Is it true that Todd Dodge stole Ray and headed north to Pittsburgh in order to escape kidnapping charges? We'll never forget you Ray. The search is not over.5 points

The DO is complete garbage. Always has been. Didn't even need to read the article. Knew exactly what that average writer was going to say knowing it was from DO. I'll be buying my 25+ group tickets for the Sept 10th game on Monday with pride and will support the MEAN GREEN no matter what. I've had my critisisms in the past (like we all have) with certain decisions our school has made over the years, but it doesn't mean I will drag UNT's good intentions through the mud. As we all know, UNT has needed this for years. Great, now let's build a team now that we have the proper resources. The UNT alumni's attention is growing. No question. By the way, I work in a building overlooking SMUt and I predict school leadership and alumni starting talks on upgrading Ford already after seeing the greatness that is Mean Green Stadium. Mark my words. Oh and I like the uniforms. Now just put the symbol that is UNT on the helmet RV. Had to throw that in there. I am a writer, director and designer. Branding is everything and the time for establishing that brand has come. Looking forward to being with you all this season. Go Mean Green. -JRock5 points

May I suggest a fashion show at halftime of the home opener. That would make most on here VERY happy.4 points

That's what we get for reading trash like the D.O. Poorly written to say the least. First, the stadium was built with taxes, or, then it was built with donations and fees? Which is it dumbass? Second, we shouldn't build stadiums because the team hasnt been winning, unless your the Rangers, who is winning and at the top in the MLB in attendance? Again, which is it dumbass? Rick4 points

You know, after having the weekend to really think about this, I think this may be a good thing. I mean, Gilmer, Celina, Cuero and Abilene Wylie are all really good teams that dominate the AAA class every year. I think the American Economy would have had a tough time this year against those teams. At least in the AA+ class, it will only have to compete with Dangerfield for dominance. We're talking football right?3 points

Amazing knowledge base you have. I mean, to know the name of every single corporation in America is astounding, much less to know the wage of every single employee for every single corporation and to know that none of these millions of people have gotten a raise.3 points

"give me your knowledge" is the creepiest thread title not involving the word "Storm" in a decade. Also, I bet it makes the panties fly off in the bars of Knoxville.2 points

This is how I was hoping the post would go...What I added to the original post is in green: "hello mean green fans i am an avid tennessee and cfb fan, I just recently moved to the DFW metroplex, so I have chosen to adopt NT as my local football team. I chose North Texas not only because of their world renowned music school, but also because small private schools with sticks up their butt are stupid. I'll always be a Vols fan first, but I look forward to amassing my collection of differently shaded green shirts like you all ya'll have. Picking up my season tickets Monday! Go Mean Green!" Oh well. Welcome to the board Volsfan.2 points

Hold on... You're saying that when all this conference realignment happens, the MWC is going to be looking at 2 teams in Texas: UNT & Baylor, and we need to position ourselves to be ahead of them when the time comes? I'm sorry sir, but that cannot happen unless this realignment happens in 10 years or so... and that's IF UNT pulls a BSU, and Baylor somehow gets the death penalty or something. This is insane.2 points

I regret that I can only give you 1 +1 for this post. Both teams will have to pick their poison. FIU will stack the box to stop LD and hope we don't kill them with the play-action. We will provide safety help for TH and hope they don't kill us with the run. The coach that makes the best adjustments will come out on top. I like our chances with DanMac.2 points

My guess if we were teeing it up tomorrow night in Miami: Abbe and Cantly starting, Terrell Brooks and Kyle White running second, Boutwell or McCoy as the pass rush specialists (nickel or dime stuff). If Cantly really turns the corner he could be special. I also believe Terrell Brooks is going to be outstanding,2 points

Sorry - I think bringing in Hannity and Moore confused my point. My point was this, the author of this book isn't well known enough by liberals/people who disagree with him for them to go out of their way to write a review just to trash his rating - which is what you see with the people like I mentioned. His audience is primarily only people who agree with his agenda, which is to abolish the fed, thus pretty much ensuring mostly positive feedback. If I want a historical view on a topic, I won't go to someone whose intent is to abolish the thing I'm researching. That would be like if I wanted a historical view on the civil rights act...asking you. That's my point, obviously history is important.2 points

We've covered the helmet. The pants. The shirts. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...the shoes! I, for one, say they're fabulous, and could discuss them for the duration of the summer! Now all that's left is to see if Nike has provided the players with new backpacks for road games.1 point

Recall what we expect from our NFL hopeful, Lance Dunbar for this game. Now, apply those same expectations to FIU's NFL hopeful, T.Y. Hilton. If any of you think he's going to be shut down, you're nuts. Royce is good, and he should keep Hilton from going ballistic on us, but Hilton will get his. He always does. Imagine the laughter that would erupt on here if FIU's fans lauded some good linebacker who is going to shadow Dunbar and shut him down... Now, prove me wrong and cement your place on the SBC all-conference list Royce!1 point

The secondary can handle these guys if the DL can get pressure. It all hinges on the pass rush.1 point

Then how do you explain Bob Dole? The thing I see with the GOP is they usually nominate the "next guy" - in these things. Other than W. Bush, they've gone with what could be argued as the previous heir apparent for nearly 50 years (and I suppose he could as well given his dad & no one else who ran in '00 really had been a leading contender before). Kind of goes into a conservative stereotype in a way....you have to suffer, work your way back up, to prove you should have the nomination. 2008 - McCain gave Bush a tough primary challenge in 2000 1996 - Dole wins nomination, previous VP nominee in 1976, and was Bush's main rival in 1988 1988 - Bush, as VP was the heir apparent to Reagan 1980 - Reagan lost a bitter primary fight to Ford in 1976, went to the head of the line after Gerald barely lost his bid for own term 1976 - Ford even conceivably counts simply because he was not even elected to the VP, much less presidency. But he was sitting there, and had to face a spirited challenge by Reagan 1968 - Nixon comes back from the dead, mostly because the GOP is still picking up the pieces from the '64 debacle, and he is the standard bearer from 1960 (and Ike's VP). Basically all of these guys were next in line choices. That leaves Romney.1 point

