Let's put a "U" on our helmets. It doesn't look like any other team will be using that logo for a while. GO MEAN GREEN6 points

Just broke on Yahoo. Incrediblty sad, the best there has ever been as far as womens coaches go.4 points

Not really. Ever see OU tailgating? Parking is limited and we don't need people who are not going to watch the game taking up space.4 points

DMN and ESPN Dallas seem to be under the impression that Texas, 0U, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech are all in the DFW area.4 points

Ok, so here's the plan for the 24 hour tailgate. I'll be setting up camp at 6pm Friday the 9th. Not knowing just how many people will be there it'll be Chicken Express family meal time. A little "corn hole" playing, a little (lot) drinking, and maybe some playstation that night. Saturday it's scrambled eggs, bacon and tortillas on the grill. Read the DMN and DRC sports pages for a bit then start making phone calls to find out where the hell everyone is!!! It's game day folks! After a few (5) beers, it's on to the real drinking. Mean Green Punch!!! (For those that know it by its proper name...you know what time it is) Once my crew is all accounted for it's time to fire up the grill again. A few racks of ribs, some shrimp kabobs and time to throw the pill around ON ACTUAL GRASS. By now the wife should be arriving along with my mom so I'll have to tone down the party...just a bit. Full and still half buzzed it'll be time to walk into Apogee for the first game ever. After shedding a few tears of joy and saying a short "thank you" prayer I'll watch my Mean Green tan the hides of a few Cougars. Best. Weekend. Ever.3 points

Pretty sad that as I was reading through the FAQ and came to "Where is RV parking?" my first brief thought was why does everyone need to know where Rick Villareal is parking. Sad, but true.3 points

I think a lot of these rules are set up only to be used in extenuating circumstances. Don't make an a$$ out of yourself and you shouldn't have a problem. Examples: Hosting 100 people at your tailgate while the game is in the 2nd quarter, brining the biggest grill you can find and then pointing out that the regulation only says "should" (private property, folks. They can throw you off just because they don't like the way you look). Be nice and respectful (yes, even to the parking Nazis) and you shouldn't have a problem.2 points

I would rather not contibute to our society (specifically the sports realm) spiraling even faster towards idiocracy (which I know is inevitable) and thus making me more insane. For the record I am 21 so don't worry old timers, not all of us youngsters our in support of the "new age" unis.2 points

I took care of Green P1 yesterday so you girls go ahead and post away. I for one like having the influence of a group of young enthusiastic females on the board.2 points

They literally used a runway to show off these things! With real players striking various poses along the way. I don't know what the rest of these crazy uniform unveilings are like, but when you have football players walking a runway, something has gone horribly, terribly, catastrophically wrong.2 points

She could probably coach half the mens coaches under the table. All-time great. I'm glad she's going to keep coaching.2 points

Well, they may not be in the area, but each has a very large fan base in the DMN's subscription area. I think it's simply a way for the DMN to gain some readership that they may not otherwise have. I think we have all noticed that these schools seem to have a good number of folks wearing their colors. Heck, Texas even has an entire store open in Ft. Worth (off 7th Ave. near the new In and Out Burger) for their gear. Right in the heart of Frog country there is a store dedicated to Texas gear! So, while these schools may not be "in" the DFW area, they are certainly in the subscription area and the viewing area of the metroplex. I just wish that UNT got more of the coverage. And, i think it will as soon as the alums and fans start demanding that UNT be given the coverage. That coupled with the new stadium and some winning football should do the trick. But, don't for even one second think that both ESPN and the DMN know how little respect even UNT's own fans and alums have given the program and school over the last several years. Why should the DMN and ESPN pay attention if the school's own alums and fans wear other university colors, bad mouth their own school and programs and never stick up for UNT at "water cooler" and discussions and social functions? UNT is doing everything it can to earn the respect of the metroplex and its own alums and fans can help that a great deal by letting people know that you are proud to be a member of the great Mean Green Nation. Show up and support the program...numbers talk. Join the Mean green Club, join the Alumni Association, donate what and when you can to your academic department. It all counts and it all matters. As alums, fans and friends, when we demand respect we will get respect. You can be part of the solution, or you can sit back and wonder why these other schools continue to get more "press" than UNT in the DMN.2 points

"Tailgating is not permitted while game is in progress." I'm beginning to REALLY think the AD is listening. This staying outside all game stuff was truly pathetic.2 points

I will be set up adjacent to the newest lot (the one being paved just east of the current victory lot). That's the red one...I think. GreenN'awlinsVet: I see no reason not to have one big tailgating setup. Let's get the party started and let 'em build around us!2 points

My wife and I finally dined at the Chuy's in Denton on Sunday. One of the T-Shirts they have available, the one our waiter was wearing, has a Jalepeno Pepper with the SOW wings attached and underneath says ChUy's North Texas. The UN and T are printed larger and they stand out. Of course the writing and pepper are green. I thought it was a creative tribute to UNT.2 points

Polls don't mean much, but the ebb and flow of economic indicators are far more telling. We were WELL into WWII before there was an uptick, and years into the big spending in the New Deal there was no economic benefit being felt in any measurable way. Kram is correct, and if you do some real reading on the subject, including point of views both ways, I think you'll find reason to question the story fed us for so many years. WWII got us out of the great depression, not the New Deal.2 points

Kind of what I was thinking. I actually recently read up on the subject because it was something that interests me. I will have to see if I can find the links to the study I read, but it was basically a poll of economists (primarily academics) on whether the policies helped or hurt in relation to bringing the country out of thee depression. I think the response was definitely mixed, but I think it was between 60-70% came down on the helped side, with the others in the prolonged camp. Far from a consensus on the issue.2 points

Very short notice I know, but I just stumbled upon it on facebook. "Fans will be treated to free pizza, t-shirts, music, and will even get a chance to play with the North Texas volleyball team." Starts at 7pm in the Volleyball Center! http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=205243313 http://www.facebook.com/MeanGreenSports1 point

Does anyone know when they will be mailing out the season tickets. Me and a few friends purchased the tickets about 2 weeks ago and I was wondering when I could expect them in the mail.1 point

For what it's worth, I agree with Vito. What troubles me are the comments McCarney has made regarding the size and strength of our football team and the lack of fundamentals in tackling. Add that to the losses up front and I wonder how we will get Dunbar and the running game going. I enjoyed my time at UNT and will be rooting for em with the rest of you come the 10th, but I'm concened, must say. First things first - let's see how we fare against FIU.1 point

HA! Sadly, he will not be attending the FIU game and I haven't heard from him in a while... I wonder if he knows that Mean Green Scrappy (who will be in Miami) is doing his best to take his place...1 point

From Wikipedia: James Madison, Jr. (March 16, 1751 – June 28, 1836) was an American statesman and political theorist. He was the fourth President of the United States (1809–1817) and is hailed as the “Father of the Constitution” for being the primary author of the United States Constitution and the author of the United States Bill of Rights. __________________ ---I would say that puts him in a pretty good position in the rankings... unless you don't think much of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I wouldn't call any of these guys Conservative ... they supported change ... the Tories (conservatives) didn't. The founding fathers also supported the separation fo church and state... didn't think religion should control government or governmnet should control religion..... because of what they had seen in Europe and all the wars as the result of religious beliefs. Above video seems to show the opposite of those beliefs. That doesn't mean people shouldn't be religious though.... just not try to control each other.1 point
