Hard to imagine the design being any better. Nod to the kids with the mildly funky stripe on the leg. But overall, Green and White. Not some tricked up "please look at us" clown suit. UNT has been playing football for 100 years. Good to see the nod to TRADITIONS. Now, set the basic colors and designs in stone and leave them alone.5 points

We have to be the only fan base in the country who could turn our injured, 5th year senior, former walk-on quarterback's lost dog into a running joke. And people say we don't have traditions.5 points

Agree to a point, but why would you discount your product this early? It's already the best value to come watch D1 college football in a nice stadium in the state. A discount this early kills everyone's perception of the product.4 points

UNT90, on 05 August 2011 - 03:02 PM, said: I never knew there were so many freaking women on this forum. Maybe we can talk about shoes next? The uniforms are green, whatever shade doesn't matter. What does matter is winning football games. If these uniforms guarantee that, then I love them. 3 freaking threads about fashion and not one about Coach Mac's speech, practice times, public access to practice, or 2 deeps? Shoot me. In the head. Right now. UNT has perception to overcome regarding football. New stadium has made tremendous impact per Mac. Each coach has 16 schools to recruit in Metroplex. Will know more about guys who were injured in spring...there were a lot. Players trusted RV after Dodge left but Mac and staff had to earn their trust. Trying to bring back respect...team is buying in. Clint Bowen is a future star. Mac coached against him when he was a player. Wouldn't have brought in his staff without financial commitment from UNT. Looking to see how the players handle adversity over the next 20 days. Mac: There will be some great days ahead for North Texas.3 points

I plus thee one...with the following caveat... I respect the hell out of Boise State for what they've done. HOWEVER. Their uniforms sucks. Their logo sucks. Their shade of blue sucks as the main color. I like that they beat BCS AQs. But, their uniforms and logos just suck it. Worm and Son of Worm are 164% better than that crappy Bronco on top of the word Boise State. No logo in FBS screams I-AA louder than that. SOW would be great. Wish we had it. But, for now, I'm giddy that we've got green helmets again. Baby steps. F'ing baby step, people. If they'd put UNT on the helmet, I'd sell my car and buy into one of those $12,000 suite packages tomorrow. The UNT finally and permanently on the helmet is my dream fantasy. But, for now, just be thankful for the return of the green helmet.3 points

I wonder if we have an all white option, I think that would actually look pretty bad ass.3 points

I'm thankful that they're green again! (As to the logo...well, we've been over that When I attended the University of North Texas, I supported UNT football.) Anyway, I'm not going to complain because it's green again. Thank you, Rick, for the green helmets again! I'm going ahead with a season ticket order now. The green helmet clinches it.3 points

I reference K-State a lot on here but the new AD John Currie is doing a great job of marketing the program and I think we could do the same. They have a program where you buy a season ticket for $99 (Big 12 games I mind you) and if you show up(your ticket gets scanned) for at least 5 of the 6 games you get those tickets at the same price next year. Heck we could even do something for like $75. It gets butts in the stands, these people will spend money on food, merchandise, etc... Kids want to play in front of people. *A seat sold for $10 or so is better than a seat not sold at all*3 points

Good: UNT Mint Chocolate Chips Better: North Texas Mint Chocolate Chips. Best: North Texas Mint Chico Chips I look forward to everyone's approval of the new shade..... I do not use the ninja smiley abusively.3 points

This situation seems to me, upon reflection, as being an indicator of where game attendance ranks in terms of personal priorities. One theory is that people know there will be good walk-up seats available on gameday so they wait to see if the weather will be to their liking, or something comes up that they would enjoy doing more, etc. It all goes back to what numerous posters have said for years: WIN. If we can put some wins in the book, we will put more butts in seats and build more than a casual fanbase. Now you do have to admit that us diehards have not enjoyed the on-field action since 2004; we continue to re-up because we are fully committed and plan our fall activities around the schedule. There just aren't enough of us that think that way...YET. JMHO3 points

