Besides myself and LAZER, 6 in my group NEVER attended a UNT football game while going there. We're definitely going to have a record breaking attendance year.4 points

After reading much criticism surrounding our season ticket sales efforts, I thought I'd provide some assurance that we have some people in the department doing a good job. I joined the Facebook event group for the first game at the new stadium I suggest you 'attend" as well , and posted that I would be buying 8 season tickets this coming week. Soon after posting I received a message from an Elizabeth Laupus, a ticket sales rep in the dept. I assume she had clicked on my profile and saw I was a recent grad, so she made sure I knew about the recent grad program. After I replied telling her I was aware, she then pitched the Mean Green Club to me and made me aware of a new MGC program for recent grads. "The MGC parking passes will be at Victory Hall by the stadium. We have a progressive plan for new graduates. If you graduated in: 2011 - $25 2010 - $50 2009 - $75 2008 - $100 2007 - $150 You will progressively move up the ladder each year until you are no longer a "Young Alumni" and would move into the $250 MGC plan. " I was not aware of this and will definitely be joining, well worth my $50 (2010 grad). Hopefully this will encourage more recent grads to buy in. There are currently 3,721 people attending this event on Facebook, I'm sure I am not the only one that has been sold on the MGC or season tickets as a result.3 points

Yes. I too joined the Young Alum program for thy very reason. Glad I asked when I picked my seats. Heck of a deal, and I got better seats than I thought I could have afforded.1 point

I would not consider Mitchell a "Go to" guy. His game is similar to a Shawn Marion than a Dirk Nowitzki. Opponents can't/shouldn't go into a game planning to stop him. An effective game for him could be 12 boards, 12 points, 5 assists and 5 blocks. He'll be all over the place. Very unselfish, great passer, relentless on the boards and would be the most dominate shot blocker ever to suit up for the Mean Green; if he stayed down low. So sure, he can play the five (out of necessity) and be the best center on the team. Playing center, however, will limit his overall game. Should join Shawnson Johnson on the All-Time 1-Semester team. As stated previously, he's not NBA ready. But, who are these days? Let's go with a late June 2011 rotation of: * Hogans, Edwards & Mitchell at the center position * Mitchell, Robinson, Juco guy at the 4 * Franklin, Mitchell, Williams, Holeman at small forward * A. Williams, Walton at Shooting guard * Jones, Norris, Alzee at point.1 point

I believe (don't quote me) it is section 209, row 4 1-4 and row 5 1-4. I think that will be a nice setup for our crew. So I arrived at my time to greet Mr. RV at the door to the AC by coincidence with my two boys and he tells me to see him after I get my tickets. I picked them up and then RV gives out some goodies (I won't give it away, because we are VIPs, not everyone gets these kind of hand outs) . I then (oops ) happen to walk the wrong way down a hall and meet who else but Coach McCarney talking to someone on a cell phone. He greeted us and thanked us for our loyalty and said be ready for September. I took a ton of pictures of the stadium but haven't had time to upload yet, so stay tuned for that. The AC is really a happening place now and the staff seems very busy so I take that as a good sign.1 point

I still believe that the Rice game in Houston was the low point for our alma mater since being back at the FBS level. There is just no way of trying to explain how little ol' Rice could beat our football so badly. The scariest part about that game was that they SHOULD have scored 100 points that day. They basically took the 4th quarter off. If Texas, OU, LSU, Alabama, etc. beat us like that, then you can easily chalk that up to their resources, status, and talent, all while enjoying a nice check. That Rice game basically told every HS coach in Texas that Todd Dodge was not going to ever make it as a successful college coach. As I said in another thread, Thank God for Western Kentucky being in the SBC.1 point

---The current administration's policy of removing federal regulations on business and Wall Steet has really worked out well hasn't it. ---Personally I don't trust those guys (financial and business execs.) when money is involved and they personally can get more of it... especially at the cost of the investors and tax-payers. I think you listen to Rush too much or at least believe all the BS those type of guys put out. What is truth is and what they claim it is, is not the same at all.1 point

---Good story. Personally I have been amazed at how many times I have made contact with an ex-student in my personal life and things were made much easier because of his opinion of me. I always imagined I would be lying on the side of the road after a car accident and a student that hated me would come along and just leave me there. The odd thing was that a former student of mine actually was an ambalence driver that picked-up my mom who lived over 200 miles away. I have a rare last name and he figured it out. You never know what your actions will bring. Another involved a disputed insurance claim that I was told forget it, she would take care of it...she did.1 point

