Posting on another teams or conferences' board is just asking for negative comments. Does anyone really think the majority of another school's fans are going to laud NT's new stadium or any other part of the program Every non-AQ conference is filled with poor programs that are just barely hanging on and bringing up NT with it's recent lack of football success just gives them an easy target. No matter what NT's other sports do or what the status of facilities are, they are going to gleefully bring up the recent football record. It is just too easy, of course if NT had a stellar football recent record, they would find something else but it would at least be more difficult for them to disparage the University. NT is doing a lot of things right for the first time ever, maybe it is time to let the program develop and do the major talking. Posting on another site is not going to make any difference one way or the other about how things eventually shake out, but don't expect a warm welcome.2 points

Hey everyone, I'm new to this board and I have a lot to share. Cam Feldt is a 4 star transfer OT from the University of Arkansas, he is a Texas native. He was voted one of the top 50 freshmen in the SEC last season. Due to personal reasons he has transferred and will play ball for UNT. This kid is an outstanding player and the Eagles are lucky to have him! I attended the University of Arkansas for 3 years and then moved home to Dallas and transferred to UNT so I am a huge Hog fan and now a Mean Green fan. I look forward to posting more. Here is Cam Feldts rivals profile from 2010. Go Green http://rivals.yahoo.com/arkansas/football/recruiting/player-Cam-Feldt-84716;_ylt=ApbLxUtzFvA2sqTRSS4ppkXzq5B42 points

Jones had the play of the day Tuesday at the rec. Crossed a dude and threw down hard in traffic. It was nasty.2 points

To be honest, that whole thread is about as douchebaggy as any thread here when talk of UT San Antonio joining the Sun Belt arises. You simply can't blame any outsiders for their current views of UNT football as it has proven absolutely awful over the past several years. Win a few games, and you'll see those douche bag attitudes on other boards change. As for the winged endzone, should I go look up the old threads here about how much people hated the idea? Of course, now that it's built and it's "ours," it's innovative and unique. When I drive by it, I do think it looks interesting. I don't think it translates well in construction photos. Bottom line: Those guys are gonna talk the talk until UNT football can walk the walk and start winning some games against them. Step 1: Win Sun Belt games Step 2: Win an OOC game or two Step 3: ???? Step 4: Profit2 points

Why do UNT fans insist on going over to other forums and posting stadium pics and saying how UNT would be a great expansion member? I don't understand it. It's embarrassing and then they get into arguments with the other posters about how many ponds it has and where the grass is, etc. Not a good idea.2 points

My suggestion to the athletic administration -rv- was to number all the spots near the green belt for tailgating & then sell the rights for the season to the same spots for us EX's. RV & the nt police dept were against it for the same thinking that we have used in the past to hire HS football coaches & other bad decisions. Are u ready for this. The police & rv do not want ex's backing into these spaces and HOUR AND A HALF PRIOR TO THE GAME to tailgate while people are arriving through that lot just prior to the KO> That's straight from the dept. I need your help. If you like the idea, we need to explain to the dept that at that time we are probably breaking it down to go into the stadium.Tailgating happens for several hours prior to that time most of us know. For us my thought is that Ex's get together & pool their money & get spaces close to the stadium next to the green belt for all of our convience like we had at ff. Evidently they don't need our help in making it easy for us to be together prior to the game! Thoughts..........1 point

One thing not mentioned about the size is how close the scoreboard is to the stands. Some of those others may be larger but are farther away from the people. It will look bigger because you are closer to it. At least that's what I tell my wife. Wait, What?1 point

Please tell me how being LEED certified is going to help our stadium beat more football teams. Aside from being a point of pride for students and alumns of The University of North Texas, the new stadium doesn't mean anything if we don't win it. The students and alumns from other schools could care less if the score doesn't change. I hope that we all didn't just get better sight-lines to a 7th season in a row of terrible football.1 point

With the addition of the new parking lot next to the athletic dorm parking lot, there will be double the spaces available for tailgating. I've been to the site and honestly, I think there will be more then enough spots against the green belt for anyone who wants one. I'm fine with RV's plan. I think he has a better understanding of how it will work then we do right now. If it is a problem, then we could always revisit this topic next offseason.1 point

DPS would only allow an entrance off of the service road into the lot if UNT agreed not to number the spots. DPS was concerned about traffic backing up on the service road as people entered the lot and waited to get to their particular spot. I was told you will be able to park anywhere you want in the lot up to 1 1/2 hours before the game. After that, it will be festival style parking. Must admit, not really following how this is related to past coaching hires.1 point

