I don't know how you reconcile all this, but I have been a season ticket holder and mean green club member since I graduated in 94. I bought 4 club seats in the new stadium in green. I tailgate almost every week with friends, family, father in law, etc. I have never had a problem parking, locating my friends, setting up tailgating together, getting my seatbacks in, getting my parking pass, etc, etc. We bring in an RV at least once a season, I call and pay my money and no issues. For homecoming for about the past 4 years, I rent a tent through Athletics with tables, chairs, electric, etc. No issues. I dealt with Mandy Mckinley frequently, no issues. Not too long ago, we didn't have a soccer stadium, softball stadium, new football stadium, tennis complex, etc. Its wierd that a few people have such a different experience, I wonder what it could be.4 points

Andrew Johnson and Eric Gray, two of the original Green Guys work for EA. Andrew's not in development, but rather in video production. He puts together a lot of the demo videos you see...so being a North Texas grad he tries to give the Mean Green all the pub he can. The new stadium will not be in the final version of this year's game. I was devistated by this news...but Drew said the developers need to get a full compliment of media (pictures and video) of the stadium on gameday in order to build an accurate model that they won't have to change a bunch next year. (My counter was that if say, Georgia got a new football stadium they would have a model of it the first year.) By the way, he's told me that the developers are very excited about this year's version of NCAA. Happy gaming!4 points

It would be great if Andrew and/or Eric could influence them to get the UNT fight song integrated.2 points

Agreed...I think it's time to put Mr. Mitchell's grades issue to rest. From what I've read on the board Tony has a 3.5 GPA after 15 hrs. If this is the case Mr. Mitchell, should and has been congratulated for making his grades and we should move on. If anything we should congratulate JJ and his staff for going after and working with Mr. Mitchell when the time was right. It's been a long to since (sp./gr.) I've been this excited about a UNT athletic program. Who would have thought UNT would be in the blessed position we are 10 or 11 yrs. ago when Coach Jones was hired. Here's to other coaches within the UNT family following in JJ's footsteps!!! I haven't been to the Pit in along time to watch basketball. Even though that situation has been about very limited finances I'll be at the Pit this year. Bank it!!!2 points

They are just not going to get it, buddy. See #6 above. Regardless of rational thought, some folks will simply just not get it.2 points

I hate to interrupt your Obama bashing party but thought I would inject a few rational counterpoints. 1. We will only default if we do not raise the debt ceiling just like we would have defaulted if we did not raise the debt ceiling each of the last ten years. 2. Yes we still have to much debt but again I say we have raised the debt ceiling each of the last ten years. Where was your anger then? 3. Yes gas prices are too high but for the sake of accurate reporting they were higher under Bush only to be brought down by the great recession. Whats more is that if you factor in all energy prices and not just gasoline, prices are still much lower than their peak under Bush. 4. Growing third world economies are driving this bus. 5. See #4 growing third world economies drive up the prices of commodities thus driving up the price of consumer goods. 6. It sucks but without putting too much lipstick on this pig let me point out a stat of interest. Unemployment among college grads is 4.5% and even lower for those with more than a bachelors. Good quality blue collar jobs in this country have been lost to cheaper labor in places like china and India. That is not a recent phenomenon and those jobs are not coming back nor should they. The new American economy is evolving to what is titled a Knowledge Economy. What I find troublesome is that far too many Americans seem to have not got the memo as we have too few Americans with college degrees and even fewer still with specialized degrees. 7. Utility prices were higher under Bush2 points

If a zero or low value is placed on life, then by all means this is a horrible deal. Pretty funny that republicans (I'm independent for the record) cry wolf when clean-air initiatives such as wind turbines kill birds, but when clean air acts are proposed that would save human life that they are rejected to save corporate profits and jobs. "Cutting ozone pollution using the Clean Air Act will have saved $2 trillion by 2020 and prevented at least 230,000 deaths annually, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said in a report. Tougher emission restrictions adopted in 1990 helped avoid more than 160,000 premature deaths, 130,000 heart attacks, 13 million lost work days and 1.7 million asthma attacks last year, according to today'sreport, which measured only the impact of amendments from 1990. By 2020, complying with the amendments would prevent 200,000 heart attacks, 17 million lost work days and 2.4 million asthma attacks, according to the report."2 points

Not really related to the original subject here, but I feel like the East Side Lot of Victory Hall is going to be where it's all happening? I was told that with the addition of the new parking lot going in there that we will actually have MORE parking spaces available than we had at Fouts. Considering we couldn't even find a space to park, or even one near the gate to simply unload our tents last saturday for the GMG.com Bowl because of High School graduations, I think we will appreciate the new spaces available. Then, on top of that, if you get there before an hour and a half prior to kick off you can park on the east side where ever you want without the parking nazi's running you down and disrupting your experience. But, if there ever comes a time in which folks who are willing to do so, purchase their own places(Like TCU Does), then I can't understand why we wouldn't want to take advantage of it. Maybe after TXDOT finishes the widening of I-35E this will become available? Rick1 point