In some ways it's "easier" to sell the dream of football (UTSA, USA, Charlotte). No history of a team means no memories of losing, only pipe dreams about being able to cheer their school and alma matter on in a college football environment. I don't blame some recent UNT alumni who attended when I did, getting to see/hear about our team being pummeled in our dilapidated facilities under Dodge Ball. I think the new stadium and new coach has created this dream for us again and will get many involved again. I think there are a lot sitting on the fence, if we win-they'll be quick to buy-in.0 points

If I want to marry some random woman I met for the sake of tax purposes who I'm totally cheating on already, more power to me. As long as I'm not a gay man destroying the sanctity of marriage, right?0 points

I liked how Marshall Faulk vanished for long stretches, then emerged to take shots at Jason Garrett, and then vanished again. I really wish more announcers were passive-aggressive - it spices up bad football.-1 points

To be fair, the Redskins are still mathematically alive if the Bucs, Eagles, Cowboys, and JUST one of the Bears/Vikings tandem fly out of Denver on a Continental flight. As for me, give me a Broncos/Falcons Super Bowl baby! The last time those teams met it killed my grandfather during the game, but the joke is now on them, because I don't have grandfathers anymore. Also, I hate the Super Bowl.-1 points

My bad - I'll try to fact check my hypothetical posts about Marshall level tragedies more in the future.-1 points

I thought you were talking about this sadly retired Broncos Fan kid before I realized that was Andy Milonakis. Uhh, you don't seem to be very good with examples or analogies. Either that, or you didn't read the story completely. If I was shilling for the environmentalist and/or the Obama administration, I would be saying (Punditing?) that Oil is a total failure as a viable fuel for mass transportation...without providing any competent information to back my statement....much like the pundits who are probably shilling for the oil company.....and they had no earthly idea what they were talking about. Business 101 Mark, who benefits the most if the Volt fails? 90, I don't need to shill for Ed Wallace. He gets paid the same if 1000 people read his op-ed or 1 million.-1 points

--On the board of directors and on Enron audit committee was Wendy Gramm. Phil Gramm (husband) then pulled out of his re-election race and they left the state. ---As for the Volt or electric cars.... they may work ok if a person only drives short distances and lives in a large city...terrible if you need to drive long distances...or live in sparse area... can't recharge quickly.... also remember there are environmental electric generation concerns as well..... My last concern... they have batteries.. how long do they last and what happens to them when they get old. Looks like that is trading one problem for a bunch more.-1 points
-
The batteries are recyclable and with the volt, it's guaranteed for 100,000 miles. A Volt will take anyone living in the city (or the suburbs) on their average commute of 21 miles each way on just battery power. For those living out in West Texas, it has a small gas generator that powers the electric motor for extended drives. The Nissan Leaf has a stated range of 100 miles on a full charge. Both fully recharge in 8 hours on 120 and 4 hours on 220. This might not be too exciting for some people, but it's a really great start. With the technology improving on wind chargers, an affordable home wind charging unit (or solar panel unit) to use primarily on your electric car might be available in the near future.-1 points

---I wasn't the one that first mentioned Enron and the fact the CEO was wasn't punished.... neither were several others who should have known what was going on.. A lot of retired oil/gas people in West Texas lost their pensions and their company paid health insurance because of them. Some who had never worked a day at Enron but for companies Enron acquired. Also mentioned rolling blackouts Enron may have caused (I don't know). But I do know one of my son's company has a presense in Japan and rolling blackout is driving them nuts because in manufactoring (not just homes) because ovens baking semiconductors need a comstant sourse of power. Rolling backouts cause severe problems..however Japan just can't do better with those nuke generators gone. ---Without a good or reliable sourse of electric power, these cars become a problem. Easier to put gas in a tank than wait for hours to recharge. Long trips would be near impossible... Someone mentioned the batteries will last 100,000 miles..... ok .. then what do you do with them and how could so many be disposed off safely.?? ... Plus replacing them is no cheap deal either and I doubt recharging a car would be either. It take oil/gas/nukes to generate the electricity to recharge them or at least most of it. Every change of energy form results in some loss (basic physics) I don't see how you come out ahead.-1 points

So your saying the government has given a 5 star rating to it's own product? Shocking. If people want to spend their money on this product, more power to them. Personally, I'm out.-1 points

Hopefully, these type of humiliations will cease now that we have real coaches on board. I haven't been back to Fouts since the Tulsa game...neither have my guest I brought...I decided never to go back to Fouts...had my full of that place. Now that we have a change in the admin, stadium and coaches....things will be brighter for sure. Went to the Rice game in Houston and it was pathetic...TD should have been fired after the game.-1 points

It's not about those who will stop down and watch our TV games. The purpose is to get our name to those who would never watch a game. It's for exactly this reason. This and highlight packages.-1 points
