Holy Crap! Why did President Obama not produce the official document for all these years? Why should he have had to? Maybe his mother lost the original, and every REASONABLE (and non-kooky/racist) official that President Obama has dealt with all these years has gladly accepted the certificate of live birth that Hawaii issues as a replacement to EVERYONE....AS IS THEIR POLICY! It's THEIR LAW! HAS AMERICA REALLY GOTTEN THIS STUPID? THIS BLATANTLY RACIST?3 points

I like the blog.. he nailed it. McCarney had to do alot with little at I-State in order to succeed... and he did. The advantage you guys have this time around is the fact that the gap between good and great teams in the SBC is smaller than the gap between the haves and have nots in the B12. Mac got us to the point where we were playing the last conference game of the season for the B12 North title TWICE in a row. We lost both in overtime but the fact of the matter is he had us in that position in the first place. He went 6-6 against Iowa. I take issue with the comment that I-State is a second tier football school, but that's for a different day. In 2002 we climbed all the way to number 9 in both polls. We went 7-5 in 2005, with four of those losses on the road in overtime (including Nebraska), then lost the bowl game, 27 - 24 against TCU in Houston. The bottom line is that we were WAY more competitive than people gave us credit for. That all points back to Mac. UNT is going to be on top of the SBC in no time at all. You guys have all of the pieces to win it. Helluva coach, new stadium, fertile recruiting grounds....3 points

Get real people. If it's not a Racist issue, then why hasn't any other candidate for President been asked to produce his birth certificate? Was McCain born in any of the 50 states? I don't think he was, and I don't recall anyone asking him to produce the appropriate documents during the campaign. Here is a link to an article (by a Libertarian) who raises the question... http://www.nolanchart.com/article1582.html Use logic folks. Does anyone really think that Hillary Clinton (a lawyer) would have hesitated to nail (then candidate) Obama to the wall over this issue during her candidacy if it was a VIABLE LEGAL ISSUE? If any of you have the least bit of assessment abilities, you have to admit that there was NOT ONE CANDIDATE, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN during the last election process that wanted to be elected President more than her. She tried to nail him on a more risky issue,... his religion and his religious mentor Rev. Wright, so why wouldn't she have nailed him on something easier.....like the birth requirement. So, to me, the only thing left to explain the birth certificate thing is.....RACISM.2 points

Vito has covered two NT coaches; he liked one, disliked the other. I will say, if Vito had reported racial problems on the DD squad; I bet he would have got a lot worse out of Dickey then he did from Dodge. Dodge as should be apparent to anyone was not ready to coach at this level. Dickey was a good on the field coach who greatly benefited from one extraordinary recruiting class. Dickey's attitude would eventually kill any program. That "us versus everyone mentality" may work short time but that and one of the laziness recruiting approaches ever, doomed his career as a head coach.2 points

Just for the record, other than getting a new social security card when I lost my last one in a move, I've never to had to show a birth ceritifcate that I can remember. But why should it have been an issue for Obama here? It's not like every single person who has run for President had to show his birth certificate -- it's just thought that they were. Why did people assume he wasn't, when they don't assume that with Mitt Romney or Bobby Jindal (or whomever)? If people assumed I wasn't American because I have a Czech last name, I'd probably have a screw you attitude too.2 points

I thought the whole birth cert thing was BS. If Hilary didn't bring that gun out, then odds are, it was legit to begin with. Everyone asking about it, even after the entirely-good short form came out, should've just stopped with it. Now some are BSing about his father's lineage, even when that would've ruled other presidents out as well. It's a lot of butthurt people involved in this. It needs to stop because we have other, bigger issues to deal with as a nation. Some may have pursued the birth cert thing out of racism, but that isn't everyone, nor does the inquiry into the cert become a racist action on its own. I like how no one thinks the idea of someone having to be born as a citizen to become president is somehow outdated. I want to clarify and say that someone can't just show up in May and run for president in June, but let's say someone was born overseas, comes to the US at the age of 2, totally integrates into American society, and then works their way up. Is their loyalty somehow less than that of someone born here?1 point
-
I blame his scary terrorist sounding name. Wait... that's still racist!1 point
-
Just for clarification sake, there are concerns that people have with some of Obama's policies. Does that make them RACIST? I ask because people are labeling those that are against some of his policies as RACIST. I had hoped the election of Obama would help close the racial gap but it appears that it has only gotten wider.1 point