The Alumni Pavilion will be a great spot to meet and greet before the games. It is rumored to be opening three (3) hours before game time, and should turn into a great pre-game meet up and party spot. It is not meant to replace tailgating in the more traditional way, just to augment the game day experience for members of the UNT Alumni Association and their guests. Should be great...hope to see you there before the games. I think all the tailgating issues will sort themselves out given a bit of time with the new stadium and all the learning curves that will take place both by the administration and the fans. We do need to relaize that not everythuing will be 100% come day one on Sept. 10th. Everyone may want to take a bit of a step back, take a deep breath and not be overly quick to criticize or praise until the opening "bugs" are worked out. Everyone will learn from each game day experience and soon all will be "normal" come game days for the Mean Green nation. Until then, try to relax, try to enjoy the fact that the Mean Green have a great new stadium and have a great time with a brand new game day experience or two or three. Heck, since 1966 I have been going to Fouts for games and certainly "know" my way around with game day routines. ALL that changes on September 10th. It will be new for everyone. Try to relax and enjoy the experience...it's all new! GO MEAN GREEN! GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

After seeing what the efforts of just a few volunteers here were able to accomplish I would like to see this event grow to where we are eventually bringing in some major funding for this scholarship. This would be a great oportunity for the fund raising arm of the Athletic Department(Mean Green Club) to make a huge leap forward. It should coincide with the Spring Game and could truly turn into something amazing. Who wouldnt love to see Scott Davis or Mitch Maher and Johnny Quinn take on Scott Hall and Troy Redwine etc...? I believe Texas Tech has something similar each year and had an estimated crowd of nearly 20,000 show up one year. Now with the new facilities it would be an easy sell to get some of the past greats and new Lettermen to participate for a noble cause each year, and the fans would love it. Rick1 point

Justifying 9% unemployment? A number that doesn't even include those that have stopped trying to find employment? You are right. I simply don't get it. Funny thing is, all of these arguments could have been use to support the Bush administration (even though every single one of them would have been invalid). Political cheerleading at it's finest.1 point

OK, so I get home after the game and discover that Pierce Reid (who provided the great golf packages for the silent auction...thank you Pierce) had brought a couple of new packages that i was not aware of so i didn't bother to look inside the envelope with the other certificates. UGH! As a result, I have three great golf packages that were not bid on...so, why not put them on here for a couple of days and see if we can't generate some additional funds for the scholarship... we have; 1) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Las Colinas Country Club (Irving, TX)- good through 12/30/11 2) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Stonebridge CC - The Hills Course (McKinney, TX) - good through 12/30/11, and 3) ROUND OF GOLF FOR 4 (cart fee required) at Timarron CC - Southlake, TX - good through 12/30/11. OK folks, can we get some bids going for the Andrew Smith memorial Scholarship Fund? Ladies...Father's Day is around the corner...this would make a great Father's day gift for a golfing husband...KIDS...are you listening? Don't forget Dad...if he likes to play golf this can be a great deal. You can bid here...just name the item you are bidding on and your bid...or you can PM (private message) me with a bid if you prefer not to bid here "in public". I will leave the bidding open until NOON on THURSDAY, JUNE 16th (that's this week)....can we do this and get a bit more in the scholarship fund? Sure hope so...OPENING MINIMUM $15.00. Raise minimum $3.00. Let's get it on... Thanks.0 points

Oil-giant Venezuela tries to limit energy use See, this is what we need to do, destroy and bring down those bastard oil companies and just live with the rolling blackouts as the rationing heats up. Won't August in Texas be fun without air conditioning? Who do you think will suffer the most when that happens? The sick and elderly, that's who. But AARP and the libs continue to blame the conservatives with the Mediscare rhetoric. Ah yeah, lets hear it for the SOCIALIST way! Rick0 points

Yeah I suppose I'll trust the people that did the calculations too and presented their findings to the committee. Once presented he was removed from the committee because his findings did not make the committee feel rosy inside about their windmills anymore. The addition of the turbines is to bring us closer to LEED Platinum. Without the turbines it would be near impossible since renewable energy sources translate into mega points on the LEED scale.-1 points

Hay Silver, I used to bring all my stuff to tailgate and to party several hrs prior to the game, my thinking was to get some of us together to get a place to meet every Sat so we would know where to meet for those driving into town (ie. that's why I gave good money to buy that BBQ pit). Like anyone, I like to have homes away from homes ( ie. I bring things to the tailgate from far away places like San Antonio)[like I've counted the # of spaces needed for the club&boxes and there will be much less parking than you think that hasn't been addressed by the A Adm. So your right, I never should gotten into this since it really doesn't affect me. Secondly what the heck is the matter with the ath dept getting some more money while giving us some continuity in our Saturday afternoon's- the thing that is really obvious is most of you don't get it ( & never will- Think obama)I did it for you guys. I was wrong. I can buy a space but don't need it since we'll be in the club 2 hrs prior to the game. Game changed guys! BUT I'd rather be BSing with u guys, so see ya in the club or back at Fout's field after the game tailgating. God bless silver-1 points

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43269525/ns/business-going_green/ The EPA states, "....would cost (coal) industry nearly $11 BILLION "A YEAR" in estimated compliance expenditures." You know if these are government figures the actual figues will be much higher. This is JUST part of the new forced costs that the EPA is getting ready to place on coal companies.......there will be regulations for lead, arsenic and acid gases that have not yet been released that will cost the coal companies additional monies. Who will pay for this moderization? *****Some coal fired plants will be forces to shut down....loss of jobs. *****Others will be forced to pass the HIGHER utility costs to the consumer in "much higher utility costs." This administration has brought us: *****to the point of our government defaulting on "interest payments." *****over $14 Trillion debt ceiling. *****high gas prices. *****escalating food prices. *****escalating consumer goods. *****depression like unemployment. *****and now the begining of higher utility costs. _____________________________ The place for Non-UNT sports, politics, and general discussion and debate.
