  1. I don't see 3-9. Last year we barely lost multiple games with our entire team banged up. Look for Mac to close these games out with a W in 2011! I liked TFLF's prediction. Plus or minus one win due to our inexperience on some parts of the o and d.

  2. I guess that one loss for Houston comes on Sept. 10th. GO MEAN GREEN! No way UNT goes 3-9. Much better record for the Mean Green this year! Why Not North Texas!!!!!

  3. I hope not! How are they going to fit on anyones head?!? We're gonna need them to be at least 3 times that big.

  5. I usually agree with Vito on most topics, but I think he's dead wrong on his 3-9 prediction. I haven't read his reasons for the pick in awhile, but I seem to recall that he thinks the loss of a few starters on the o-line, lack of seasoned QB and no Craig Robertson will be too much to overcome. Yes, Derek doesn't have a lot of playing time under his belt, but I think he's shown enough to make us believe he can be a successful QB in the Sun Belt. We did lose some starters from the o-line, but since there were so many injuries everyone starting this year got quality playing time. With the coaching staff we have in place I'm positive we'll win more than 3 games.

  8. I agree with you. That is why I feel it is important that we reach out to other communities as well as DFW. If we target the areas of Gainsville, Decatur, and McKinney we will reach a population less likely to attend sporting events in Dallas. For these communities, North Texas athletics are the only game in town, when it comes to major NCAA athletics. We have large alumni bases in these communities, and many of their high school students will attend UNT. Making these communities fans of North Texas and it's athletic programs should be a high priority. If we gain substantial support from these populations, I believe our large alumni base in DFW will increase their support and involvement in North Texas. When colleges have sellout games they don't care where the fans came from. The Dallas news stations will report on a sellout game, and they won't care what direction the fans drove in from. Sellouts get the attention of everyone.

  9. If we're going to judge the previous two regimes on class or character let's keep in mind the fact that 10 to 12 of Dickeys' players just returned in the blistering heat to participate and pay tribute to one of their fallen brothers. 8 years later, without any attention drawn to it through media hype ect. And many have been doing it for years and many have pledged to continue. To me this is as solid of a representation of character that anyone here could ever ask of their team And regardless if anyone wants to give him credit for it or not, they had this quality of character they showed last week at the GMG.comm bowl instilled in them from their coach. 10. Agree. And I would like to add that it probably wasn't Todd Dodge who sought the NT job. I suspect he was approached and courted. It was the people that sought him out and allowed him to bring all his HS coaching cronies with him that I mostly blame for the Dodge/NT debacle. Things would have been much different if only one thing had happened after Dodge was hired....retaining the DC and all his staff.

  16. Wow. So much misinformation here, I don't know where to begin. I'll just wait for your excuses as both inflation and interest rates continue their inevitable climb due in large part to Pres. Obama's policies. As to 7, 6, 5, 4 above: PROVE IT. And I thought the oil prices were high under Bush because he just wanted his oil buddies to get rich. Looks like Pres. Obama has the same friends, no?

  20. You're talking about national recognition and we don't even have a brand in Lewisville yet. The problem with putting "North Texas" as your logo, especially locally, is it doesn't resonate with people. Everything here is "North Texas", so your message gets lost. If you have a single recognizable logo, then you can start putting it up locally against the longhorn, BU, TT, pony, and horned frog. If no one has ever seen your logo on helmets, uniforms, basketball highlights, or football highlights, then it's hard to sell merchandise with it. So now you have all these people running around locally wearing the logos they've seen, and not ours because no one knows what our logo is. So then your brand is smaller, makes marketing harder, and fewer and fewer people are aware of your existence. It's a vicious cycle that our AD seems to be unaware of. Marketing nationally is putting the cart before the horse.

  22. I think having "North Texas" on the helmet makes perfect sense for the time being. As much as some, including myself, would like to only have the eagle or some other symbol on the helmet...the fact of the matter is that not many people from around the country know who we are. We don't have the name recognition right now that the likes of UT, Alabama, Auburn, and Oregon have. Whenever people watch a televised game of North Texas and see "North Texas" on the helmet, there is no question as to who we are. Having "North Texas" on the helmet will also help end the confusion of "NTSU" and all of those other names that individuals on this board get so mad about when an announcer refers to us as. Overall, I think this makes sense for our current situation. 5-10 years from now may be another story if things go well...but right now I think it makes sense.

  23. I really think you need to look up the definition of socialism. Then get back with us. Oh, what the hell, I'll do it for you : 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. 2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory. 3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. I'm guessing you are going with #3?

  26. One item/question - The Bama and Florida game is basically a semifinal, so the SEC winner will get in pretty much regardless, right? The chaos can only come from one side. I really wish they could just replace Mizzou with OU and let them play Texas one last time.
    -1 points
  27. True - I'm basically going on precedent from the Florida/FSU and Michigan/Ohio State game a few years ago, but in that case, they had both just played each other. I think most people will get in line with any kind of Gator win and tell us how good SEC defenses are (which to be fair, Bama's is pretty freaking good.) I don't think style points matter in this game, but you are right, way stranger things have happened.

  28. http://jvbowl.com/ Also, there are rumors that Will Muschamp is working with Mizzou to help their defense and Colt and Chase are having one hour conversations about the Sooners together. Good times. God bless the BCS. Also, if the Big 12 championship is the JV bowl, where does Tech get to play?

  29. Honestly, the concept and my use of it beats my ass and I am forced to use it for work since its the new (to some anyway) hip, social networking trend for media and marketers alike. After following about a combination of 60 or so friends, businesses and amusing fake profiles (the fake michael bay is greatness), I cannot figure out the point at all. Anyone have any perspective or want to convince that this is not utterly pointless?

  31. Rasmussen would find a way to make a poll that says 99% of kids hate ice cream. I'm not in denial that a lot of people don't like the health care law, in fact I've seen plenty of polls that swing one way or the other: 52% against, 54% for, 41% for/25% unsure, ect. ect. I just wouldn't trust any poll that Rasmussen puts out. They've been consistently wrong time and time again.

  37. I hate to interrupt your Obama bashing party but thought I would inject a few rational counterpoints. 1. We will only default if we do not raise the debt ceiling just like we would have defaulted if we did not raise the debt ceiling each of the last ten years. 2. Yes we still have to much debt but again I say we have raised the debt ceiling each of the last ten years. Where was your anger then? 3. Yes gas prices are too high but for the sake of accurate reporting they were higher under Bush only to be brought down by the great recession. Whats more is that if you factor in all energy prices and not just gasoline, prices are still much lower than their peak under Bush. 4. Growing third world economies are driving this bus. 5. See #4 growing third world economies drive up the prices of commodities thus driving up the price of consumer goods. 6. It sucks but without putting too much lipstick on this pig let me point out a stat of interest. Unemployment among college grads is 4.5% and even lower for those with more than a bachelors. Good quality blue collar jobs in this country have been lost to cheaper labor in places like china and India. That is not a recent phenomenon and those jobs are not coming back nor should they. The new American economy is evolving to what is titled a Knowledge Economy. What I find troublesome is that far too many Americans seem to have not got the memo as we have too few Americans with college degrees and even fewer still with specialized degrees. 7. Utility prices were higher under Bush
