  1. What's the difference between the Seven Years' War and Case Keenum's college football career?

  2. Hopefully No. 8 will be a recap of the beating UNT gave FIU the night before.

  3. Link to Seating Chart as of 9am June 1st. I went ahead and selected aisle seats on the front row of the lower bowl... I how we will have decent perspective being that low. I loved how close the action seemed when I saw UNT play Monroe last year in Monroe. Terrible stadium experience overall, but you were so close, you felt like you were on the field. See ya'll Sept 10th!!! GO MEAN GREEN!

  4. We were so desperate to fill our schedule year before last we had to settle for a non return game @ Boise. It wasn't from a lack of trying because I know that we had contacted over 30 schools for a home and home. Guess what , we got 30 + '" No Thank Yous"

  5. The answer is that the teams you list are good "resume builders" if you beat them. They have been fortunate enough to put together the tournament runs that make them quality wins. We are not gonna get a aTm, UT, or even UTEP to come to our place because they fear us using them as a stepping stone to become a Gonzaga, Butler or even a Wichita State. So, yes, the "teams won't play us" argument is very much valid. And there is still no strong response to "show up to see YOUR school and the higher attendance will open up doors" argument. None. Not a one. Wanna know why UTEP gets the respect they do...not because of a recent tournament run, because their fans show up (and pay special attention to this part) REGARDLESS of opponent.

  7. I too have no clue why the SOW or some other non type logo will not be used on the helmets. Having "North Texas" puts us in a sub par category in the NCAA as far as branding. Makes no sense. I confirmed this past weekend with a UNT athletic official the SOW will not be on the helmet. RV needs to reconsider or leave it up to people who know about branding. Listen to the people who potentially will be buying tickets RV. -A Frustrated MGE1

  8. They Sew in the yard markers and Sow the turf. The question is: will they Sew SOW or Sow SOW at midfield?

  9. I think you are trying too hard.

  10. Holding the entire program back? No. However, the helmet is the 'face' of athletics, and when that face is as boring as it has been the past 10 years, merchandise doesn't sell. When merchandise doesn't sell, awareness of the brand goes down. When awareness of the brand goes down, we end up with 15,000 people at FBS football games. Don't get me wrong, if we were to go to the Rose Bowl, people would buy whatever crap gets thrown out on the shelves. Since we're not quite there (lol), you have to create incentive for people to buy your product (eg. it looks good and is recognizable). Basically it's just another area where we shoot ourselves in the foot for no good reason.

  11. December of 2006? Yes, but while Case was collecting 8 addittional hardship years from the NCAA, our middle aged player was off in a foreign country fighting a war to keep YOU safe from terrorist (que patriotic music). I think he will introduce himself to Case on September 10. Should make for an interesting meeting.

  13. I have come across a golden piece of info. Apparently the UH hand sign is the exact same sign as the shocker, or at least it was a couple of years ago. Seriously. Spread this info far and wide for tfe home opener.

  14. The numbers are sewn into the field. The stencils you saw this morning are the pattern for cutting the green turf. They then use the same stencil for cutting out the white turf, then sew the white turf into the cut-out in the green turf. This same process will be used for the SOW logo at mid-field.

  15. Not me. I want nothing to do with this kind of crap. ...and I'm sick of hearing all the talking heads proclaim that "You CAN'T win without cheating!" STFU, all of you dirty, money grabbing b!tches. Raise entrance requirements, universally, while allowing for kids to go straight to the pros. Stop bringing kids onto college campus' that have no interest in actually being a college student or ever completing a degree program. Sorry for the cursing. Just sick of all the bandaid solutions that get discussed/implemented that really do nothing but allow this crap to go on.

  16. I love the stadium and like the field but I hate the black on the sidelines and the endzone. A white sideline is much more classy in my opinion. The black looks old and kind of "trashy" for lack of a better word.

  18. The other side to the scheduling coin is when you're 4-26 you can go on the road and play a Big 6 game for the money and a loss. Over the past 5 yrs. JJ has had to recruit to build teams that could play on the court, and then schedule teams so UNT had a shot at 20 plus wins. Then that level of competition had to get us ready to play for belt title. Then recruit better players, so when we scheduled the few average to good Big 6 conference schools to come to the pit UNT had an even to good chance to win. Getting the Big 6 games at home or away is one thing, winning the games are another. Without the wins scheduling at home or away become a mute (sp) point. JJ has done a fantastic job scheduling over the last 5 years to get this team where it is so he can get the recruits to enhance UNT's BB reputation. Now we have the recruits coming in where we can actually have good OCC home or away conversation. Now we have to realistically account for Big 6 teams not wanting to play us at home because here's a reasonable chance that team will suffer a loss at the Pit. This puts all the teams that would like to consider themselves on par with UNT in the same boat. Come to the Pit and suffer a loss. Now the AD is in a pinch because they have to pay a higher guarantee to get schools to come play at the Pit. Enter home attendance and fan support. Not enough fan support then UNT athletics loses more money on BB. UNT is in the unique position of scheduling some good programs to come to the Pit and play which will increase fan support. Past that we also have a good young team on paper that maybe able to schedule some away money games with a shot a pulling off a road win against a big 6 opponent. Making inroad wining against enough Big 6 opponents and then the big 6 might schedule more games once UNT isn't look upon as so weak that a loss to UNT isn't that out of the question. If this happens JJ will have actually put UNT on the national stage. Can you imagine what Butler must go through to put their OCC schedule together.

