Don't just think about one end of the court. What Franklin brings is the ability to play hard nosed, possible shutdown defense aginst most 3s and 4s in this league. If he can play shut down defense and rebound, I don't care if he ever scores a point. Plenty of scorers in this class.2 points

Since you have decided to quote the democrat party line and throw the race card, let's examine a few things: 1) John McCain was born at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal zone, then property under U.S. control, to a U.S. NAVAL OFFICER SERVING HIS COUNTRY at the time of John McCain's birth, John McCain's mother was also a U.S Citizen. Surley you aren't so stupid as to suggest that every child born abroad to a U.S. serviceman or woman is not a citizen? If so, please go take a freshman level government class... in high school. 2) Quit talking about racism when you have NO IDEA what you are talking about 3) Do you think Pres. Bush stole the 2000 election? Please answer #3. Pretty please.2 points

...wouldn't have anything to do with the fact his dad wasn't a citizen and he spent a good part of his childhood living in other countries, it's gotta be racism. ...I love it when people claim to know what is in the hearts and minds of others.2 points

So as a few of you know, and most of you don't, I'm a musician of the singer-songwriter variety. I released my very first album on January 18th, which is titled "Old Denton Roads", a nod to some of the best times of my life and the source of several songs on the album. The songs are alt-country, country, and kind-of-not country. So if you like any of that, you might like it. (If you don't like it, don't tell me... I have a fragile ego) OMG how is this football-related? Okay, chill; I'm getting to that. As I was saying, I loved Denton and my time at UNT. So naturally, when I finished the album I wanted to think of a way to give back. Since I spend a good amount of my internet free-time on this fabulous resource we know as GMG, I figured this would be a solid way to realize that ambition. Andrew Smith was QB during my last years at UNT. It was a profound loss by the entire Mean Green community, as well as many families, friends, and his home town. I'd love to donate to this worthy cause, but I'm a cliche, broke, wandering musician. What I can do is donate my craft. I'll donate EVERY cent I make from downloads from CD Baby for the rest of this month. CD Baby offers me a rate of 70 cents on each dollar sold through their website- the highest of the online retailers. It also has the quickest turnaround for payment. So downloading an album ($10) results in a $7 donation to the Andrew Smith Memorial Fund. To download go to http://www.cdbaby.co...rantleecroucher I'll provide complete transparency to the board throughout the process. The sale will commence today and run through April 30. Thanks for your time, support of local independent music, UNT Athletics, and GMG! -Brant '031 point

This. While living in Tennessee, I found that everyone else had a different idea as to the meaning of the letters UT. I say North Texas. When they ask what that is, I say a big-ass school in Texas that would probably blow your mind.1 point

How many do we have committed so far? If we have enough, should we maybe make 4 teams so players aren't left onthe sideline for half of the game?1 point

That is the reason Jordan did not want to play with Jarion. Though granted now after what has been said I am sure most people would not want to play with them. No 4 star recruit wants to go sit on the bench and play 10 minutes a night...1 point

It must be true, it's on the internet:-) My bad. Like I said I never bought the birther arguement anyway but my point was there WERE questions that BHO appeared to be dodging. That's not racism. In the end BHO is and always has been elligible to be President, a very, very bad President.1 point

North Texas Mean Green. We don't have to explain we are a "University", it's already implied, especially during sporting events. But this debate will rage on as long as a certain small department on campus is allowed to continue to fight the athletic department over this. It's been long established that the property south of I-35 that was the Eagle Point golf course is THE athletic complex for the university. And now it's dominated by the largest investment this university has ever made. So naturally, as soon as the ONE big ass lighted sign located on that side of the highway became available(the one that was used for the Raddison Hotel), the university stepped in and put a plain, hoh! hum! lighted "UNT" on it. Not "North Texas", not "Mean Green" or the athletic symbol, the Son of Worm logo or anything that might help promote or sell tickets for the opening of the newest stadium in the state? This is the kind of $#!t that has been going on for years that Dr. Rawlins and the BOR need to address and end now if we are ever going to see our brand reach it's full potential. Well, that and winning some games too. Rick1 point

