Thanks for joining GoMeanGreen, UNT SID! Welcome to the forum! We only allow you to read the first 5 threads of the day... After that, you'll have to stop viewing the forum activity. If you try to read the board, even not logged in, we'll have to ask you politely to leave or remove you from the premises involuntarily. Thanks, and GMG!7 points

I feel sorry for programs that don't garner enough interest to get a legitimate fan driven message board up and running. Those scout forums are such an ass-whip.7 points

I seem to recall a game against UT where our D-line spent the entire game in their backfield. Sacked Simms what, 7-8 times?4 points

This truly is not meant to be a swipe at UT but I read an article where they quoted opposing coaches who faced the horns last season. A predominant theme was that they knew they could "hit em in the mouth" and the horns would roll over. And, more to the point of the article, it's funny to me that our real D1 coach summed up the entire Dodge era without realizing it... “We still have a long ways to go, but we didn’t start from scratch like we did on the first day of spring practice, when it was embarrassing,” said McCarney, who took over the program after last season. “It wasn’t embarrassing out there today. They are getting more physical and have a better understanding of what I and my coaches expect when we go full go.”3 points

---Supposedly 40% of the debt increase since 2001 is credited to the wars, of which Iraq represents the most and was not related to 9-11 (almost all were Saudis, no Iraqis) and they had no WMD either, and 40% of debt increase is credited to the decreased revenue (tax cuts) and the remaining 20% other reasons (ie. about 2% per year or less than the interest owed). The crash of the economy in 2008 has also resulted in less taxes being collected as well which likely represents most of the other 20%... ---So... who do YOU blame.??? ..3 points

Something tells me our forum names are gonna start changing and dissenting posters are gonna start disappearing in the middle of the night. Anyone seen or heard from LoveMG in a while?3 points

"give me your knowledge" is the creepiest thread title not involving the word "Storm" in a decade. Also, I bet it makes the panties fly off in the bars of Knoxville.3 points

The White Stripes Seven Nation Army is a great stadium song. Futbol fans on both sides of the ocean chant it at games. Some college football fans also have chanted it. The words are easy enough even FFR would like it.2 points

Thank gawd the flag football mentality is gone. Just what we need. A huffin, puffin, slobberknocker, take no prisoners attitude with our guys wearing combat boots and not ballerina shoes in the trenches.2 points

Mean Green football has brought the "fun" back in supporting the program with this set of coaches, the new stadium and the effort the players are making. It's FUN once again to talk about the Mean Green and people all over the place have turned from being overly critical to be genuinely excited and happy once again. Good things are truly happening for the Mean green faithful! GO MEAN GREEN! WHY THE HECK NOT NORTH TEXAS INDEED!2 points

Great news. Long time coming. I think a lot of success in football at this level is that football is as much a mental game as any team sport. One of the best ways for teams that might not be as gifted as others to have a shot at beating physically superior teams is by being physical. The team that has the mentality of "we are going to out-hit and out-hustle you" and "we will be relentless, and we will not be intimidated" and "we are going to impose our will on you physically, and intimidate YOU" is generally the team that will create success for themselves by being in the right place to force turnovers, catch other teams loafing, and making plays, even in spite of perceived "lesser" abilities. UNT had a lot of this in their bowl seasons, and it has been present in many players since, but has not been an overall strength in the past few years, IMO. It's good to see this coming from the top down. It's a fundamental, historically successful, and proven method of building a consistently winning program. It's really Football 101, but it's great to see.2 points

"No No No never no never no never." I can't believe I've been sucked into this semi-annual thread again but if ACDC is playing to crank things up I may have to leave. So tired. So old. So annoying.2 points

I know I'll be absolutely hated for saying this, but God I wish they would play something other than old "classic" music. Something from this decade would be nice, but none of that radio top 40 crap or whatever it is. Maybe some upbeat modern rock or metal would be nice.2 points

I live in Bossier City and will be at all the home games plus ULaLA. I would be glad to tag along with anyone headed east and passing through to other games.2 points

That made me laugh out loud, but be careful, this is North Texas and it could happen.2 points

If A&M is accepted by the SEC it almost becomes impossible to speculate because many conferences could be involved. For instance, who else comes to the SEC? It could be Missouri, reducing the Big XII one further, or it could be Clemson or Florida State, taking one from the ACC. Does the now Big VII or IX try to add two or four more teams (or even six) to become the major Midlands conference? Do some go to the MWC or the Pac-12? The Big East is now virtually forced to expand at least to 12. Do the come from CUSA or from the former Big XII? Or both? The only conference with possibly a pat hand could be the Big X+2; but that may not be a slam-dunk. North Texas could end up in any of four conferences. It depends on our success on the field and attendance this year. At the very least we will need to make significant progress. We had the perfect formula for this explosion to happen...Greed (Big X/Longhorn Network) and Pride (Aggies rebuffed/SEC threatened).2 points

Hold on... You're saying that when all this conference realignment happens, the MWC is going to be looking at 2 teams in Texas: UNT & Baylor, and we need to position ourselves to be ahead of them when the time comes? I'm sorry sir, but that cannot happen unless this realignment happens in 10 years or so... and that's IF UNT pulls a BSU, and Baylor somehow gets the death penalty or something. This is insane.2 points

Thanks! I was going to post this today actually. I checked yesterday and they were up online. Onto another very important subject! Has anyone nailed down any good sport to call the official meet up bar? There are so many options in Miami, it is hard to pick just one! I have some family down there and my uncle has a restaurant in North Miami Beach so I will ask him to see what he thinks are good places. But if anyone else has any suggestions let us know.1 point

May I suggest a fashion show at halftime of the home opener. That would make most on here VERY happy.1 point
