Wow. That happened sooner than I expected... I applaud you for your bravery, even in the face of the hand crafted comedy you undoubtedly beat to the punch. Hagrid would have cussed at ULM too!!!!3 points

Even if they were tighting most of their top offensive players, I'd still rather drop the LSU game before this one.2 points

Jeez. First we can't cuss out the punter while explaining our defense won't make a single stop, now this. Also, More tribestros. That was the best thing since LoveMG.2 points

Apogee could be across the street from someone's house and they would find something to complain about. This is a great stadium in a great location in the first year of operation. Good management always evaluates their operation looking for improvements. This year was/is about identifying the issues and correcting them as we move forward.2 points

I think it is pretty clear that you dont schedule patsy's like Texas Tech to get you ready for UTA.2 points

Yes, I'd like to thank everyone for pointing out my typo. I am a better person for it.1 point

I would think so. I hope LSU has to do the same w/ a&m aboard. If so a lot of SEC teams will have to drop a game1 point

Air Force 2012 Schedule might wide open. Our best chance of selling out at Apogee is scheduling at Military Academy at home and ofering special ticket pricing for Active Service Members and Veterans. The Last time we played Army at Home (2009) 23,647, Navy (2007) 26,012. DFW area has Thousands of Active Military and Veterans, could be a big draw if scheduled Veteran's weekend.1 point

I'm gonna guess that they'll struggle for a year or two after moving to the WAC next season. I think it'll take him acouple of years before he can compete with some of those schools on a week in, week out basis.1 point

In the last 6 years we are 2-4 against UTA, it's far from time to panic. I'm not saying we'll win 20 this year, but step off the ledge. 06'...lost to them in game 3 and went on to win the belt. 07'...lost to them in game 4 and ended up losing in the quarters to wku. *this was Josh and Tristan's freshman year. 08'...lost to them in game 12 and ended up losing to wku in the semis 09'...beat them in game 2 by 2 points in double OT in game 2 and won the belt 10'...beat them in game 6 and lost in the finals to ualr. 11'...you know what happened in game 3. Granted the games above were all within 10 points, but it shows that one, we struggle against this team and two, that a loss to them isn't the end of the world. Also, we've won 20 games in every one of the seasons above.1 point

ANYTIME we lose to a UTA (otherwise known for its UNBELIEVEABLY TAINTED ATHLETICS), it is time to panic. I was actually going to Austin on Tues. to see us play UT. Thank goodness yesterday was my 65th birthday and I had dinner with my wife rather than attend or hear this atrocity. This kind of confirms just like the TT game and even more so that this team can not shoot, can't get a long rebound, and is infatuated with shots beyond the arc that they hit 1 of 18 against TT. I have season tickets but I wish they were to Karen Aston's womens team now. At least they have some pride and scrap to win. The men's team is playing sand lot BB and is an embarrasment when it loses to a crappy metro team like UTA. This was almost as bad as the Rice FB game in Houston three years ago for the image of NT's athletic program. I hope Tony Mitchell is as advertised as someone needs to pull this bunch of shot happy playground players into a team!!!!!!!!1 point

You have popped off with several statements that are only slightly based in reality (seeing things in incoming recruits that no one else does) and then call other people idiots...um, ok.1 point

I'm very surprised over this. I don't see the advantages of a conference merge? Will they have to share TV revenue? The MWC never had a title game, so CUSA is willing to add more teams to that payout? This doesn't seem very well thought out. More of a desperation move by the two conferences, IMO.1 point

Possible outcome. However, the CUSA contract pays for a Champ. game, the would have to re-negotiate that and possibly lose revenue. Their network will have to share the game with the Mtn. and I could see a problem there. Not saying its a deal breaker but some consideration. Also with 2 leaving the MWC they will have 8 sports members, and 7 for Olympic sports. I can't imagine they would want to stay at 7, so I see 1 all sports like Utah State, or a non-football team being added. On an added note, if the teams stay and the alliance goes through, the MWC will have to go to 12 to match CUSA. Meaning they take two from the WAC, or us with one from the WAC in a best case scenario. Either way that leaves the WAC ripe for a raid. The SBC should expand at that point.1 point