Because it raised questions, legitimate questions of his origin. It raised questions that had nothing to do with the color of his skin. Valid questions. ...lots of folks with these questions (myself included) accepted the document that the Hillary camp accepted as proof before the election. Some others didn't as it lacked some details. There is nothing wrong with asking questions of your current or potential leaders. "Do you meet the Constitutional requirement to serve?" is not racist. ...and if you are being dogged why not present every piece of information possible to silence your critics. I know that's how I would have handled it. Really? So because the fact he wouldn't allow the certificates with the details of his birth made some folks ask "why not, what is he hiding?", means all these folks are racist huh? Really? Wow. I wish I had your gift. The ability to look into another's soul and know what is in their hearts and minds. What clarity you must enjoy. McCain wasn't elected President, last time I checked. I DO remember questions about his origins too during the election. Must have been racism. ...oh, wait...1 point
-
Just for clarification sake, there are concerns that people have with some of Obama's policies. Does that make them RACIST? I ask because people are labeling those that are against some of his policies as RACIST. I had hoped the election of Obama would help close the racial gap but it appears that it has only gotten wider.1 point

Wait... Being lowered to the point of responding to a reality TV star who is badgering you is a slick political move? Vito purposely stirs that pot time and again. I think we would all agree that the four year run was a good one. We all enjoyed it; we all appreciated it. I can't think of anyone on this board who has demeaned the ability of the players from '01-04. But Vito has no sense of UNT's history prior to Darrell Dickey, and his praise specifically of Dickey is excessive.1 point

I think our main colors should be green and white, but black is a great complimentary color for green and white. Black should be used as an outline for the numbers or for piping.1 point

This SOW thing is ridiculous. Now it's going to be on the field, on the press box side, on the student side, but it can't be on the helmets? I'm so damn tired of "North Texas" on the helmet. It's been 10 years and most people still don't know who "North Texas" is RV; time to let it go. We'll get just as much brand recognition if not more by having a recognizable logo than trying to train people by spelling out "North Texas" on the helmets. Also maybe then the "North Texas State" references would stop.1 point

---This one has not been even good at either one....... The largest one day stock market crash (%-wise) happened after several years Carter left office under Reagan ( more losses than 1929, just did not contine as it did then) ... Carter did not do a GREAT job ecomomicly but he also the victim of OPEC and their actions... which caused a lot of our problems... Also the Shah in Iran was overthrown which cut off those oil supplies as well... Carter has been the best ex-President ever... the rest usually go inactive, play golf, collect money for speaking engagements, or die soon afterward.. --Clinton-- The ecomony boomed, the stock market soared, and the budget was balanced his final 6 years in office (never since) meanwhile this one will have doubled the national debt by the time he leaves and Reagan more than doubled it while in office. Read facts and truth.. not the claims that some crazy radio people ignore and distort. .1 point

---The TRUTH really bothers me when it is not stated... The Gore comment... the Texas Rancher image...[besided he was born in Conn, went to HS in New England, and college at Yale.. He is a real Texan?? ] his claims about Iraq which has killed over 3000 Americans and 10,000's Iraq citizens... Saddam was a bad guy but the people of Iraq are much worse off now that they were before BUSH invaded on false claims.... At least they lived in relative peace and could walk their streets without being blown up or shot. They are are going through even a worse time than Europe went through during the 1500's as the result of religious warfare with their religion (Islam groups now, Catholic/Protestant then--ever hear of the 100 Year's War). This is far from over and we can't solve it, they have to, and you hope the Islamic crazies don't now take over with is highly possible because of what of our honest President did. Honest Abe he isn't. There is nothing funny about the situation... our debt is increasing and American soldiers are dying in a foreign land for little or no reason.. definitely not for the original reasons given...1 point

---Some people (not you) just ignore the TRUTH and believe what they want to believe. ...Our Texas-rancher President want to portray himself as a cowboy.... He never owned one cow until he was elected President and likely has never fed one yet. It is all image.... I grew up feeding the things when it was 20 degrees or raining and fixing fences and hauling hay when it was 105 degrees.. He is no cowboy.... That image is about as true as a lot of other things he has done.... [where are those weapons that we have have sent 1000's of young men to obtain and protect us from... result.... over 3000 dead young Americans...] . Again the Truth does matter....1 point