Ok then, would you prefer a 22 slug (mafia style) or (Texas style) a 30-30. And BTW, the thread is clearly titled. If you don't like the subject.....pass it by....2 points

I like the jerseys, but the helmets need the SOW on them. I wish I knew why our administration won't place the logo on the helmets. Doesn't make sense to me.2 points

Oh no. Is it just me, or does it look like Thompson's right shoulder is separated? Looks like Osbourn is the man! Get well soon Derek! The uniforms look great. Go Mean Green!2 points

Not crazy about the triangular pant stripe. Otherwise, I really really like the new look. Clean and classic, a little bit retro. I want to see the green top/white pant option though.2 points

I don't love them.... but I'll get used to them. Now can we quit changing them every time we get a new coach? unless the next coach wants a better helmet.2 points

Guys, this is a good sign. If, in the span of about half a year, this staff can get those type of results, this thing may take off this year. These guys will be more mobile now. I know it's supposed to be the weakness of the defense, but I really and looking forward to seeing how these DTs work with McCarney. It's supposed to be his area of expertise. Remember when Bob Stoops took over at OU. His area of expertise was the secondary. That OU national title team in 2000 had freshmen starting at corners and a sophomore at safety. I've already argued that coaching, coaching, coaching makes a difference. So, I expect that McCarney will be able to take Abbe, Cantly and the two big freshmen Micah Thompson and Terrell Brooks, and really get the middle nailed down. Throw in junior Kyle White as well. These fall practices really are a chance for him to step up and show what he's got. Think of this, guys - with Abbe, Cantly, White, and Thompson, our front has four 300 pounders to rotate in and out. Brooks checks in at 293. We now have the beef we've needed up front...now, for the coaching. Time for McCarney and Bowen to polish it.2 points

I agree that I don't think price is the issue. I wanted to come see UNT football as a casual fan five or six years ago, but I found the process of finding tickets/parking etc. to be...not user friendly. Everything on the website back then was geared directly at mean green club members, and I clearly wasn't part of that. So I gave up. Then, when I showed up for my first game with a student ID, I didn't know what to do with myself, where to go before the game, how to park, how to tailgate, where to buy tickets for my daughter, or how I would be able to sit next to her with my student ticket and her regular ticket. All these things are supposed to be part of the experience of college football, but all I found as a casual stranger were these secret wristband societies who told me I wasn't welcome. It took actively coming here to gmg.com to find out how things work. Now maybe I'm just a lot less intelligent than your average football watching bear, but had I never become affiliated with UNT, I would've found it far too much trouble than it was worth. If anything, the ticket office, once gaining exposure in the community, needs to have printed materials that are much more clear for the novice fan on how things work. Then, on game day, there should be UNT ambassadors in the parking lots and in the stadium showing new fans around, explaining everything, and maybe gently guiding them to the team store if needed. Then do the ole', "Apply today's game ticket towards your season ticket purchase!" routine. Round 'em up, show 'em the ropes, and keep 'em in! Thos are my two cents, but since all I have is a nickel, I'll need some change, please.2 points

That's correct, no comments on recruits until they sign. Here are mine for the press conference. 1. How is our DT situation shaking out and how have Cantly, Abbe and White looked after the summer. If they have develop to Mac's expectations, does McCoy move outside, as well as Boutwell? 2. What incoming freshmen do you anticipate coming in and contributing this year? 3. Who replaces Carey at WR and how is that position shaping up? 4. How have you and the coaching staff been received at the camps around the state this summer? Do you anticipate any in west Texas in the future? We've had some good ballplayers from west and central/west exas like Gardner, Brewster, T. Casey, Turney, etc... 5. What has been his biggest surprise, in a good way, since coming to North Texas?2 points

Couldn't agree more. UT was pretty narrow minded and so was the Big (10?) for allowing the conference to play prostitute to the almighty pimp UT.2 points

