I don't recommend tattoos...I have to live with a portrait of Todd Dodge in his mean green coaching gear for life...ugh, I just wasn't thinking straight after that WKU victory...13 points

Easy solution - Understand the meaning of "class" and show it! "Class" does not mean the students cannot heckle - or the old folks, either - just be creative, and do it in a "classy" manner. Is graffiti classy? Surprisingly, it can be (as can heckling - the Rice University MOB has been creatively classy hecklers for years!). As an examplle, one year the Mean Green played at the University of Kansas. Quite a few of us rode together on an Amtrak train to Lawrence, Kansas (had our own coach; Amtrak stopped to pick us up at Sanger). After the game, as we waited for the train home to come through Lawrence, several of us killed time at a jazz joint in downtown Lawrence - Paul Gray's Jazz Place. The venue was obviously frequented by both KU students and professors. The restrooms were covered in graffiti - but not the trashy graffiti one would expect in a restroom; there was none to be found; no phone numbers to call. But what was written on the various walls of the restrooms was profound, highly intellectual, very creative graffiti - but it was both classy and classic. Hecklers - get creative - drop the mf'ing and all of the other sleazy language. One poster said that he did not use the trashy language and yet was able to be an effective heckler and enjoyed doing so. Another is very proud of his 50-yard line location because he can continously hurl f-bombs at the players, staff, and the female trainers. Classy! Whatever you do reflects upon you and your university - but if you feel you are intellectually and creatively limited - and you think the only way you can be an effective heckler is by using trashy language....... carry on.5 points

Even if they're healed he should leave them on for games. I can't imagine him any other way. If the AD had any brains they would have a coach Mac sunglasses night for the student section.5 points

Why credit one coach above another? When we someday crack the top 10, I'll get a human centipede with every man who helped get us there.3 points

You just need to find an artist that's good at alterations. Hell, in the past ten years the small of my back has gone from a girlfriend, to Dickey, to Dodge, to Rodge, to another girlfriend, and now to Scrappy. I think Scrappy stays....3 points

I couldn't find a thread worth reading or following so I started my own. Do you guys think the UNT football program is headed in the right direction given the changes made over the last 2 or 3 years?2 points

Unless JJ wins 100% of the games this season he needs to go. It's time for this program to show some progress.2 points

is there going to be a generic looking punter getting rattled in the picture?2 points

I tend to just sit outside the tattoo parlor drinking in the parking lot. I never actually go in.2 points

Agreed. Let's grab this bit and run with it. Get the students involved like the idiots out in lubbock did with leach and the pirates. It's a great way to get behind the coach.2 points

If only we had some magical fan sitting on the 50 behind the ASU bench to cuss at them, call them every name in the book, and get them so mad they couldn't concentrate...2 points

Talking to both J.P and Roger they both say they are good... Roger told me a month ago that he had like 1 more thing to clear.. There are absolutely no signs on Patton not being able to cause everyone was released for Grambling.. Both should be playing I would be shocked if not2 points

Greeks are in fact torn based on the fact we want to support our school, but the school beats on the greeks. I will defend something that helped me get where I am today because I learned a good deal of leadership and was able to hone that into my daily life. Its hard, because my greek experience gave me the tools to succeed in my career, where my school simply gave me a prerequisite to get my job. I owe much to my fraternity, and little to my school. To call out my arguments about homecoming, well, you've never been a part of a greek homecoming. You would never understand the politics and pomp and circumstance behind a ridiculous dog and pony show. Being a part of it, greek alums come home for the greeks, 90% of the time, not the school. From the outside in, you can't understand, and from the inside out you can't explain it.2 points
-
1- stop calling it a frat. Do you call your country a, well, I don't need to finish that. 2- the blame does not rest solely on the greek system. They are students, and students are apathetic regardless of affiliation. 3- Jackasses are jackasses. It's easy to single out someone because they're wearing greek letters, however, how many rowdy students are tailgating out there not being singled out? THAT is outright discrimination. This is a huge problem since I left UNT. 4- Any desire to help the university IN ANY CAPACITY is eroding as we speak based on the reception that they are getting. Would you want to participate if you bust your hump to put together the largest contribution of the homecoming parade, bring back hundreds, in some cases thousands of alums, for homecoming and march them to the stadium if this was how you were going to be treated?2 points

If we don't win practice today, JJ should have to lug all of our tailgate gear on his back from the Super Pit to "The Hill" for the next football game, set it up, keep watch over it, protect us all from menacing Greek letters, clean up and lug it all back to the Super Pit post game. If the trip from the Super Pit to "The Hill" exceeds 5 minutes, he should be fired immediately. Besides, this team is done. Wish I could get excited, but I don't see us winning a game this year.1 point

You do realize we're playing Arkansas STATE, not Arkansas? They only beat ULM by 8 or something like that. Sure, we'll have to play a good game, but it won't have to be perfect.1 point

We are not sure yet on Franklin, Patton, and Mitchell so can not put cart before the horse. Probably 95% Mitchell joins in barring he flubs some coursework. Patton and Franklin are still awaiting NCAA Clearance and since we are not a Syracuse, KS, etc.. they take their sweet time. Otherwise I think the team would be #1 easily.1 point

I asked a coach at TCHS yesterday who comes by where I work every morning and I asked him what Todd Dodges recruiting was like. He said" Honestly, he alienated most Texas HS coaches and players. He felt like he didn't feel the need to recruit and create the relationship with the coaching staffs . They would all just show up on his doorstep" This is explains a lot about the recruiting in the past years and how much respect North Texas has to gain back.1 point

If I recall correctly, WVU is in the top fifteen or so schools in all time wins. They have plenty of tradition.1 point

More about Coach T and WVU rather than North Texas. All the assuming this and assuming that from other regions 1,000 miles away from DFW is what got smu in the big east because there was obviously no research or resume ' checking on a progarm with 2-3 winning seasons in 25 years is it now? I've never even said we were AQ prime time ready because we are not (unless you go by some other unusual entrance standards the Big East has used to fill in their little cookie cutter conference with TV markets "they assume" any school located in said market is their goat ropin' son-of-a-gun TV drawing stalwart. As I recall from the past on this board, when the subject of TV markets comes up it does seem to tweak one of your nerve-endings, greenminer. Amazing how on these message boards there are so many schools of thought on a variety of subjects that some even might even disagree on from time to time w/o getting a tad all bent out of shape about it, either.1 point
-
Going to other message boards and flooding it with UNT info makes us look like the desperate fat girl at a party that will go home with anyone. It only annoys other boards when outsiders come to their turf. Most people here told TXST posters to shove it when they came here talking about their stadium. I like reading other boards to see what they think, but when you saturate it with a bunch of UNT bias it ruins the point. Especially, when it's a poll.1 point

I have noticed from where I sit that I can see the big KA sign on the hill...this means they can see our section from where they are drinking, etc. So how about a big sign for section 206 that says "Hey Greeks, drink another beer and forget about your team!" Or,"Hey Greeks, what ever you do, don't enter the stadium!"1 point

Is CUSA a step up from the Sunbelt ? Especially if SMU and Houston leave, leaving only UTEP as an in-state rival for us. No auto. BCS spot, just like the Sunbelt. Note: of the three schools considered to be favorites to join the Big 12, Louisville has the lowest avg. football attendance ( about 48,000 ) with the others averaging much more ( V-Tech 66,000 ).1 point