What does his father's citizenship (or lack thereof) have to do with anything? And what does his residence outside the country AFTER HE WAS BORN IN AMERICA have to do with anything. Two years ago he produced a legal document from the state of Hawaii. The only document that Hawaii would have given anyone under the same circumstances. And a document that could not have been legally produced without there being an original in their OFFICIAL FILES. This is how Hawaii handles things and the rest of the county (except for Republicans with an agenda)accepts it. Again, this would have been an easy way for Hillary to dispose of her most formidable opponent. But she couldn't, BECAUSE THE DOCUMENT WAS LEGAL. Only a racist would choose to believe otherwise. And BTW, no comment about the McCain article? Hmmmmm.1 point

The Belt begged ULM to join were they could have enough members to sponsor football. Later, ULM joined in all sports. I don't get all this talk about minimum anything, the Belt is a collection of schools with very modest means compared to most other football conferences. Every Belt school competes by virtue of student fees and state funds. None are remotely close to being solvent based on donations, ticket revenues, game guarantees and other program produced revenues. Based on a very narrow student vote, NT now has the funds necessary to compete in a lower level conference. More than likely the greatest thing that has ever happened to NT sports but hardly something to crow about to the outside world.1 point

I feel like a jerk asking, but why aren't you linking to their Rivals page yourself? Every single one of these threads has seen someone need to track the Rivals page down and then link to it from here. You're great at researching these and confirming "per Rivals", so if you're already there how hard could it be to stick in the link before you click "post"? That is the end of my wrinkled bill vent. We still cool? *edit Rivals link1 point

It's been a long time and maybe never that UNT is discussed with the likes of Texas, Baylor, and A&M!!! All these schools are nationally recognized in BB especially Texas and Baylor and to lesser extent A&M. There are have and have not programs in every conference. It's up to the rest of the conference members who actually turn a profit, appear in bowls, and have their stuff together to help the have-nots survive, right? I mean, isn't that the fair thing to do? Hang in there with them and be equitable? Surely, as UNT grows, wins, donations increase, and the program flourishes, and other schools continue to be a suck, UNT has a responsibility to yank their underachieving asses along with them instead of favoring jettisoning them, or bolting to a conference without the drain, don't they?1 point

Well...I'm not knowledgeable enough to make comparison, but here's yahoo.com article about UNT's 31st best class in the nation prior to Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Franklin's arrival in Denton. Looks like UNT BB shelves are well stocked for the future. Now we just need a truly dominant Center and we'd be set to make big March Madness run over the next several years. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=ycn-77114201 point

!!!!!Put me in for a roster spot again this year. I'm excited my family will be able to come support this event and help the Scholarship fund in Andrew's name. Lindsay (my wife) also wants to play this year so put us both down. I'm also gearing up to avenge the "white" teams loss last year, that won't happen again. I've started to recruit some other ex-players to come back for this event to make it more memorable and possibly get more people out in support. I've gotten 3-4 maybe's so far, I should know for sure in the coming weeks, stay tuned. I'll announce them on the board once they're 100%. I'll take an XL T-shirt and Lindsay will take a Small. See everyone in June! Scott Hall1 point

If your only purpose in dropping ULM is so LaTech can join the Belt, I couldn't disagree with you more. I'm not necessarily opposed to adding LaTech, but it needs to be on the Belt's terms. I just don't see ULM as being a drag on the Belt. They seem to be able to whup up on us in football just fine. They field a baseball team, we don't. Their football team beat Bama a few years ago. We have a ways to go before we "outgrow" ULM.1 point

