It is an important question but I'm pretty sure that it hasn't/won't be addressed. I am physically unable to stand the entire game and if there is a group in front of me I'll have to demand other seats or request that the standees move to the back of the upper tier. There are times when it's appropriate to stand and I'll do my best to jump to my feet at those times but I'll leave standing the whole game to the Aggies.3 points

It's worked so well thus far. Who out there doesn't know North Texas? If there's anything even more consistent at the school than changing everything, it's leaving the terrible things the same. I'm going to expound a little bit, because this is f'ing ridiculous and it's starting to piss me off how ignorant our AD is being about this. The most common question I receive outside the state, inside Texas, and in DFW is why I support the Philadelphia Eagles when I wear an NT hat. Great. I have to explain to them it's North Texas, to which the response everywhere except DFW is, "who?" Ok, so then the eagle logo is off limits, because no one recognizes it. So now you're trying to sell merchandise with just "North Texas" or "UNT" on it. No one wants that, sorry. That's one of the reasons (beyond the multitude of other inept decisions and lack of effort) that our merchandise doesn't sell. You have the UT-Austin Longhorn, SMU Pony, TCU Horned Frog, and North Texas North Texas. Yeah, it looks stupid, and even if other schools in other areas of the country get away with spelling out their name, truth is in Texas you either have a logo, interlocked letters, or both. So until the SOW makes regular appearances on TV in games and score recaps, no one knows what it is. No one wants to buy the gear that just says "North Texas" because, $150,000 font and all, it looks like something that could easily say "Lewisville High School" and no one would think anything of it. RV is flat out wrong on this, and I think it's time that someone else steps in (Rawlins?) and puts their foot down on the branding. I'm tired of this bush league BS, and I'm tired of the athletic department not being able to get their message beyond Eagle Dr.3 points

At tonight's Coaches Caravan....Coach JJ mentioned that we need to fill 4-5 more games to complete the schedule. As we know....we go to TTech, and host LSU. I believe he said that we're playing @ Texas. This post has been promoted to an article2 points

I love the green helmet, but I would like the logo to be the same as our NT ALUMNI logo with the N centered on the T and the star over it. Just my two cents.please don't rate me negative if you don't agree. thanks2 points

I'm an idiot to this stuff. Why would I have a -1 rating right now? How did you repost my post with that frame around it?2 points

I guess if the fear is that someone watching a game from home will not know who we are if we have the new eagle on our helmet makes sense. Thank goodness they are planning on putting North Texas in block letters at mid-field. Oh, wait...2 points

That's the point. If we forever act like a bottom dweller, we'll forever be a bottom dweller. Here's a wake up call on how bad our branding/marketing is currently, of which the athletic department has to be given the majority of blame as they're the most visible: Texas State-SM Hats (19) North Texas Hats (7) We have about 1/3 the hat selection of an FCS school. Lids I think is the most objective way to view how we're doing in the marketplace as they'll truly put up anything that sells. Winning would sell more, but it's not like TSUSM is tearing up the Southland. Again, the AD is extremely ineffective in marketing, and has made no ground (or even lost some) since 2000. I'm hoping that the RFP the school put out will bring someone in that will offer a wake up call, especially to athletics.2 points

I've never seen an action shot that only includes helmets, and if we have someone drafted high enough that they need to place our helmet on their desk then I would hope they've mentioned our name once or twice.2 points

If this is indeed the case, it's not necessarily a money spending venture. It could be a money revenue stream. If they buy the air time, they then sell the advertising. They just need to sell enough advertising to cover production/air time and the rest is profit. Plus, it's a great recruiting tool.2 points

wardly, I'm not arguing with you on this, just the person in the AD that has this belief. 1. If people buy a ticket and attend a game and look at a helmet with UNT on it and don't realize this stands for the University of North Texas, then the ticket buying public is stupid. 2. If I turn a game on television and know who is playing, let's say the Houston Cougars versus the North Texas Mean Green Eagles, I would think I could figure out who's helmet had UH on it and who had UNT or an eagle. 3. I prefer that we have a white SOW on a green helmet and considering our jerseys say "North Texas" across the front, I think I can figure out who they are. I've heard the same comment before and it is a weak one at best.2 points

No way A&M hires Johnny Jones. With all the money they have they'll go after a coach with a few more skins on the wall.2 points

I will be selecting my seats in less than two weeks. Before I do that, I really need the answer to this question. Where is the group of fans who like to stand for the entire game going to be? I applaud your dedication, but for my own reasons I prefer to sit in my seat, rather than stand in front of it (I do stand when it is prudent to do so based on the game situation). For that reason, I would really not want to be behind a group that stands the entire game. So, do you know what section/area you are aiming for? I would personally like to be somewhere around the 40-45 yard line in the lower section (but near or at the top of the lowest section, which would duplicate the general area I had in Fouts - but with a much better view, of course!). Thanks in advance. Click here to view the article1 point

I had a great time last night. It's always great to hear form Coach Mac. He said that he'd bought a house in Denton. I was glad to hear that. He's going about 150 MPH all the time. I brought someone with me that was not a Mean Green supporter. In fact, something of a "boo-bird." I don't know if we converted them or not last night, but I know they were impressed with the turnout and the energy in the room. I was disapointed to not hear from Coach Aston. I thought she would have been there as well as more coaches. Find a time and attend a Coach's Caravan when it comes to a venue near you. Well worth the time. GO MEAN GREEN1 point

I was really impressed with the Coaches Caravan in Denton tonight. Everyone should go to one if you are able. My take aways: 1. It was great to see some current and former players there (Lance Dunbar, Royce Hill, & Johnny Quinn). 2. I finally heard Coach Mac repeat a joke (Coach: How many really good college coaches are there? Wife: One less than you think.) 3. The golf coach did a great job considering he had to follow Coach Mac. 4. Good to see Scrappy, some of the cheer leaders, and some of the dance team there. 5. Johnny Jones is much more funny and entertaining to hear speak than I was expecting. I suppose I've only really heard him speak on the Mean Green Insider. 6. I thought the Mean Green Club did a top notch job with setting things up and providing door prizes. 7. In light of the fact I knew going in there would not be complimentary alcoholic drinks, it was nice that they had a cash bar. This post has been promoted to an article1 point

There is a LiveChat on Golfweek at http://www.golfweek.com/news/2011/may/10/live-chat-recap-ncaa-regionals-bids/ going on right now. Make sure and get in a couple of questions for North Texas.1 point

Well obviously OBL's post defense was lacking as our shifty guards were able to penetrate the lane and hit shots without much of a challenge. I do like the direction this thread turned.1 point

They could be on short list but I'm not sure either would take job. Buzz just got huge raise at Marquette and Pastner also has it pretty good. A&M has money and it has been proven that you can win there, but still not sure how good of a job people think it is. Dan Wolken (NY basketball writer posted his thoughts on Twitter: If I were Bill Byrne, my list would be Gregg Marshall, Johnny Jones, Scott Spinelli I know Josh is from Texas, but you don't go from Memphis to Texas A&M That Buzz Williams buyout is why I didn't include him. http://twitter.com/#!/DanWolken1 point

I like this helmet. I'm tired of the white helmets and I"m against putting the SOW on our helmets. If we were nationally recognizable, then fine, but we aren't. The only way I know a Maryland is in a game is seeing Terps on the side of their helmet. With the SOW on our helmet we are old school Philly look-a-likes and go by the name Northern Texas or Northern Texas State. I say keem NORTH TEXAS on the helmet!1 point