The Geezles were a fraternity that was quite strong until the late 60's or so. That's about all I know, but I'm sure there is someone on the board who can fill us in.1 point

It is true that we do not have the strongest fan base. But, New Mexico is the team of New Mexico while we are not even close to the top in our state. The fact that we draw evenly with them considering how bad we are/have been isn't too bad. Kinda apples to oranges, especially considering the difference in conference prestige too.1 point

I don't get it either. If anything it makes our image worse by having posters try and downplay BSU's success because of their stadium. I would much rather win than have a nicer stadium but the poster on the thread is making it seem like a nicer stadium is more important. poor argument1 point

I think he was half joking, but the place is still the ugliest building on campus along with the GAB, Willis Library, and the Super Pit. I honestly can't wait until they tear down Fouts.1 point

Dude...that is disrespectful as hell. You should be ashamed...there is a lot of history at Fouts, and it has served us well for years...1 point

Seems like a really good guy, but you want a coach who understands the college game. Scholarship limitations, different bats, different strategies, 3-man rotation, dealing with shallow bullpens, etc. Would you want, say, Don Nelson navigating the pitfalls of Sunbelt basketball and NCAA ban hammers that target mid-majors at UNT? Edit: Trying to go with former major leaguers in college baseball has, historically, proven disastrous. Two that immediately come to mind are the debacle that was Chad Kreuter at USC and the endlessly inflatable Tony Gwynn at San Diego St.1 point

This summer I'm interning with the Grand Prairie Airhogs who play in the American Association of Independent Baseball. The Ft. Worth Cats are also in the league. Anways, our head ticket guy told me today that one of the teams, which I'm pretty sure is the Shreveport-Bossier Captains might go under and the league is looking for a new team to replace them. I was told that the league is looking at Denton and would try to build a new stadium in conjunction with UNT. I have no idea how legit any of this is, but it's something to keep an eye on.1 point

Don't think there is any coal mining or drilling going on less than 1/4 of a mile from the new Mean Green Stadium... But, GMG...1 point

Does anyone know on which side of the stadium these things will be located? Really kicking myself for not asking this question in reference to picking a parking lot.1 point

Where have I heard that before...oh yeah it went something like this. "If it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it."1 point

The politics are what they are. What I worry about is noise, birds, malfunctions, etc... I would guess that all of this has been researched thoroughly, but don't act like there should be absolutely no concerns about these things.1 point

I really hope that all of the adverse consequences of this placement have been taken into consideration. And yes, this is a waste of taxpayer money.1 point

Skiver: 1.) I have never seen a person get more self-pwned on this website than you have in this thread. 2.) Learn when to just say, "Oops, I was wrong." 3.) Are you related to unt_playmaker? That is all.1 point

Dear God, please not this. We all saw what happens to a good, but shallow teams last season.1 point

1) Maybe it is the same reason there are supposed be almost 100,000 alumni in the DFW area and only a tiny fraction of a percent come to home games? As to what that actual reason is I don't know. 2) Doesn't bother us at all. We still go to the games, or make sure our tickets are used if we are out of town. I don't mind the occasional cupcake as it usually allows some of our lesser players and walk-ons to get in a game and the cheers for them when they score are usually pretty big. Those guys work their tails off all year and games like that are usually their only reward. As for this coming season, I think we will need to have several games against poor competition to allow this team to make mistakes and still gel before conference season. UNT men’s BB is an amazing value and I can’t fathom why more locals and alumni do not attend games. Students get in “free” with their ID which makes the value even better.1 point

I cant believe that a SDSU fan was talking smack about our stadium. News flash for Aztec fans: Once you stop paying rent to play your games in somebody else's outdated, off campus, NFL stadium....THEN you can start talking about other school's. Until then STFU0 points

Yeah, all the shills for the various power industries are going to have to work a little harder to find fault with this progressive move by UNT. But I guess making comments about taxpayer money is a good start.-1 points

What's worse? $2M grant for a new technology that may be beneficial and will provide valuable research for the future, or a $2M tax break to industries recording record profits? If one is a waste of taxpayer monies, so is the other. And let's not act like coal mining and drilling don't have any negative impacts on the enironment, aren't loud and don't take away valuable wilderness.-1 points
