  2. That's as close to a perfect hat as I've seen produced in a looong time. Nice and simple "NORTH TEXAS" and Mean Green. Big time programs don't have to have glitzy/gimmicky gear.....just tell em' who you are, and that should be enough. Now, if the exes would only produce a cap just like this one with the NT exes logo on the front, and exes on the back......

  4. http://www.kstatesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/071511aaa.html He didn’t promise a certain number of wins, but only said that nothing would help the progress of the program more than a stadium full of purple-clad Wildcat fans. This is a perfect blue print of what Coach McCarney is trying to do here. He and Bill have been friends for a very long time. I personally watched K-State go from the worst program in college football to almost playing for a national championship. Fans are a huge part of this process. I had no affiliation to North Texas until November of this year. It all started with a basketball game. I am now 100% behind this program and make every effort to attend any events tied into it. This type of support is what needs to happen in order to build this program. I hope many people read this and fully understand how important it is to back this rebuilding process. Just think one day we can all say hey I was there when this started just like I can say about the process K-State went thru.

  8. Anyone besides me glad that this Darius Carey issue came up and was promptly snuffed out during the off-season and not in the middle of football season? Such a diversion could have had a negative effect on our team during our "run to the Sun Belt" title.

  10. The bookstore has a small section of Nike clothing. They had two Nike caps, green one in the pic, and a black one with the Nike emblem on the back. The t-shirts were gray. I did not see any Nike polos at the bookstore, just some left over Under Armour, Cutter Buck, etc. A clerk told me more of the Nike stuff was coming after they know more about the team's uniforms and sideline apparel.

  12. ben and skin also interviewed Coach Mac a while back after the finals on a slow day i believe.... Mac does a very good job explaining what going on at North Texas and his enthusiasm is infectious.... props to the UNT marketing staff ... i think they are doing better with billboards, interviews, commercials, and radio spots as opposed to what UTSA is doing with there "Building of a Program" BS.... which talks about UTSA's traditions? i dont care how the Roadrunner mascot got his nickname.... its a downright sad show to watch lol

  16. Who are the "exes"? So, I assume you mean the UNT Alumni Association. Hasn't been the "Exes" for a few years now. So, would you buy one if we did? With the UNT Alumni logo on both the front and back? That Nike "swoosh" might have to be in another location owing to the shape and size of the logo. We might consider this IF we knew there was a big enough demand.

  17. I saw that one and the black one when my son and I went in there this week. I tried it and the black one on. I really wished I had picked up that green one. I also love the plain style cap that is not all tricked up with crap and junk all down the side or on the bill. I wear a plain black one similar to the new Nike cap all over the place and people compliment it quite frequently. It was UNT Bookstore cap as well I purchased back in the Summer of '07. It's been to the top of Kitty Hawk launch site, to the Shuttle Vehicle Assembly Building and various NASA Centers, Civil War Battlefields, and has white paint on the top of it where I hit my head at Appomattox Courthouse. Everywhere I wear around the country people ask me if I'm Mean Green. Just my way oftrying to extoll the greatness of North Texas. It my be time for a new one however.

  22. And let's take a look at some of the debt numbers over the last 10 years, the amount of debt, and the amount of the increase. 2010 13,561,623,030,891.70 13.87% 2009 11,909,829,003,511.70 18.80% 2008 10,024,724,896,912.40 11.29% 2007 9,007,653,372,262.48 5.89% 2006 8,506,973,899,215.23 7.24% 2005 7,932,709,661,723.50 7.50% 2004 7,379,052,696,330.32 8.78% 2003 6,783,231,062,743.62 8.91% 2002 6,228,235,965,597.16 7.25% 2001 5,807,463,412,200.06 2.35% 2000 5,674,178,209,886.86 So while the percentage increase spiked after 9/11 and peaked in 2003, the debt increases were on their way back down. Until the financial credit crisis hit in 2008. Take out the 800 billion in TARP money we had to pump into the system to save the investment banks and the debt would have increased by only 2.4%.

  23. Tip for ordering from meangreengear.com (advanced-online). Their warehouse is off 635 out toward DFW airport. If that's not too much of a haul for you, you can save money on shipping by picking up at the warehouse. I've done this several times.

  24. No we didn't... we had a PROJECTED surplus... many years down the road. Debt in 1998: $5,526,193,008,897.62 Debt in 1999: $5,656,270,901,615.43 Debt in 2000: $5,674,178,209,886.86 The surplus never happened... one of the great American political lies of the 20th century

  26. Agree. My two cents: The correct Kelly/Emerald Green hat and brim with white top button and vent holes with North Texas on the front, SOW or Flyin Worm on the side with Block Mean Green over the SnapBack. Either way, I'm in for whatever your brother comes up with. By the way, this thread needs to be moved to the Football page. Anyone who is willing to help us get our name and product out needs all the Mean Green Nation he can get. Rick

  29. First, 2001-2009 was not a conservative administration. Many conservatives go to Washington, begin hobnobbing with the social elite, long to be accepted by that crowd, hear the constant bashing that conservatives get, and lose their moral compass when it comes to a whole host of issues, spending being one of them. Everyone wants to fit in. It's human nature. And if you aren't approving huge social programs in Washington, you aren't fitting in with the social elite. I respect these people less than democrats. Bush was anything but a fiscal conservative. He sure was big on the tax cuts, but was lilly livered on spending cuts and outright refused to take on the Dems when it came to entitlements. His administration was a well document fiscal disaster, not because of the tax rates, but because of huge increases in spending. Funny, but for being a "true conservative", I have yet to ever see one post of yours calling for deep spending cuts to ease the deficits. All you ever talk about is increasing taxes on businesses (which are passed on to the consumer) and the rich. Pretty much the liberal democrat playbook. And you might want to mention how businesses are leaving California in droves and relocating to places like Texas because of California's tax rates. Maybe we should be more like them? Here Here and Here There were about a hundred more articles that I found on my visit to the local library, but they would only let me check three out to take home and scan into my computer. Imagine my surprise, when after accomplishing this task and returning these articles to the library, I performed a simple google search and found the same articles online!!! Well, at least I didn't reference the internet.