  22. We are in NO position to have such finicky tastes when it comes to opponents. Perhaps if we had an unlimited budget, an established pedigree, etc we could be so picky. As it stands we have precious few things that we, without any outside influence, can control. We can't control who will/won't agree to come to our house (ever stop to think these "quality opponents" don't want to come to the pit because of the job we've done dispatching the few Big XII teams that have come here? No?). We can't control where blue chip players choose to sign...or can we? I wonder, do packed houses attract these kinds of players? We can't control our conference affiliation and the "crappy Sun Belt teams"....or can we? I wonder, would other conferences take home attendance into account? Seems to me that I was right on the money...not two posts after I spelled it out explicitly someone comes along to prove my point...we just don't know what to do with a good thing.

  23. Just being completely honest, I can't remember this AD being very receptive to constructive criticism by students or alums all that often. The same topics are being brought up today as almost 10 years ago.

  24. I think its more that people don't care when you beat crappy Sun Belt teams that are ranked in the 200's. If we really want people to start really supporting this program then we are going to have to start beating quality opponents. 20 wins is nice and all, but when the vast majority of those wins come against teams that have no history whatsoever no one cares.

  25. Just a question. Does JJ do enough "off the court" promoting of the program and team to help his own cause in the area of attendance? No value judgement intended or implied in that question, just wanting some other opinions based on what we are all seeing from Coach mac these days. I do not recall ever seeing JJ "out and about" on campus or in the community as I have Coach Mac. Is this something basketball coaches don't do as much as their football counterparts? GO MEAN GREEN!

  31. Nope, but I'm guessing you feel holier-than-thou after throwing down the religious force field? What I did take from that video is that Case is looking a little out of shape. But, then again, most middle aged married men do have a few extra pounds.

  36. Eagle1855...GREAT JOB! That is a fantastic amount and I really appreciate your doing this for the scholarship fund. very creative way to raise funds and a real "win-win" in my book. Raising $84.70 indeed does put us very close to our on-line goal of $500 for the scholarship fund. My thanks also to all who supported this unique idea by buying the downloads and/or CD's. Without your support this would not have been as successful as it has been. Really fun...everyone wins...the Andrew Smith Scholarship Fund increases, and several folks get some great music from a UNT grad! How could it get any better? Thanks to all... Now...could someone go ahead and add the remaining amount to the on-line donations site to get us over the top for our on-line goal? PLEASE...PLEASE....thanks to all and GO MEAN GREEN! Just a great idea, Eagle 1855...well done, Sir!

  37. We do the exceptional at UNT. Are you coming to the game? Hope so. We normally play on a smaller field, but with as many players as we have signed up this time...including so many ex-UNT players...we need teams with more players...more players = larger playing field. Lots of time to sub and enough playing time for everyone. By the way...does beer count as hydration in this case??? eppy...hope to see you on the 11th. Bring your checkbook and bid on lots of the great items we have in the silent auction. It will help the scholarship fund a great deal. GO MEAN GREEN!

  38. Some good questions from one of our game day referees...man, this is what i get for trying to come up with some actual rules...who likes rules anyway, right? OK...here we go...as commissioner I add the following to the rules of play. 1) First down...20 yards 2) Illegal forward pass does, indeed, carry a loss of down penalty along with the yardage. 3) No 3-point extra point in this game unless the extra point is scored by a female participant from 10 yards out...see rules regarding extra points.

  41. If no one will play us at home, then how did we get 1 and 1s with LSU and Tech? Hell, do a 2 for 1 with some of these schools. The schedule needs to be improved, because, like it or not, right or wrong, you aren't going to reach the average UNT student by winning Sun Belt games. The wins against Tech and LSU last year help, and with what we have coming, now is the time to increase the competition level, even if you gotta go on the road to play them. I absolutely love the Nov 29th game, win or lose.

  44. He wins. Above and beyond any off camps cheerleading he could do, he does the only truly important thing. He wins. Many, on this very board, say that winning is what draws the masses...and are wrong. And the "we don't play anyone" argument is sorry too. Todge didn't play anyone special...and certainly didn't win...and drew pretty well. The bottom line is that this fanbase doesn't know how to get behind a good thing.

  48. Ohio State has got to be the dirtiest program around.... Remember Clarette earlier and all that went with it, plus I seem to remember a scandal involving tutors writing term papers for athletes.... and now this is addition all that was being mentioned now... Their philosophy seemed to be---"Just win and we will ignore the rest". ---SMU fans are the ones should really be mad if OSU doesn't get the death penalty.... they did..... and may have not done worse or as long or as many things wrong. .