This is the hardest part of the equation to solve. It's the hardest part to solve because, in my opinion, your time in college as a student is where you cement your allegiance to your alma mater's football team and other athletic teams. Once you graduate, your evolution as a football fan is pretty much complete. From there on out, it's about your college football team and your local (or acquired) pro team. It's going to be an uphill battle to fire up alums who never grew that attachment to the Mean Green while they were in college. I'm not saying it can't be done, simply that it's going to be tough. I think it starts with winning. One thing I've come around to thinking about the UNT fan base this season is that no one outside us hard core folks are going to show up for anything less than a winning team. Merely being competitive isn't going to cut it. We need to establish a winning tradition here and I think Coach Mac and his folks are doing that. Yeah, there will be folks who will say "but we won under Dickey and people still didn't come." I think it will be different now because of the Apogee Advantage. We won under Dickey and people didn't flock to Fouts regularly because Fouts was a dump. It was like going to a college football game in a 3A stadium in West Texas. No casual fan is going to go for that and, like it or not, that is what who we're trying to woo here: casual fans that we wish were hard core fans. I like your idea of reaching out to alumni with free tickets or 2-for-1 tickets. Don't just send them information on how to buy tickets; put the tickets in their hands. I'd strongly suggest the AD do some serious direct marketing to UNT alums living in the Metroplex and Texoma regions. I know alums in both regions who would come to a game if given tickets or a 2-for-1 deal, and these are folks who, for the most part, don't donate to the university and have little to no connection to the wider UNT community since they graduated. This could be a great way to get them back here, get them into Apogee, and get them at a game experience. I've been very impressed with Apogee and the game experience and I think it sells itself better than any of us can sell it. UNT, whether it's the university or a college or a department, is always asking for money from alums. Why not pleasantly surprise alums and give those disconnected a reason to come back?1 point

They r not going to b n DFW or Florida....Better check with the recruiting coordinators !!1 point

What's the benefit of the merger again? The winner of each division plays in a championship game for the right to play in which bowl game? I don't see the winner of this championship game getting an auto invite to a BCS level bowl unless the BCS ranking is high enough.1 point

You're not a bad fan. But it's not as much about the teams as you think it is. Let's say we were 10-0 going into the game last week with wins with this schedule. FIU Vanderbilt James Madison Toledo Bryant FAU ULL ULM Ark. St Troy What I just did there was use our Sun belt schedule and then replaced the 4 OCC games with the team ranked one place higher in Sagarin's rankings than the same team Houston has played on their schedule. Vanderbilt 51 (for UCLA) James Madison 128 (for Us) Toledo 53 (for La. Tech) and Bryant 205 (for Georgia St.) We probably would have had a nearly packed or packed house. The problem is mostly wins not who we play. What we have to stop doing is scheduling 4 games that we will mostly likely lose OCC. The extra 10K fans that bandwagon come to those games, see us get smacked and say to themselves, oh well we still aren't good, maybe next year. And then they don't pay attention no matter what happens. If and only if we were ablt to run the table in conference like we did with Dickey, people start to pay attention again by the last game or maybe two. EDIT: Sorry I edited because I had typed Georgia Tech rather than Georgia St.1 point