McCarney has expressed concern about the smallness of the NT squad. Some fans are getting excited over the weight gains of the current team. With too much time on my hands I looked at the current posted rosters of the Belt teams. Knowing that the accuracy of such statistics is very suspect, I still though such a comparison would be interesting. Obviously without doing a real in depth analysis there is no knowing how current the data is or if many of the players will ever see the field. North Texas now has 22 players of 6'4" or more listed and 13 listed with weights of 300 lbs or more. Comparison with the rest of the Belt. => 6'4" =>300 Troy 17 11 FIU 13 3 FAU 30 5 ULL 19 7 ASU 22 13 ULM 7 6 MTSU 16 5 WKU 25 7 To make the comparison with the biggest programs for reference UT 31 7 OU 35 11 I think it is interesting topic for tans but mostly meaningless when the teams are on the field. I am confident that most team fudge the height posted, maybe ULM didn't get the message. I believe that NT posts the weight correctly but who knows about the other teams. I do think you can assume that NT is not that small compared to the Belt, maybe one of the biggest teams at least in the lines where players of this size will mostly be.1 point
-
One thing I did a while back was look at the 2-deep average on both sides of the line and compare the same from other teams on our schedule. I felt that the difference between us and "name" teams was the 2nd team. Those SEC guys can rotate horses in and out all day, not losing much all the way down to the 3rd stringers. Wear us out. Games are won in the trenches. It takes a little footwork, a lot of leverage and a ton of attitude.1 point

If Pres. Obama is as weak next year as he is right now, expect the nominee form the Republican party to be very to extremely conservative. That is what political parties do. Look at 2008. Bush had been vilified and had an approval rating in the high 20s. The Republicans do a give up with McCain as the nominee, and the Dems answer with easily the most liberal nominee ever put before the American people. Same thing in 1980. Carter was a disaster of a President. The Republicans nominate Reagan, who many in the media believed would start WW3 because he was so conservative and such a hawkl. What do these elections have in common? Landslide victories for the party out of power. Absent a Romney (or other Rhino nomination) or a miraculous economic recovery, this is what you will see in 2012.1 point

Well given this lot...: Michele Bachmann -- 9 percent, 44 votes John Bolton -- 4 percent, 20 votes Herman Cain -- 48 percent, 246 votes Newt Gingrich -- 1 percent, 3 votes Rudy Giuliani -- 0 percent, 0 votes Jon Huntsman -- 0 percent, 1 vote Gary Johnson -- 0 percent, 1 vote Thaddeus McCotter -- 0 percent, 2 votes Sarah Palin -- 1 percent, 5 votes Ron Paul -- 2 percent, 12 votes Tim Pawlenty -- 1 percent, 7 votes Rick Perry -- 13 percent, 67 votes Mitt Romney -- 10 percent, 49 votes Rick Santorum -- 10 percent, 50 votes Paul Ryan -– 1 vote I guess Cain would be third on my list, behind Ron Paul and Thaddeus McCotter (just for the name)1 point

I'd just offer up that we need to remember that within the "non fan" category are all potential future fans. I'm thinking beyond the uniform opinions. I'd like to see UNT respected by current "non fans" and for UNT to put an appetizing product out their for non-fans. I think we are doing that, or at least on the way. Again, I'm talking bigger picture than uniform colors. To that extent, I care what non fans think about things that are UNT. I want our fan base to grow.1 point
-
Absolutely 100% correct, sir. You have captured the brass ring. And to go one step further no one cares what non fans think about anything that is UNT.1 point

Let's not forget the constitution, here. No one should be forced to maintain a 401k. People need to start being responsible for themselves.. The government doesn't need to forrce anyone to save anything. Monday is gonna be a blood bath on Wall Street.1 point

Hey, we've been sounding the warning for decades. Now the roosters have come home to roost. The rich, middle class, and poor have to start ALL paying their fair share... and since the rich already pay an obscene tax rate and the poor... well we all know the poor won't be forced to contribute... that means the middle class will have to cough up. And that means the entitlement programs will have to stop. Not reduce growth, not minor cuts... STOP. COMPLETELY. No more Department of Education, no more food stamps, no more Section 8 housing, no more Medicare. And, we have to stop the Social Security ponzi scheme. Let Americans manage their own 401K. In fact, REQUIRE Americans to maintain a 401K for the rest of their lives. Instead of Social Security deductions, you would have to contribute to your 401K. The party is over.1 point

This is what happens when you don't do enough. Democrats, Pres. Obama, and the lilly livered Republican Party should be sooooo proud. For those that thought any agreement to raise the debt ceiling would hold the AAA rating, think again. You can play politics all day long in Washington and lie to the American people, maybe even getting them to believe you, but eventually someone is going to read your financial legislation and hold you accountable, which is what Standard and Poors did. Now, lets hope the voters decide to start doing that. When are less than 10 years away from the mess that is occurring in Europe. This country needs to stop watch Jersey Shore and wake the hell up.1 point

I'm not going to try and dissect the quote but there are approximately 310 million people in the USA. 153.4 million make up the workforce as of July 8, 2011. This leaves roughly over 156 million non workers. Government is the largest employer. If you want an example of what happens with an inflated government workforce check out Greece.1 point