  30. I would think the SBC needs more of a Texas presence, but I don't think Wright Waters has the family jewels to pull that trigger albeit Karl Benson just spit in the face of the SBC and North Texas by adding a school in our backyard. Hey UTA'ers, this is not about you on a personal basis since it wasn't you all that pulled this trigger. IMHO, the FBS leagues that will fare best in the future will be the ones whose leaders will look the devil in the eye and say: "I don't give a rats behind what other people think, we're adding Texas State and UTSA because of how it strengthens "OUR" conference." (That will never happen with today's SBC). On the other side of the coin of doing the aforementioned is if North Texas pulls a TCU and distinguishes itself apart from the rest of the Texas pack. How? That's why we pay people the big bucks to go outside the usual box and figure it out. HINT: A relentless blitzkrieg to the powers that be of the MWC would be one helluva' start IMO. We're closer to all the MWC schools than UH for that matter and there are no other Texas schools with as easy travel access (with close proximity airports) than the University of North Texas.

  34. I hope this is an attempt at humor. The bay doors are a fantastic feature that allow an open air environment when the weather is really nice... you know... like in the Fall... when we play football... Common feature (and a great one) on many new bar and grills, at least around Fort Worth (which is miles ahead of that county to the East)

  35. Well some of this can be attributed to Clinton when he promoted more lax lending standards to meet Community Reinvestment Act goals. The repeal of the Glass Steagall Act didn't exactly help either as this created the "Too big to fail" banks we all became familiar with. Promoting low income/sub-prime mortgages to private banks in MBS's under Bush didn't help either. GSE's abusing their implicit guarantee to not fail from Congress was also no bueno. I mean lets face it. Not everyone has the means to be a homeowner and that shouldn't be forced upon people that should remain renters for life. The fed lowering interest rates to 1% after the dot com bubble clearly helped formulate this artificial housing boom that couldn't be sustained forever. The answer to your question is never. As the WAC continues down its path to desperately add new subprime additions (that have no business being in FBS or homeowners for that matter) to its failing family you can expect to see people continue to jump ship just like our own US banks were betting against America before the housing bust. After that happens the new subprime additions that received adjustable rate mortgages will default on their loans as it was clear all along that they were overvalued and never AAA quality. This will in turn require them to return to the Southland and into a deep recession. I imagine T.state or UTA's president (or whoever is now involved in this diluted conference) will gather its university and convince they must spend more to fix the problem and to get back to their ever short glory days in the WAC. Recent history shows this won't work and they'll end up worse than where they were most likely causing them to play D3 football for many years.

  36. Could not agree with you more. I dont know why everyone thinks this team/ wide receivers will be in shambles because we lost a wide receiver with a 500 yards season. He is NOT dunbar, he a punk kid who thinks everything should be handed to him. He tells the whole team that he will be a leader, and move on from his old lifestyle. Then two months later he gets kicked off the team. Macs showing the team its about your character and life skills after football. Football wont be there forever, and maybe 1 person might make it on a NFL training camp roster.

  41. Understood, however DNA is not the great ultimate evidence that everyone thinks it is. There are other ways to prove guilt. All of the cases where people are now being found not guilty due to DNA evidence were not sentenced to death. There is a big reason why people sit on death row for 17 years. It's to ensure the proper person is on death row, and to exhaust ALL appeals.

  42. ---He got what he deserved... He had even spent most of his life in the USA, not Mexico. He only claimed to be Mexican when he thought it might help him. ---As for the death penalty, I support it when it is certain that the person committed the crime, but not when there is any doubt they did it. Project Innocence has demonstrated that several people have been convicted that had nothing to do with the crime they were accused of. DNA results released them much later (a few had died or a very few had been executed). ---Knox... There is a lot of doubt that she is guilty, and recent news seem to show a lot of "evidence" is very flawed.

  43. ---And add to it... Texas is dead last ( 50th) in state taxes per capita... and we are cutting education funding to shreds. At the same time we have Tea-party Texans who want it lowered even more...

  45. My opinion "Can't trust many of them". ---Most seem to be all about doing what is best for them or their political party.... not what is best for the country or state or their citizens.. -- I hate to pay my electric bill... but I have to pay it if I want to stay cool, have lights, etc. The same with taxes... I hate taxes ... but if I want good services, they have to be paid. Did the tax cuts back in 2002? help the economy... nope... it is far worse than in 1999. when both the state and federal gov. had surpluses and employment was good. ---Congress needs to cut spending and restore tax rates to where before 2001 except for those below average in income.. Not the popular thing to do but the debt is getting out of control. ---Sorta of the same in Texas... We have a great economy most places but a big budget problem due to giving away to many cuts to business ( not to common citizens, note sales tax, gasoline tax, etc. ) Most need to restored to previous levels... again not popular. It does not make sense the have the best economy in America and one of the worse budget problems. I can't see how putting 1000's of educators out of work is helping anything... that and cutting a lot of needed services such as aid to the mentally and physically impaired. We had a $6 billion surplus in 1999.... and now we have a huge problem.
