  1. Chapel Hill 56 Navasota 46 Stats: CH 30 first downs; Navasota 11 CH Rushing 66/424; Navasota 14/-12 CH Passing 169; Navasota 274 UNT commits: Andrew Tucker 10/65, 1 TD injured in 2nd quarter appeared to be sprained ankle, but was jogging on the sidelines the entire 2nd half. Rex Rollins 16/99, 1 TD Sir Calvin Wallace Look at the rushing stats above for Navasota Sir Calvin played a great game created several hurries; had 2 3 sacks that I remember; really showed up when CH needed stops late in the game; and is finally showing up as a real emotional leader of the defense. CH had a great night carrying the ball; 7 different ball carriers. The score was as close as it was because CH offense gave up 3 touchdowns 2 interception returns and one fumble return. All eight CH TDs came via the offense. Coming up - Rematch of last years semifinal game: CH (13 0) vs. West Columbia (13 0) at Stephen F. Austin Stadium, Nacogdoches; 7:30 Friday.

  2. I don't know what time of year ADs plan future schedules, but I'd like to hear that UNT is approaching CUSA and MWC schools for games. If we want in these conferences, we should be building relationships with these teams and showing them Apogee.

  3. 12:00pm CT McKale Center Tuscon, AZ Arizona is 4-0 on the year with wins over Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Wichita State, and NMSU by an average of 26.5 points. None of those teams are ranked or receiving votes in the Women's Mid-Major top 25. NMSU (2-2) is not a part of that ranking though. The crowd should not be a factor, as it is a weekday noon game, and Arizona only had 1500 fans for their home opener. There is no preview on the Arizona website, but I suppose the game could be an "ISD" day and there may be several thousand screaming children. This should be a good test for our team.

  4. Game tips off at 7:00 in San Marcos. Texas State is 3-1 as well, with two of the wins coming against non-D1 competition. Against D1 competition, they have a 5 point win away to UTPA, and an 8 point loss at home to Air Force. I'll for sure be listening on the radio. Go Mean Green!

  5. I really like the possibilities for the offense for 2012. Derek Thompson and the qb's will be a year older and more mature. The receivers have come on strong the latter part of this year. I do think they will be able to plug in a running back amongst those who have been red shirted, or be brought in via new recruits. I do think if they can address the speed issue on the outside, it could be special. I especially like the opportunities for the OL. We have great holdovers, plus the Feldt brothers coming in. Does anyone else see the upside I do? GMG

  6. Both schools' student enrollment combined probably equals about half of UNT's. Lets keep things into perspective here.

  7. Watching Iowa State hang with OU...Cyclones starting QB and HB from DFW: http://rivals.yahoo.com/iowastate/football/recruiting/player-Duran-Hollis-78111 http://rivals.yahoo.com/iowastate/football/recruiting/player-Jared-Barnett-85347 Three star players...one from Garland, one from Fort Worth. Another three star contributing for ISU, from Dallas: http://rivals.yahoo.com/iowastate/football/recruiting/player-James-White-73077 Got to start outrecruiting the Iowa States and Tulsas who come in the area. I think we are already making those inroads again. I just see games like this and think about it. So much talent here...but, you have to recognize which ones are real and which are just hype.

  8. Someone needs to tell Schlabach that LaLa has already accepted the bowl bid. If Edwards is right, it will be a huge opportunity game for the Belt, not to mention a rematch of a game pleyed earlier this year. Not gonna happen. I think LALA vs USF is much more likely. On a side note, how brilliant does Willie Taggert's preseason pick for Conference Champion look now? Ya, they didn't win it, but came oh so close after EVERYONE laughed him out of the room (that means you, Brett Vito) when he picked his own team to win the Belt. Great turnaround year for WKU. Should give us all hope for next year.

  10. Guys, next year Texas State and South Alabama are FBS teams and UTSA is an FCS when counting wins for the bowls. In 2013, UTSA will be an FBS counter.

  12. North Texas - 61 Texas State - 43 Final. We need the picture of the tower from CMJ! 4-1 Start for the Mean Green. They won 5 games total last year. 22 points from Torru. Godbolt with the double double.

  14. If they're addressing the lines, I am not concerned about RB. Heck, if the Oline is great line me up at RB. I'm sure I can run through those holes. Not so certain about making that first guy miss, though. But I can toss him a beverage.

  18. Players of note in the Austin v Texas Legends game: Austin Toros: Solomon Bozeman - UALR Tristan Thopson - North Texas Texas Legends: Dominique Johnson - Azusa Pacific (unfortunately) Anthony Vareen (UT-Arlington) Derek Williams (Southern Methodist) I didn't see Colin Mangrum on the Roster of Texas Legends. However, I did not check the Dance Team.

