  1. Tech's in the top 20 in what again?? Chlamydia cases reported.... maybe? Fanbase? Well, I guess they MAY edge out Baylor. MAYBE. In one week, you've announced we need to cuss more, you've boasted about using the the most mind-numbingly terrible heckle of all time in which you explain to the opposing team's punter that our defense will literally not get a single stop all day, and you've now insisted upon Tech and Texas as having stellar fanbases we should emulate. I don't know what to say, really.... quite a debut. Eff yeah, brah.

  3. Todd Dodge's awful recruits? That line is getting pretty old. Our best players on offense(Dunbar, Hamilton, Brelan, Bynes, Tomlinson, Y'Barbo, Fortenberry, Thompson) were all Dodge recruits. Our defense is young, but our best defensive players(Orr, AK, Sarge) were all Dodge recruits. Whether he got the full potential out of these guys is one thing, but to say these guys aren't talented is a freaking joke.

  5. Why don't we also discuss the amount of Greeks that make in into the stadium. Let's also compare that amount to how the rest of the students turnout. I guarantee the Greeks have a higher turnout % than most. Winning games and making them exciting will help to get more and more in from their tailgates.

  6. OK, seems attendance at Apogee is up 20% over prior years so far and that if UNT averages 15,000 in attendance for its last two home games, UNT will set an all-time attendance record! Heard Coach Mac say that at last evening's radio show live and in person from Rudy's BBQ. I had no idea that such was the case, nor did I realize that attendance was up 20%. I know the Houston game and the stadium opening crowd has a lot to do with that number, but looks better than I thought. I do, however, believe that UNT is more than capable of getting a minimum of 20,000 in attendance for each and every home game no matter who the opponent might be, and am still disappointed in crowds numbering in the 15,000-17,000 range. But, looks like a start to me, and a fairly decent one at that. Our naming rights partner, Apogee, will probably be pleased with these numbers should we get the 15,000+ for the final two home games. Win a road game or two, have some decent weather and it's probably a DONE DEAL. Good to hear, nice to know, but let's make 20,000 the "standard" next season. Thanks to all who are helping to make this happen for UNT.

  9. WV is ~120 miles from these cities, and their DMA ranks: Washington DC--8th ranked DMA Cleveland/Akron--18th Pittsburgh--23rd (50 miles away) Their football and basketball are pretty good, and they have had recent success in both. They are academically on par with Louisville. Cincinnati--35th Louisville--48th Colorado State--unranked. They are obviously close to Denver (#15) but don't really deliver that market, nor do they have a history of much success in major sports. I think WV is probably the "best choice" pick. Plus they will say yes if asked.

Let me know know how it works when all the job makers say FU and leave.

  19. Can we start laying off the Dodge recruits somewhat, they appear to be playing just fine, if you want to say Dodge could not get the best out the players so be it, but tiresome now to say how bad the players he recruited are when he had a couple of the highest classes that UNT has seen, sucks so many did not pan out. Outside of the OL these are Dodge recruits who are starting to gel. Not fair to the players to say they are horrible all the time.

  20. This is the greatest college sports message board/forum/blog/podcast in the COUNTRY! Period! Why? Because it is not a sub-board on some sports website like the rest of the conference uses. It is not in competition with 100 other message boards, like the hundreds of copycats for Texas or Ohio State. Most of us here personally know some or most of the other members. It is run by hard-core fans of this university who are constantly trying to make the board better. All hail Harry and Evan.

Had I actually meant to offend you, there would have likely been an additional barrage of 4 letter words and or distasteful comments about your questionable parentage. moreover, I would like to take this time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication it takes to maintain this forum for us, the Mean Green Nation, as a labor of love for those who are involved, and would further like to point out how well you allow us all to express ourselves even when our opinions are offensive and flat out stupid. 35. In digging for information, found a funny thread on Soonerfans.com about this kid. The funny stuff isn't so much about the kid quitting, but OU - ranked #11 in the country, 6-1, with a Heisman candidate at QB - has fans complaining about... ...drum roll please... ...lack of use of the tight end... ...lack of imagination by their offensive coordinator... ...lack of a run game: http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/showthread.php?161655-Haywood That's funny, funny stuff. It's like McCarney said on the radio show tonight, he knows everyone in the stands is a coach. He said Florida had 92,000 fans in the stands every Saturday when he was there. He knows they are here. OU has them, too... ...gentlemen, we have arrived! We bitch and complain every bit as much, and about the same things, as the big schools' fans do! Now, if our beloved boys could win as much as OU and Florida to legitimize our complaining!

  39. I don't think so. I think our better chance is to sweep the final 3 games of the season. Very do-able, looking at Troy. Of course, if we beat ASU @ Jonesboro, then I think our chances of actually sweeping the final 3 games is much better. Disrespectfully, we are both teams' homecoming games. If we lose next weekend, I don't think it's the end of our bowl hopes.

  40. I see that OWS in NYC is now fighting amongst themselves on how to spend $500k in donations they have received. They have General Assembly meetings every night where a few of the privileged leaders ultimately make the final decision. In other words, their socialist utopia is already failing to provide for their members. How ironic that their protest to end capitalism demonstrates exactly why we should NEVER end capitalism.

  44. A couple of thoughts: 1) I don't think Collins ever sits empty when DHS plays at it's own stadium. It is hard to schedule 3 teams to play in one home stadium, so DHS not playing there relieves some scheduling issues, but not all. 2) I don't think you can compare UNT draw to a DHS/Ryan game. High school is mostly students and parents; public schools don't really market outside the cafeteria. 3) I don't think it's a Denton thing; its a metroplex dominated by Big XII thing. For example, take a look at Sports Authority in Denton, they barely sell UNT compared to OU and Texas... do you blame Denton on that? Let Coach Mac do his thing. This train is moving.

  45. A great first post and one that should be taken to heart. It is painful to log on for information and be flooded with so much trivia and multiple comments that don't offer well thought out observations or suggestions for making things better. Perhaps sthe Board leadership should put up a complaint forum and let those who simply want to treat the board like a text message give and take play on that forum.