I'm not sure if you are saying that we would never get above 17K vs UTSA. If you are, then I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I didn't do an official count, but I'm guessing that WKU brought about 20 fans to a very important game. Plus do an unofficial survey of students. Would they be more interested in attending a game vs UTSA or WK-who? Does anyone think that UTSA would bring any less fans than WKU? Here's a little historical perspective. From the 2005 official football guide. Highest attended games at Fouts. 1. Baylor (2003) 29,437 2. Baylor (2000) 28,315 3. TCU (2001) 22, 837 4. SMU (1990) 22,750 (1-AA years) 5. McNeese (1994) 20,733 (1-AA years) 6. Montana (1994) 20,730 (1-AA years) 7. SFA (1989) 20,252 (1-AA years) 8. NMSU (2002) 20,064 9. ULL (2003) 19,271 10.UNLV (1999) 19,011 Yearly average attendance (selected years) During our "Bowl run"years 2001, 14,769 2002, 15,260 2003, 18,694 (boosted in large part by the Baylor game attendance) 2004, 15,184 Averages during our 1-AA days when we were nationally ranked on a fairly regular basis. 1986, 12,730,4 home games (record 6-4) 1987, 13,764,4 home games (record 7-5) 1988, 15,319,5 home games (record 8-4) 1989, 14,289,5 home games (record 5-6) 1990, 14,783,6 home games (record 6-5) What I'm seeing by looking at these numbers is that there was not a whole lot of difference in our attendance from our 1-AA days and our bowl run days. THIS STATEMENT DOES NOT MEAN I'M ADVOCATING A RETURN TO 1-AA. Opponents with better name recognition helps somewhat, but not all that much. So, I'm not the least bit inclined to sneer at the prospect of being in a conference with Texas St. and/or UTSA. They will bring in a hell of a lot more of their fans than FAU, FIU, WKU and Troy. ArkSt. and ULL do alright, but I would be willing to bet that UTSA and Tx St. fans would travel to Denton in much higher numbers on a regular basis than either of them. What I have advocated all along is that North Texas look at it's CULTURE as much, if not more, than it's conference affiliation.1 point

The WAC and Southland are even more terrible. You're right, we need to get out of this conference. But we have to start beating the teams in it like they just slept with your sister. Especially the ULM, ULL, WKU, MTSU, FAU, FIU of the world. Ark St and Troy, for some reason are the only 2 other schools they seem to recognize.1 point

UTA, that "average" team from the lowly Southland, just lost by ten to #10 Baylor at Baylor. I wonder who'll find a new job first, Scott Drew or Johnny Jones, since they'll both clearly be fired now.0 points

Gomeangreen.com in a nutshell 1) Very reasonable opinion stated 2) Reply - Why do you think that? 3)Fairly reasonable point to back up original. 4)Downvote I don't see any of ULL's wins that equal SMU's over TCU. Don't see it being a blowout though.0 points

WTF happened with this game?? I couldn't watch it, but there is NO excuse for such a poor as$ performance! Getting completely manhandled by UTA...really??? Didn't this team have major talent as a top 30 recruiting class??? Wow, I hope this team realizes they need to do something different and fast, starting with coach JJ. This is absolutely embarrassing.-1 points

Seems to me that we have lost to UTA in the past and still had good seasons. We are UTA's NCAA playoff game. They were at home in their weird gym (which should have never been sanctioned for NCAA division I play) and had more experience...oddly, they even had a bit of a crowd. They will be very average when they move to a real basketball arena.-1 points

California, that would be #18 California, just lost 92-53 to Missouri. Should Cal fire their coach? Should they lament how overrated they must have been? Or, and bear with me, should they realize that occassionally the snowball rolls downhill on you and you take a big loss? I concede that we have a LONG way to go to get where we're capable of being...but I think the ride will have far more smooth parts than bumpy ones when all is said and done.-1 points

And eventually shove us back to the FCS. Students and alumni don't want to see the freaking Hilltoppers come play. When your opposing team brings five fans total, your opposing team lives too far away. The SBC is just slaughtering our program, and has since we left Southland. This is completely ridiculous. I mean, there's no rivalries with these schools, and ALL the students laugh/joke around about the schools we play because no one's ever heard of them. Furthermore, unless we start tearing it up in the Sun Belt for years, attendance won't rise. People laugh and put us down when we play WKU or FIU or ULL. There are only two schools that are well known nationally. Us, as NTSU, and Troy. I could care less if we went to the WAC or even went back down to Southland. At least I'd care about who we're playing.-1 points