This SOW thing is ridiculous. Now it's going to be on the field, on the press box side, on the student side, but it can't be on the helmets? I'm so damn tired of "North Texas" on the helmet. It's been 10 years and most people still don't know who "North Texas" is RV; time to let it go. We'll get just as much brand recognition if not more by having a recognizable logo than trying to train people by spelling out "North Texas" on the helmets. Also maybe then the "North Texas State" references would stop.1 point

It was these Asst. Coaches that made it possible for us to get to the NIT when they were last here - Tina Stinker had little to do with that rise. This was finally a good selection by RV - they will turn the program around ASAP.1 point

Your question was why would anybody question BHO citizenship in the first place, and your only reason is RACISM? C'mon, there were OTHER reasons the question came up in the first place. Like the fact that as an undergraduate at Occidental College BHO applied for and received financial aid as an international student. Aid that required the recipient be a citizen of a foriegn country. And yes there was a copy of a birth certificate released but Hawaii statute 338 allows foreign born children of Hawaiian residents to obtain Hawaiian birth certificates, and the certificate released by the Obama camp didn't name a location/hospital for the birth. I never took much stock in the 'birther' movement. I always thought is was a non issue and BHO was a natural born citizen of the US, but to say the only reason people questioned it was because of racism is way off base.0 points

Really? You really believe this? I guess it's great when one has the ability to judge and to be so very pure of heart as to know with no uncertaintity what others feel and believe. Silver, I respect your opinions on most things (even if I rarely agree politically), but this is really over the top. It seems to me this "racism" thing is what one pulls out of the hat out when they have no real argument based in fact. Always easy to pull the race card. It is beneath you, my friend. While we agreed from the very start on the fct that Obama had done all h needed to do to qualify to run for the preidency, I see absolutely ZERO point in pulling the race card. It so belittles the whole discussion.0 points

If nothing else, the whole birth certificate issue gave a bunch of people something to occupy their time. Some people collect stamps, some people play golf, some people like to research the legitimacy of presidential candidates. Normally, the "people" have a free, independent and unbiased press to vet the candidates on their behalf. To any casual observer, it was obvious that wasn't happening in this case, so they were left to their own devices and sometimes paranoid tendencies. And if it was *just* the birth certificate thingy then this never would have had legs. But it wasn't. Put it in the context of everything else* and people start seeing black helicopters (everyone knows you can't hear them). Factor all this in and it seems like more is known about Lindsay Lohan than the 44th President of the United States. To call people racist if they got caught up in this is just WRONG. Anyway, isn't Obama white? *Things like.... Why not spend the $10 it takes to produce a birth certificate 3 years ago. A S.S.N. that was either issued by the State of Connecticut or never issued at all. The whole name change thing (twice) The irrational secrecy around his college records/transcripts/writings. Apparently he enrolled at Columbia in September and was conferred a degree the following May. I thought universities (especially ones as prestigious as Columbia) liked to be responsible for more than 25% of an individual's course work before bestowing the honor of a degree upon them. ...wouldn't have anything to do with the fact his dad wasn't a citizen and he spent a good part of his childhood living in other countries, it's gotta be racism. ...I love it when people claim to know what is in the hearts and minds of others.0 points

Racist? Really? Come on Silver, I though you were above playing a freaking race card. I guess you've bought into the Obama supporters mantra which is to name call and finger point at all of those that don't like him. I think he is radical, pompous and arrogant and doesn't have a leadership bone in his body. I also think he does things to skirt the law every chance he gets. For instance, appointing multiple czars to avoid senate approval mainly because of their radical socialist viewpoints. I think he makes poor decisions on whom to associate with and who he goes to for guidance. Nothing I said makes me a racist, but I've been called one more than once because I don't like Obama and disagree with him.0 points

Don't play the race card. That's like saying the people who said Pres. Bush didn't win the 2000 election were racist toward white people. Just plain dumb. These people didn't like his politics, so they jumped on board a really stupid theory that he wasn't eligible to be president, just like the people who didn't like Pres. Bush's politics jump on board the ill-fated 2000 challenge. Politics tends to make grown, mature men and women revert to their former 2 year old selves, stomping their feet and holding their breath when they don't get what they want.0 points

