIU with South Al at home next year. ULL and MTSU are saying they don't play each other next year, as are Troy and ULM. ASU says they aren't playing FAU. If these are true, then by default we don't play FIU. (South Al doesn't play WKU). Come on, Vito, you should be all over this already.1 point

Echo everything, we HAVE to get rid of that LSU game. It will add nothing for the season. Replace it with a winnable game. I know a lot of people are on two different sides on the fence in regards to this but I would like to see us play Texas State or UTSA at home (replacing Texas Southern). For a few reasons. Mainly I have a lot of friends and family who go to both schools but also that way we can put to rest doubt from anyone who thinks these programs will pass us (I would like to see us beat these schools like we did MTSU Saturday). Dream world scenario would be to play a school like Baylor or Tech at home.1 point

3-4 in the Belt gets you zero bowl invites. Look at WKU this year. A 7-1 conference record and 2nd place conference finish gets them a seat on the couch. A lot of that has to do with a bad loss to an FCS team. A lot of that has to do with the perception that the Belt is the worst conference in FBS. Finishing 6-6 with wins over 2 FCS teams (USA is FBS in name only, and bowl reps will not value that win) gets you no respect from any bowl. Play and beat SOMEBODY. That gets you respect and gets your fans base energized. Playing and hopefully beating Texas Southern doesn't even make any local news cast, because NO ONE CARES. I really, really, really, really, really hope we replace TSU with a winnable, respecrable home game (Think Kansas, UCF, UTEP, Texas Tech, ect...). I know it's a pipe dream, especially with most teams having their dance cards full, but a man can dream.1 point

South Alabama should count as an FBS team when we play them. If we win that will count towards our bowl eligibility1 point
-
It will be interesting to see what happens with LSU and Houston with the new conference realignments. I would honestly be for dropping the LSU for a home game, as well as dropping Texas Southern for a FBS opponent. It doesn't help us by beating TSU and can only hurt us if we lost. Just look at WKU, they missed out on a bowl game because of losing at home to Indiana State.1 point
-
I heard theyre trying to get out of the LSU game just because we did 1 and 1 with houston and 2-1 with Kstate... I really dont think we'll know until the beginning of the summer1 point

Got a chance to see Foster this weekend @ the fantasy of lights. Very smart player. Knows when to pass & knows when to shoot. Several times on fastbreaks he passed it off to the open man instead of forcing the shot. Very fundamental. Has a very nice stroke from the outside. Will defentitely play the 2 at the next level. Not bad handles, but not great. Hope to see him again on Jan 6th vs Argyle1 point