  20. The offense will improve. Don't know how consistent they'll be, but they'll be able to put up points, unlike the beginning of this season. However, I'm worried about our awful defensive line. Anyone foresee any positives in that area?

  21. disagree....as volatile as a freshman laden lineup is, the boys have the talent to win...

  23. For the record, JJ has won two conference TOURNAMENT titles not two conference titles. In fact we have only had one season where we were in contention for the conference title and in all actuality won the the title except for stupid tie-breaking rules. Look at his overall conference record, i would bet it's not a whole lot over .500 For taking a long view, you sure put a lot of emphasis on a short term record (conference tournament record). I can appreciate what JJ has accomplished here and i want him to stay but he's had way to many piss poor losses while he has been here and i don't blame fans for getting frustrated. If you can't bet frustrated and upset on a message board after getting clobbered by UTA by 30+ points, when can you get frustrated?

  25. Even if they were tighting most of their top offensive players, I'd still rather drop the LSU game before this one.

  27. I want whomever can know the defensive coverage well enough to not give up 10-15 TD's next year on blown coverages alone. It is hard to know who's fault it is without knowing the defensive coverage, but it has gotten old. Maybe it is the new defense, but there seems to be alot of confusion on the back end and that is with 4 senior starters.

  28. I agree. Possibly the stupidest thread I've ever seen on this board.

  30. Don't need to start a new league. SBC is adding So. Alabama to schedule in 2012 and to the conference in 2013, Invite two more teams to join SBC, create two divisions and a Conference playoff. West Division East Division UNT FAU La Tech FIU Arkie St Troy LaLa WKU La Monroe MTSU NMST or UTSA So, Ala

  31. I'd be willing to bet that on 24 November 2013 the Mean Green will be in either cUSA or the MWC. We'll all be posting about needing to be in the Big East & how SMU is keeping us out by nefarious means. We'll be bitching about only being 8 and 3. Someone will suggest that our coach, our offensive coordinator, our AD, or our President has to go. God bless Texas!

  32. OK children, recess is over. I just love it when a few on this board get offended with a dose of how the way things really are or have been and in the opinion of someone who has followed this 3 ring circus of clown hirings for close to 40 years now. We are where we are (and apparently will stay) because of who we have hired during most of those 40 years and most of those years those hirings seemedly having no one to answer to but themselves. Pretty damn cushy w/o the need of too many wins. I am pissed about what is not shaping up for North Texas while 1 other non deserving school gets royal treatment and a pass at every f - - -' n turn. I hope they get found out for the fakes that they are with photos in every eastern newspaper with this caption: "How a winning program in dallas still can't draw flies even if they were a horse shit factory."

  35. Jordan came to North Texas, because of the coaches, a great program, close to home, and his first visit to North Texas was at the Texas Tech game. And What did he enjoy most about... Having a college type of atmosphere, that he never got in HS. Im not saying its a bad thing, but people are over exaggerating this. Its great they get to play here and see the stadium but all theyll do is go to the locker rooms, play the game and leave. Theres not much touring for a playoff game, and getting to talk to the coaches..Its a playoff game, not a camp

  36. Cool Mangrum can still attend plenty of SMU games now.

  40. Having a HS playoff game at a college stadium isnt going to bring players here. How are you going to get a college experience with a HS crowd of 5k... Its not Cowboy Stadium, where people will come to see a game but mainly see the stadium. Players are gonna come to North Texas because they can win games, go to bowl games, and have a better opportunity, not bc of a stadium. The stadium is the bells and whistles, players dont wanna play in a dump (fouts) but they want to play in a college atmosphere (AQ type. You can have the nicest stadium in all of the NCAA but if you dont have the game day experience, it means nothing

  44. Sorry but that's completely different. All of those teams play in the same conference. CUSA is much better than the Sun Belt and everyone here knows it, thus why we all want to join the conference.

  45. I'm also thankful that we continue to have our band enter the field with it's usual saunter (AKA the 100 yard mosey), and that we don't have this kind of pageantry inflicted on us during pre-game.....

  46. If Swarn was as good as advertised, he wouldn't have redshirted this year. It's not like we couldn't use the help. He needs to put on a lot of weight in the offseason.

  47. Rice is about the worst example you can use in college football. They didn't even bring 100 to fouts I'm sure if we played MTSU today there would be less than 5K at Apogee
