Our Eagle was rated 4* by Scout. Of course, since it's an eagle on UNT's field, Rivals only gave it 3*. If it were an eagle on Boston College's field, maybe it would get 4 or 5*. Good news though, Max Emfinger thinks our eagle is a 5*!4 points

The Eagle ... (or at least the eagle template they're using to cut out space for the center field logo) ... is at mid field!3 points

Few football related things piss me off more than people who bandwagon and abandon their own school. I've known several people from UNT who cheer for UT and have no idea what's going on at their school. I obviously don't have an issue with cheering for a second team, especially if there's a reason (geographic, parent's alma mater, etc), but if you follow football at all, you should follow and support your alma mater first.3 points

As a conservative, does this mean I am the newest member of the newest protected class group? And I consider the term conservative offensive due to the history behind the term. I would now like to be called fiscal concerned and value-based party member.2 points

We are in NO position to have such finicky tastes when it comes to opponents. Perhaps if we had an unlimited budget, an established pedigree, etc we could be so picky. As it stands we have precious few things that we, without any outside influence, can control. We can't control who will/won't agree to come to our house (ever stop to think these "quality opponents" don't want to come to the pit because of the job we've done dispatching the few Big XII teams that have come here? No?). We can't control where blue chip players choose to sign...or can we? I wonder, do packed houses attract these kinds of players? We can't control our conference affiliation and the "crappy Sun Belt teams"....or can we? I wonder, would other conferences take home attendance into account? Seems to me that I was right on the money...not two posts after I spelled it out explicitly someone comes along to prove my point...we just don't know what to do with a good thing.2 points

Just how big is the Eagle? Does anyone have the measurements? I hope it's a least the 3rd biggest logo on a field in the state of texas.1 point

I'm only in Dallas, but I should be working. Only 80 miles round trip. Guess that would make me an 80 out of 100 on the dorkometer. Now, I'm disappointed I'm not a bigger dork.1 point
-
How far would you be driving in from? Every mile equals a point on the dorkometer. The dorkometer does not go above 100. That help?1 point

I'm on my special diet to prepare for the strain of being 42 and running up and down the length of a full football field: -On even numbered days, I go to Whataburger and get the Chicken Honey Mustard Bacon Ranch special -On odd numbered days, I go to Jack In The Box and get the three taco special -Throughout the day, I'm drinking plenty of Pepsi or RC Cola -In the evenings, before bedtime, I have one or two Tecates before hitting the sack1 point

There will be a "guest privilege" for Alumni Association members to bring in a certain number of guests, not an unlimited number. That number has not been determined as yet, but a "temp membership guest fee" will also be available for one time use for those with guests over the allowable number of "free" guest passes. As I understand it, there will be a grace period for the first game where the limits will not apply. The point is to have a place for Alumni Association members and their guests (up to a certain number free) to enjoy pre-game activities, food and drink (for purchase), watch games on big-screen TV's before UNT's kick-off, to relax and to enjoy mixing and mingling with other UNT Alums. Alumni Association membership is very reasonable and with the pavilion opening it makes good economic sense to join the Alumni Association.1 point
-
It is my understanding that the Alumni Pavilion will have beer for sale. Are you an Alumni Assoc. member? If not, I believe membership starts at $35/year. Well worth the cost for Alumni Pavilion entry...big screen TV's, food and drinks prior to the game...big porch area, etc. It's a great value for your membership dollars! GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

Eagle is facing the press box side. That was a topic of debate. Looks to be outlined in our tertiary color of black. Sharp!1 point

I finally got to choose today and I went with the lower section of 205 instead of upper 208. The representative helping me sold me on not worrying about the "shade" factor since the only day games would be the televised one's (indiana on big 10 network at best this season). The entire season ticket side is shaded by 5:00 so all i need to be concerned with is rain. I'm confident that a hat, sunscreen and a poncho will solve all my problems. I even splurged and went for the pricy seatbacks... hopefully that will please the wife. The unt rep really pushed the seats next to the entry corridor walls on the first 3 rows of the upper bowl. I love the aisle seat at basketball games but the thought of never having to stand or shift for someone to pass really intrigued me. We will also be a little closer to the action and the view of the video board should be great. Hopefully I'll have some sitters in the row in front of me. The live cam and our pictures don't seem to be serving this venue justice. Being that close to it for the first time while walking across the terrace, it seems like it will be very intimate yet noise conducive.1 point

Here's what USC received in football (not counting Bush-specific stuff): • A postseason ban in football following the 2010 and 2011 seasons. • A loss of 30 total football scholarships over the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons. • Four years of probation. I predict tOSU will get hit with at least 3 years/no bowl, and at least 30 schollies over 3 years. Probably more. They will probably also get at least 4 years probation. Anything =/> the above constitute a "hammering?"1 point

Fat chance. Even if they were interested, Mac has already said that this is his last stop. On top of that, why would he want to give up building something for the future for babysitting a program that will probably be under sanctions the next 5+ years?1 point

Just a question. Does JJ do enough "off the court" promoting of the program and team to help his own cause in the area of attendance? No value judgement intended or implied in that question, just wanting some other opinions based on what we are all seeing from Coach mac these days. I do not recall ever seeing JJ "out and about" on campus or in the community as I have Coach Mac. Is this something basketball coaches don't do as much as their football counterparts? QUOTE(TheTastyGreek @ Jul 30 2008, 02:54 PM) Stein's article ISN'T STEIN'S ARTICLE. ---That is the major problem in America. some don't think the truth matters... and will say anything to get their way or get elected. One group claims to the party of family values then spreads all sort of mis-representations of their opponents. (most aren't even close to true) ---As for religion in schools... I have been there as a staff member... and the problem is which denominastion you allow make a statement it is almost certain to offend some other group. So who do you allow in ... the group at El Dorado?? they claim to represent Christianity. We have had churches insist their children can't be allowed to go to pep rallys because that is idol worship... Want them there..??.. Maybe you are now seeing the problem. We have a couple of Well Known-Name churches in town here such that one sells beer at their fund raising fall-carnival and the other one just two blocks away is anti-beer and you can't be a deacon if you have been known to drink beer. Which one of those should be allowed in the schools to make a statement... BIG PROBLEMS ... and schools don't need more problems. Careful what you wish for , you might get it. --The Church shooting... The extreme liberals aren't the only guys to worry about.. the right wing crazies are nuts as well.1 point

Reminds me of all that paranoia about losing Dodge after his hire. NT did a great job hiring McCarney, but do you really believe the second richest athletic department in the nation is going to steal a head football coach from N?0 points

I know that this is a UNT message board, but I just listened to my school, already assured a post season bid, throw a no hitter against conference rival Long Beach State. I'm not ashamed to admit that somebody started cutting onions in the room immediately after the final out. I truly hope, regardless of what sport it's in, that the Mean Green nation gets to feel what I'm feeling tonight in the near future. It's a beautiful feeling, and Denton deserves it. Cheers Mean Green!-1 points
