  1. LOSE-to not win. "I don't want to LOSE anymore games this season." LOOSE-not secure "Make sure the nuts and bolts are not LOOSE."

  2. After our worst defeat in several years, we travel to "The Hump" -- home of the #24 ranked Bulldogs. Not sure what to say about this one other than keep your expectations low.

  3. And that's the same reason we probably won't move up in conference. Tulsa,UTEP,Rice want nothing to do with us just like we want nothing to do w/ UTSA or TX State. If we are going to be stuck in a horrible conference , I'd rather it be with teams that I can make road trips to. UTSA,La Tech & TX State vs the smelly town of Monroe. It's all about me :thumbsu:

  4. For all the complaints about attendance and tailgating is our problem the location of the stadium? Is the off campus nature of the stadium that's keeping the students away? I hate the remote layout of the parking lots and sprawled tailgating.

  6. The only reason Trice is even going to make it on the field next year is bc Mac and Trice's dad are old fishing buddies.

  7. Let's talk about those groups. fat & lazy - Wonder why tailgating sucks this season, because we're spread out across four different area and you can't pull up and party out of your car. Parking in a remote location by yourself is lame. If you say you like tailgating alone at Fouts compared to last season, your lying to yourself. Cheap - Is this team worth paying $20 for parking and then having to hike to the stadium Aged - Another group that would probably like to be able park closer to the stadium. They might even pay to do, but what choice do they have if they didn't get parking pass at the start of the season. Child dragging - I bring my kid to the games and there are a lot less stroller this year than last year. It's not a lot of fun to haul junior from Fouts along a narrow winding sidewalk by the Myerson, across the bridge, and then through the windy hills to get to the stadium. So instead of just labeling folks "bad" fans, maybe we can address these issues. Winning makes the difference between "casual" fans attending the game, but these structural obstacles are keeping us from developing "core" fans.

  8. I really like the possibilities for the offense for 2012. Derek Thompson and the qb's will be a year older and more mature. The receivers have come on strong the latter part of this year. I do think they will be able to plug in a running back amongst those who have been red shirted, or be brought in via new recruits. I do think if they can address the speed issue on the outside, it could be special. I especially like the opportunities for the OL. We have great holdovers, plus the Feldt brothers coming in. Does anyone else see the upside I do? GMG

  9. Nope. It's not on HD channel, at least on Dish Network. I've watched other events on non-HD, and this is just terrible quality, even for non HD.

  10. All I'm saying, is I wish we had more home games against teams our students REALLY care about beating. It's probably a forgone conclusion that students are uneducated, silly and don't care about what it looks like to other conferences, future recruits and alumni.

  11. Didn't North Texas beat Big Ten's own Indiana?
    1 point
  12. Yes, so that way rushing the court means absolutely nothing. We should just do it for every home game, win or lose, because it's so much fun. Bottom line is it makes you look like you are shocked that your team could beat one of the worst teams in the Big 12. It makes you look basketball uneducated, silly, and small time to other conferences, future recruits, and Alumni (at least this one). But by all means, have at it.

  13. Out of road games at LSU, KSU, and UH, we get rid of the Houston game? Really? If this is due to UH's move to the Big East, then that is acceptable, but if it is on our end, that is really stupid. We clamor for in-state games, then give one up. I hope that isnt the case.

  14. Here's an excellent point that I totally agree with. 5. A student fee -- A couple of student senators got a grass roots campaign going and convinced UNT's students to vote in favor of a student fee that is going to cost each of them 300 bucks a year. UNT has its stadium because of that vote. And those students got that fee through while UNT was in the midst of arguably its worst stretch of football ever under inarguably the worst coach in UNT football history, UNT history and maybe college football history. It doesn't get said enough. Thank you Flyer!!....and colleague.

  15. Not only that but they did it exactly 24 hours after beating us. It could have been closer had they had an extra day of rest.

  16. Im sorry but were not Kentucky, Unc, or Duke... Even though we have a great recruiting class, it doesnt mean that well win every game.... I know we should of been competitive but were starting 3 freshman. These guys arent top 50 recruits, quit acting like they are because thats only gonna bring disappointment... Now once Tony comes in its a different story, but still dont act like we'll be a top 25 team with them, it takes time Theres no excuse for that many turnovers, but what do you expect with a young team... JJ will get them in shape for conference, just calm down

  19. Don't need to talk to TCU to find out how "well" TSU-SM fans travel. I've gone to that game. It isn't as impressive as you might think. The reason you think it is, is because you admit that you follow TSU-SM closer. We've discussed ad nauseum how "well" UT-SA is drawing. And I think there's some question about the counting methods. I do agree that UNT would fare better, attendance-wise, in the WAC. I like the timezone our games are in currently.

  20. Alum of both schools here and I do have to say that Texas State travels very well. Especially for FCS, Talk to UH or TCU or even Southern Utah about TXST's fans traveling. I really hope that UNT gets it together. I want to be interested in both schools again. I have to admit that I do follow TXST more closely but there is reason to believe that they will be outdrawing UNT regularly (they travel better already). They already have an instate rival in UTSA (who was in their first year yes, but drew amazing crowds this year). UNT would fare much better in the WAC. In the WAC, UNT would have TXST and UTSA along with whatever out of conference games scheduled and Latech. I just don't see a downside for leaving the SBC behind.