---I am not a Gore fan but I do believe in tell the TRUTH..!! That the Internet claim is made by the sleeze ball radio crazies such as Rush Limbaugh, Michael Reagan, and lot of so-called "journalists??" from one certain network etc. who completely and regularly misrepresent the truth. .. He never never said that. He made a comment to Wolf Blitzer on CNN (March 9, 1999) about "creating" the internet which is pretty much true.....by legislation. His legislation allowed what had been a military/government communication system to be released into the public domain for our use which is now called the internet. He was more concerned about having it available for colleges and libraries although the way things have worked out most homes have it available now. Better details are here. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp Be sure and read the final paragraph in the article about his winning an award for his contributions to the internet. ----Apparently who wrote this just listens to these guys and never questions anything they hear as being not true. Not everything you hear, especially on one network is even close to the TRUTH... I suppose the some people who live near the coast will deny global warming is happening until the day their property goes under water. That is the likely the most obvious thing that could happen (even a few inches could have big consequences). I am not a environmental crazy either but sticking your head into the sand doesn't change it. Maybe the slight warming is just a normal variation and maybe it isn't and maybe we can't really do anything.... but it does exist and could have big consequences, especially to towns and people who are near the coast. The Ice age existed and obviously things have warmed up some... and that was a natural occurrence.... I guess you could deny that existed as well. Part: II Winning the Nobel Peace prize doesn't qualify one to be President....1 point

There were questions because his father was a foreign exchange student from Kenya. Pretty thin, considering his mother (who actually gave birth Pres. Obama) is an american girl from Kansas. Everybody should have been screaming for Stanley Ann Dunham (related to Jub Jub?) to release her passport. If she wasn't outta the country, Pres. Obama couldn't have been born anywhere else. The Bigger Question: Pres Obama the offspring of a same sex marriage? But seriously, it became a question when a thin, kooky, percentage of a minority demanded to see the certificate because they didn't want him to be president, regarless of the election, and Pres. Obama refused (under really good political advice) to release the birth certificate, driving the kooky absolutely batty and making the non-kooky who didn't support him wonder what he was possibly concealing. It was a reallly slick political move, but he may be overselling it. He should have just released it and said he would have no further comment and let the people who floated this theory babble away and sink themselves. The press conferences give the appearance of gloating over something that you really shouldn't gloat about.0 points

The Star-Telegram printed a letter to the editor from Cindy Gill "on behalf of 67 parents and family members" in support of Coach Dodge. I cannot post a link because I could not find an electronic version, but among other things, Mrs. Gill writes, "You made UNT a place where noble young men would want to come and where their parents were proud to send them. We are honored to have shared this time with you. Many make headlines for a day, but leaders who build the character of young men make a difference for a lifetime."-1 points

1]our state charter is to be a regional university system 2]people,power,money, and regional politics are in BIG D, not little d. 3]we now have a law school. whether our state needed one is subject for debate 4]if Jackson can get us a school of pharmacy, which our state does need, then in my book he has done well.5]i don't know if it is his job to grow the denton campus, or that is the responsibility of Dr.Rawlings. i do think that Jackson's 3 main jobs at this point is to continue to grow the dallas campus, get the dallas law school up and running, and secure a college of pharmacy for the denton campus. this is just an old man's opinion. if i understand correctly, the law school will be named the university of north texas at dallas school of law, not the university of north texas school of law at dallas. if so, this means to me that long term the dallas campus will assume more importance in our system.-1 points

