I know...it's just that when he speaks it's usually in that weird hip-hop "language" he and the "usual suspects" use and think they're so cool for it...I mean, half of what Quoner says makes absolutely no sense to me and I'm in my late 20s and listen to Black Star and Bell Biv DeVoe so I should be nearly fluent in Street. I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone of a previous generation. Must sound like total gibberish, really.4 points

So are we legitimately worried that the death of a homeless man on campus is going to potentially drive away potential recruits/students? Is that what's happening here? Do you think kids that want to go to UT think twice because of the tower shooting or about other tragedies that have happened at various universities around the country? This is a topic because for some of you, you think it validates your view of the OWS crowd.3 points

These guys have short memories. North Texas and Tulsa were conference mates in the MVC for many years.3 points

If we are frozen out of CUSA or the Mountain West, we can thank the stretch from 2005-2010 that left as as the laughing stock of college football. 2 more wins this year (ya, I know that would have been asking a lot) and maybe perception of this prgram gets turned around enough (only if we had gotten a bowl bid) to land a spot in CUSA or the Mountain West. I don't think the merger happens. Just too cumbersome with no promise of a BCS bid. I football hate Todd Dodge so, so, so, so much right now.3 points

People keep blabbering about police brutality and it is ridiculous. If the police told them to move (which they did) and the people didn't move, they deserved the pepper spray 100%. If they had listened to the cops, they would not have been pepper sprayed. Simple as that. If a police officer tells you to do something, just do it.2 points

I think we're debating whether or not a 14-year old cheerleader with flip-out texting keypad should be allowed to post on this board. I vote no.2 points

The only pulse we showed was the season opening win against Ball St in 2009. The Ohio game had really good attendance for a monsoon game. The next 2 home games were MTSU and FAU. Over 22k showed up for MTSU only to leave at the half with UNT down 30-7. Over 23k showed up for FAU, only to wach a 13 point 1st qtr lead evaporate as FAU scored 30 second qtr points. Give this fan base something, anything to be excited about and your average attendance will jump to the low 20k area. Pull off a win against a team that matters (Kansas St. Or LSU next year) and watch the spike in attendance you have for the following home game. For a fan base that has had one moment (Ball St) of excitement since 2004, attendance is doing pretty well.2 points

What did Banowsky say? I've read it a dozen times and I can't determine his intent other than talks will continue with no timetable. I know "coachspeak". I think that I've just been introduced to "commissionerspeak". BTW, if there is a merger is there any indication of who survives as commissioner?2 points

And remember it's not just about athletics. Academic reputation is an important consideration in conference affiliation. cUSA has Rice & Tulsa - two schools with heavy-weight reputations and several other schools that are well-respected. The Sun Belt? Troy, MT, Monroe, & several other schools that are community college level. Which schools do you want to see UNT allied with?2 points

One person's opinion isn't an issue... Don't worry folks. We're in as good a position we can be to strike at the right opportunity... Good things ahead.2 points

We are doing something and have been for more than a decade. We've moved back up to 1A ... we've increased our athletic budget and coaches salaries ... we've greatly improved our athletic facilities. If you're talking specifically about moving up to CUSA we not only have "sources" claiming we are working on it but we also have official word from the athletic department that our administration is working behind the scenes to make our case. To say we are not being proactive is incorrect. To think that our administration would put all this effort into improving our athletic department and then sit on our hands at this time is illogical.2 points

Wow , just wow. These aren't AQ teams that are having bad years either. Bama is 7 - 3 w/ wins over Kansas ( 7 - 1 ) & Seton Hall ( 5 - 4) Oregon State is 6 - 1 & outside of their game w/ UNT, has won by a margin of 30.6 points !!!2 points

We are in a delicious position. Even if there is a merger there is a prime university in a rich as heck region ready to jump at an invitation. That monster win over MTSU was a great last impression to leave for 2011. Georgio said it perfectly earlier today - why don't select programs recreate the SWC now. There is very little lose and developing regional rivalries is going in the opposite direction of what is happening now. Do different, be different. Soon SMU is going to get tired of playing Rutgers, San Diego State is going to get tired of playing everyone. Boise will always be Boise. I think you are going to see these mass flung conferences regionalize in the future, so lets beat them to the punch. UNLV UNM NMSU Tulsa North Texas La Tech Rice UTEP Southern Miss Memphis Invite Houston and SMU back to the fold when AQ goes away and the Big East dissolves. GMG2 points

when V Lane first said denton-town ...my honest first opinion was does our school president not even know what the town is called? can we edit this out? and then as i watched the video i realized it was in the song. Great video! and i know like half the people in it so that makes it cooler.2 points

Wait...I'm sorry...are you saying Reagan did this? How creepy would it be if we voted for the same person? I also think a Paul vs. Obama campaign would create a supernova of confusion at FoxNews headquarters so great that the organization would violently implode...hopefully creating a powerful, vacuumous black-hole large enough for all the 24 hour news networks...INCLUDING Chris Matthews' head.1 point

no one in th MWC wants Idaho,NMSU,LA. Tech,UTSA, or TX.ST. they might consider SJSU and Utah ST., but this merger is certainly not about saving WAC football programs.1 point

There are 33 pages of news hits (and counting.) It's a very somber day, but I feel like saying it's not being honored because of your conjecture and a random report from a school seems a little...off? It is a very special and somber day, no matter who decides to grandstand about it on the internet. Oh, and I know of several teachers who are using this as an opportunity to actually educate their own students about it. As long as no one decides to show the Michael Bay movie, we all win.1 point

I'm about 90% sure we'll replace FIU with South Al at home next year. ULL and MTSU are saying they don't play each other next year, as are Troy and ULM. ASU says they aren't playing FAU. If these are true, then by default we don't play FIU. (South Al doesn't play WKU). Come on, Vito, you should be all over this already.1 point

3-4 in the Belt gets you zero bowl invites. Look at WKU this year. A 7-1 conference record and 2nd place conference finish gets them a seat on the couch. A lot of that has to do with a bad loss to an FCS team. A lot of that has to do with the perception that the Belt is the worst conference in FBS. Finishing 6-6 with wins over 2 FCS teams (USA is FBS in name only, and bowl reps will not value that win) gets you no respect from any bowl. Play and beat SOMEBODY. That gets you respect and gets your fans base energized. Playing and hopefully beating Texas Southern doesn't even make any local news cast, because NO ONE CARES. I really, really, really, really, really hope we replace TSU with a winnable, respecrable home game (Think Kansas, UCF, UTEP, Texas Tech, ect...). I know it's a pipe dream, especially with most teams having their dance cards full, but a man can dream.1 point

It will be interesting to see what happens with LSU and Houston with the new conference realignments. I would honestly be for dropping the LSU for a home game, as well as dropping Texas Southern for a FBS opponent. It doesn't help us by beating TSU and can only hurt us if we lost. Just look at WKU, they missed out on a bowl game because of losing at home to Indiana State.1 point