Vito purposely stirs that pot time and again. I think we would all agree that the four year run was a good one. We all enjoyed it; we all appreciated it. I can't think of anyone on this board who has demeaned the ability of the players from '01-04. But Vito has no sense of UNT's history prior to Darrell Dickey, and his praise specifically of Dickey is excessive.0 points

Unfortunately, it was an issue much longer than it needed to be because BHO allowed it to be one. Could have stopped it all real quick...now he wants to be all smug and snooty and condescending about it all. What's up with that? The issue is that you must be a "natural born citizen" to be president. Simple as that, and the guy just would never produce the long form. You and I have had to do that many times...just recently at the passport office for me....maybe I should have refused to produce it. I wonder what would have happened? Think I'd have that new passport? Probably not! What's required of me is darn sure OK to be required of the prez...guy puts his pants on the same way i do...one leg at a time. For me, it was NEVER an issue. I was just fine with his status from day one...what I wasn't happy with was the childish way he was responding to the questions and the folks who just kept insisting that he was not a natural born citizen...both sides seemed pretty "off the wall to me", but most criticism goes to BHO from me for the way he handled this. Let me just also say that if this was a question concerning George Bush...just what do you think would have happened? Heck, the guy couldn't even get people to believe he actually served in the military. STUPID issue from the beginning, made even worse by a prez who seemed to just want to keep the game going until someone of Trumps status took up the question. Amazing waste of time and effort...you wonder why the president would want to play such a game?0 points

For athletics I am all for the UNT brand. The North Texas connotation in sports represents the regions youth/club athletics. Google North Texas Volleyball and "The North Texas Region of USA Volleyball" is the first hit. Do the same for North Texas Soccer and you get half a dozen regional soccer clubs and organizations. The same holds true for swimming and golf and would be the same someday when we bring on baseball. In my view UNT brand clearly distinguishes the university, North Texas better represents a region of Texas.0 points

Politically well played by the democrats. Let the other side get their dander up over a non-issue, avoid disclosure on the non-issue, making it look like you actually have something to hide. Meanwhile, have your buddies in the media report on how kooky the other side is for holding this position while not forcing you to show yours. Wait until you have the most to gain before disclosing the proof that you know is there, and then, BAM, smack them hole cards face up on the table and rake in a huge political pot. How I would love to sit down at a poker table with the republican leadership.-1 points

I think they are called "Certers" now. Any way you look at it this whole thing is just so weird. It may never go away. I found this kind of strange. The White House posted "The Certificate of Live Birth" at 8:57AM on April 27, 2011. *President Obama's Long Form Birth Certificate Posted by Dan Pfeiffer on April 27, 2011 at 8:57 AM EDT The PDF document available on the White House site now was created at 12:09PM on April 27, 2011 (a little over 3 hours after the first PDF was posted). http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/birth-certificate-long-form.pdf Did the White House post two different versions of the PDF? If so, why? It will never end. Keith-1 points

What if BHO was "not" born in the United States? Congress (Dem's & Republicans) would not void any of the current enactments as they stand today and life would still go on with one side stating "there should be a better way to ensure that individuals running for President have a legitimate birth certificate." The Democrats would have this debate tied in up in a plethora of suits until the next election and possibly (if he were re-elected) all through his second term. So, it is really not so much the birth certificate issue at stake as it is the current political agenda of financially destroying our economy. This is just one in a million "bunny trails" to keep us un-focased. This president, like others, are nothing more than puppets of the international banking system along with members of Congress who are paid by corporations / special interests ect. to enact legislation to push certain pieces of legislation for their own financial agenda. Case in point: WWI.....Wilson did not get the U.S. into that war to save the world for democracy but to save American financial institutions and corporations from possibly going broke if Germany won this (another in a line of European civil wars) conflict. F.D.R. got us into WWII because we needed a financial way to get us out of all the same types of an agenda that this current administration is doing. War has always been a great antidote to get nations out of financial difficulty.-1 points
