  1. I saw that this guy and higher rated guard Stargell Love were granted their released last week. I've watched more Baylor games than any other program, not called Mean Green, over the past 3 years. I've never seen this guy on the court. Didn't even think it was worth anyone's time to mention it here.

  4. Two things: 1)I highly doubt this was a failure on JJ's part to do his due dilligence. 2)"Asleep at the wheel" is my copyrighted name for Ramone Flanigan.

  5. I've facebooked every last mother's son I know to go. I'll be there, and likely with the wife and kids in tow. Mavericks be damned! Collin and Denton County Mean Green need to show we can draw more than the miscreants in Dallas did! This is war, damn you!

  7. I think if you add Tony Mitchell (who is basically coming in as a Freshman) and Roger Franklin, plus our TBD scholarship, our class is probably a little better. They do have a great class though, and there are going to be some awesome battles over the next four years. I just hope we get to see one in Denton one of these days...

  8. Greetings GoMeanGreen land. It's been quite some time since I have had a chance to post any news. I wanted to make you aware of my two current major projects. The first should come as no surprise. It is a New Stadium Video. I have footage and pictures dating all the way back to groundbreaking. It should make for a nice final project when the stadium is completed. Some of you may have already seen my work with the Football and Basketball videos on YouTube and Vimeo. North Texas has a big place in my heart, and I enjoy getting to give something back. Currently, all of my time and energy is going into my first Full Length Documentary. The documentary is on The Buddy League, a special needs baseball league in Garland, TX. I invite you to please visit our site and spread the word. We are currently raising funds to complete our project. The project has already grown to be one of the most popular on the site in the first 2 days of campaigning. Feel free to check out our Proof of Concept video and read about the project. The Buddy League Documentary

  10. he is on track to play after the next semester... although Vito posted in on of his articles a month or s ago that he could play even sooner... I had not heard that, and have not seen any evidence for it... so I would assume he is still on track for being ready by/after next fall... and hopefully plays the 2012-2013 season as well, especially since right now we cannot find a fit for our final scholarship....

  17. Just to clear this up so people don't think we have people in an A line that don't perform because the music dept. is snobby or something. Back in the day (80's) the drumline started competing nationally and winning every year. So the group grew to where there were two lines. The A-Line was the competition line and only did a few games and the B line was the understudies and would fill in when the A line got to competition time. Later this changed to where the A-Line is a separate performing group that does tours and other things with the school of music. The A-line no longer plays in the halftime show. But as was greentimer says, some of those players do play in the line with the marching band. They do this because either they want too, or need the credits as music ed majors must be in marching band 3 years. SO there is overlap but it's two different groups. Think like the Schools' Wind Ensemble. it's the top performing band at the school. Some of those players are also in Marching Band, but it's two separate things.

  18. Best: Unknown opponent from 1997. As a 7th grader on a FCA trip I accidentally got to see the better part of a cheerleader's boob. Worst: Tulsa and that damn tight end who's name escapes me.

  20. ^^ underrated reply OK, I can't resist. I'm not a band guy, I'm an athletics guy. But I know how completely off the charts good our College of Music is. Yes, the best of our best are incredibly good. But my guess is that many of those best have no desire to be in the stands on Saturdays. If they did, they would be there. They are good enough to be able to make that choice. So be it. If they don't want to be there, I personally wouldn't want them there. As has been mentioned, the "B line" (if you want to call it that) will still beat the pants off every other A line that it will face on Saturdays, bar none. I would rather have that than some sort of negative attitude from guys (or gals) that didn't really want to be there.

  22. Thank You Spencer and Coach Mac. As the father of a special needs daughter, I know that words can hurt. People with special needs have feeling just like everyone one else. If you want your heart touched, spent some time with a person will special needs, You will never be the same again.

  24. i still say that when someone does something really stupid or acts in a stupid manner. oddly enough, the words moron, imbecile, and idiot are much worse as a definition than retard, yet those words don't conjure up reactions like saying retarded or retard.