Now that we've got the 2011 schedule squared away, isn't it time to start the process of 2012 Schedule Theories? I see on some "future schedule" website that we have only two out of conference games scheduled so far for 2012, so we need a couple of home games to go with them: Sept. 1: @ LSU Sept. 15: @ Kansas State I don't think I'm pulling a rabbit out of the hat when I say those will be tough games. Although, I fully expect former Big 12 coach Dan McCarney to be ready to face Kansas State again in a very exacting manner...although, he was only 2-10 against the Wildcats during that tenure. It's fair to say that Kansas State was at their football zenith at the same time McCarney was lifting the Iowa State program from its perpetual gridiron ash heap. But, anyway, on with the grousing and guessing... My suggestion is that we consider schools who also don't have a full slate of out of conference games listed for 2012. See how that works? They don't have enough. We don't have enough. Let's get together and have enough of each other on the field of football battle? See? So, here are those teams who also appear to need 2012 games and whatnot. And, particularly, I list school which appear to have their fill of 2012 out of conference home games, but seems to be lacking in road games. I've not included Big 12 schools who already have contracts at Jerry World, because you can't sell the 'DFW/Texas' exposure angle to them: Tulsa Texas State Fresno State Washington State UTEP UNLV Utah TCU Virginia North Carolina Mississippi State Southern Miss Nebraska Missouri Kentucky Oregon State Memphis Colorado California Kansas Arizona State Boise State Iowa State Central Michigan Baylor Akron I'd really try to sell continued exposure in Texas to Colorado and Nebraska. Yeah, it's a lot less of a reality with Nebraska because they're nationwide anyway. But, they won't have their feet on the ground in Texas at all anymore unless they are the Big Ten rep in the Alamo Bowl. Sell it to Nebraska as a homecoming game for Rex Burkhead...and Anthony "Cedar Hill" Blue, Nick "Keller" Ash, Jesse "Guyer" Coffey, Jason "Lake Highlands" Dann, Ciante "Arlington Seguin" Evans, Seth "Southlake" Jameson, Murat "Plano" Kuzu, Courtney and Steven "South Garland" Osborne, Kody "Stephenville" Spano, Jamal "Arlington Sam Houston" Turner, Donovan "Arlington Bowie" Vestal, and Josh "Ryan" Williams. I'd also like to see the programs who we "aspire" to be in here, little guys who have built it: Fresno, Boise, and/or Utah. The "off-brands" of the BCS conferences I think are occasionally ripe as well. Look, Michigan State went to FAU. Kansas State was here last year. I don't think it's harebrained to put in a call the ADs at Kentucky, Iowa State, Mississippi State, North Carolina and the like.-1 points

What does his father's citizenship (or lack thereof) have to do with anything? And what does his residence outside the country AFTER HE WAS BORN IN AMERICA have to do with anything. Two years ago he produced a legal document from the state of Hawaii. The only document that Hawaii would have given anyone under the same circumstances. And a document that could not have been legally produced without there being an original in their OFFICIAL FILES. This is how Hawaii handles things and the rest of the county (except for Republicans with an agenda)accepts it. Again, this would have been an easy way for Hillary to dispose of her most formidable opponent. But she couldn't, BECAUSE THE DOCUMENT WAS LEGAL. Only a racist would choose to believe otherwise. And BTW, no comment about the McCain article? Hmmmmm.-1 points

I thought the whole birth cert thing was BS. If Hilary didn't bring that gun out, then odds are, it was legit to begin with. Everyone asking about it, even after the entirely-good short form came out, should've just stopped with it. Now some are BSing about his father's lineage, even when that would've ruled other presidents out as well. It's a lot of butthurt people involved in this. It needs to stop because we have other, bigger issues to deal with as a nation. Some may have pursued the birth cert thing out of racism, but that isn't everyone, nor does the inquiry into the cert become a racist action on its own. I like how no one thinks the idea of someone having to be born as a citizen to become president is somehow outdated. I want to clarify and say that someone can't just show up in May and run for president in June, but let's say someone was born overseas, comes to the US at the age of 2, totally integrates into American society, and then works their way up. Is their loyalty somehow less than that of someone born here?-1 points

Also... I think about where our minutes will go. We cannot have a team stacked with 4 star recruits.... We need those hustle guys who are happy playing 3 or 4 minutes tops a game. That is where I see Edwards and Knox next year. And most likely Franklin, Norris, and Walton as well. When T-mich plays one has to assume that he, Williams, Hogans, Holman and Jones will get those big 30 to 35 minutes per game (which I am not a huge fan of)...-1 points
-
Get real people. If it's not a Racist issue, then why hasn't any other candidate for President been asked to produce his birth certificate? Was McCain born in any of the 50 states? I don't think he was, and I don't recall anyone asking him to produce the appropriate documents during the campaign. Here is a link to an article (by a Libertarian) who raises the question... http://www.nolanchart.com/article1582.html Use logic folks. Does anyone really think that Hillary Clinton (a lawyer) would have hesitated to nail (then candidate) Obama to the wall over this issue during her candidacy if it was a VIABLE LEGAL ISSUE? If any of you have the least bit of assessment abilities, you have to admit that there was NOT ONE CANDIDATE, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN during the last election process that wanted to be elected President more than her. She tried to nail him on a more risky issue,... his religion and his religious mentor Rev. Wright, so why wouldn't she have nailed him on something easier.....like the birth requirement. So, to me, the only thing left to explain the birth certificate thing is.....RACISM.-2 points