  21. Hey guys, I appreciate rmunter's (sp) earnestness. Someone needs to believe they can Pied Piper people into the stayjum. That said, my wife looks really cute in her apron and is cooking up a delicious meal. I'm gonna need you guys to stop bickering and be thankful we have coach who seems like he knows what he is doing, (tho he can only see maybe half the team at a time). Think of what we'll lose if we get any more popular: -Tix will be more expenseive -Traffic will be terrible to and fro -Loss of hipsterific coolness -Nine forums that you'll have to post in to establish your Mean Green Pedigree which could lead to painful Gingivitis Carpal Tunnel. -Helmet stickers (probably)

  23. If we want to start a winning program/tradition around here I think the 1st step is to stop scheduling the alabama & lsu's of the world. I don't think we are hurting for $$ that bad

  27. California, that would be #18 California, just lost 92-53 to Missouri. Should Cal fire their coach? Should they lament how overrated they must have been? Or, and bear with me, should they realize that occassionally the snowball rolls downhill on you and you take a big loss? I concede that we have a LONG way to go to get where we're capable of being...but I think the ride will have far more smooth parts than bumpy ones when all is said and done.

  30. I'd be willing to bet that on 24 November 2013 the Mean Green will be in either cUSA or the MWC. We'll all be posting about needing to be in the Big East & how SMU is keeping us out by nefarious means. We'll be bitching about only being 8 and 3. Someone will suggest that our coach, our offensive coordinator, our AD, or our President has to go. God bless Texas!

  31. I understand that. I'm not saying this team won't be good and improve. I'm just not liking the way they are currently playing. They can lose and be confused about their roles and coaching, but today I did not see motivation and intensity. That's what's not excusable.

  33. The choice of words and the method of conveying his position left much to be desired, but regardless of what everyone on here thinks, Sun Belt fans and otherwise, we're always going to have a tough time going where we want to go just beating up on Sun Belt teams. It did very little for us during our bowl runs. We won 26 straight conference games and no one even flinched. It didn't improve our recruits. It didn't improve national perception. We plateaued. Then we hired Todd Dodge. With respect to attendance, it DOES matter what teams we play. Some of you are missing the point. It isn't about other teams bringing their fans, it's about our fans showing up to see our team take on a team that MATTERS in the landscape of college football. It costs me $150 in gas round trip to go to Denton from Houston. That doesn't include a hotel at $100, tickets to the game at $40 or so for a pair, any concessions, dinner, etc... You're looking at a $400 trip. At present time, I don't have $400 to spend on a 4-6 team playing a terrible team from Kentucky that just got housed by LSU the weekend before. I have virtually no incentive to spending that kind of coin on that game. Now you tell me college gameday is in town, that UNT is undefeated, and we're taking on an in-state rival, I'll find the money. If that makes me a bad fan, a bad fan I am. But there are thousands of other bad fans out there that think just like me.

  40. Sorry is I wasn't clear, but Marcus Trice will be playing safety next year. Yes, he'd be fine at CB, but he's going to be playing safety. And don't be shocked if you see him play a little offense as well. And don't be shocked if the other safety is Will Wright or Mike Stock.

  41. Sorry but that's completely different. All of those teams play in the same conference. CUSA is much better than the Sun Belt and everyone here knows it, thus why we all want to join the conference.

  42. Pretty clear Quoner gets a pass here. The SBC never held NT back. They gave us a conference home and a bowl game to play for when we were in No Man's Land. Our problem has been self imposed for years and only recently have we started to make the necessary changes to make ourselves attractive to other conferences.

  43. I'm pretty sure there was only one service that ranked us in the top 30, and it wasn't Rivals. This was a great class, no doubt. Definitely something to be excited about, but they haven't played but 4 games in DIV1 basketball. They have the talent, what they don't (yet) have is chemistry. Just give it time folks. Good lord, I think what's happening is people are taking their expectations of the team plus Tony Mitchell and applying it to the current team. You basically have 3 players coming back and then there's 6 in the rotation that have never played D1 ball. They need time to gel and figure out each others tendencies, it's really early in the season, the good news is SBC play does nto start for a while, and we have time to get ready for it. Everyone please tap the brakes, when T Mitch comes in the team will have some experience and his play will only boost the team. The west looks like it is weaker and weaker everyday so far this season with ASU basically falling off the map. We have a good shot to get a high seed in the conference tourney. I could care less what seed we would potentially get, because I think by that time the players will progress and know each other tendencies and our talent alone will give us a decent shot come March.

  44. Air Force 2012 Schedule might wide open. Our best chance of selling out at Apogee is scheduling at Military Academy at home and ofering special ticket pricing for Active Service Members and Veterans. The Last time we played Army at Home (2009) 23,647, Navy (2007) 26,012. DFW area has Thousands of Active Military and Veterans, could be a big draw if scheduled Veteran's weekend.