And, here's where schools and conferences should be calling hulus of the world and talking about creating sports packages. Texas and BYU seems to building media empires for the 1990s. The trend is looking more and more "what I want, when I want" rather than "you buy this big package with a lot of stuff you don't want, just to get the stuff that you want." Why was channelsurfing.net so popular? Because, people could bypass the crap ESPN and ABC wanted them to watch and get to their alma mater's games instead. My guess is that the day will come when conferences and schools will wise up to the new revolution and make its sports programming available a la carte though Hulu, Blu ray, what have you. Texas and BYU will then be stuck into cable and dish contracts. One of the things that is separating the generations after baby boomers is that we don't follow in lockstep with whatever we're told is "the way to do things." Hey, I don't want to pay for a bunch of sh*t I don't watch. Hello, Hulu. Yeah, but with this package, you have.... Yeah, well, screw your package. I don't watch MTV. I don't give a flying rip about the Big Ten or Texas or BYU. ESPN can go hang itself. It seems to me that some entrepreneurial-type will someday create a college sports hulu thing. Our athletic department and our conference - all non-BCS AQ conferences - should be looking beyond getting a slice of the pie and get to baking a new pie. Quit letting ESPN, ABC, and the "traditional" power tell us what flavors we like and when we can eat it. We choose our own flavors and we eat the pie we want! Bastards!2 points

--Private messages aren't posted publicly. Just saw an opportunity to clarify beliefs and tell folks how it once was.. Some here think Liberal is an awful word. On some issues.. maybe so... but not in general. Some here think Fox slaming civil rights constantly is great... we are who we are because of changes (once called liberal ideas) .1 point
-
---Go ahead Fox lovers and trash me on the above statement... but remember who is largely responsible for the internet to be put into the public domain that you are trashing me on. The next time you hear liberall remember in 1900 when women could not vote, had few other rights, blacks were forbidden to go many places, 21 was considered an adult and you could be drafted to die for your country but not vote. Oddly I do not consider myself a liberal... at least not in today's definition. I support the old definition of marraige and a lot other conservative things.... including don't tax less and spend more for another.1 point
-
---I am for civil rights... but not some of the extreme ideas now that come from it. My grandmother was never allowed to vote. She died in 1920 in the world wide flu pandemic. She would have been able to vote later that year. My Mother was not allowed to serve on a jury until the 1970's... they were all male until about then. Unbelievable during the early 60's she tried to check on the family bank balance after making a deposit (she was working) and the bank would not let her (her name was on the account, but she was female) . They wanted to call my father to get his approval. She went ballistic. Blacks could not eat in most restaurants and some of the kids in my high school class could not attend any Southwest Conference schools or even the Baptist College in my home town. Yes I am for civil rights... of course all of the above changes were considered liberal ideas at the time. --- If you did not live through that, then you likely just don't understand how it once was. .... unfortunately some don't get it and make fun of it and yell "Liberal"....when the term ""civil rights" is used.... They don't realize how things have changed....and why. Of course my age group was sent to Nam without being old enough to vote... (not 21) and we could not do business including it was difficult to buy a car without a parental signature even if we were out of high school and on our own. . --- I am not for the all the affirmative action now. Hire the best person and ignore race or gender. Those days are gone... Stand on your own now, enough time has passed. --- Financially I am a conservative.. that is why I detest Bush doubling the debt and removing financial controls that caused this mess. But on peoples rights, people deserve to be treated fairly. --- I also support being honest....Fox said Obama was Islamic (he had a crazy Christian minister). Fox said he took the oath of office on the Koran (he used a Bible), Fox said he attended a Medrasa.. (not true) , Fox said he would not say the Pledge of Allegiance (he does, and had even led it in the Senate), They have said Gore claimed to invent the Internet (he didn't but he did support and sponcer the bill that put the internet into the public domian instead of only being a government communication system)...... Fox even pictured Bush as a financial conservative (are you kidding me?, note his budgets and the national debt) Now you understand why I can not stand Fox.. no credibiity....... Feel free to check all that info.... Fox won't like you just as they detest the mainstream media or college profs because we tend to check facts and contradict their crazy comments. I teach in a college (math, not a socialistic subject) . I am not very gullible and don't believe everything that I hear....and I don't care who said it.1 point