  25. There's a lot of ways Fouts was lacking as a D1 stadium. The mid-field logo was only one of them.
    1 point
  26. Wow. The only area in the student section that's close to being filled is where the band is sitting. I hope that one new tradition is a stadium filled for every game.

  28. For what it's worth, we don't know where Tony was on their wish list. He was the #12 player in the class of 2010 with previous USA U-18 experience. Not saying he didn't get an invite because others turned it down, because obviously I don't know...but I would love to know the order their invites went out.

  29. Im just hoping there is going to be a logo on the 50. Fouts had to have been the only stadium in D1 without a logo. Very sad

  30. You may get your wish. Evidently the 2 sides in the NBA are further apart than the 2 sides in the NFL right now and not budging, making a lockout just about a forgone conclusion. There may be some new information, to which I am very appreciative if anyone has been following the NBA CBA closely.

  32. This will probably annoy the music-types here, but I wouldn't know if the Green Brigade was the best or the worst band out there. Sure, I want them to play the fight song and entertain us during the game with songs that get the crowd involved, but I am nowhere near the stands for halftime because it just isn't something that matters to me. I have always laughed at the people who claim that their band has never bean defeated at halftime. Its a football game. If I ever went to a UNT Music Dept. concert, I wouldn't expect to see our football team show up to practive hiking the ball during intermission, even if they were all there to support the university. I realize that lots of people here love the Green Brigade and a huge part of our attendance is from people who are there just to watch the band march at halftime and then leave. I don't mean to begrudge you of your efforts or your support. Its just that I believe that North Texas will have reached its fullest potential when most of the people at the stadium are there to watch the football game, not the halftime march.

  33. My guess would be that they will have cameras on both sides when our games are televised, but that is what I seem to remember RV stating months ago.

  34. Wait -- Officer Pissy Pants McLonghorn is a... YANKEES FAN!? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. No wait. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. I go all the way back to Chili Davis. Look at me! Seriously, I have a 92 year-old grandmother who lives in CT and cheers for the Yankees and I just wish for her to fall down the stairs every time she brings it up. The real story in this thread is the bastardization of baseball history. We all know Pee Wee Robinson, (aka Mr. October) led the New York Giants to the World Pennant first.

  36. The cool thing about this, is that the University could only afford turf to the 30 yard line. But with Empire's new promotion, we can afford to cover the entire field. Just call 1-800 588-2300 EMPIRE. Today.

  38. The 6 o'clock thing is a hassle to some. But, really, if it's 6 to 8, there is still time to drop by. I'm sure there will be more of us from Denton and Collin County (Frisco east to Allen, etc.) at the Plano event. This is a good event, but building enthusiasm for it doesn't come overnight. My relatives from Oklahoma note that the OU caravan that hits Dallas these days now costs $30 per adult and $15 per child. Before Stoops was hired and turned around the program, they were free. Give McCarney and his staff some time to build this thing into a winner. Winners draw. Plus, we haven't been doing this thing long enough for people to anticipate it every year. I'd say just be happy they are doing it now. The only thing they are doing wrong, currently, is the helmets - and, they may yet get that right as well.

  42. Great news! Thanks, Andy...looking forward to seeing you again this year....I am also certain this might raise our female participation level...or at least spectator numbers. By the way...I noted on the Facebook page that Johnny Quinn is listed as attending...anyone know if this is for certain? Maybe we can get the bobsledder to play as well as attend...anyone have any contact info. Just think what type of receiving corps some team might have? Could it possibly fall to one of our coaches to draft Scott Hall (come on Scott, you know you can't miss this), Andy Blount and Johnny Quinn???? Just sayin'. Folks, if you are on the "sidelines" about whether you want to sign up and play, let me assure you that you will have a great time if you decide to play...plus, you will be helping out a great cause in the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship fund as well.
